We often visit this cafe when walking the Whitegate Way. Brilliant value tea with the largest teapot I have ever seen! Soft drinks and food quite expensive. Environment is lovely and the young staff very hospitable. The only thing that is a shame is how short the opening hours are and how often they close. Plan ahead and this can be part of a beautiful walk. Dog friendly too (though you have to sit outside).

A rural oasis on a lovely old railway track, we had cold pops and homemade cake after walking to Cuddington and back on a boiling hot day. Voluteer run community cafe so needs your custom!

This place is a delight. Staffed (sometimes chaotically) by cheerful & charming volunteers, it has rightly become a destination in it own right rather than just somewhere to pop in after a walk or bike ride. The coffee is excellent, the cakes and bacon rolls delicious, this not-for-profit community enterprise is a Cheshire jewel. Beryl the Jack Russell agrees.

Eaten here a few times, so I thought I might write a review. We normally take our dog as there's a nice walk to take either before or after. The Cafe is staffed by volunteers who provide magnificent food, all served on proper China. With a smile! Good cups of tea, and nice coffee, according to my partner. Our dog loves the place!

We stopped at the cafe after a walk down the old train line and were met with a warm welcome, excellent customer service and lovely food. The food was good and reasonably priced and the service was quick. We sat outside as we had a dog and the food and drinks were brought out to us. We would highly recommend the cafe as place to stop for a nice bite to eat.

My wife and I occasionally do a circular walk from Blackemere Craft Centre and we always stop for a coffee and cake at the Old Station House. Yes, the coffee and cake taste really good - its not overpriced. The place has a charm about it, but it is the ladies who staff the place that really make it a pleasure to visit. My wife and I would like to say a big thank you - its how life should be.

Called here for a light lunch whilst visiting the area (not been before) they have a limited nenu due to covid we ordered 2 sandwiches, crisps, 2 cold drinks and 2 slices of cake, the sandwiches were nice and fresh not quite the same served on paper plates no garnish or anything, drinks were served in cans and no cutlery, staff were polite and friendly and are doing a good job under the circumstances, hope to call back later in the year when visiting the area again.

We ordered a bacon sandwich, a sausage sandwich and two coffees. The coffees were fine, but the hot sandwiches were poor to say the least. Each was served in a very small bread bun which looked like it was from an economy multipack. The two thin sausages were tasteless, and again looked like the cheapest available. The bacon was marginally better, but sparse. At £4.40 per sandwich, very poor value indeed. We'd happily go for coffee again, but pass on the food. You can do much better in this local area.

Been coming here for a long time now and was disappointed to see a lack of the usual homemade cakes replaced for shop bought ! This is one of the reasons I visit and was disappointed to see shop bought synthetic cakes on sale. Lockdown has affected everyone ... but to not have that unique offering takes away from the authentic and homely feeling of the place.

A great cup of tea and coffee served by polite, well mannered attentive staff. Our first visit after the refit. Clean bright interior and well worth visiting. One thing to note, it is a shame that a notice has to be placed on the counter stating that visitors should be patient as the staff are learning. The staff did an brilliant job and will probably be "poached" by othe restaurants!

I was expecting a nice warm and cosy cafe but it was uncomfortably cold inside & I tried tables in both rooms. I realised that this was because the back door in the kitchen area is kept open all the time even on this very cold day. I had a nice mug of tea, my friends cheese & ham toastie looked like a proper toastie that had been sealed in a toastie machine, my ham & tomato 'toastie' was just cold sliced tomato & thin cold ham between lightly toasted bread & was disappointing. I will wait until warmer weather & go for tea & cake next time

Really lovely cafe in beautiful countryside if you are a keen walker this is a must! Lovely coffee and cakes available my only gripe is the staff. I have been here on several occasions and the young girls that have served us were so miserable and barely muttered a word! We were fortunate enough to have been served quickly however a couple of people on the tables behind us hadn’t been served their food and had been waiting so long one family walked out! To be fair they were extremely busy and the kitchen was chaotic, if they could manage the staff better it would get full stars on the fact that the food is very good. There are signs that state that they are learning and to bare with them although they have been there a while now you do wonder......

Visited for the first time today. The cafe is situated in an idyllic location and the food was very nice. The young volunteers were friendly but unfortunately an older lady let the service down. Having previously lived in this area for many years we always thought this would be a perfect place for a cafe, so we were delighted to find this little gem here today. We called in for lunch, (2 very wet and muddy cyclists!), we were made to feel very welcome despite being soaked and covered with mud having had a close encounter with the ground on Whitegare Way! The sandwich and panini ,with very generous amounts of coleslaw and salad ,were freshly made to order exactly how we wanted them, we also had 2 huge pots of tea for two, the total bill for this lot was only around £10, fantastic quality and value, we have paid twice this in other cafes for food that was no where near as good. The best of luck to you for the future, can most definitely recommend and will visit again when in the area, will promise not to deposit so much mud with you next time

I love this cafe! How lovely that it's run by volunteers too, it's great to see the community, friendly feeling is still alive in some places. These people had even chosen to give up their bank holiday to open the cafe. Don't forget that because everyone is a volunteer; as the lady informed us some of the staff have learning difficulties and things so perhaps wouldn't be as professional as a paid member of staff in a different cafe. But so what?! We were made to feel really welcome and even given free cake! What more could you want?! Fancy coffee and cheap prices? They have that too! All the cakes looked really tasty and all the staff were great. Go to this cafe. As one lady said 'we're not Starbucks and we're not Costa'. All the better for it I say!

Attended Saturday night quiz. Arrived at 7:00pm. Started with a glass of red wine and Mediterranean platter followed by a to die for cheesecake( all food freshly cooked by Jason ( chef ) and the team. Wolfed the cheese cake down and realised I hadn't took a picture. Had a few more vino's during the quiz along with some banter with Jason and the regular customers. All tables were booked and nice to see a full house. Made a change to the average Saturday night and will certainly do it again. Would recommend to call in prior for some brekky or lunch to book quiz any day before or on Saturday. Quiz moved on quicker than your normal pub quiz which was great with the light banter and no typical interruptions from pub scene. Didn't win the quiz but enjoyed trying.

Stumbled on this wonderful cafe as we were on our way home from a camping trip. The staff are incredibly friendly and were so welcoming and kind to my 5yo daughter. The food was amazing, we both had the breakfast and my daughter had a lunch box which she loved and I thought it was great value, when we went inside to pay we couldn't not buy one (or two) of the amazing cakes. So delicious. Thank you :)

Our favourite place to come for brunch after football. The team, as always, went above and beyond with the orders for our family (all with different dietary requirements). The boys had the classic big breakfast with local products at a great price. I tried the weekend special eggs Benedict and it was amazing. The boys filled their boots. The girls enjoyed new things. The doorstop toast alone is worth the visit. Sadly, no room for my favourite one the menu - parsnip cake, but the cake-away option meant I could enjoy it later. We brought a friend for their first visit and she was blown away.

Not religious at all but like other reviewers found this true OASIS when looking for refreshment in Chester Just great, lovely staff and clientele and great quality and value coffee and cakes... Interesting selection of books, gifts, cards etc Would use regularly if we lived locally Staff say they may have to relocate soon due to "commercial development of the site" Surely the Church which is not short of funds can provide an alternative venue for this wonderful place which probably does more for spreading the religious message than many more traditional churches etc...something in the Cathedral Precinct maybe?? Good luck to you all and God bless ( if it helps)
