A true gem in Redruth station. This lady truly cheers you up if your train is delayed. Coffee is not just coffee it’s how would you like it and don’t worry if the delayed train suddenly arrives you can pay me when you come back. Caroline truly cares about each and every customer. This cafe is more than a cafe, it’s a place of spiritual replenishment.

Caroline made our 1.5 hour wait at the station so much better. She was friendly, kind, helpful and fun. The range of coffees, teas and sandwiches and toasties was excellent. Every customer was served with a smile and genuine conversation. I can see why she has a wall of Christmas cards and why Jenny Agutter has left such a wonderful message in the cafe.

Lovely atmosphere and great food, not the usual bog standard cafe you often see , the owner is always friendly and welcoming and the service is quick and friendly. Had a great bacon and egg and mug of tea while waiting for the train going up along. If u like a bacon sarnie it’s recommended. If nothing else it’s worth a train trip just for breakfast

Classic bacon and egg sandwich on Granary bread cooked to order probably the best sandwich I've had in years. The lady who served me informed me the eggs came from a free-range local farm they were delicious. Great service nothing was too much trouble. other cafes should take note of the quality of service and do the same. It just goes to show good products and great service go a long way

Thinking it unlikely I would get any food on the GWR train from Redruth to London Paddington, I was pleased to find a good old fashioned railway buffet on the platform at Redruth. I bought a couple of freshly cut sandwiches and a cup of tea to take away and received the best service I’ve had for many years. The woman serving behind the counter, who is also the owner, was careful to ask exactly what I wanted and also made a couple of helpful suggestions. So much better than the prepackaged sandwiches and sugary snacks available at the chain coffee shops or vending machines usually found in stations. Apparently this cafe was threatened with closure by GWR earlier this year butte author was thankfully reprieved and got a new 5-year lease. It would be great if everyone passing through Redruth station would support this business and buy at least a cuppa on each visit.

Caroline's cafe at Redruth Station is a wonderful community hub. It's more than just a coffee shop, as people here feel her warm welcome and come together to talk - with each other, but also with Caroline herself. Caroline recognised me after having been to her cafe just the once; and then of course every time after that. And the coffee, tea, hot chocolate and delicious food she makes are bespoke for every customer. The choices of different brands, different ingredients, temperatures, etc are suited to everyone's tastes. Most of all though it's Caroline's sensible and warm-hearted atmosphere in the cafe that draws me back time and time again.

I writing the review about a visit in April, but I regularly travel to Redruth by train and if am there before mid-afternoon (when it shuts) I always visit the station cafe. Caroline is friendly and charming, knows her regular customers well and always manages to fulfil my order even if I have little time between train and bus (decanting my half-drunk coffee into a takeaway cup if necessary). She always remembers my preferences. Food available, all made to order, includes breakfast, sandwiches, toasties and (my pick) toasted teacake with jam or marmelade. The cafe is not used only by rail passengers but also by a variety of local residents. There are books for sale (useful if you have run out of reading matter) including some (and chidren's language cds) in French. A plaque over a table marks the association with Jenny Agutter, regular, local resident and heroine of The Railway Children. As the Michelin Guide used to say 'vaut le detour' if you are in Redruth. Clients are hoping that the current review of the lease will not damage this much-loved institution.

This cafe is always a reliable, reasonable and welcoming place. Caroline is friendly, efficient and well-liked by the regular customers. Buy your drinks and snacks here - you never know if there will be a buffet trolley on your train and the prices in Redruth station cafe are much more reasonable.

The station cafe at Redruth is legendary in our house-hold and often sways whether we travel to Cornwall by car or train. Part of the reason for the brilliance of the Cafe is down to the lovely and helpful lady who runs it. Caroline Jervis has made waiting for your train and grabbing a snack and a cup of tea or coffee truly part of the whole experience of travelling. The cafe is a warm refuge on a blustery day, quirky and British in the best possible way. I can't think of anyone making a better job of it than Caroline- the toasted sandwiches are delicious, and we would be extremely disappointed indeed if she were not there. There is a Blyton-like joy in the little cafe, and a delight to feeling- for once- that you are experiencing train travel at its best. Cornwall is all about the people- and Caroline is part of what makes the Cornwall such a popular destination.

Returning to London with my friend after a week in Cornwall. Another friend had urged us to visit this cafe because of the wonderful woman who runs it. We weren't disappointed. It was just two coffees because we'd started off just after breakfast but it was a lovely transaction. She took such care over our coffees and was so hospitable and kind. It's rare to find that kind of personal service these days. Ten out of ten!!

lovely fresh cooked sandwiches like cafés used to be...a rare treasure on the railways these days! So many stations are catered by chains, their hot drinks are ok but their sandwiches very poor. Caroline at Redruth cooks everything fresh and takes extra trouble over your cuppa tea as well. Deserves our support!

Lovely crispy bacon sandwich. The place has so much character with second hand books for sale and pictures. Great to have these unique buffets on the GWR in Cornwall rather than some corporate show.

Dropped in for a snack as we had an hour wait for our train. We ordered 3 breakfasts. Everything was cooked fresh to order, nothing was too much trouble for the lady running the cafe, she swapped and changed items for my young daughter as there’s some things she doesn’t like. All served with a lovely chat and a smile Will definitely come back next time I’m in Redruth

Caroline runs this little station cafe better than some with 4 star restaurants! She quickly learns everybody's favourite order and will have it ready and waiting for you if you are a regular. It's small station cafe, not fine dining, but you will leave with a smile on your face, ready for your journey.

Foolish enough not to have brought a water bottle with me on my long journey from Reading I was desperate for somethingll to drink when I got off at Redruth. I had no cash on me but the lovely person serving gave me a tea for nothing, and in spite of being nearly closed, trusting me to pay 'as and when'. Which I will, thankyou!

A nice straightforward coffee and bacon sandwich. What marked this place out from its competitors (apart from being open early on Monday morning) was the very good and friendly service - obviously appreciated by the local regulars who kept popping in for a drink/chat.

popped in with the wife today £5.10 for a small but plentiful breakfast, the lady/cook was very polite and helpful took about 10mins and was very tasty, the cafes decor looks like it hasn't been changed since 1985 but its charming and it doesn't feel rushed, which a bonus in this hectic world of fast food.they even had a little sign(badge)in the corner saying (jenny agutter sat here)which ticked me.would recommend regardless to if you're catching a train or just need to sit down for a drink or food.
