Station Buffet Bar in Fife

This is the most excellent pub. Everytime we are up at Kilconquhar Castle we go and drink in here. Derek and his staff are the most inviting friendly pub staff around. The beer and food are brilliant as is the atmosphere . We wouldnt go anywhere else of a day evening/Sunday sesh. Kevin, Big Ali and the team

Went in fir a drink as the bus was another half hour and it was lashing down. Very decent pint reasonably priced sat down beside the fireplace bear the bar, was nice enough, left alone to enjoy my pint

First time visiting there with my mate. We had lovely lunch, I had delicious cheese toastie with salad and crisps. Nice decor, good atmosphere and friendly staff.

We had been at The Ship but didn't fancy the menu (I know everyone rates it, but we found it to be limited depending upon what type of food you are looking for) Anyway we visited the Station and found exactly what we wanted which was a fuss free lunch and a couple or drinks. The menu is retsricted due to the fact there is no kitchen however I had the soup and toastie deal (soup was home made and fab!) and hubby had toasted panini - and pinched half my toastie ! Staff were friendly and welcoming. This seems to be a 'locals' pub - pool table available - and it isn't a huge place, but it is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. We shall definitely return if we are in the area again.

After walking the coast route up from Anstruther was very pleased to find this place. We both had fantastic toasties which hit the spot served by helpful & friendly staff.

Walking in Ellie stopped at the Station Buffet. Great food and great service. Most importantly it came with smile and great price. Great service from the gent behind the bar. Had soups and toasties. Delicious, cracking bar and spotlessly clean. Sat in a pod in the garden opposite and the food was brought to us. If in Elie, go here, best in town.

My family and I were in the area again and saw the charming Pods outside which allowed us to have an enclosed drink and a snack together. The weather was not great but we were kept dry and cosy. The owners are very helpful and still keep a well kept pint and the food, whilst only snacks, is tasty, filling and inexpensive. We will return later in the year. Well recommended.

Was recomended the station from a competitor in elie what can i say me and my other half had a great time at this bar all the locals and staff made us feel at home We were staying at st monans but made the trip to the station every day Great people great staff really miss the people up there would love to go back

Looking for somewhere for a late sandwich lunch we came across this place. Don't be put off by the old style pub, pool table and decor. Very friendly service, good, basic food freshly made , oh, and the cleanliness of the toilets would shame larger more upmarket places.

We visited as a family with a puppy looking for a quick supper in a dog friendly place. In case anyone is confused by the name - there is no buffet! I've added a picture of the menu as their menu section on the website wasn't working when we checked. It's a proper traditional pub with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Our paninis and sandwiches were delicious and great value - would definitely return.

Visited Elie many times over the years and have passed this pub each time and never went in. This time my son said let’s have a pint so in we went and I am very glad we did. Service by the owner was excellent and friendly. Beer was well kept and inexpensive. We sat in the garden over the road as it was a very sunny day and had a lovely time. Finally we went inside for toasties and bacon rolls. Again well presented and inexpensive. The new owners are doing a great job. Will definitely be back.

Popped into the Station Buffet Bar after a walk along the beach. Tasty wholesome food, good chat from the staff, great selection of drinks and dog friendly. Perfect in every way 👍🏻

Nice unpretentious Main Street bar - friendly locals & good barman/owner; we forgot our torch & dog’s toy & he ran down the street after us to return our stuff!

Walked from Anstruther which took us about 3 hours so decided to pop in for a well deserved drink. Very friendly guy at the bar who we enjoyed chatting to. Nice pub.

we popped in her for a drink and a snack on our travels recently , the barman was very friendly and welcoming . we had a snack from the menu and it was very good value for money i would recommend here for a a very warm welcome and decent snack menu

We went in a couple of times over the week end staff very friendly and helpful, we had something to eat just soup and a toasted sandwich which was delicious just a light snack which suited us.

We popped in for a couple of drinks after lunch at The Pavilion.The lady behind the bar was friendly and seemed to be more than happy to be 'wound up' by the locals who were in. The beer was good and, my wife told me, the wine pretty much average pub quality.All in all, we were pleased to have visited again, having not been in since it changed from being 'Braids'.

Our Lead for our group - Ramblers (Edinburgh-Balerno Group) phoned the owner to say there would be a party arriving yesterday for coffee and cake. He very kindly arranged to have coffee scones and cakes ready for us (not something he offers in his pub). His service was very quick and he was very friendly. Will will definitely use this again when walking in Elie

We popped in here for a couple of hrs on a Saturday, they advertise Sky Sports outside when we sent inside its a rather small pub/bar with a tv over the bar area which wasn't on.

Great little place in Ellie, on the Main Street. Good selection of beers and the staff very friendly. They have a small menu for food but just what you need for lunch , especially after a nice long walk on the Fife Coastal Path. Soup and a Sandwich was only £5 yes on £5. Great value and very tasty . We will definitely be back

We'd been hiking most of the morning in the rain and needed something warm to eat. The welcome was warm, the food choice spot on, reasonably priced and quickly served. Just what we needed. Great

You get a good pint here and the foods fine, it's simple pub grub but the clientele leaves something to be desired...

Basic and cold food for the lunch menu, not very filling. Very pleasant staff. We had to put the heating on in the back room as it was very cold, especially on a cold, wet day.

Popped in as dogs allowed friendly staff ordered the lentil soup hot and tasty along with toasties and paninis which were filing will return

Stopped by with the family for lunch as it was pouring with rain outside. Glad we did. Kids were hungry so we ordered toasties. Food was really good, portion size good too. Lager on tap was also good. Reasonably priced. Good atmosphere. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend this place for a bite to eat or for a drink. They show the football too...

Visited this great wee place on a recent weekend. Great pub for watching the rugby. The staff were very friendly and I liked the touch of them remembering patrons drink order!!

We visited here while on holiday in Elie over New Year. Is a cosy traditional pub with coal fire. The owner and locals were extremely welcoming and we will definitely be back the next time we're in Elie!

Encontré este lugar caminando en el barman y preguntar donde podíamos conseguir algo honesto. Él nos envió a la Pavillion (revisado por separado). Me prometió volver después de comer. Lo cual hicimos.

My friends and I popped in for a bite of lunch and were greeted by very welcoming and friendly staff. We had toasties and baked potatoes and some beers; we were given several shots by the very jolly waitress for free......a lovely gesture! A lovely wee bar, would recommend when visiting Elie.

Great little pub with lovely relaxed atmosphere- new owners have changed this pub to Being a place you want to go for a relaxing drink- keep it up!

A lovely cosy atmosphere. Very friendly staff, always a welcome when we return. We haven't eaten but they do some hot snacks. Mary is a lovely hostess.

We (six guests) had a very poor dining experience here (now called Braids). The staff are very friendly but I do not think they are able to deliver on the range of food they offer given the miniscule cooking area of the bar which they use to cook the food. Our food was extremely slow to arrive, could not be served at the same time, was not well cooked, and even the cheeseburger had no cheese on the burger itself. We left quite a lot of our meals uneaten. The staff recognised their shortcomings and our dissatisfaction, were very apologetic, and did make some deserved financial discount but I do think that if that is all the cooking facilities they have, they should stick to simple fare such as sandwiches and Panini's etc. Regrettably, we would not return here.

The Station Buffet is now called Braids. Tge new proprietors are extremely wekcoming. There is always a friendly face behind the bar. Homemade food is delicious. Well worth a visit if your passing.

We came in off the street with our dog looking for a cup of coffee having been declined by another bar in the town. The enthusiastic bar lady could not have been more welcoming. Free doggy treats for the pooch, very good coffee at a reasonable price. A pleasant, tidy bar, I'm a happy customer and would recommend it to anyone.

Always loved coming to this lovely wee pub but now that its changed hands the atmosphere just isn't as friendly, wont be rushing back! very disappointed!

Came upon this bar whilst wandering about Elie a bit miffed at the apparent lack of eatingplaces. We don't usually go for pubs but the Station \hotel was fine. Cosy, clean, cheery barmanreasonable choice of beers and a basic, thankfully unpretentious, food offering that providedgood value and no complaints. We don't come to Elie often maybe once a year or so but we always visit the Station Buffet. There is no station here anymore just a really nice bar. Almost everyone is really friendly here and the bar staff are great fun. Well behaved dogs are very welcome here which suited us perfectly. We'll be back.

My wife & I were in the station buffet on the same nite and to be honest the bar person was in a difficult position 2 football games on at the same time, the group of English gentlemen were in first and were settled in to watch the Chelsea game, 10 minutes before it started there was a small group of maybe 4 or so came in to watch the Celtic game. She came to a compromise the first half was Celtic, the second was Chelsea which most seemed happy with. At half time true to her word she turned it over at which point one gentleman became a wee but vocal and left. We continued our nite in the buffet and had a nice evening with other customers and the bar person in question. We are regulars to Elie ourselfs and have always found the staff in the buffet to be friendly, welcoming and we would recommend the station buffet bar.

We went for an evening to the Station Bar. The barmaid was far more interested in chatting up some travelling workmen than serving customers, even to the point of showing an English Champions League game rather than show the Scottish game that the rest of the bar were wanting to see. We decided not to opt for food. As regular visitors to Elie we would not waste our money in this bar again.

A nice little bar and friendly bar man but to advertise as nice home made pizza and then watch them take it from the plastic packet and stick it in the toaster over was pretty disappointing. 8 pounds for a Tesco pizza. Beer was fine though....

Stopped in here several times during our week in Elie. A small and cosy bar with plenty of choice and well priced. There is a smaller seating area by the bar and then a larger area at the back with sofas and pool table and big screen. As the bar was a 2 min walk from where we were staying it was an ideal place to pop in and have a swift one and was more welcoming/cheaper than the Ship Inn.

Very friendly bar. Reasonable prices. Watched the Scotland v England game but the result wasn't as pleasant as the surroundings.

We were staying in a cottage with no wifi and so spent lots of time at the Station Buffet Bar, and they were always welcoming and friendly. The beer here is great.

We were on holiday in Fife and had gone in for lunch after spending the morning on the beach at Elie. We chose the Station Buffet Bar because it was closest to where we had parked; weren't we lucky! A really nice interior which blends the modern and the traditional and very clean throughout. A friendly welcome from the locals enjoying their lunchtime pint as well as Eck the barman. We were made to feel like guests in someone's home not as customers to be endured. We were encouraged to bring our dog in who enjoyed a fresh drink of water from the bowl provided. We ordered some lunch which was cooked at the bar in front of us and was really tasty, although this shouldn't come as a surprise given the quality of the local produce. If I lived locally I'd never leave.
