Fab relaxing lunch here on Thursday. Lovely food well presented and reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Good range of "homemade" items especially on ploughman's. Hot food excellent also. Certainly recommend.

I came to visit the ‘ Country Kitchen’ after the re opening and what an amazing experience it was. So much options for food at such a great price, not to mention it was delicious! A warm and welcoming atmosphere and the staff are so friendly I would 100% return. Thank you ladies for the positive experience.

Wonderful and very friendly service with excellent tasting food at more than reasonable prices. My dog was made to feel very welcome indeed which pleased me a great deal.

As a group of cyclists we have been visiting the Star Cafe and many others on our rides for a number of years and in the past it has always been classed a greasy spoon cafe but with very welcoming staff along with great food and prices. Usually the cafe was very busy and if nine of us went in the chances of getting a table would be quite remote. After its closures for several months and new owners taking over we had the misfortune to visit recently as it is still a greasy spoon cafe with a lick of paint but at very expensive prices and poor quality food. Menu prices are £3 for a small pot of tea, £5 for beans on toast and £4 for a bacon sandwich which was served on poor quality dry white bread is very expensive compared to the many other places we visit and there are numerous other places to eat in Eccleshall. It was very noticeable that there was no one else in the cafe when we arrived and only one other person came in for a drink. We wish you all the best for the future but we will not be returning.

We use the star cafe frequently, both to eat in and for takeaways, and we have done for 20 years! The service is always friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble, they will cater for any variation of their menu items, the food is always hot and tasty( and never greasy) I am a pescatarian and sometimes it can be hard to find choices, at the Star Cafe I am spoilt for choice. Their breakfasts are to die for and I love their salads and omlettes. If we ever have to go somewhere else on a Saturday lunch time, I always compare it , and it's never as good. Everything is excellent value for money, and in my opinion their frothy coffees beat all of the fancy expensive ones hands down! Every now and then they do an evening service with traditional Turkish food on offer, this is also fabulous and excellent value. I can't wait for my next visit!

As a postman I sometimes work in Eccleshall and have delivered post here before, but have never eaten there. This past weekend I decided that I'd go over for breakfast with my partner to see what it was about. She had a normal sized breakfast, whilst me being me, I had the Ultimate Breakfast (pictured). The food was cooked to perfection, the tea and coffee was spot on, and we will definitely be back here soon. The cafe doesn't look like anything special from the outside, and inside it is warm and welcoming, with a higher level of furnishing than I would expect in an establishment like this. The food we received as mentioned was cooked to perfection, and a normal assumption would be that the food would be quite greasy however it was quite the opposite and was extremely fresh and tasty, with no grease to be seen anywhere. Total bill for two breakfasts with two hot drinks was £20.90, and I'd be more than happy to pay that again for what we received. Free parking on the streetside for 2 hours is more than enough for a visit here, and I would recommend a visit if you don't live too far away, or are passing by somewhere near.

Absolutely superb. It’s been completely refurbished and I’ll definitely be bringing the littlen’s along for some lunch. My sandwich was cooked perfectly, lovely service, good price and a lovely setting.

Eccleshall is a delightful small town and well worth a visit.This cafe took over from two ladies on the condition they kept it traditionally English Fayre. Tremendous choice and beautifully prepared food.During LOCKDOWN they do ho me deliveries for free and the Turkish staff are brilliant.I had Chilli and my wife scampi. Friendly in the extreme so do visit this amazing cafe in this sumptuous small town.

I've eaten a few times at the star cafe with family and friends the food s been freshly cooked and delicious everytime unlike a lot of cafes the chips weren't frozen and there is a good Verity of meals not just traditional Portion sizes are good plenty of food and prices are very reasonable and friendly service

First time I had visited the Star Cafe for around 18 months but once again found myself on business in the area. Plenty of parking on-street outside the cafe, friendly welcome and service, North Staffs Breakfast was superb as always. It was a warm day so it was pleasant to sit and watch the world go by in a shady breeze before hitting the madness of the M6 to get home! As always thoroughly recommended, extensive menu and tasty, freshly cooked food.

I have visited Star Cafe many times. It is a lovely, friendly little place and the food is lovely. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. In the last year or so they have started to have Turkish nights where the Turkish food is to die for and the atmosphere really warm and happy. I am so glad we have such a great place in our area. Thank you to all staff for wonderful service, food and atmosphere.

First visit today and it definitely won’t be the last! Great food, great service, great value. Thank you Star Cafe, we will be back and will be recommending to friends.

Not even a hello when you walk in from the waitresses. Prices are extraordinarily cheap for such big portions. External decor as some other reviewer mentioned in the past is lacking. Ambiance inside could be improved with music and warmer surroundings. The destroyer burger was okay.

Easy to walk pass. Step inside to an old world cafe. Not that big inside. Large menu. Ordered double cheese burger and son had chicken, beef, bacon etc special burger. Had a big plate of chips with the meal. The food was substantial and tasty. Both clean plates at the end. £15 with 1 soft drink. Good value.

This friendly, charming traditional cafe delivers excellent grub at excellent prices. Clearly a popular spot on a Wednesday lunchtime, and would wholeheartedly recommend and definitely return.

It has been a few years since we last ate at the Star Cafe and nothing has changed. Lots of history to the premises so a step back in time and the food is still great value and amazing food. A full sized plate for a full breakfast and a lovely mug of tea. To be honest it don't get much better.

We came here when visiting Eccleshall for a quick lunch i'd seen on the website that they do the greek food so we were excited to find something different. It turns out that is only available for evening meals so i ordered a veggie burger but it came out missing 1/2 of the toppings had to wait a while to get the correct meal. friendly staff clean and tidy but let down by the meal.

Admittedly, the external decor put us off this place for a few weeks and I hate to say it but it has a greasy cafe look about it from the outside. However, we had over heard a few people saying how lovely the food was so decided to give it a go and we weren’t disappointed. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and the prices are excellent. We really look forward to returning sometime soon. I honestly think a refurb of the exterior would be ground breaking in terms of passing trade.

called in for quick lunch, service quick and efficient. Transport café type of food. Ordered pie and chips which was served with the pie covered in a thick layer of gravy dark brown in colour like treacle. Tasted unpleasant and left a nasty after taste. Wont be back.

Doesn’t look much from the outside I must admit and decor maybe needs a little attention but sit down at the very basic but clean tables and chairs and the service and food is spot on. Even with a full cafe my presence was met with an attentive manner, then order taken then food delivered piping hot and very enjoyable. 5 stars from me

Is to be had at the star Cafe. I used to frequent it a number of years ago on a Thursday lunch for fish and chips. It has since changed hands, a number of years now. and I haven't tried lunch. But the Breakfast is very good. Freshly cooked and all good produce used.

If you're near junction 14 of the M6 and looking for somewhere to eat Eccleshall is only 5 miles away. The quality of food, value for money and service in the Star Cafe are outstanding. In particular the chips are amazing, freshly made and perfectly crisp.

Went in to try a breakfast we both had the breakfast 1 from the menu and it was just perfect nice big portions everything was cooked to order and was nice and hot even the cup of tea that came with it was nice and strong just how I like it, the staff were very friendly and helpful we will visit again.

I tried for the first time today The Star in Eccleshall, I had the fish and chips, the fish was excellent with lots of flavour and accompanied with chunky chips peas and salad for £5.75. It was great value for money. The food was freshly prepared and hot,I can't wait to try there breakfasts.

Very pleasant cafe serving a nice variety of meals and snacks at reasonable price all cooked to order with speedy service I chose the egg and chips 2 nicely poached eggs served with hand cut chips served promptly and efficiently by a pleasant waitress complimented by a tasty latte will definitely call again when in the area happened on it by chance as a lot of eateries (tea rooms cafes etc closed due to New Years Eve }

visited today for quick lunch. menu simple food nothing fancy but more than enough to choose from. ordered oat cakes and toasted tuna mayo bap plus 2 mochas. mochas we're the hottest I've ever had in any cafe which was a big bonus. normally in high street coffee outlets coffees etc are warm at best. had one portion of chips with our meals, expected a small serving of fries but pleasantly surprised with huge thick cut and piping hot and too many for us to finish.

We visited this cafe and Had a quick lunch, we had some sandwiches and it was fresh and lovely. We will visit again.

I arrived in Eccleshall after a 28 miles cycle ride ready for a job refuel, and I wasn’t disappointed. I chose this cafe over others due to the other bikes parked outside. Cyclists know the good cafes. No pretentions, just a friendly welcome, good food and good value. If you want shabby chic, gingham and chalk paint go somewhere else, otherwise you cannot loose.

Me impresionó ver lo mal tratados que fue después de todas las críticas positivas. Pedí una taza de té, y "caído" en mi cartera para proporcionar el pago, le expliqué a la señora que tenía una lesión cerebral que me causó cierta confusión a veces, probablemente fue agravado por el extortionate​ £1. 40 que estaba buscando. Al localizar y situar el cambio correcto en la barra de ella emediatly fuimos a la cocina y volvió con dos cenas de pescado, y luego continuó a esperar en las mesas más que dos veces me ignora totalmente por ahora era sentó debido a mi discapacidad espinal estenosis principal.

Visitamos este café, que está en el extremo de la calle alta, el menú tiene mucha variedad, también el batidos son preciosas. No desayunos, almuerzos, sandwiches, sopas, tartas, sándwiches tostados, etc. También son todas caseras y caliente y porciones abundantes. Las comidas no son caros y el servicio es muy bueno.

Attend here regularly with work and colleagues. Its a no frills great food and drink service. The value is good and the place is clean. It always has people in when I attend. If you want a breakfast or just a quiet coffee and in the area. this is the place to go.

Grabbed a bacon sandwich today as I was passing, to take away. Great price and service, looks a good place to get a decent fry up in a traditional no frills cafe, have to say the bacon sandwich was excellent, and I shall be going back again soon to sample a big breakfast!

It's been a few months since my last visit to the Star Café but when I was back in the area the other day I popped in and it still does not disappoint! Friendly staff and a great choice of homecooked food at good prices. Since my last visit the toilet has been refurbished and the whole place has been given a lick of paint. Food is still all freshly cooked, I recommend the Staffordshire oatcakes, a great addition to the breakfasts. Usually plenty of parking on the road nearby, wide mix of customers from tradesmen to families to older folk all of whom are made very welcome. 100% recommended - make a visit here soon!

Our family group of nine were looking for a breakfast in this area. At first glance, being 10 of 10 on the list was a little worrying, but closer inspection of the comments made better reading and we decided to head there. Parking was fine in the High Street, for four cars. It doesn't look too special from the outside and indeed quite basic inside. The menu was extensive, and every possible combination of cooked breakfast was available, or just ask for your own choice. Tea/coffee included in the price as was toast so unlike most other places no "extras" pushing the price up The quality was superb, nine people, many different selections, all correctly delivered to the table, hot and fresh. This was a lovely breakfast indeed!Only one negative from me is that the room was quite cold, and a bit of extra heating would have been nice. If you are looking for a good breakfast in this area give this place a try!

I love visiting the Star, the owners are really friendly, and the food is great, a really hearty breakfast, I can't help but leave feeling full and it's great value. It's a favourite stop off point for cyclists for a bacon sandwich and a brew.

Visited for coffee & was served instant! Why would any cafe only supply instant coffee. The meals looked reasonably priced but I would not buy & drink instant coffee so will not visit again. Probably explains why there was only 2 other people in the cafe when we visited

Me and my family visit the café at least twice a week after a good workout with daddy. We really love the food, my personal favourite dish on the menu is a triple sausage, bacon, egg, cheese, hashbrown, chip, burger, cake, fish finger, sausage, bacon and toast sandywhich. "Yum! Yum!"

We wanted an alternative to Loynton Fisheries after falling out with the owner over the price of a cup of tea. A pot of tea here is £1.80/person and as we are not big tea drinkers we asked for a pot of tea and two cups. No was the reply from the owner.Well I reckon with a tea bag costing less than a penny, charging £3.60 for us was a bit steep and was asked to leave the cafe.I explained to my upset wife there were plenty more eating places on our journey to Manchester.Sure enough we came upon the Star Cafe in Eccleshall, a few miles away.The welcome from I think Cypriot owners was fantastic and a brilliant traditional breakfast including a lovely pot of tea thrown in for nearly half the price of Loynton.As I said to my wife there are always plenty more fish in the sea!

Good breakfasts, nice staff, quick service. You can add, remove, swap and change the options on the large menu. Once a fridge exploded by us and sometimes leave with a slight stomach ache but overall good food.

I have been using the Star Cafe on and off for about 8 years and in that time it has always been a pleasant stop off for myself and an ideal meeting place for myself and colleagues before conducting business in the area. Staff are friendly and breakfasts are good value, more recently the Staffordshire oatcakes have made an appearance on the menu which I tried on my most recent visit and they were very nice. Comfortable surroundings in the ground floor of an older building within Eccleshall, this cafe seems to be popular with locals and visitors alike, well recommended.

For those who remember the "old" Star Café and their legendary scrambled eggs then the current owners provide a much more mainstream offering, except that they feature Staffordshire Oatcakes on the menu in among the standard fare you find in any of these types of neighbourhood cafés - unfortunately they are obviously frozen and reheated but that's better than nothing.

We visit here when we fancy a fry up and can't be bothered to cook. Great place for a full English. Friendly service and no nonsense food.

Thoroughly recommend the breakfasts here. There is lots of it and they don't have the cheap sausages that you sometimes get in cafes. Great friendly Service.
