Starbucks Royal Mile in Edinburgh, City of

I asked for my coffee to sit in and got a take away cup which is wasteful and not nice to drink out of. I wonder how many cups get thrown away a day from here. Everyone else sitting in had take away cups too. Maybe they don't want to wash dishes. Also thr music was very loud and the coffee wasn't especially nice.

Spotted the where are you cups and decided to have more. William was very friendly and pleasant. He wished us well on the rest of our day. 😊. Service was good, efficient and easy.

When we got there around lunch time it was pretty busy, only a few staff behind the bar and they were absolutely smashing it - we were waiting behind maybe 10 or more people and got our coffee within 5 minutes! Lovely staff, clean place. Shout out to Jessica, Charlotte and caitlin, craig and Scott who made our experience a good one!

Always reliable for coffee and food, and this location was no different. Good selection of treats, hot and cold. We opted for red velvet cake and iced caramel latte for me and speculous muffin and hot chocolate for my friend. We even opted to sit outside to enjoy the winter sun. And people watch too! As expected both drinks and cake went down well and were enjoyed by both of us! Nice location, with plenty of footfall, and quick service.

Please don’t work in the hospitality service if you have no intention of being hospitable or polite.

Another bad Starbucks experience. Like a cattle station. All these lovely restaurants sitting empty and we are herded in and out like cattle and sheep.A sign said 'Fill in Track and Trace' to use toilet, but no forms there anyway. I don't do T&T and assumed they weren't bothering. Used the toilet then when my drink came was handed a form which I refused. I was on the premises less than 15 minutes so T & T does not apply, and the staff should have known this.'Hospitality' has lost the plot, it is no longer 'Hospitality', just 'Give us your money and march out'. Pointless.

We popped in here for our caffeine fix and the standard of coffee was good as usual and we were served by a helpful staff member. There was a nice atmosphere in this coffee bar and it is conveniently located near Holyrood Palace.

Hoy tuve una experiencia muy pobre. Debido a que el personal de Covid está sentando a los clientes en las mesas designadas, lo cual está absolutamente bien para mí. Estaba solo y el caballero que me sentaba me mostró una mesa de dos asientos en la esquina de la habitación con una vista de una pared en blanco. Pensé que era una vergüenza porque había elegido la cafetería para sentarme y admirar la vista de Royal Mile. Pregunté si podía moverme a una de las numerosas mesas vacías junto a la ventana. Todavía no me había sentado ni tocado la mesa de dos asientos. Dijo que no, que tenían que guardarlos para otros clientes con grupos más grandes i. mi. grupos de 4. Dije que era muy poco probable que se llenaran todos, sobre todo porque me habían dicho 3 veces que hay un límite de 45 minutos sobre el tiempo que puede quedarse. El lugar estaba vacío y conté al menos 7 mesas vacías. Dijo que no, que todavía necesitaban ser salvados "desafortunadamente". No sonaba como si lo encontrara desafortunado en absoluto. Luego estaba helado mientras traía mi bebida. Me fui y me lo bebí afuera. Entiendo que tenemos que adaptarnos, pero el sentido común y los modales habrían sido de gran ayuda. Las imágenes a continuación muestran lo vacío que estaba el lugar y mi maravillosa vista de una pared en blanco.

Soy un cliente local y habitual. El personal recuerda mi nombre, me pregunta cómo estoy, recuerda mi bebida y mi bocadillo favorito. No podría pedir una mejor experiencia en la cafetería. Esta ubicación puede estar muy ocupada a veces con personas que a menudo no hablan inglés muy bien y, sin embargo, el personal es siempre paciente y educado a pesar del estrés al que se encuentran a menudo. Great coffee shop and very good coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was really nice. Great service received.

Al visitar la Royal Mile el sábado por la tarde, con tiempo limitado, pudimos conseguir una mesa aquí. Buena selección de pasteles y carta de bebidas completa. Las mesas estaban arriba con vistas a la Royal Mile. Las señales para hacer cola eran un poco confusas. Desinfectante de manos en cada mesa y datos de contacto tomados una vez sentado.

What can I say Its a Starbucks , and not one of the best at that mainly due to staff that were grumpy. Its busy due to location which may account for our experience

Very cozy sitting area upstairs with nice view on the Old Town (it can get stuffy though), perfect location as it's just on the road leading to the castle. First Starbucks that I actually like as my coffee is the way I want it. I was visiting couple of times during my stay in Edinburgh,baristas change quite often so not everyone looks happy with their job.

Staff here Are very rude- look very disinterested at what they are doing - she got my order wrong twice and when I asked her she looked at her colleague, laughed and said something about tourist. When she heard my accent and realised I’m from Edinburgh and a local she looked very embarrassed! Which she should have. Very rude!!

As an early riser when travelling it is great that here you can get a coffee at 6.15am on a Sunday morning. Great location on Royal Mile with a good latte and pleasant staff.

Niente a che vedere con il caffè che facciamo qui in italia, comunque il posto non é male ed è ideale per questi hipster di oggi a cui piace farsi i chinotti a vicenda. La spacecake era ottima, a differenza dell'impianto idraulico del bagno, che si é intasato dopo esserci passato.

It is a very busy place, however, you need to expect that if you are going to a coffee shop on the busiest street in Edinburgh, so cannot be treated as a disadventage. What should be definitely improved is cleanliness, very weak point here. Staff does their best to be friendly and quick. Drinks are on their usual standard for the chain.

Ok, so a Starbucks is a Starbucks... This one in particular was extremely busy when we went in for a quick coffee on a miserable, rainy afternoon. The upstairs area is more of a large hall than a coffee shop - gray and zero atmosphere... Certainly no chance of being tempted to linger and not somewhere I would go again.

Had the worst drink of my stay here in Edinburgh. An embarrassment to the company. Go a couple more blocks to the one in Waverly, they have been consistently good.

We had enjoyed a busy morning in Edinburgh involving seeing a number of sights and doing some souvenir shopping. By early afternoon we were ready to rest our legs and enjoy a coffee.

Om du anländer till Edinburgh via Waverley station med flygbussen och sedan rullar din packning uppför gatan mot the Royal Mile, ligger denna Starbucks perfekt till för att vila benen och återfå krafterna. Sedvanligt utbud. Mycket vänlig personal som utan att behöva tillfrågas hjälper dig bära upp ditt fika om du har packning och väljer att sitta en trappa upp. Utsikt mot folkmassan på övervåningen. En utmärkt start eller avslutning på vistelsen. Toaletter med kodlås (Du får koden på kvittot) som gör att de håller sig fräscha för gästerna. Mysig lokal en trappa upp med högt i tak.

The Royal Mile is always a terrifically busy place, even when festival season is not on. We did visit before heading to the real Mary Kings Place which is located but 30 meters away. We tried visiting on several occasions but this small Starbucks was rammed. The crowds are not Starbucks fault at all but it does make it tricky to visit, particularly if you are blind.

I have been to many Starbucks, but this was the first one that had a historic city atmosphere. From the second floor you had a great view of the buildings on Royal Mile. It had book shelves with Charles Dickens books that made it look like a cozy English reading room.

I work nearby, and appreciate that this Starbucks is often one of the busiest branches and one of the busiest places on the High Street, but that doesn't mean you're going to get poor service! Whenever I do stop in, I find that Tara, especially, consistently has this positivity and genuine-ness that puts a smile on my face and on the faces of other customers and staff. Overall, I find that the staff are quick and accurate with orders and friendly to boot. It's not an easy gig, serving the masses of the Royal Mile, but you're all doing a great job.

Bra läge på royal mile, gott kaffe (om man gillar Starbucks såklart) god mysfaktor på övre plan däran gott kan slappa en stund för att komma undan stressen på gatan utanför. Ett bra ställe att vänta om man ska med någon av de guidade turerna från kiosken precis utanför. Trevlig personal.

We were staying in the Raddison just down the road and were very pleased to see a Starbucks just up the road. The staff were so polite and friendly, great service, coffee was great all round a good visit. We went in every day of our trip and would go back.

Royal Mile都有其他大型連鎖咖啡店，但聖誕期間有些已經關門，所以這間超多人排隊，等了一會才能拿到咖啡。試了聖誕特色咖啡，好像是焦糖布丁味，很甜很甜，可能較甜適合外國人吧。

Nothing different about Starbucks be it in any country. I love their amazing coffee and varites / choices available.

We stayed next door at the Ibis, and since the sun doesn't come up in winter until almost 9, I guess a lot of local places do not open until then either. We woke up very early in the mornings so this was the only place to get coffee and a muffin at 7am, so we stopped here a lot. Service was fast and polite.

First time in Edinburgh Scotland when we went it the table was quite dirty from previous customers, my husband said ‘excuse me please can you clean our table for us?’ As we were leaving with my kids the worker came up and said ‘can you make sure you clean your table before you leave like you told me to clean yours’. So I asked my wife she went and cleaned. My point every other customer left with cups on their tables yet we were the only customers that had to make sure our cups were picked up, I really don’t mind but I think it’s completely wrong if you don’t like your job then your in the wrong job! There was no politeness she said we said’oi’ we would never speak to anyone with ‘oi’ There is nothing wrong with excuse me! You really need to train good customer service skills, extremely dissatisfied. The male at the front desk apologised but the employee failed to even apologise and walked away with out in addressing the issue. It was time to go home she was clearly not bothered!

On a cold December day Starbucks was a perfect place for some warming coffee and a toastie. Really nice sitting area upstairs and we enjoyed sitting by the window watching the world pass by.

Service good, local good.. but “hace un frio que pela”. En pleno invierno tienen el aire acondicionado y tienes que tener la cazadora puesta.

Ha sido nuestro lugar de desayuno durante esta semana en la ciudad. Nada mejor que un café calentito para ayudarnos a despertar antes de una buena caminata o excursion... todos los dias nos han atendido bien pero esta mañana nada mas pedir el café y salir a la terraza por patosa se me ha caído el cafe enterito al suelo delante de la puerta... cuando he ido a pedirles algo para limpiar las chicas lo único que me han dicho ha sido que estaba tomando y me han sacado otro totalmente gratis. Después de discutirles que compraba uno nuevo me han dicho q de eso nada y me han dado un nuevo capuccino recién hecho con una sonrisa. Solo por el servicio merece la pena.

It was raining outside and I went in with my friends and two of them ordered coffee, then the staff members said in a really rude way that we can only go upstairs if EVERYONE makes an order. I mean I understand if we just go in and dont order but I have never heard about this rule. Never going to a Starbucks again :-)

the staff here were so accommodating to us and our dog Nora. They went out of their way to make us and our pooch feel welcome. One particular staff member supplied water and dog treats and told us about dog friendly eateries in the area. It can be difficult finding somewhere that accepts dogs especially in a busy city but the staff were fantastic. Amazing building, drinks and staff!

Posizionato sul Royal Mile ad una buona altezza e ottimo per fermarsi un attimo dall'esplorazione della città. I posti sono al piano superiore e anche se la sala è grande non è semplice trovare sempre posto, a volte bisogna aspettare un po'. Il personale comunque è gentilissimo e preciso. La wi-fi gratuita è utilissima per programmare il resto del proprio viaggio sorseggiando una bevanda calda; ottimo il chai latte ma ho trovato i dolci un po' posati.

So everywhere is busy on a Saturday afternoon in Edinburgh......however dropping into this Starbucks they offered efficient service with a smile. Yes, you know what you are getting with Starbucks and you could be in any city in the world, but great service and a smile can make all the difference - thank you even found a seat upstairs looking out onto the royal mile

We got served ok, but the man next to us got completely the wrong order so they didn't charge for it. If you want to sit down you have to go up some really steep steps, not great with a heavy tray of drinks. Upstairs is where the problems started.

Starbucks on the Royal Mile is good for a coffee. The service is the typical slow Starbucks but its Edinburgh and you can enjoy your surroundings while you wait. For some odd reason, Starbucks protects its bathrooms like they are gold and you are given an access code with your receipt. This is one thing I dislike about Starbucks

Grear place to rest your feet after exploring the royal mile. Customer service is great, coffee is great and considering how busy it is its always quick service. Seats upstairs - if you are lucky enough to get one, its a busy spot!

Right on a main corner so easy to find. Don’t let the tight lower level fool you. The upper floor is open, airy, and comfortable. All the usual Starbucks offerings, including a strong wifi signal !

The food is standard for Starbucks, and as such, comes with a higher price tag than what you could get for the same price tag elsewhere. Nothing too unexpected compared to other Starbucks. Same goes for the drinks.

We have been there for breakfast. There is plenty of space in the first floor. Classical Starbucks quality. Very nice atmosphere. Recommended.

Things for breakfast and coffee in the morning tend to not open up until later here (after you meet you tour ect). Starbucks still opens early and has a good coffee and decent food. They were a life saver before we left for the airport and our tour.

They are seem the same to me. The consistent quality is also something I count on. I don’t get to them often. I had a piece of cake and hot chocolate. The people were nice. Bathroom was clean and the eating area was reasonably picked up. The cake and hot chocolate were good. You can’t go wrong here.

As this is on the Royal Mile you can expect this place to be busy but the queue system was a shambles and Emma (?) seemed to have a sarcastic attitude towards the people who pay her wages (i asked her for the code for the toilet door and she sighed and informed me of the code and then when i repeated the code back to her to double check she replied "oh well remembered" without any humour). The rest of the staff seemed o.k. As with these type of coffee shops there is a selection of different types of coffee, etc. and i chose a Latte which was fine. There is very little in terms of seating downstairs but upstairs there is plenty of choice.

European coffee is good but it sure was good to have a taste of home with a fresh brewed cup of Starbucks. Well staffed, crowded but it moves.

The coffee is over-roasted, no cream only milk, crowded and they charge extra to stay and drink coffee. It's actually cheaper to get the coffee and leave. If you need a cup that bad...okay, then. When I found Cafe Nero's I never went back to Starbucks.

Had to have our Starbucks fill for the day. Ordered an Americano and to my surprise they had black tea iced. Very few restaurants in Scotland serves iced tea. In the U.S. iced tea is offered all the time. Not sure why not in the UK. Anyway, service was fast, staff was friendly. My husband wanted cream for his coffee, he had to ask for it as it was not available at the fixing station when adding sugar. Location was great, right on the Roya Mile. Nice outdoor seating too.

The Starbucks on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh was wonderful. Although typically Starbucks it adds the Scottish personality to the visit. Great staff and great Flat White!

I noticed a difference in some of the drinks here, like the chai tea latte was missing some spices. Other than that, it's typical Starbucks and there is always a line because of the location. There was plenty of seating upstairs, though, so that was good.

Our go-to for a quick breakfast-- delicious ham & cheese toasties! and the service was friendly and efficient. We also stopped in for teatime while the rain passed... N.B.: your phone app from another country will work for paying, but they can't process any "rewards."

The place is too crowded as it is situated on a very busy street. The menu is regular, we had green tea. The service is very poor, the tables are not cleaned on time. The floor and carpets are dirty.

Place is dirty and no customer care. Shut the toilet an hour and half before closing for 'cleaning' that never even took place. Grumpy unhelpful staff too.

This branch is deffo a tourist trap as its location is very good. We went into grab a coffee and to get warm. It was super busy as expected.

The global caffeinating giant delivers a reliable product right here on the Royal Mile, just as it does around the world. Plenty of seats upstairs.

I love chai lattes...this one was pretty good. Wasnt too hot and you could actually drink it. Missing the cinamon on top tho. Partner ordered a gingerbread latte - bit average they must have changed the recipe since last year. Oh well warmed us up.

This Starbucks seemed to be the tour hub for all the tours in Edinburgh. It was not very busy which was great for grabbing a quick snack and coffee before starting a tour.

Wij gaan in iedere stad naar een Starbucks maar deze krijgt 5 sterren van ons. Het personeel is aardig en snel. Op de eerste verdieping kan je rustig chillen met je koffie. Aanrader!

Stopped off for a nice coffee on a cold day on my 40th birthday. After I had paid I was told we would have to have take away cups even though we were sitting indoors.

We were headed away on a tour and needed to be fed and coffeeed by 0830. Just about the only place open on the royal mile at this time is Starbucks, which I would not normally go to.

Very spacious Starbucks situated in the centre of Edinburgh. The upstairs area especially is lovely with lots of tables and plugs to charge your phone/laptop etc.

Abbiamo cenato da Starbucks perché non avevamo molto tempo. Io ho mangiato un bagel con il salmone e ho bevuto un te caldo. Ho speso 6 sterline, è poco ma il panino era piccolo, infatti dopo poco mi è tornata la fame. In generale lo consiglio e ci sono molti posti a sedere.
