Starbucks Canongate in Edinburgh, City of

Ordered a large cup of latte . The texture of the milk was just not right. The barista didn’t pay attention at all. Very disappointed.

We went in for a quick hot drink against my better judgement. The service was very slow, the 3 young members of staff were too busy chatting amongst themselves to worry about the customer. I had a tea which was quite simply the worst I have ever tasted. It looked like dishwater & tasted of nothing. The toilet floor was soaking & generally unkempt. Most of the empty tables were dirty. It's a shame considering that most customers were tourists & it's giving a bad impression of Edinburgh.

The location is near the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The place is a bit messy during a rainy day though.

I ventured into this Starbucks and it’s one that impressed me. Because of its location in the heart of old Edinburgh it’s going to be busy with both tourists and students. There’s also nearby offices to keep the staff on their toes. I popped in just after nine and it was surprising quiet. There were two members of staff who chatted away and seemed to be laid back. It’s quite spacious, more so than what you think it is form the outside. There’s a scattering of the trademark tables you expect with the chain. It’s got a great personal touch with a notice board full of postcards handwritten by customers and details of charitable events. I sat at a table overlooking the street where I was able to enjoy my coffee, watch Edinburgh stroll past and plan my next visit.

Im Starbucks Canonagte fühlt man sich wie in jedem Starbucks zuhause, gut die Muffins sind vielleicht von einer anderen Sorte :-) aber sonst ist das Angebot und die Preise ungefähr gleich.

Come tutti i Starbucks sparsi nel mondo offre sempre buoni prodotti anche se un po' cari! Il mio preferito è muffins e cappuccino. Consigliato!

This Starbucks is located at cannon gate. It’s a quite place with decent seating, we ordered for a hot chocolate and some almonds. The staff is very friendly,free wifi facility. Nice place to get a break.

I am not Starbuck Fan, but this store I had quite nice experience. Friendly staffs, clean environment and toilet, not too many people even there were many on Royal Miles due to festival.

I just did not enjoy the coffee. It tasted terrible and bitter. The price was too expensive and there was inadequate numbers of staff.

We popped in here after a long wintery hike up to Arthur’s Seat. The staff were very friendly, the place was clean and it was a lovely atmosphere. Definitely one of the best Starbucks I’ve been in.

Stopped in for a warm pick-me-up while walking the royal mile. Perfectly normal Starbucks from my perspective, with better than average people watching out the front window. Soya latte was good as expected.

Dit is een ruime Starbucks in het midden van het centrum. De kaart is weinig verrassend, hetzelfde als elke andere Starbucks. De bediening was aardig en vlot en het is een pluspunt dat er genoeg ruimte is om te zitten.

Recommended for good wi-fi if you need it fastly. Coffee is not the best, maybe because Starbucks it's not so good. But if you need to chill for a while, it's a good place

Generic Starbucks but it has its own charm of history. Situated on the Royal Mile it gives you a nice view of the city while you enjoy your coffees .

This starbucks store is lousy. All tables are dirty and partly not cleared. The staff rather talk to each other than to create order. If I were the boss here I would dismiss the staff. Today is Monday 10.10.2017.

Es regnete stark, wir wollten uns ein bisschen trocknen und aufwärmen. Deshalb wählten wir Starbucks. Als wir hereinkamen schwatzte das Personal miteinander. Nur wenige Gäste waren anwesend. Es war also nicht viel zu tun. Das Personal zählte drei Personen. Alle Tische waren sehr schmutzig, nichts abgeräumt. Es schien niemand zu interessieren. Wir wählten uns den "saubersten" Tisch aus. Wir tranken einen Kaffee. Niemand vom Personal kümmerte die schmutzigen Tische während wir dort waren. Mehrere Gäste schauten herein und als sie die schmutzigen Tische sahen verliessen sie das Lokal wieder. Als wir das Lokal verliessen, waren alle Tische noch gleich schmutzig oder sogar noch schmutziger als wir hereingekommen sind. Als Chef dieses Lokals würde ich das anwesende Personal auf der Stelle feuern. Wir waren am 10.7. 2017 dort.

I've got nothing bad to say about this place! Ok, it's a bit small, I'll give you that. But since the place has never been THAT crowded during my visits here, I don't know if e.g. the sound level gets terrible when every chair is taken by people who are chattering. But anyway, I've only had good experiences here! The staff is friendly, the coffee tastes great and I've loved the music that has been playing - on a very good level of volume! So, thumbs up and keep it up, I'll definitely return here in the future when I visit Edinburgh again :)

I simply do not believe a 'chainstore coffee shop' should be on an historic Edinburgh street. It does not 'fit in' with suroundings. I was dragged in by friends. Prices are ridiculous and staff took ages to serve - were non-chalant in their manner!!

We got into Edinburgh very early and were severely caffeine deprived. Fortunately, this Starbucks was just feet from our hotel. Sufficiently fortified, we were able to make our first trek up the Royal Mile to the Castle and back. We got coffee here the 2nd day in the city as well. Starbucks is Starbucks whether you're in the US or Edinburgh. In fact, our tour guide called it "the American Embassy." :-D

Venus pour nous abriter de la pluie et se détendre un peu autour d'un café, nous avons été très bien accueillis par du personnel chaleureux et compétant. Serviables, les serveuses et serveurs n'ont pas hésiter à nous renseigner et discuter un peu avec nous. Ces gens ont le sens de l'accueil du touriste, qualité qui manque parfois en France...

After a Long Journey of nearly 7hrs in the car from Hitchin Hertfordshire. It was a great relief to stop and have a tasty coffee. Shame the loos were out of action due to cleaning. However the Guys behind the counter we're fabulous. A cheery Smile and a warm welcome, then a seat and chance to savour the very welcome coffee while planning my stay, and wifi to let the world know I had arrived.

Nada de especial acerca desse Starbucks. Fica no padrão médio da rede: ambiente relativamente agradável, comida legal e cafés naquele estilo já bem manjado. Essa loja não é particularmente ampla ou confortável, como outros Starbucks em Edimburgo, mas serve para um descanso rápido entre um passeio e outro – fica estrategicamente posicionado entre o Holyrood Palace e o restante da Royal Mile.

We had a drink this afternoon. My coffee was nice and tasty (as usual). You can visit Dunbar gardens right in front of this coffee shop, they are small but lovely 🌲🌳

Depois de um dia de andanças pela cidade, e especialmente depois de descer a Royal Mile toda, comecei a subir de novo (a ideia era chegar em Princes Street e pegar um ônibus dali). Quando vi essa Starbucks não resisti. Meus pés estavam cansados demais e eu precisava sentar antes de reiniciar a jornada. Vi que faltavam 15 minutos para a loja fechar, mas era o que eu precisava para recarregar as energias.

Ho fatto colazione qui una volta, durante il mio soggiorno a Edimburgo. Il cappuccino è buono e molto abbondante. Dovete assolutamente provare lo Shortbread con le chips di cioccolato. Squisito.

Il bar è come sono di solito i bar di starbucks, abbastanza puliti, con vivo medio e caffè di vario tipo ma sempre caffè dal buon gusto.

I come here thrice a week to have breakfast before heading to uni. Hey ho, it's a Starbucks, what do you expect?! I have porridge with honey and coffee, under a fiver. Enough. Free wi fi and plugs to charge the machine. Nice view on canongate... but the star is Maria, the lady who serves me every morning! A smiling, little lady who makes my day, every time! And so I come back, over and over again!

Up at the bottom of the Royal Mile this wonderful little Starbucks is tucked away. Wonderful because unlike it's busier cousins up by Princes Street or the top of the Mile, you can actually get a seat! The staff are helpful and nice. There is a nice touch or individuality to it to separate it from the usual faceless generic Bucks elsewhere (they currently have a board full of Starbucks themed drawings which is lovely). If I had to choose my favourite in Edinburgh it's this one and it's the one I've used the most in the past ten years. I love it just because.

This is the local branch near my work. I am here at least twice a week (depending on how work is going). The staff remember me and know my drink order. They are always very friendly and efficient. The inside was recently updated and while it wasn't a radical departure from what was here before, there were a few key improvements. One was the change to the open fridge units where you can pick up your own sandwich from the selection. Previously you had to ask for everything and it held everything up. The most significant improvement was the change from the "squish your sandwich to death" sandwich irons to the convector type ovens which not only don't squish the sandwich to death but also have it ready in significantly less time. Sandwich and drink are usually ready super quick and you are on your way. I have only sat in occasionally, this place is often busy and I prefer to eat at my desk but if you can get a seat, it's a pleasant place to rest while you eat/drink. If there are any downsides, it's the tourists during the summer who slow everything down but like all things, nothing can be perfect. I like the fact that with Starbucks, I can get the thing that I know I will like almost without fail so I find it a reliable friend in the battle against hunger, thirst, and stress. Highly recommended.

Is it Starbucks or is it Costa. Starbucks wins hands down for us. We had popped our heads in a few tea shops and didn't fancy any plus I wanted to use the wi-fi and toilet. Usual mocha's for us and a little chill.

A group of us went in during a break from uni and we were greeted warmly by the staff. I tried the mocha frappucino which I had never had before and loved it!!

Popped in for a coffee and to use the wiffy, so sat down by a plug socket on a table recently vacated. I was in there an hour and at no stage did the staff clear down the table. Woeful

We do not have Starbucks in my home country and my children and I were eager to try out this legendary chain. We each ordered a hot chocolate or coffee and a sandwich. The beverages were ok but nothing special. The sandwiches were dreadful -- dry, tasteless, with very little in them, and expensive for what they were (3.49-3.99 pounds each, $5.30-$6). The falafel wrap in particular was like eating cardboard. I don't know, maybe we just had bad luck that day, but I can't see what people rave about here.

Our first visit on Saturday was great. Our second visit on Sunday was the exact opposite. Even though we ordered the exact same drink the cashier informed us that we were ordering it wrong, and would only place the order for a more expensive drink. They then gave us the wrong size on one drink because she had asked for 1 shot but in a venti, ended up with a medium (i forget the name). I asked for soy and was given milk, luckily I caught it before I drank it and the barista fixed it. The cashier "D" he was so horrible that I had to email corporate. So if you see him as the cashier be prepared!

Estava bem frio nesta época do ano, e a melhor coisa é tomar um chocolate quente. O atendimento foi muito bom, e apesar do espaço estar cheio, ainda sim era bem aconchegante.

It's just before 8am Tuesday morning and I'm heading up to the Royal Mile from Parliament. I'm dying for an iced mocha. Not many places are open yet. I also have a wee dug with me. Ah! Starbucks! I check the door and surrounds for any No Dogs/Guide Dogs Only sign, but find nothing. The counter is right by the door also, so I wouldn't have to trek through the shop and offend their customers. (Yes, some dog owners think a lot about their actions.) It's nice an quiet also. Out of respect, I still lift my dog onto my arm before I enter. OCH! The first thing I get is a real snotty Excuse Me! Hey girl, you know what, the shop is quiet, it's very early in the morning and so you could at least say Good Morning first. And if you really thought outside the box - and put your customers first - you could ask me what I want and then request that I wait outside. I only wanted a drink to go you know. Gawd happy day!

This Starbucks is a little bit of the beaten track but situated on the High Street is still well frequented by both locals and tourists. It can be busy but if you are lucky to get a table worth spending some time watching the world go by in this historical part of Edinburgh.

Two coffees, Two Cakes & Two sandwiches almost £20.00 - Too expensive! Staff were friendly but the food was just disappointing £4.00 for a panini that had been squashed and the very little filling that was in it ended up in the bag.

Went here on Monday night five minutes before it closed and the girl that served me was very nice and did not try to hurry me. I would have appreciated if she had offered to heat up my wrap, but again the store was due to close. Latte was really nice and still hot when I took it back to my hotel down the road. I have to confess, I loathe these coffee chains - and this only added to my case. Early on a Saturday morning so had not been open for business long and all the above complaints. The museli and yoghurt were good, the croissant very disappointing. The latte acceptable. Won't allow myself to be talked into going inside another one for a long time.

It is the same Starbucks as everywhere. Not special. Only it is in the center of the city and close to places to visit. After a long walk on the Royal Mile you can have your coffee if you like Starbucks' coffee.

It is a typical Starbucks at the end of the Royal Mile down by Holyrood Palace. It has coffee, sandwiches, sweets, water, etc. It was convenient to our hotel and we went there every morning for coffee. Clean place and friendly staff.

As Starbucks go it's ok. Could be a lot cleaner and drinks could be hotter. Staff very friendly and can point you in the direction of good eating places.
