They really need to fix their bathroom situation

Very small place and a bit chaotic at peak time (understandable for the area it's in). They make coffee and drinks and have a fridge with ready-made sandwiches that warm you up on the spot. It is a good place to eat more economically while being in the center.

RACIST !!!! I recently had an extremely disappointing and hurtful experience at Café Nero. Upon ordering my coffee, I noticed an empty seat and asked if I could sit there. Despite this, I was repeatedly told there were no available seats and was handed my coffee as if I was just supposed to leave. I insisted there was a free spot, and when I pointed it out, the staff reluctantly agreed but initially refused to clear the table, which still had cups from the previous customers. When they finally cleared the table, it was done with an audible sigh, as if my request was unreasonable. This entire situation made me feel unwelcome and disrespected. It was hard to ignore the feeling that this treatment was rooted in racism, given how differently I was treated compared to other customers. No one should have to experience this kind of prejudice, especially not in a place where you just want to enjoy a coffee. Café Nero needs to seriously address their customer service and ensure all patrons are treated with respect and dignity.

I went to this cafe twice. I loved the atmosphere, very cozy although small. The guys who serve are very friendly and the service is fast. If you are lucky and find a small table next to a window, you have a direct view of the Royal Mile. Otherwise, if it's not too cold you can sit at the little tables outside and enjoy, in addition to the coffee, the music of the bagpipes.

We were there several times on our trip. It is right where the tours leave, so we took the opportunity to have breakfast there before leaving. It is literally next to mercat cross. The best coffee I had in Edinburgh, since the rest was like watered down. The pastries were very good, not too much variety. The prices are somewhat expensive, but it is normal for where it is located. The service is a bit slow and the staff could be a little more friendly. It has few tables, so it is not easy to find a free one. We did because we went very early in the morning.

Staff is nice, fast and efficient. Coffee is good and they have vegan sausage rolls and pastries. Worth the stop for a quick bite and coffee.

The café is good and the workers are friendly, but all the muffins, desserts and pastries are not halal unfortunately 😔

This is a cute shop and has a good ham & cheese croissant! Although, if you are planning on getting here early before a tour, don’t expect the service to be very friendly. She was very rude and had an attitude about us trying to order coffee and food.

filthy toilets, disgusting dirty tables rubbish on floors. Coffee stains up walls chipped Caffe Nero stickers on windows badly put on. - laughable! don't waste your time or money visiting this appalling place. I would think Edinburgh was a prime store.

This place needs shutting down, it is filthy! I’ve never been to an eating establishment as dirty as this! There are fresh mouse droppings in the corner where we sat! If this is the level of cleanliness on view, what is it like behind the scenes?? Head office needs to sort this out ASAP

Very cosy inside, truly a great place for lunch and to relax. Thankfully, this café doesn't have too many tourists.

We believe your cappuccinos need to be smaller and less milky and definitely stronger in coffee taste. We therefore changed to cortados, some tremendously good, others too weak to mention. The many many coffees we've purchased from you during our journey through Ireland and Scotland judged you as the best of the bunch but you need to improve on maintaining a consistency in the quality of the coffee being dispensed

I visit CN very often and I'm just disappointed, I ordered my usual pistachio iced latte and I know how it should like like, a little green-ish - this time I had no pistachio syrup at all. asked nicely to remake it and they just gave me more syrup into my ICED coffee and it didn't want to melt. just had bottom full of pistachio syrup. toilets were disgusting. bins overfull with used tampons on top... the worst CN in whole Uk.

Possibly the worst coffee we’ve ever had! My latté tasted like water with milk and a tiny amount of bad quality coffee. My daughter’s mocca frappucino was lukewarm (no ice), and didn’t taste like mocca at all. Beware!

I have to agree with the other reviews about the coffee quality here. It was really embarrassing to bring my Spanish relatives to this cafe to find out they use a quarter of the coffee than I'm used to in the rest of the UK. I ordered cortados and seriously, there was no taste of coffee, only milk. When I asked if they could be stronger, I was told I had to pay for more double espressos to make them stronger even though we didn't even have the coffee we paid for in the drinks in the first place. It was so disappointing that the tables were dirty too, but that's more excusable for a busy location. Overall, the cafes in these popular tourist locations are best to be avoided if you don't want to sour the nice memories you have of a trip to Edinburgh.

Coffee was great. Could not work the lock on the toilets. Asked and was given back chat and then the assistant told us "she must have the magic touch" Totally unacceptable . Keep away. 3.9 out of 5 is poor.

One star just for the location, but services are zero. The staff who works there are also rude, she made me wait for more than 10 minutes while serving others and mine was already ready but she didn’t. Went here on Sunday. Fork and teaspoon were dirty with no replacement available. The milk jug was dirty and to add insult to injury, our blueberry scone cheese was awful as it was stale. We will definitely not be going back.

By far the filthiest Caffe Nero we visited. Great staff; great drinks and has the old coffeehouse feel, however management pays little attention to cleaning and less to the details, the floor, window sills, the bathroom. Staff seems to be running running running at all times in this very popular spot, happily professionally serving the never ending hordes, so I cannot fault them.

1st before I pay, I ASKED if the wifi is good for use there. That is my priority. The stuff does not care that much, told me yes. But during my time there, the wifi connection sucks, they asked me to use the neighbor resturant’s wifi which also disconnects all the time. Very unhappy experience, since they could have told me their wifi is poor but they have good coffee.

Rude Eastern European lady on the morning shift of 22 Jan 2023 with an attitude. Not accepting cash and showed an attitude when servicing over the counter.

Dining was very crushed,too many tables squeezed into a very small space, people were standing outside with there drinks n 🥪. Coffee tasted lovely. Staff were pleasant enough, I wouldn't want to work in that atmosphere,

The position of the bar is great, in the middle of The Royal Mile but the Staff seemed unsociable and almost inattentive. If you asked for something it seemed they wanted to liquidate you as soon as possible. We got a muffin and a croissant. The muffin was dry and almost inedible, it looked old. Perception of poor cleanliness on the tables.

We stopped in here shortly before a tour we booked and it was super warm and cozy (a welcome relief from the cool, rainy Scottish weather). I ordered a luxury hot chocolate with whip and it was AMAZING. They use a dark chocolate recipe and it was to die for. Unfortunately, that was the only menu item I tried, but their pastries and coffees being served to other patrons looked good as well.
