Been here on a number of occasions. Although the staff are friendly, the organisation of the team is not always the best as results in waiting around for your coffee longer than typical at a starbucks,

The poet Kate Tempest is the latest cultural flagbearer to pour scorn on the Starbucks-isation of urban life. Her track Perfect Coffee bemoans the gentrification of hitherto earthy neighbourhoods where pumpkin spice lattes have presumably vapourised hopscotch and Union Jack bunting. With this in mind, I am making this a tale of two coffees and plan to also review the Change Please community coffee van which pitches up a muffin’s throw away. Maybe Tempest should have entitled her ode Perfect Tea, because Starbucks is in the middle of a push on the health conscious end of the hot beverage market. Slotted neatly under Canary Wharf DLR, the recently refurbished outlet is one of two under 1 Canada Square, the country’s now second tallest building. So not just corporate coffee then, but corporate coffee in steel colonnade-lined territory that hip hop poets probably see as something akin to Mordor. Muttering apologies to generation rent, I picked over the idiot-proof menus which range from lattes and cheese & marmite sarnies to fruit smoothies and the Teavana range. The latter includes the ‘Youthberry’ white tea and ‘Jasmine Pearl’ green tea, aimed at laying a trademarked mermaid print on the age of flaxseed and wheatgrass shots. The refit added a forward till to the queuing area and an LCD-panel display with bold white typeface to spare squinting. It was a model in efficiency that would have the head honchos in Seattle purring over their prototype mochas, my £4.14 travelling electronically somewhere into their cross-continental coffers. Despite the chain's commitment to ethical and local initiatives, it's still a bit of a soulless experience. Keeping it seasonal, I ordered a slice of pumpkin spice loaf from the till-side cabinet and an hibiscus tea variety promoted in a free taster presentation on the counter. Served with a smile and casual efficiency by Sebastian I pitched up at one of the clutch of seats under the railway bridge outside. The cake was moist and rich but solidly textured with deep flavour and crunchy pumpkin seeds. The full leaf tea was steaming hot and retained the fragrance of the plant without suffering the dull and sticky fate of many herbal brews. It’s not hard to fathom why the world's biggest coffee brand continues to invite queues to its counter, as on this day. Whatever one could say about Starbucks, the product is as seductive as ever. And Sebastian deserves a raise.

Lugar legal, vale a pena conhecer mesmo sendo um pouco agitado demais e as vezes o atendimento acaba ficando meio conturbado. O preço não é tão bom mas é tudo bem gostoso.

On the 27th of October at 18.40, I stood at the counter and waited to be served. There were two staff members who looked like they were busy, so I waited. After about 5 minutes, I made eye contact with the man and he did not acknowledge me or even explain why there was a delay. I left afterwards and went to Starbucks where the service was by far better. This was the Black Sheep Coffee at Jubilee Place Canary Wharf.

Visited this place on Saturday night and they were letting in groups of six not from same family’s. Groups of friends. The ladies toilet was disgusting sick in the sinks that had not been cleaned up so you couldn’t wash your hands as many people as you could get in the toilet. Management need to check on this establishment.

Total disaster of a restaurant. Food was poor quality, understaffed and decor was rotting away. No longer a restaurant by the looks of it.
