I'll keep this review simple. Great food, with great company and the staff are great and attentive. The mushroom chilli was amazing . Compliments to the chefs. And compliments to Michelle for picking up on my diary allergy for dessert 😇 . Vegan ice cream was lovely and so was the pear and pistachio tart. I want more of the tart 🤤. Looking forward to coming again , next visit to Edinburgh 🤤.

Service a bit slow but they're busy. So many dogs inside! Amazing. Food is delicious. Edit: A year or so later I just want to emphasize the fact that I've discussed this place repeatedly both with friends from the UK and friends visiting the UK. Specifically how amazing a dog-friendly bar is, but also my main memory is bringing my mom back here on our last day in the city and some gigantic four legged cloud named George came barreling up to us like HELLO WELCOME TO STARBANK and the staff was like omg sorry about George and I was like ?????? The food was good but George was the star. Literally this place has left immaculate vibes on my soul.

The Starbank is a favourite for Friday tea usually once a month or so. The food is excellent - recommend the Korean Chicken burger but watch out for the red chillies which are really hot (not a criticism). The staff are excellent, attentive but not in your face. Great pub.

Sunday lunch with some of the family. Dishes are always cooked perfectly. Had the steak & ale pie today with a beef dripping gravy, mash & hishi cabbage. Although not on the starkbanks menu, a greene king favourite of ours is the roast chicken or beef yorkshire pudding wraps, which tastes out of this world We found this dish at another greene king, The Olde Rooms in Weymouth, Dorset. After my main, I chose the sticky toffee pudding with custard and a soft drink. I have also ordered the salt & pepper squid starter before and recommend. The Starbank Inn sells blue label non alcohol lagers in bottles for those who, like me, have made the choice to no longer drink alcohol but have no problems sitting in the company with others at our table that do and having something similiar. It's always a delight dining at the Starbank Inn.

I've changed my mind about the Starbank. I first thought it was the poorer cousin of the nearby Old Chain Pier. I was wrong. Starbank is rich in atmosphere, dogs and friendly staff. Sure, it looks busy when you walk in... and it probably will be because a nice pub like this is popular. I go around the corner to the table service area. It's often more quiet although you do need to eat. It's a Bellhaven pub, so you might already know the menu, but until you try it you can't know how well the kitchens here do at making it tasty. The burger and pint deal is my favourite. I mentioned the dogs, right? This is a doggo pub. I'm disappointed if there isn't a cute fuffball to distract me.

So as my son was celebrating his 12th birthday we decided to go to this pub for a meal and watch the England vs Switzerland match over the weekend . We was asked have we booked a table . As we didn't we was worried. Anyway the manager asked are you dining with us tonight we said yes please . She asked are we drinking alcohol and did we want to watch the football we again said yes please . She seated us and our orders taken . Not a problem. As my son finished his meal the manager said she couldn't serve us alcohol anymore as our child had stopped eating . So we ordered desert and got served from another member of staff . The manger then came back over and asked us about the drinks . We said another staff member served us as my son had ordered desert . She wasn't happy . Couple of minutes just before my son had finished his desert the manager harassed us with questions about when are we leaving, have we finished our drinks . Even tho clearly you could see we still had our drinks full on the table . 40 minutes into the first half she comes over again without asking picks up my son coca cola drink sticks her nose inside the glass and sniffs it . My family was in shock . Never witnessed anything in my life . She just says just checking. Didn't know what to say to her . Absolutely shocking behaviour from a owner of a public house . Never going again and warn people if you have kids do not visit for a meal 😡😡😡

Popped in on a Sunday lunchtime and hadn't booked...but there were lots of tables available cos its surprising how big this place is. We sat at a window seat and enjoyed the view over the water. The server was really pleasant and courteous. Explained the specials and went into detail without being boring. My partner had the Sunday roast pork which looked delicious and he ate every morsel although it was a really generous portion. I had the steak and ale pie which was absolutely delicious! Light flaky puff pastry with lots of gravy ...topped up by an extra portion on the side!! WOW! Amazing...big chunky chips salted and cabbage grilled ..again a really generous portion. I wish we lived nearer this FAB pub...it would definitely be our local! Thanks for the hospitality.

Disappointing to enter a busy local & regular boozer, in the early evening on Easter Day with friends, to receive no welcome from staff behind the bar, most of whom were grouped by the coffee machine, looking as though they really didn’t want to interact with customers. The service when it came from Tony and then Adam was helpful and efficient. Natalie as ever was warm and welcoming when floor walking. Sometimes this place is great, other times really not.

We were passing the Starbank Inn on the way back from a nice family easter walk. The kids were thirsty so we thought this place looks nice, lets pop in. They have a very small sign around foot level as you walk in the door which says something along the lines of "children only allowed in for dining and not just drinks". I thought that's fine we'll order some food. We ordered some drinks, a kids meal and a couple of portions of chips. The waitress didn't say anything after our order, just walked away which we found strange. She returned a few minutes later saying they'll let it slide on this occasion but in future the adults MUST order a main meal or we cannot have kids in. This seems completely over the top and it should state on the sign at the entrance that an adult MUST purchase a main meal in order to allow children in. It's a shame that they discriminate against families with kids in this way as it seems a nice pub/restaurant and would have been somewhere we would be likely to visit more regularly. Looks like the old chain pier will be a better option for us in the future.

Fantastic pub located 15 minutes walk along the promenade from Wardie Bay. Alternatively you can get the 23 bus along Ferry Road and walk down the hill. This place is warm and friendly. There is a great buzz when live sports events are on. Often there is a raffle for charity and a free pie at half time! It is a popular, dog-friendly venue. There are some benches out front next to the park, and also a small beer garden to the rear. There is a disabled toilet and a wheelchair accessible entrance to the side of the building.

I had been in the bar on a midweek afternoon and checked the poster to see what live sport would be shown as I had wanted to watch the Celtic v Livingston Scottish Cup quarter-final on Sunday 10/3/24. This match was listed. When I entered the bar I noticed that none of the screens were showing this game. When I asked if the TVs would be turned over at the final whistle of the English football match the response was "Aye, obviously". Therefore I expected to still be able to see 70 minutes of the game. When I mentioned to another member of staff that advised me I could sit at a table briefly even though it had a reservation sign on it, I asked "Will I be able to stay until the end of the game at 4.15?" I was then asked which game I was looking to see. When I responded "Celtic v Livingston" I was advised that this game would not be shown as previous experience had shown that rugby and English football were far more popular than Scottish football (other than games involving Hearts and Hibs). I pointed out that I had checked in advance that the game would be shown and had travelled specifically to watch the game as I support Livingston. I did receive an apology from one member of staff; however, another staff member said "You should have gone to the game in person" (or words to that effect). Furthermore, when I ordered a coffee as I was looking for something non-alcoholic, a staff member made a comment about going to a pub and ordering coffee. I am extremely disappointed that the advertised sporting fixture was not shown (if the posters are sent in pre-printed, then a marker pen or some correcting fluid could easily be used to make any changes). The response of "Aye, obviously" (which turned out to be wrong) was uncalled for: "Yes" would have been a far more polite response if it had been true. I do not believe the staff should be making any judgements about what people drink or instructing people to spend their money on train and match tickets rather than in their pub. To be fair, my experience on this occasion was not typical and was perhaps influenced by the staff being under stress due to being exceptionally busy with Mother's Day and custom for the sports events that were being shown. When I have been here at quieter times I have received good service and been able to see my choice of sport.

We had a meal in the Starbank for the first time recently. I had the pub classic Steak and Ale pie meal. Given the selection of main meals available I was surprised when I checked with the staff that there was no option to have seasonal vegetables. The steak pie, which was lovely, came with chips/mash and a wedge of cabbage – a vegetable I’m not too keen on. My wife is vegetarian and she chose to have the Salad with halloumi as it was the only dish to suit her. The salad was OK but there was only a very small amount of Halloumi. Given this was her equivalent of my decent sized steak pie, she was disappointed with the size of the serving. It was fortunate that she ordered a side of chips! This meal seemed to us to be rather over-priced for what you got. The Starbank is a great traditional pub to visit and we’d go back sometime but just for drinks I suspect.

As two of our party have mobility issues they sat us near where we came in ,a change to where they had originally had us placed which was very considerate of them. We had main meals only and they were delicious. Fish and chips. Burger and chips and i had the steak pie which came with chunky chips. The steak pie was delicious, the meat just fell apart and was so tender, and the little pot of gravy made with beef dripping was so so tasty. The food was quick to come and piping hot . I like this place, we’re here relatively regularly. The staff are always lovely and it’s a pretty wee place. It’s been a while this time between visits and I was a wee bit disappointed this time around. While the staff were still lovely, and the place as pretty as ever, the food is no longer value for money. While it is still delicious, the size of fish you get for nearly £18 was ludicrous, if I’m really honest. I didn’t exactly leave full. The prices have gone up and the portion sizes have gone way down and, unfortunately, I just can’t see myself returning any time soon as it really is terribly value for money. Real shame because the fish really is tasty, I’d just expect a lot more for the very high price.

It’s a lovely pub right on the Granton sea front with amazing views across to Kirlcady. ( weather permitting) . The staff are welcoming and accommodating and it seems will always greet you with a smile and be personable. The food isn’t fancy but wholesome pub food , efficient , great service it’s quick and will fill your belly. It’s has a family feel and many from trinity , Newhaven and granton areas from just up the road go to enjoy a family occasion, meeting friends or just a quiet pint after a hards days work. It’s great for tourists visiting the harbour as you can get the taste of friendly Edinburgh local pub. Big sports day it’s transforms in a lively enthusiastic well mannered but packed house with all smiles. Only negative the kitchen should stay open later as there are many tourists during high season .

This was my favourite Edinburgh bar. Used to have a drink there 3 or 4 times a year on my city breaks. Sadly last week a barman just ignored my wife and myself when we tried to get served. He appeared more interested in someone behind us who I presume he knew? The bar was only moderately busy. We had to leave and will never return.

We were visiting Leith for the morning and decided to stop by the Grannary for Brunch. We were welcomed and got a booth at the back of the restaurant. Our host Steph was really helpful and attentive throughout our visit and meal. She kindly provided us with crayons and paper for the kids, which makes a big difference as a parent. The food was served pretty quick, our Smoked Salmon on a Hash Brown, with a perfect poached egg was fantastic. My only comment would be that there should not have been a need for a Television within the restaurant, especially as it was just showing a film and we always find it's a distraction for the kids when trying to enjoy a meal. Just an observation, otherwise the team did a fantastic job and we'd definitely be back. Thank you

The cafe used to be dog friendly inside which was great after a walk with the dog in Holyrood Park. They've recently changed to not allow dogs inside the cafe which is very disappointing. The cashier was also unhelpful and unfriendly.

I wanted to love this Indian street food spot, it had a cool vibe, smelled great, laid back and great soundtrack. But the food was tasteless. First, while they promote the Bombay sapphire gin, they simply won’t make their also advertised gin martini out of it, even for an up-charge. I rolled and took their version which was a citrusy lime affair, when everyone who matters knows gin martinis are meant to be served dirty and with olives. Maybe that’s the New York girl in me, but moving on, the Papadam had not an ounce of cumin, seed or powder, just puffed dough. Similarly, the Haka noodles were mush and honestly tasted like nothing except maybe vinegar. Maybe the mains are better, but I’d try your luck elsewhere. My 3 purchased items are all going back mostly untouched.
