Historic and cosy pub, the atmosphere is fantastic. Food is very decent, not necessarily a gastropub, but food is cooked fresh. The burgers are good, and the Detroit style pizzas are nice too. Great selection of beers. Board games also available, some for young kids. By far the biggest draw is historic atmosphere.

Great staff, pub & drink options. Always lovely to go to the garden during the summer. - Problem I find with it is the other people there, very lads lads at times & rude . Specially later or during sports (the other customers, not the staff)

Had a bottomless brunch today at 3pm. Darcy was our server and she was absolutely brilliant. Very friendly, helpful and efficient. Would definitely recommend

Come in here quite a fair bit with friends we all love coming in for a decent drink we get along with all the staff but Tyler is just brilliant will definitely be back again

Has 4 or five real ales on tap, and the quality is high. They also have a loyalty card where you can get your 7th pint free.

A more British pub with burgers and fish and chips. Very good cider.

One of (if not) the best pub in Bishop. Lovely atmosphere, decent offerings which attract a younger but discerning crowd. Sport on telly too. One of my favourites places to visit locally. A must visit if you are in town

Honestly, this is probably the worst service I have ever received. Came here as we were staying over before flying tomorrow, parked in the car park that was outside the pub- there was no signs outside stating it was only for staff and I was asked to move my car so a member of staff could park their car. I was polite and did so, even though I felt that this was actually quite rude considering it was a car park outside the pub. My food arrived whilst I was moving my car and my friend asked the waitress if they could keep my food warm whilst I was moving my car, which was met with a massive attitude from the member of staff. It then took a further 20 mins for our food to come back out when I got back, and it was luke warm by this point. This was discussed with the manager on charge of the shift, which she was apologetic but there was no compensation and we were not checked on again for the rest of our evening. We had also ordered a bottle of wine for £30, which they didn’t have (it happens!) but then tried to replace it with a bottle that was £20, with no mention of a refund of the price difference until we asked about this. An incredibly disappointing experience, not a place to visit to get you into the holiday spirit!

Rude bouncers, and an absurd no joggers rule so we couldn't even enter the establishment.

Used to be my go to pub because of the atmosphere. However, found the staff surly, none of them looked happy to be there and only got a smile from the barman when I asked if he was ok! It wasn’t busy so I couldn’t even blame that. It’s a shame as good service adds to a great atmosphere in a pub.

Great pub, alas the food has gone downhill badly, it used to have a great selection now it's pizza, burgers, wraps or wings. They used to sell a more varied range and some really excellent pies, now it's a shadow of its former self. That said, if your popping in for a drink only, it is well worth visiting.

Lunch for 4 people. 2 of them vegan. glad to see a seperate vegan menu, but why not have it all on the same menu, if we hadnt asked we wouldnt have known it was available? Food was good, beer good

Had a great experience in The Star, spectacular service and great food too. Darcey behind played a big part in how fantastic our experience was. Would definitely reccomend to a friend and would definitely come back myself.

Always have such a fantastic time at the Star! We popped in for bottomless brunch and would not recommend it enough. Darcy took care of us and was so incredibly nice and attentive. The food by Aiden was amazing, and they always made sure our drinks were never empty! Special shout out to Elliott who is just so welcoming everytime we come - our dog is always so excited to see him!

Chips were cold but very good in doing a new batch even tho a pop in the microwave to reheat would have sufficed

We went for bottomless brunch and Grace served us. She was brilliant. She made really lovely mocktails for our friend who wasn’t drinking and looked after us really well. Slightly disappointed at the premium menu option and that normal draft cocktails were not available on the normal price menu, but the ones available were ok and the food was good too.

We had a lovely evening here with good food and drinks and Tyler was amazing and really attentive 😊

Popped in Monday evening for a drink was served straight away wasn’t sure what craft beer I wanted from the wide range they offer so I asked if I can try one or 2 and the lad behind the bar let me, think his name also was Tyler! Would definitely recommend to other craft beer users!

Been coming in for a few months now, me and my friends love it here always clean and tidy, staff are always going above and beyond especially Darcey on a Saturday!

One of the staff here is extremely rude. On new years she approached myself and a friend in a very confrontational way for "staring at her." I have no idea who this person is therefore no reason to even glance in her direction, yet got threatened to be kicked out and banned. When later walking past her to the toilets we got some horrible looks and also heard her loudly complaining to a coworker. Luckily got some of it on video so will again be sending to management but ruined our night there. My friend has apparently had a previous similar issue and complained however nothing was done about it, completely unacceptable to be hiring staff like this.

Christmas was absolutely rammed. But really good atmosphere. Only had one drink whilst shopping

Waited 45 minutes at the bar for a drink, staff chatting between themselves instead of serving, very rude and incompetent teenagers running the bar as opposed to actual bartenders

Had bottomless brunch. Food was really nice. Our server Darcie was lovely and kept coming over to see if we wanted more drinks which usually doesn't happen at a bottomless brunch! Really good value for money. Definitely recommend

Visted last saturday, the pub was extremely busy due to the christmas market. I was served by a lovely lady Darcey who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience! Will be sure to return

Too dirty , dirty tables , glasses left for hours without being collected, and too way to expensive pint of brewdog 7 quid, more than London...

Stopped here for a drink after shopping. Perfect pub for cold Saturday afternoon.

Unsure who does the playlist for music but it’s really good.

The Star is my official local. I visit two to three times a week. It's a sterling pub that attracts all age groups from all backgrounds, regulars and otherwise. There is a healthy rotation of good casks (which are discounted with Camra) and they knock out decent burgers and pizzas. The bartenders are top notch. Grace in particular is a diamond, and is always smiling. She has our opening ales pumping before I've even asked. Can't knock that. See you there, kids!

I eat low carb mainly and the chef and manager was very accomodating , they changed the menu and cooked a very low carb meal for me.

The London Pride is not the best I’ve had and the Siren seemed a bit watery, nice place though and good service.

It's an old style pub great comfortable atmosphere for just having a drink. The menu had changed for the worst though when we visited today and the food served was not of great quality at all, it wasn't served well either with soggy salad.

Has to be the worst service ever. Also ran out of slimline tonic on a Sunday lunchtime. Very rude staff. Avoid this pub like em the plague, especially as there is so much choice in this town. Was warned about this pub, gave it a chance and wished we’d never!

First visit to Bishops Stortford. Great pub, love all the beams and the lights. Fab outdoors area and great fir watching the football. Nail biting win for the Lionesses this afternoon. Good menu - great options for all requirements including vegans. We has the sharing platter with halloumi skewers, chicken goujons, onion rings, nacho filled tortilla with cheese sauce and burnt beef ends and karaage chicken. £18:50 well worth it as fed two of us. Lovely, friendly staff too. Well worth a visit!

Pub with beer garden and very nice energy

Lovely old character pub. Stopped off for lunch. Nice little sheltered garden area out back. With 3 coloured huts to sit inside. We installed their service app and ordered our drinks and food from the table. Good friendly service, lovely lunch was had, will return 😋
