A little gem. After a horrendous drive ( very heavy rain) to Weymouth were in need of a drink. The first cafe we went to , told us they were closed (after we had sat down). Thank goodness as we then went to Stanley's and had the most amazing banana milkshake. Never tasted one like it before absolutely delicious, we went back everday we were there for the milkshakes. We also ate their the sandwiches are huge served with a lovely salad etc. The soup was fulof vegetables and very tasty, could not eat all of the large and very soft roll that accompanied it. Coffee and tea were hot , everything was served well . Tim(Stanley) and Charlotte have got the ambience just right. Lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be seeing you again next year. Thank you both.

This is no ordinary coffee shop, This is Stanleys. Doing it the Stanley way. Firstly we liked the way after ordering your meal, your server will kindly unlock the rest room for you. Another thing we liked was the small charge for tap water. We find that in far too many places these days water is available on a side table, so that any one can help themselves. I did think later that maybe we should have offered to pay for the water we used in the rest room.

We went in for breakfast and it will be our last, we were served by a very rude man , we sat at a very small table at first and we asked if we could move to a larger table, the rude man said NO as he will have to clean our table ...the breakfast was cold and extremely small portions and our tea and coffee was cold we paid £20 for that breakfast, never again...rude poor and unfriendly service

We come whenever we are in Weymouth for at least one meal, and the folks here are always friendly with probably the best food in town, certainly at these prices! The crab sandwiches are truly glorious, while the coffee is delicious. I also love the affogato as a dessert on a hot day.

A most pleasant find as we went meandering down one the main commercial streets of Weymouth. Coffee was great (one iced, one latte) and the dessert was very tasty. Most enjoyable for us as visitors to the town was the great conversation we had with the owners, Charlotte and Tim. Our hour long visit there was just perfect!

We were on a long weekend break in Weymouth to celebrate my 80th birthday and were looking for a cafe to shelter from the horrendous rain . Most were closed but we noticed this one was open so went in and how pleased we were. The atmosphere was so friendly and welcoming. The service was first class and it was obviously so clean and looked after with great pride, what food we had was of top quality and delicious. If we come to Weymouth again we will certainly make a beeline for this delightful cafe, it helped to make my 80th birthday weekend and the 200 mile journey to Weymouth a great and pleasurable time.

We visited on the 31st after a traumatic trip around around the country lanes of Dorset in a 24ft long camper. So a small back street coffee was very much needed. And I'm glad we stumbled across this one. Its a family run venture, owned by the daughter, with help from dad (I think I have that right) . The food is not pretentious, nicely made, and pretty generous portions. You order a baguette you get a warm french stick instead of the usual part baked stick that is mostly crust. And the owner makes an amazing iced coffee. Service is warm and friendly and dad wafts around cleaning tables making chit chat, with everyone. The cake is also to die for, which they were happy to box up for me to take away because I was stuffed. In fact dad came racing down the high street after us to give us our body board back that I stupidly left behind. Over all, a nice chilled out friendly chatty experience, nice simple home made food. I wish the young lady all the best with her venture.

On a visit to Weymouth in Dorset, we went for a light lunch at Stanleys coffee shop, which is centrally situated near the main shopping area. Sorry to say that after reading numerous very positive reviews on TripAdvisor (which tempted us to seek it out) we were very disappointed by the experience. It is now (after a recent change of management) very different from what was previously described. It now offers a very limited and unexciting menu. If you wanted plain soup or a baked potato or a salad, then fine, but no fish chowder or vegan options as had been reported. Call me a snob if you like, but I was surprised to see Heinz spaghetti on toast on the menu. That said, the ambience is comfortable, and service friendly, and if you are looking for a tea or coffee or a light bite in the shopping area, then fine. But don't expect more.

I was walking past this morning with my two children and it looked so inviting that we decided to pop in. It was too early for lunch so we had two hot chocolate and cappuccino, total charge £6. The cafe is spotlessly clean with a modern interior and comfortable sofas. The lunch menu looked lovely and very reasonably priced. Some other customers had cakes and scones and these looked delicious. Coffee is fairtrade and practically all soft drinks and icecreams are locally sourced. Also nice friendly service. What's not to like? There were also beautifully local crafts for sale, jewelry, and handcraft mobiles. Finally, we all love to visit a traditional British seaside town with its quaint teashops and cafes. Please support local businesses like this and leave the likes of Costa and McDonald's coffee for service stations and airports (where they belong in my opinion). If we don't then we will only have ourselves to blame when we no longer have beautiful cafe's and tea rooms such as Stanley's and our high streets and villages are overtaken with huge coffee chains.

I was in Weymouth on Friday and was looking around for somewhere to have a late breakfast - I couldn't see many places that offered vegetarian breakfasts until I found Stanleys. It was almost the time when the breakfast option (as advertised on the menu) was about to end, but the woman at the counter was very helpful and accommodating (I am a bit fussy, with particular likes etc). I asked for the vegetarian breakfast with no egg and with no butter on the toast. As you can see from the photo, the egg 'space' was obviously filled up by extra of the other breakfast components, and I was offered jam or marmalade instead of butter for my toast. The toast was made with really nice bread, by the way. They even had soya milk for the coffee! (I said I was fussy...)

On a visit to Weymouth, decided on a whim to call into this cafe for lunch. We were so glad that we did. The cafe itself is nicely decorated and has dividing screens between parts of the main cafe which is a nice touch as it adds a little privacy. The menu is quite extensive with both cold and hot options. We had baguettes which were very reasonably priced and were served with a side salad and crisps. The baguettes themselves were very generously sized and filled. It seemed as if one lady was doing everything - taking orders, preparing the food and tea and coffee, waiting at table and clearing away. She was doing a marvellous job. All in all, a very pleasant lunch and very reasonably priced too. We would certainly return here.

This café has become a favourite of mine in Weymouth. Nice food, good service and they concentrate on supplying food sourced locally and fair traded. A nice touch is that non customers are welcome to use the toilets but are asked to put a donation in one of the charity boxes. If you do want to use the loo my advice would be to sample some of their food and drink, the bread used for their toast is particularly good and chowder soup highly recommended. Best café in Weymouth in my opinion, give it a try.

What a gem! Fabulous food, brilliant Customer Service, will be back, again and again. Lovely menu, and a great cuppa. It was raining on the day of our visit, and our 12 week old puppy was welcomed in with no problems. Highly recommended, please pop in and try for yourselves.

We visited Stanley's for lunch. My wife and I had the chowder whilst my mother had ham and cheese Panini. Our chowder was lovely, packed with plenty of fish of various flavours including smoked fish, leeks etc. It was served with warm rolls, both brown and white with butter. I have previously eaten chowder in Ireland and San Francisco and I think this surpassed them all. The panini was excellent too with lots of good quality cheese and ham. We thought the price reasonable for the quality and amount of food. Overall we really enjoyed our lunch at Stanleys and will definitely go there again when we next visit Weymouth.

I take black coffee and as it’s always a bit strong for me I ask for extra hot water The owner wanted to charge me for the extra hot water really? Shame as I’m local but won’t be returning

Mixed review: A warm and friendly welcome, clean and tidy. Day one: breakfast was lovely, all appeared freshly cooked so it took a little longer, the food was nice and of great value. Feel like there was a whole can of beans for the 'beans on toast' and it was piping hot. The pot of tea was plentiful The 'coffee' milkshake was more like warm milk, not the best. Day two: ordered the thick shake this time - meant to be with ice cream and so thought that would make it cooler and tastier - wrong, it was the same as the previous visit with cream and sprinkles - not the best (if you want a nice thick iced coffee, visit the White Stones cafe). The food took a bit longer again as it was Sunday and busy. The mushroom on toast was cold but we were on a time crunch, so we couldn't send it back. The taste was nice, just cold and the black pudding was a bit on the rubbery side. Everyone else enjoyed theirs.

We stopped by Portland as tourists from the USA. We got a scone, slice of cake, and two coffees, and they were some of the best we’ve had in Europe! The staff were friendly and helpful too.

A great experience once again. 5th time at The Avenue and it never fails to deliver first class food and service. The students are a credit to the college. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail make the experience a real pleasure. We thoughally enjoyed the lunch and experience as usual and can't wait to return in the very near future.
