We had afternoon tea today. It was one of the best I have had and believe me I consider myself an expert and have had afternoon teas all over the country! We had 3 different sandwich fillings, pate on toast, sausage pinwheels (warm) and fish cakes (warm). The large scones were also warm and melted in the mouth, served with plenty of jam and clotted cream. The cakes were also delicious; chocolate brownie with strawberry cream (also melted in the mouth), macaron tart and a mini Victoria sandwich. We had a tea and a coffee, and a glass of prosecco. We also had 2 plates and separate cutlery (a sign of quality IMO) so we didn't have to get savoury leftovers on our sweet course! Service was very good too and staff extremely polite and helpful. We had the dining room to ourselves so it was very peaceful and we overlooked a pond with fountain and attractive courtyard area. I can highly recommend and will return. Oh, and it was a Groupon bargain!

Wife and myself stayed at hotel for 2 nights and loved every minute hotel is situated in lovely county setting and very peaceful. Staff are so happy and very helpful. It was so good to see all staff happy and willing to help. The breakfast in the morning was 1st class couldn't fault anything. Would definitely visit again. Didn't use the restaurant for meals as we had already made plans so couldn't make comments on the restaurant but hotel is definitely worth staying. Thanks to everyone at stallingbourgh hotel for a lovely stay

Lovely hotel, very friendly and attentive staff. We had a comfort room booked through Buy a Gift. Would have preferred a king size bed but that was an upgrade. Shower not brilliant but adequate. Food was exceptional. Lots of choice both for breakfast and dinner. Had the couples menu on the second night at £60 for two with a drink. Best risotto I have ever had and the dessert of lemon cheesecake was great. Would recommend this hotel for a short break

My husband took advantage of a Wowcher deal and booked a meal and night’s stay here for us to enjoy some ‘couple’ time. It was lovely. The Prosecco on arrival was always going to be a winner for me. The food was excellent. Very relaxed surroundings - we wandered to the back of the building and sat near the pond having our drinks next to a wedding party. Popped back in later for some dessert - the pavlova was perfect. We stayed in the bar lounge area for the rest of the evening. Again, very relaxed and chilled. Breakfast was delicious - the eggs and mushrooms were the nicest I’ve tasted in a long time. The reason I didn’t score 5 stars is because our room needed a little bit of a refresh. The bathroom particularly felt dated. BUT it was still nice all the same and would not stop us returning!

Booked afternoon tea here as a treat for my friend and myself. It looked and sounded lovely. When arrived we were shown to a room overlooking the pond and on our own. The young waiter made a joke of us being out the way but then VIP. Nice enough young man. The afternoon tea arrived. Egg sandwiches instead of the Lincolnshire poacher, nobody had told us, which was the first let down. The main let down, was us being surrounded by flying ants. No doors or windows open, they Landed on our food so we didn’t eat what they had touched and us. I went to the bar and asked if we could move due to this and disgusted. The young man said of course and directed us to the lounge but leaving us to carry our pots and myself a red hot t-pot through the restaurant and lounge, aswell as my handbag. When we finished we went to the bar to pay. A gentleman took payments. Didn’t once ask if everything was okay l (my friend and I are from hospitality), that’s a basic given when a guest is paying. We will not be returning I’m afraid and not recommending it.

The place itself is nice and welcoming, and the staff were good and friendly, the food however was overall very poor. Starters were ok, scotch eggs were nice, and the soup was ok, although tomato and red pepper, the typical can’t be bothered soup you find on any basic menu. When it came to the mains though, shocking. Beef and ale pie with red onion, was just a bit of dry pulled beef stuck in suet case, no onions, no ale, no gravy. Was given a choice of either chips and garden peas, or seasonal veg with mash, opted for the latter, what I got, was a few unseasoned chips(not mash) and a plate full of overcooked peas, with half a dried out cold carrot on top. Partner ordered the baked haddock with prawn and saffron sauce, the sauce was just boiled cream with half a box of saffron thrown in, no flavour other than saffron, and the few very sad looking prawns that were drowned it it contributed nothing to the dish at all, sadly so much of the inedible sauce meant we just returned it to the kitchen, we got a replacement of some grilled salmon and sweet potato fries, but obviously arrived much later so everyone else had finished. Other two meals, chicken and lamb rump were mediocre at best but edible at least. Didn’t bother with deserts. Such a shame as the place a the front of house were great, just let down by the kitchen who were clearly lacking in both ability, and enthusiasm.

Plenty of choice on food and drink and it is reasonably priced. We visited at the end of November, there was an event on. We spent two nights at Stallingborough Grange as a birthday treat. Although rather small our twin room was adequate for ourselves and our cockerpoo. The modern bathroom, with a great overbath shower, and bedroom were spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable. There was a good choice at breakfast and it was freshly prepared. The evening meals were also very good. All the staff with whom we came into contact were helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Philip, Adam and Sandra. Haven’t been here in years even though it is on our doorstep. So after hearing others rave about it we gave it a try. It isn’t the cheapest BUT the food was piping hot and a good portion size. The staff were attentive without being too ‘in ya face’. We left room for pudding and ordered banoffee Elton mess. Tucking in we realised we had the lemon Elton mess by mistake. My friend loved it but I didn’t. No problem, I told the lovely young man serving us and he offered the correct pud but I wasn’t that bothered, just didn’t want them to think I was a waste person! Anyway the pud was deducted from the bill which was lovely. Definitely be going back soon. Xxx

Looks a very good place to eat on the website and is a very smart restaurant. Service was good and the server was helpful. However, the food was a disappointment. As a gluten intolerant diner I didn’t have a great choice and chose fish and chips. The fish in batter still had the skin on! The chips were quite dry and some not cooked through, mushy peas lacked flavour. There were no desserts both gluten and dairy free. Altogether a disappointment and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The night away started badly shown to a family room with one bed this was an oversight though and to be fair they resolved and gave us a complimentary drink, however due to a wedding the family couldn’t sleep as intended. Can’t blame these guests for being drunk and noisy however the hotel shouldn’t hire rooms when they know it’s booked out for a wedding. In the morning the tv didn’t work and the breakfast was rubbish. The hotel is lovely but check to see if a wedding is on if you want a quiet night away

Nice warm welcome even though there was a wedfing in full flow. The room nice and big clean and just what was required. The food in the restaurant in the even was excellent. Breakfast was full english. The only thing I didnt enjoy was that our main meal was served immediately after the starter plate where taken away. Very rushed and not what i would normally expect. Went with my better half for a nice night out. The food was shocking. Burnt starter with king scallops apparently. If these were king ones I would hate to see a small one. Then the mains appeared. Visited this restaurant today 10/10/21 The atmosphere was lovely. The staff excellent, the food awful. We ordered the turkey and when we were presented with it, we were surprised how many thick slabs of turkey was thrown on our plate-very off-putting-. vegetables were mediocre .the roast potatoes were chunky and insipid and the gravy given to us in a separate container was literally brown coloured water. Incredibly if we wanted cauliflower cheese then we were going to be charged £3 extra. on reflection I would have gone for the cauliflower cheese only perhaps I would have eaten it because I certainly didn't eat the rest of the meal. hope chef cooks the Christmas turkey better.

Went for a family wedding, the food was average & the drink prices extortionate, £7.50 for a single gin & tonic! Our biggest issue though was the complete lack of provision for anyone who is wheelchair dependent, not only was there no offer of a suitable changing area despite my emailing to enquire, but our daughter was treated like a second class citizen; staff were jumping all over themselves to try opening doors for babies and pushchairs (which incidentally actually fit through a single open door), but we were told to walk back through the hotel & use a fire exit on the far side to where we were headed, no attempt was made to open doors for our precious wheelchair user! This also meant trekking back along the front of the main hotel in the cold wind to reach the wedding venue itself, not to mention the social humiliation of being made to take a different route to everyone else. In short, if you have a wheelchair requirement this is most definitely NOT the venue for you.

Nice setting, friendly staff . We went for a family meal with 2 children. We had a disabled person with us so couldn’t just decide to go somewhere else once we saw the expensive menu. My fault entirely for not researching enough beforehand but expected more value for money as it was just a pub lunch. All meals were over cooked, my grandsons jacket potato with beans and cheese was a dried up mess and so off putting he hardly ate any. Will not b going back and would not recommend. Best part of meal was the sweet, orange cheesecake, but at £6.95 a go not on. My grandson is 10 and he likes puds, most on the list contained nuts, which he doesn’t like, so orange cheesecake was an option. Kids menu only suitable for younger children. Special fish pie at £16 disgusting, sauce was watery and tasteless, not satisfying. Should have taken pics. Waitress did say my grandson could have another jacket potato but he didn’t want another.

We have attended many Christmas parties over the years as part of our workgroup - many of them at places that would claim to be the best in the area. All of them fell short for a number of reasons- the main one being food quality and temperature. We ended up at Stallingborough Grange as the party we had booked at another hotel fell through when they cancelled us to fit a larger group in (more money for them I guess - but ironically on the night of the party they were posting on Facebook how they still had plenty of spaces for that night, so they paid for their greed) and we are so pleased that we did. The food was excellent quality and value for money. It was served piping hot, with just enough that none of us felt that we had overdone it. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the bar staff chatty and engaging. The entertainment was first rate, and Stephen Greenwood has the dance floor full from his first song to his last. The disco was a little bit more hot and miss - but it was still ok. The only minor complaint we had was how quick they wanted us out at the end of the night - but I guess it had been a long day for the staff and they had had enough of work, so didn’t want a group of jolly drunks delaying them any longer.

Four of us enjoyed a very good lunch today at The Grange. Service, as always, was excellent; friendly, welcoming and efficient. Three ordered haddock and one ordered beef pie. The food was great, though the three haddocks were a little overcooked; a dark brown colour to the batter and a little dry on the inside. She Who Must Be Obeyed picked me up from work on her way from spending all I'd just earned (and some). Having had a very, very good restaurant meal here with chums a few months earlier, we thought we'd grab a bar meal. The senior member (rank not years) opted for a burger (chorizo and pork), which she declared to be the best burger she's ever had. The small part she couldn't finish, was snaffled by me and I concur - magnificent.I started with the Lincs sausage scotch egg (after my last magnificent encounter with this creation, how I could I not?) and settled on the Chorizo Spiced Meatballs for the main. Yumsk, though the pasta could have been separated a little better on serving, but this is a very minor quibble. The beer (Abbot Ale) was impeccable. SWMBO settled on a Peroni. Yes, we'll be back again. And again...

We were a group of four that visited the Thatcher Restaurant on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime. The reservation was processed smoothly and we chose a pleasant table by the window. We ordered from the Thatcher Lighter Menu - no lightness on portion size so anyone with a larger appetite shouldn't be concerned - and decided on chargrilled chicken, chargrilled bacon loin, and Oscar Cleves haddock and chips. My fish was perfectly cooked, a crisp batter covering thick, white meat that fell onto the fork. The chunky chips were tasty, too. My wife commented it was the best haddock and chips she's had in many a month. We were very well attended to by the wait staff who executed the drinks and food order perfectly well, and not for a moment did we feel rushed in any way. We're members of the hotel's dining club and the offer for March made this excellent value-for-money. We'll certainly return.

My girlfriend is a vegan and we really struggle to find somewhere that can accommodate this. This beautiful restaurant did exactly that with only 3 hours notice. The restaurant manager Zack was very helpful and warm and made us feel like we weren't an inconvenience which happens far too often. He even tried searching the wine if it was vegan friendly. I had the chicken breast with creme sauce and mushrooms and it came with the best fondant potato I have ever had.My girlfriend had the Mediterranean vegetable risotto. And we were both incredibly happy with the service and food of the evening. Unfortunately there is no vegan option for desserts. But usually there is a sorbet or a fruit salad which, if you're like my girlfriend are very, very bored of. Maybe something to try and add?

We phoned at 840 pm one Friday evening to see if they could offer us a table within the next 20 minutes or so, and we were pleased to hear them confirm that that was no problem. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and shown to a table in the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that as well as the a la carte menu, there was also a couples menu available that offered 3 courses from a selection, plus a small glass of house wine for £20 each - such a bargain! The food was delicious, and my husband and I agreed that it was prepared with quality ingredients, presented nicely and served by friendly waiting on staff. This visit was a last minute affair, since we were in the area and needed somewhere to dine quite late in the evening, before places started closing for the night. We were very pleased with our meals and the Stallingborough Grange in general. This wasn't our first visit here, and it certainly won't be our last, but we won't leave it so long next time! Don't hesitate in giving them a visit.

The folk from my office visited here for a Christmas meal in very early December at the invitation of the boss. We went to the same venue last year & I have to say it has improved enormously in those 12 months. The waiting staff were extremely attentive & service was swift but not rushed. My starter of scallops was delicious & the turkey main was equally full of flavour. Eton Mess Cheesecake with seasonal berries finished the meal, the Eton Mess angle being completed by a few pieces of rather hard meringue scattered across the plate.Overall, an excellent meal in good company. Well recommended.

Organised a lunch for my family and friends to celebrate my 70th birthday. Rosie in reception helped us put together a menu offering my guests a wide selection of starters, mains and desserts. Nearly all the options were chosen and were very well received for quality and quantity. We were given a smart room with modern decor overlooking the garden and the pond. The gentleman looking after our group was very kind and attentive with a very pleasant attitude. The service was very efficient with all the meals being served together. A very enjoyable experience.

Having used The Ship at Barnoldby for years, we decided to try something new, in large part to get away from the rising prices and deteriorating choice and quality and what a find! The beer (Abbott's) was in fine fettle but the food was out of this world. Two of us had the soup and I tucked into the hot scotch egg as a starter. Perfection on a plate with a runny yolk. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. The mains were two lots of monkfish which were yummy, one had venison - the portion so good, there can't have been much left of the deer and cooked to perfection. I had the Thai chicken salad and it was outstanding.Four of us fed and watered for a little over a ton and of such quality, it took our collective breath away. We'll be back!

Following a wine tasting event at Stallingborough Grange, we decided to stay for dinner as we'd not visited the restaurant before. We chose what turned out to be an excellent value-for-money Friday night offer of a three course meal for two including a glass of wine for £40. We were of course, offered the à la carter menu but the candlelit couple menu was more than sufficient when it came to variety and curiosity. For starters, I chose the mozzarella arancini, which was delicately flavoured and generously proportioned, and followed this with an Oscar Cleves haddock, chips and mushy peas. The fish was beautifully cooked, tender white flesh coated in a gently crisp batter. I chose the cheesecake for dessert, a subtly sweet combination of flavours thoughtfully presented. My wife was equally delighted with her pate, haddock and Eton mess. The service was prompt, polite and unobtrusive, and despite most of the staff being quite young, they were well-trained in attending to customers. The manager, Zac, both worked and supervised, which is always good to see, and had time for a pleasant word or two with patrons. All-in-all, a very enjoyable ambience was created.A slight hiccup with the bill was corrected quickly, smoothly and professionally. On this experience, we joined the Diners Club and look forward to our next visit.

This place is begging for more of a reputation! We came here as a farewell meal before going away so we splashed on a 3 course meal. There were 2 moments which could be Improved and that is speed of the dessert but understandably a big table had just been seated. Maybe more staff would've benefited? Also the price is top end and it's not quite there yet. The quality.of the steak and cooking was second to none and the scotch egg starter was delicious. The desert options seemed lacking in ambition especially with plating but delivered on taste. Overall I would recommend this place highly and perhaps.with more customers, would bring more staff and more customers would bring higher ambition in dishes to deserve the prices. The waitresses we had worked so hard and deserve amazing credit but there just needed more of them.

The staff are very friendly and always happy to help with special requests for our 17 month old baby. There is a good choice of food and we've never had anything other than lovely food. Highly recommended.

We had Sunday lunch here. We both had Salmon with assorted vegetables and a lovely dill sauce.Everything was cooked well and the Salmon was full of flavour. The staff were helpful and pleasant. I would suggest booking in advance for Sunday lunch as it became very busy. The hotel and restaurant are situated just outside Stallingborough so you need a car to get there and there is plenty of parking space.

Ordered a burger, chips and side salad. The so called side salad was not "dressed" as it was described. It arrived in a tiny glass, simply strange! The chips were ok but certainly nothing special.the burger was compressed and chewy not pleasant to eat at all so left most of it. The best part of the meal was the bun.
