We ate here twice on our stay and, as usual, the meals were superb especially the wild salmon which is not often available. It is important to save a bit of room for the desserts which are delicious. This little tucked-away restaurant is not to be missed if one visits Arran. Reservations are a must and should be made several days in advance, especially during the busy summer months. I ate here with my mother, my sister who has celiac disease and my 13-year-old niece. All of us ate well, even my niece who is a finicky eater. Kids menu was expansive and suited many palates and kids and regular menu had large portions at reasonable prices. The staff were well able to accommodate my sister's special dietary needs and she ate well here, more than in other fancier restaurants we visited on our tour of Europe. I ate Arran lamb, which was tasty, and my mother ordered several platters for the table, all of which were delicious. We were very stuffed when we left, too stuffed for dessert, which I regret missing out on. I really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant, and although the interior is small, it didn't feel crowded or stuffy. . It was just wonderful to eat my delicious dinner while gazing out at the Scottish hills covered in mist and fog. Loved it, would go back for sure.

Was lucky enough to eat here on a recent visit to Arran, luckily read the reviews and booked before we went on holiday and glad we did as evening we were there it was fully booked. Good choice of dishes, the venison in a whisky cream sauce was divine and managed to squeeze in quite the best fruit crumble and custard I think I've ever had, my husband had the stuffed pepper starter and said the amount of flavour he had got into it was amazing, he then had the lamb rack which again he said was superb. All in all I don't know how he does it as appeared to be in the kitchen on his own but it was one of the best meals of the holiday!! Service was very good and the bill extremely reasonable for the quality of food served, just remember to take your own wine/beer.

A fabulous experience from our welcome , to saying good bye after eating the most amazing, tasty , fresh food. My husband had the mackeral starter with fabulous couscous and salad. For main he had the rabbit and I had the wild mushroom risotto , both were delicious. We managed a Belgian chocolate cheesecake and cheeseboard which were delicious. If you visit Arran , you have to eat here but book first. It is small but perfectly formed. Thanks for a lovely evening.

It has been a pleasure to have dinner in Stags Pavilion. Valerie is very friendly and welcoming and her Italian husband is a great cook. You really should taste the deserts (Cake! Pavlova!). And notice: The Pavilion is not licenced. So one should bring alcoholic drinks. (There is no shop in Lochranza. Buy wine/beer in Brodick).

Any time we visit our friend's cottage in Arran we eat at this wonderful homely restaurant. They serve a varied menu using locally sourced produce. The husband and wife team certainly go the extra mile to welcome you and feed you well. This time we 3 ate wonderfully light calamari, wild boar, local venison , a fish roast and local cheese. But it was difficult to decide what to have as there were so many delicious options! A range of lovely desserts are on offer too but because of the portion size of the mains we opted to share a cheese board accopanied by Arran oatcakes and a lovely chutney. It is worth noting that you have to bring you own drinks.

We visit Arran as often as we can and ALWAYS have a meal at the Stags Pavilion. Val & Reno make it the friendliest of places, with fabulous unpretentious food, and lots of it. Reno specialises in getting the best seasonal produce and often gives it an Italian twist so sometimes the venison is our top choice, sometimes lobster, and there are often exciting surprises like razor clams, accompanied by the very best seafood sauce we've ever tasted! BYOB is also a bonus, because the total bill is always less than we'd expect. Love it!

We decided to eat here rather than the hotel we stayed at up the road. It is quite small and you need to book ahead and take your own wine/beer. Run in a family style way with very wholesome and generous meals, a wide range of standard menu and special options. Our mains of chicken, roast beef and 3 fish were all very good and our deserts of rhubarb/raspberry crumble and sticky toffee pudding were excellent. Nice & family friendly service, well with a visit if you're the island.

Family of 4 with another couple so 6 of us. My friends booked this and my 1st impression from the outside is that it was a restaurant that our! family normally wouldn't visit. A very traditional interior which focuses on the comfort on their guests as opposed to modern sharp decor. The quality of the food is amazing and very reasonably priced. They don't have a drinks licence so the fact that you bring your own wine and beer makes this place absolutely amazing value. If your looking for a family meal that you want to take a while over and enjoy then this is simply the best place to come in Arran.WARNING: you must book this place before coming on holiday.Anyway, we went on a Monday at 5.30pm, we'd booked but sure enough it was fully booked. It looks like they only book each table once for the night and concentrate on giving each group excellent service and food. The menu's for adults and kids are amazing. There was 5 or 6 choices for each course on the standard menu then another 5 or 6 choices for each course on the specials menu. It took us a while to order as there was so many of the choices that sounded amazing. Kids gave the kids meal 10\10 which is a definite 10\10.Adults also gave 10/10. We had a vegetarian and vegan in our party and this place us renowned for the quality and choice for them too.The only thing us when you order your mains they just automatically bring a range of sides to accompany them. Its no big deal as they were delicious but if you could make a choice of sides then that would be amazing.Anyway, we had starter, main course, desert each for adults with the kids having starter and main course on kids menu then they got an adult desert. We had loads of soft drinks and coffee's too. We just relaxed and enjoyed. The meal took us 3 hours as the chat and food was amazing. For 4 adults and 2 kids. 3 courses each and coffee it only came to £130, £150 inc tip.In short, book this place well in advance of your holiday. If its a big family meal your out for you MUST get a table here.

Friendly staff and a stones throw from the red deer on the golf course, which are worth a visit. Specials board was extensive and augmented the regular menu. Lovely setting and a warm welcome with good service throughout for our evening meal. I have to be honest though and say we were not as taken with the food as other reviewers. My wife enjoyed her razor clam starter and I had a lovely whisky truffle cheesecake for dessert, but other dishes did not excite. The accompaniments to our mains seemed a bit odd (chips and potatoes) and some boiled mixed veg which tasted like it was possibly out the freezer? Portion sizes are generous. Despite some of the food not hitting the mark for us, we felt at home here as there is a lovely atmosphere. I think we'll return when next on the island to give it another try.

The delightful owners of this place have got the formula dead right. Quality food with an excellent menu, a comfortable and homely atmosphere, a great welcome along with attentive service. My wife and I enjoyed local smoked mackerel, a shoulder of lamb and the mixed fish medley and I still had room for the Italian bread and butter pudding served with local ice cream. It was quite the best meal we have enjoyed for a long time.A traveller tip. Booking essential. Bring your own wine/beer. Approach via the mountain road from Sannox and watch the deer, leave via the castle and the western coast road at sunset. Deer roam freely through this village and are an extraordinary sight. Thankfully, we had arrived early for lunch and managed to get two tables of four. This place gets busy quickly so either turn up early or book in advance. Our initial welcome was a wee bit perfunctory but afterwards the staff were very friendly and also patient with the kids throughout our lunch. The menu was a revelation - a great selection of interesting and varied dishes. Truly impressive for this location on Arran. The food which arrived was tasty and very hearty, perfect after a long walk. I also think there was only one cook in the back - which makes our meal that much more impressive. I would recommend this to Arran visitors - it's just a short drive past the distillery. The views from the restaurant are super as well.

We had a superb family lunch in Stags, it was a wild December afternoon and we braves the conditions on a drive round the island especially to call in for lunch at Stags, after on the reviews from here and some local recommendations. The food was superb, the service was friendly and comfortable. It amazes me given how difficult it must be to have such a diverse menu with everything freshly prepared but in such a rural location (in winter anyway). The owners do a spectacular job.Have to laugh at the comments left by some clown shoes on a bike further down the page, I had to look as I find it impossible to believe how anyone could dislike this place. They complained about being unable to get food despite arriving after a time they stop serving food, if people like this can't understand how difficult it must be to run a high quality restaurant in a fairly remote location then perhaps they should jump on their bike and keep cycling, right off the pier at Brodick perhaps!!Reviews are accurate this place is amazing, thank you for a superb lunch and we can't wait to come back someday soon!!

Can't rate the food, staff, location, atmosphere highly enough. Just superb. My meal was absolutely delicious, and served at the same time thereabouts as everyone else's . Because there were so many of us eating all at once, we had a choice of 5 starters, main courses, ordered in advance. Yum, yum, yum. Everything fresh cooked, none just kept warm, or reheated in a microwave. Nothing not cooked from scratch. Too, too much food. Roasted pots, boiled pots, and chips fresh cooked ( for 30 people - how did they do that?). We found this lovely restaurant during our stay on the camping side in Lochanza and we were lucky to get a table for two on the first evening, as we had not booked before (and had also not checked the tripadvisor comments). The restaurant was busy but at the same time cosy, even before ordering we loved the atmosphere. After ordering the starter, it took not long and we had it on our table (mackerel salad). Delicious! As mains we had the roasted lamp and the roast-beef, absolutely wonderful. Everything fresh and tasty and with a choice of side dishes, as potatoes, chips, peas and vegetables. And even if we both are usually no dessert-freaks and were already absolutely full, we had to try the rhubarb crumble, which was the perfect end of a perfect dinner. To bring out own bottle was unusual for us, but of course we found it handy. Prices are in best relation to the quality, service if very friendly and quick.Result was, that we booked directly the table for the next evening, which was exactly as good as the first night. Highly recommendable!!!

Saw review on Trip Advisor and booked 2 weeks before but could only get in for lunch not dinner. Not big place but fills up quick and doesn't look much from outside. Opposite distillery. Italian chef who obviously loves cooking and his wife. Melt-in-the-mouth lamb and pavlova for dessert. BYOB too.

This restaurant must be pre-booked or you could be disappointed. It has a very extensive menu with many specials available so there is a great variety. There is no licence but they encourage BYOB which of course helps to reduce the cost. A great place for families as you eat in a very relaxed location. We will return.

Definitely go if you get a chance, great atmosphere and brilliant service. But book in advance, its very popular with the locals so tables go very quickly! I had the Haggis stuffed chicken, with Arran Gold cream liquor sauce (from the independent distillery just over the road). Absolutely stunning. Shall be back soon!

Outstanding. We ordered the Fish Platter and it was absolutely delicious - lobster with an extremely generous selection of sea food. Both of us had a pudding - one wonderful bread and butter pudding and one crumble - unbelievably good! Very inexpensive for such good value.

Just back from short break in Arran. We (3 couples)have been to Arran for past 3 years and have always visited Stags Pavilion following several recommendations from friends. We have never been disappointed we have eaten many starters main courses and sweets from their excellent menu and not once have we had anything other than outstanding food. The presentation and service is excellent and you are made to feel very welcome. It is advisable to book as on every occasion we have been there they are having to turn people away such is the popularity of the place . Already looking forward to our visit next year (if not sooner) when we most certainly will be back .

Was travelling with seafood-loving family, while I am a vegetarian, and we were delighted to find this place. Menu is stacked full of creative seafood dishes plus at least eight veggie options. It is BYOB and I don't think we were charged corkage. Place has a lovely atmosphere, and at dusk you can watch the red deer munching on the lush grass of the golf course next door. It's a delight and I can't recommend it highly enough.

My husband and I went here with family to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing and the selection of veg huge, my daughter arranged with the owner to make us a special cake for the evening which was very special to us as we never had a wedding cake when we got married, so I would like to thank the chef for baking the cake and the staff for all their hard work and kindness.

We booked in to campsite earlier and asked if there was a nice place to eat & they recommended this lovely wee place but they said we would be better booking it first , so we went over but it was closed , my partner spotted someone in the kitchen so he knocked on the window bearing in mind we had just been for a long walk in the rain & mud & we looked a bit worse for wear, I dread to think what the owner though. We booked the table and we were so glad we did this place is so lovely the atsmosphe was great friendly , relaxed & we were not rushed one little bit , we were watching the red squirrels in the garden from our table, where else does that happen, very good value for money highly recommend this place x

The outside of this small restaurant somewhat belies the experience inside. The food was excellent and there's definitely something for everyone on the menu. It's BYOB, but we don't really drink so this wasn't an issue for us, but for those who like a glass of wine with their meal it's worth remembering. They also have an excellent selection of cakes and other home baking which you can purchase even if not eating in the restaurant. Also, book in advance! Clearly word travels fast about this place, the restaurant is quite small and even out of peak season and in the middle of a week they were fully booked when we arrived, but they managed to squeeze us in (then put up a sign saying "Fully Booked" about two minutes later! The setting is stunning, and it lives up to it's name - if you're near a window you should get to see at least one of the beautiful stags or deer of Lochranza strolling by.Been going to Arran for years and always missed eating here (either because it was closed or fully booked for one reason or another) glad we finally made it, and we'll definitely be back each year.

Among us we had: 2 overseas visitors who wanted to try something British/Scottish, a vegetarian, 2 young children and a seafood lover. Amazingly everyone was very happy with his/her meal, and it cost a lot less than we had thought. The service was great and the view wonderful. Thank you for giving my visitors a dinner to remember when they leave this country.

Friendly welcome, second to none! Wonderful ambience, very relaxing. Owners Val and Rino have worked hard to create this superb venue, well worth visiting for lunch or evening meal. The menu is extensive and varied, all home cooked and using local produce where possible. It simply was not possible to fault anything! It was my first visit but will certainly not be my last. My friend, whose birthday we were celebrating, is one of many locals who visit regularly, such is the well deserved good reputation of Stags.

This is a "family" restaurant that I booked for a group of 15 for lunch after a visit to the local distillery. The entire menu was arranged in advance with the owners, Valerie and Chef Rino, and it included cream of asparagus soup, a taste of Angus beef and Arran lamb with a mix of grilled vegetables and roasted/boiled potatoes, and a mixture of fresh berries with cream or ice cream for dessert. The food was delicious, the price was reasonable and the service was excellent. Even though this is an off-license restaurant, we were able to bring along our wine and beer. Thank you Valerie and Rino for your gracious hospitality.

Tucked away beside Loch Ranza Campsite, it looks unassuming from the outside. But step through the door and it's immediately apparent that you're in for a treat. Combine an Italian chef and a Scottish front of house who clearly love what they do and are not prepared to compromise on quality and the scene is set for a brilliant evening.. Interesting, food, beautifully cooked and presented, warm and friendly efficient service. Opening times and tables are not extensive, so best to book.

Had lunch for 2 on a Saturday. Looked and tasted like everything was freshly cooked, the chef obviously takes pride in what he sends out. The portion sizes can accurately be described as massive, so big that I had no room for dessert despite the dessert menu looking fantastic. There is also a large specials board with various options, another nod to fresh produce. The restaurant is not licensed so you can take your own alcohol, there doesn't seem to be a corkage charge. I doubt any other restaurant in Arran can challenge this place when it's comes to quantity, quality and price. I'd highly recommend the stags pavilion to anyone looking to eat out in Arran.

Had such a wonderful evening with a group of around 10 people. All three courses I had were amazing, fresh and locally sourced. Considering how busy the Pavillion gets, the service and quality of food is outstanding. All the food to all 10 of us came out at the same time, hats off to the chef and staff. Look forward to visiting again.

We dined here on three occasions during our stay at Lonchranza campsite and each time was a treat. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by a warm and friendly atmosphere. Every meal was a delight. Tasty, wholesome and with a cheeky Italian twist! Just the ticket after a day in the mountains. Indeed, the menu was a regular topic of conversation that saw us to the summits when energy was low! (As did the scrumptious cakes available to take away!) Rino, Val and Monica provided efficient and thoughtful service. We were beginning to feel like locals and were touched by how kind they were. On leaving Arran we both agreed that our evenings spent at the Stag's Pavilion went a long way to making our trip one to remember.

We had a long drive up from Whiting Bay to reach the Stags Pavilion but it was worth it. Our family experienced a warm welcome and brilliant service at this beautiful little restaurant. There was a wide menu of starters, mains and sweets and we enjoyed the selection on offer; the number of gluten-free options was most impressive. We basked in the island hospitality and our grand-daughter was treated like royalty. High quality food at reasonable prices and it's BYOB! Thank you.

My first visit to Stags in Lochranza was in February 2014. My Grandma Hallyburton lives in the village and had recommended we go there. My husband and i both had incredible food, we were very impressed. The owners were very welcoming especially to our lively little boys. My husband and I had planned another visit to Lochranza for April 2015 and we said that we must visit Stags for a meal again! Knowing how popular it is there, we were delighted to get a booking. Tonight, I had stuffed crab followed by penne carbonara and finished nicely with caramel apple pie. All 3 courses were divine. The crab especially was absolutely wonderful, I hope I am lucky enough to have that dish again one day. My husband had mussels followed by venison. I personally am not a big fan of venison but it looked so good I had a taste and it was lovely! So tender and fantastic flavour. My husband thoroughly enjoyed both courses. My children also had great meals and they cleared their plates. My youngest is 4 and gets restless easily. Val, the owner kindly brought over pencils and a colouring book for him. Little gestures like that are so greatly appreciated. I cannot recommend Stags highly enough. The food, the atmosphere and staff are all truly wonderful. I am jealous that my Grandma has this place on her doorstep and we live in Aberdeen. I can promise we will be back again. :-)

Just enjoyed a lovely Saturday night meal at the Golf Club. It's a 10 min walk from the pier but worth it. Such a beautiful site. Tables are set up outside for when the weather's nice. New chef who's running it is fab. Great menu with a nice variety and changes according to whats fresh. I had the cod with mussels well presented and delicious. Definitely will return next time I want to try the scallops and the deep fried fish. Both look amazing.

Room was dusty with cobwebs on the ceiling could be doing with a deep clean. We arrived to be told they had no space for us at dinner & would book a taxi for us to eat out, bit disappointed when you are a paying guest @ £155 for the night. Car park is so small with only a couple of spaces they ask if you are going to go out when you arrive.

Four of us meet up as many times during the course of the year as we can for a catch up and lunch. Unfortunately a local Pub we used to go to closed down at the end of September so we were left with not knowing when to go for our lunch! Prior to going over to Largs I checked out a few places on TripAdvisor looking for favourable reviews. I am delighted to say that we decided to go to The Three Reasons Pub for our lunch yesterday. What a find this was. We were stunned to see just how busy the place was. We had a short wait before getting a table. Their menu has many very tasty looking dishes on it and it was hard to decide just what to have to eat! 3 of us opted for Prawn Cocktail as a starter and 1 decided on the Chicken Pakora. What a decent portion of Prawn Cocktail no shortage of prawns and the Chicken Pakora was equally as good . We all enjoyed. What was very appealing was the fact that for main course you could have a small portion or a normal portion this to me is a winner. 2 of us had the lovely Lasagne with another having Macaroni Cheese and lastly Fish and Chips. The food was all very well priced and we thought great value for money. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and this was all washed down with a couple of bottles of wine which we shared between the 4 of us. Full marks in every way for The Three Seasons, the atmosphere was just so nice with lovely background music, the food and service were absolutely spot on. We could not fault a thing. I am very pleased to say that the toilets were absolutely spotless. What a find this was and we are already planning our next outing for lunch!! We all would highly recommend this place for a meal when you are visiting Largs as we were, you MOST CERTAINLY WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Keep up the good work and we will look forward to seeing you next month.
