Visited after Parkrun Tourism, didn’t seem to many Bramhall Parkrun regulars there although there were other tourists. Prices seemed high compared to other cafes in Stockport area and was limiting, lots of strange comments on the menu. Additional charge for an adult having a child’s meal???? Extra £2.50 portion no bigger, just an extra charge. No swapping anything, don’t ask!! Just order extra!!! The food we had was ok. I had the big breakfast, not sure what I was comparing against as it was the only breakfast! Beans on toast only available to children! Hot chocolate was good. If I had realised the quirks of the menu would not have visited, I think the owners are totally out of touch with reality. We won’t be back

I never normally complain about food as having worked in hospitality since the age of 16 I am well versed in the triumphs and tribulations of working to my maximum effort for minimum wage however this may be the one exception. I visited Bramhall Park Café this afternoon with a group of friends for a belated birthday brunch and ordered a hot chocolate and the falafel and carrot side from the children’s menu (originally priced at £4.95). When I received the bill my portion came to a whopping £11.45 which I found absurd so politely questioned; met with the response that there is an additional charge for eating inside and ordering from the children’s menu which I had not been made aware of prior to ordering. I genuinely find this ludicrous that you could justify charging £7.75 for such a scarce portion in this economy where we are enduring a cost of living crisis which as a university student, I am inevitably a victim of. If I were to serve such a dish in the restaurant I am currently working at I would without hesitation offer a replacement or refund. Winter is a difficult time for many not only financially but also emotionally and I think this is a disgrace.

A baffling concept for eating in or out doors! So we can only order inside and eat inside or order outside and eat out side. No crossing the retractable door line to eat outside if orders inside. Same kitchen cooking the food, same waiters, the mind boggles? Just to add the food is nice!

One of our party wanted a bacon bap (it was on the menu) but was told that was the breakfast menu and wasn't being sold any more. We asked if they sold it outside (the other side of the window we were sat at) and were told yes. Surely it must be cooked in the same kitchen so what the £$%^&*() are the management thinking??? We ordered from the lunch menu and what arrived was fresh, tasty and promptly served (although the portions were meagre). The serving staff were attentive and pleasant and then I got the bill so my wallet is now in therapy. It's at a popular destination so there is a lot of through traffic which guarantees visitors but it looks like the management have developed an arrogant attitude to what a cafe should offer. Won't go back. Neither I suspect will a lot of others writing on this site.

Arrived at 4.40 pm on a sunny Saturday in June with two young children wanting dinner. We were told they were no longer serving food and closing. Despite all signage saying open till 5.30. When we then tried to access the toilet (in a rush with a four year old!) we were told we couldn’t access to toilet through the cafe and had to walk all the way around. Not at all accommodating for a bursting toddler! The lady is the cafe was rude and dismissive. Will not be returning. Unreliable.

You lost a sale of £10. It was 11:20am on a Saturday morning on a Bank Holiday weekend. We'd had a long walk and called in the Park hoping to get a bacon roll and a coffee. We ordered, to be told no bacon rolls after 11:00am! That is incredibly early on a weekend to pull the plug on people wanting to go out for breakfast. I guess you hoped that we would decide to have something else like cake! Toasties are available, surely a bacon roll isn't difficult to produce alongside other snacks. You were lucky - you got 3 out of 5 because the Cappuccino coffee was lovely. Oh - another thing plenty of staff around but please get them to smile ☺

Dreadful Experience - Nobody even acknowledged us at first even though it said wait to be seated. We had to keep asking to be seated and served (with empty tables available). The cake was stale and dry tasted about a week old. Kids had to watch and wait 30 mins for their ice-cream. We had to keep asking where the rest of our drinks were. We were told they were coming repeatedly. Finally after 40 mins we were told they didn't have the ingredients to make the drink. We chose another - which we were charged for surprisingly (again I accepted). Waited another 10 minutes for that then we're charged for items we didn't even receive. We only realised this after asking for the receipt as it seemed high. No real apology or friendly response. There were 7+ members of staff that we could see - possibly more in the back - which seemed like a lot. We never complain, but feel like management really need to know how bad this was today and no effort for positive customer service or care to rectify it. Awful!

We had no cutlery and had to ask for it.The table we were shown to was an absolute disgrace. It was metal, dirty looking and would have looked much better with a cloth on to hide the top. Also one of the chairs was wonky and we got a dirty look from the waitress when we changed it. Overall not impressed. With the over inflated prices, surely some new furniture could be afforded. The tour of the hall afterwards was really good.

Cafe was about two-thirds full late morning on Mon 30th. Waited 10mins for someone to come to take our order, only to be told it was a 25min wait for drinks. Assuming that was for hot drinks, I said we'd just have a couple of cartons of juice but apparently that would also take 25mins! So we left, I saw a few other tables walking out as well. The management and organisation of this place is appalling, I've been coming here for almost 2 years on and off, waiting and hoping that it will get better but it never does. Very bad supermarket-type bread instead of farm one as promised, a sloppy smudge of some tasteless butter, some mush supposed to be chutney and cranberry sauce, with tiny amount of grated - tasteless- carrot as a side. Whilst on a dog walk this morning, my two children (15 and 12) stopped at the cafe in Bramhall Park for a cake and a cup of tea. They sat outside and after about 15 minutes (during which time the adult at the next table, was served almost immediately after arriving later) they had to go inside and ask to be served. My daughter confirmed the table number to the waitress and went back to the table. The waitress then came and they asked for a menu. They then quickly decided what they wanted and put the menu down on the table. It was clear they were ready to order yet the waiters contined to take other customers' orders. After 10 minutes they had to yet again ask to place their order. The tea was ok, the rocky road was fine and the brownie not great either! The park setting is so lovely but the cafe was such a let down on our recent visit. The staff were all over the place, whatever system was in place it was badly managed. My poor friend received a barely warm coffee after over 20 minutes waiting. She asked for some extra hot water to warm it up which was not so sensibly placed in a glass milk bottle right in front of my 2 year old. Full refund requested after 50 minutes waiting for a sandwich that never came. Sadly we were given more excuses than apologies. Busy isn’t a valid excuse in my opinion, it’s just what you would expect for a sunny autumn weekend. This cafe is in a prime location so should expect busy periods and have its service down to a T.

Limited menu (which is fine) but then items on this limited menu ‘sold out’ by 12:30pm on a Sunday lunchtime.....Planning much, anyone??? Then the less than clean environment. Grooved wooden tables, with encrusted old crumbs and detritus in the grooves. Filthily dirty and marked doors into the toilets. Scuff marks on the wallls. Such and shame. It could be so pleasant and nice. How I miss the old social enterprise cafe. I say ‘consistently disappointing’ in my title. Why? The management seems to be the main issue as the servers are generally friendly. We visited on a Sunday and ordered a breakfast, only to be told the chef had stopped cooking breakfast for the day despite the order already being taken. Apparently at 11:32 it is the impossible to cook a breakfast when breakfast is only served until 11:30, 'as everything has been tidied away'. Politely requested lunch menu which was handed over with the comment 'not available till 11.30". Again, politely remarked to waitress that was only five minutes away. We waited while we watched her amend all the menu boards, assuming she would come back to our table and take our order. it became apparent she had taken offence at our request for the lunch menu as she then proceeded to serve every table of customers who had entered after us, studiously ignoring our table. I went to the counter to place order, was told it was table service only. Sat down again, waitress made a beeline for another party who had just entered, making it plain we were being ignored. We decided to,leave, spoke to,the counter staff to say how disappointed we were, in earshot of the waitress who said sarcastically as we left "no problem".

Lots of grumpy customers leaving as a result of the wait and staff were not aware or particularly apologetic when it was pointed out which added to the frustration. Lots of training in customer service required to improve the shoddy service.

I recently had my wedding reception at The stables Kitchen at Bramhall Hall. With a back drop of this stunning historical hall and beautiful lush green park the location was perfect.

So irritating that it’s table service yet staff have to be sought out to take your order. No eye contact from staff. Poor management, seen smoking with the chefs of the steps (eugh).

Leisurely walk around Bramhall Park, the Stables is a nice place to stop off and have a break. A varied menu on offer, although on this occasion we only had tea cakes and cappuccinos which were delicious. A special mention to our server Matt, who was both courteous and attentive. Thank you

Good central location inside Bramhall Park, but like many before me the service is poor. Often have to "catch" someone's eye to be served otherwise you might have to wait. Food and drink great (try the thick chips, they're fab and look like Jenga blocks). We often have to wait around the till to pay as everything moves in slow-mo here. If you want slow service though this is the place to come! Last visit the sun was fierce and there was no shade anywhere for the outside area so not sure where the umbrellas have gone. Can't work out why management can't reduce the waiting time as it would be a pleasant experience, without the frustration if they did.

Great location and decor. Staff need more training- the poor service is inexcusable. It's quite expensive, but you expect a premium for the location. It's always been one of our regular family haunts, but sadly, I just can't face the inevitable hanging about/ getting the order wrong etc any more.

After a lovely visit to the hall my wife and I called in the cafe for tea and cakes. Having been to the cafe a number of times in low season/mid morning when it's quiet and experienced the poor service we didn't expect a lot. But it's so convenient to the hall.

We regularly visit this cafe while out walking our dog and yet again left as no one came to take our Oder after 20 minutes. There was a queue at the counter too so no luck getting any service there either. Less than half the tables were taken both inside and outside so they weren’t overly busy. There appeared to be just 2 staff taking the orders, a girl who would take just one order then disappear back inside for quite a while, and a young man who looked around vaguely, picked up a couple of pots and disappeared inside too. It’s such a shame, this isn’t the first time this has happened. Sunday must be one of their busiest days so either get more staff or train the ones you’ve got better.

Stopped off for a coffee whilst walking through Bramhall Park. It was very busy and we had to sit outside, but that was ok. The speed of service, however, was dreadful - almost an hour from taking out seat, giving the order to receiving the drinks.

My friends and I had drinks and toasted tea cakes with our young children a few weeks ago on a weekday morning. The cafe wasn't busy and we could see waitresses milling around but nobody greeted us when we came in and nobody came to take our order. We flagged someone down eventually but when nobody came to clear our plates away or ask if we'd like the bill, we gave up and approached the counter. The lady there who was preparing drinks could not have looked more surly and unapproachable. We all felt really uncomfortable and felt like we were an inconvenience, very bizarre.

I regularly visit the cafe for breakfast or lunch with either my husband or friends and their children. I’ve never had a problem with service, they’ve always be fantastic, but we tend not to go during peak times like a weekend lunchtime when you would expect them to be run off their feet (it is the largest and nicest parkin the area after all). Having not had a kitchen at home for a longtime during renovation, we’ve eaten out at every establishment in bramhall and near areas and the cafe is by far the best breakfast and lunch. The chef clearly knows what they’re doing and I like that they source local ingredients. I highly recommend the specials for lunch - in fact I always order off these. They are beyond cafe quality and are the best part of visiting the cafe. No matter who I take to the cafe, everyone enjoys it and wants to revisit!

Nice looking cafe nice location comfortable to sit and relaxed atmosphere . The issue is the table service - needs to be on way or the other - full service or serve at till - the issue is that is slow when you wish to order - end up going up to ask someone to come and take your order - what is the point? The coffees themselves were nice enough but nothing extraordinary. No cups for water just dirty used ones left around. Table was not clean after last people - crumbs everywhere - so had to clean it up ourselves to use. Which is a shame as plenty tables were free it wasn’t as if we had jumped on it as someone left. The stupid part is that it is meant to be table service but you have to queue up to settle and it seems all a bit disorganised and all over the show. I can imagine that people could walk out without paying and it wouldn’t be noticed. Not sure enough staff on. It is family friendly place though and I guess they don’t rush you out because they don’t notice you are there to begin with. And they don’t come to give you a bill

We had looked forward to this new area opening. But it has been totally taken over with young women and masses of children. The noise was unbelievable. We were at a corner table when 5 women came in all with pushchairs a heaven knows how many children. They jammed us in with their trolleys. We just couldn't put up with all the screaming and asked if they would move some of the push chairs so that we could get out. They were rude and offensive and said they had just got sorted out. That we shouldn't go there if we didn't like children. It is a safety hazard to have every aisle jammed like this. The tables were not being cleared or cleaned and the floors were disgusting with food all over. Why not just advertise this as a crèche where a quiet cup of coffee is just not possible.

Recently refurbished cafe within Bramhall Park, next to the hall, offering light snacks, a small selection of sandwiches, cakes, etc. We chose sandwiches which were freshly prepared and well presented - prices reflect the fact that this cafe has a captive audience from visitors to Bramhall Park and the hall. The staff were friendly and helpful although not well organised - I had to wait several minutes to settle my bill while three people served the person in front of me!

This is operated by Mosaic Hospitality, presumably on a franchise from Stockport MBC. I ate a late lunch here on a bitterly cold, windy, wintry, mid-weekday. I was with friends. The restaurant was warm (yippee!). Huge window walls with a magnificent, snowy outlook. Most staff were also welcoming, but one young lady was a bit 'jobsworth'. The place was about half full. Service was good. The fish fingers were actually fish goujons and were really nice. The two part-buttered slices of bread underneath somewhat less so. Toasting them would have been a better option. My wife had the mushrooms on toast and was very happy with that. Others have commented on the coffee lacking flavour -

My wife and I came down to the cafe. We had to wait a few mins to get a free table, and we were seated by around 3:20pm, I went up to a waitress and asked for two food menus, which she duly handed me. After very quickly picking what we wanted, I waited in the queue for 10-mins and was at the counter by 3:35pm. I was informed that food had stopped being served at 3:30 and no exception could be made, even though the waitress that handed me the menus had mentioned nothing about food finishing. At this stage I wasn't overly annoyed, just disappointed as I know that kitchens close and you can't make an exception for one person without making an exception for everyone, but I thought it would be useful to find the waitress who handed me the menus and suggest that in the future, any customers should be informed if food is about to stop when asking for menus, especially when there's a queue for tables in the first instance and a subsequent queue for food.

Had to wait 20 minutes for two pieces of cakes and two drinks due to an apparent 'backlog of orders' or maybe a shortage of staff. I don't see which business would open on Boxing Day when they don't have the amount of staff to deal with how many customers they have. The food however did even that up with a delicious slice of Oreo cake.

As an ex employee of this little gem of a place I can understand the good and bad reviews the food is really good credit to the two heads chefs both called Chris they work so hard to get food out on time. I think the staff are great but service can be really frustrating as it needs to be more organised with table service and waiting times. But the staff do work hard to the pressure of busy times which is pretty much chaotic a lot of times. But great little place

I'd not visited Bramall Park for a number of years, but as I was in the area, decided to go and have a walk around. Not a huge amount had changed until I neared what was the old cafe area - a total transformation. On entering the Stables, whilst it was very busy, we easily found a table. Both my mother and I chose to have a slice of cake and a coffee - both very nice and really quite reasonable in price. Good service, and a great location. I can't believe the change - years ago, you would not have even known there was a cafe there (if you could call it that), but the area is now opened up and is a great setting for relaxing, and having a drink or a bite to eat. Excellent, will return.

We decided to come for dinner here due to the special deal. The menu has changed since last time I came so some of the dishes I liked have now gone. I had wanted the scampi and chips but that dish had gone. I ordered ham, eggs and chips. Delicious chunky chips, loads of ham slices and two fried eggs with runny yolks. My wife and son loved their fish and chip meals, my son had a pot of tea and my wife had a latte and I had a bottled flavoured water. The meal came to a little bit over seven pounds. Really good service. Good social distancing measures.
