Stables Kitchen in East Riding of Yorkshire

I have eaten in the Stables Kitchen twice recently and I am impressed by the food, the cafe itself and the people too. We had sandwiches, which were fresh, tasty, generously filled in a nice bread and the pot of tea was nice too. Thank you so much for getting in right, so many cafes don't. I look forward to my next visit.

We stayed here for lunch and we were not dissapointed. The variety of food is vast, fresh and locally produced. The quality of the food is good and plentiful. The staff are friendly and helpful and it's a very clean and comfortable place to eat. I will return when I make a second trip to the hall.

Lovely food and excellent service. Extremely friendly staff. Dog friendly. Part of the estate but unlike some other houses you do not need to buy a ticket to use the cafe or gift shop. Good selection of food with vegan and gluten free options - wine and beer available if you fancy one. Highly recommend.

Excellent service and food. When I rang to book an afternoon tea for my mums 90th birthday the lady was absolutely lovely and couldn’t help enough, when we arrived the staff were all so lovely and helpful and the food was delicious. It really was excellent and we’ll all be returning.

Me and my partner booked onto the valentines afternoon tea for a little treat and it was one of the best value for money afternoon tea I have had, the food tasted so good such as the sausage rolls tasted local sourced with maximum flavour and the quiche was a nice size and then the red velvet cake was to die for so spongy and delicious And the little touches of heart biscuit made it really special We would definitely book on this again

Managed to get a child free visit for coffee and lunch. As always was amazing. Good coffee and food as always. Friendly staff and great service

I had the best sandwich I have ever had in my life. This small resturant was amazing with a good variety on the menue. I had the chicken BLT with mayonnaise and salad which unbeleivable, you sould go.

Been here a few times now and the food and serve has been nothing else but top notch . Don’t understand these people that give this place a bad review

The cafe on site lets this beautiful hall down After queuing for 20 minutes to order food then getting what we got “total disappointment”One of our party has special dietary requirements and they couldn’t even provide toast for our friend as they don’t have toasting facilities. The children’s lunch box meals are an absolute disgrace On the menu board it stated that you get sandwich , treat , fruit and crisps. The children also got a small drink all of this for £4 . When it arrived there wasn’t a full sandwich the children got half a sandwich in each lunch box. We also got adult meals too. Which was sausage sandwiches and halloumi and guacamole in a pretzel roll. For £6 each I expect better then it to be served on a paper carton like a takeaway and cold . Drinks all in disposable cups and disposable cutlery was accessible for us. Not very environmentally friendly at all. Also it was stated on the menu that the halloumi and guacamole came in a pretzel roll but it came in a crusty roll I heard they had ran out of pretzel rolls it would of been nice to of been informed of this when I ordered the food. I had to take my daughters meal back to the kitchen as sandwich was advertised as cream cheese and cucumber filling never had any cucumber in. The staff was very polite in adding the cucumber Won’t be eating in this cafe again !!!!!

I have been going here for a good few years, nice walk round the grounds and having afternoon tea, but after today I will not be going back.Coffee in a paper cup luke warm.Sausage sandwich raw in the middle on paper plate waiting over 30 mins for it The worst food I have ever tried to eat, I put it in the bin.

Explained to my family on previous visits to the Stable Cafe, I was impressed with the food, we should visit the cafe.Unfortunately, we were all very disappointed with the new menu, the quality and presentation of the food was very average. On the specials board, for example, was ham, egg and chips, call me an honest Yorkshire lady, but to me that is not pulled ham with egg in a sandwich and the chips were actually crisps. The leek and potato soup was tasteless too.Ordered a pot of tea for four, what came along a builder’s mug with tea bag in. The cutlery was at the side of the cafe to collect, but in containers, which could be easily contaminated by other people touching them, had to ask for pepper and salt and serviettes. What is it with the enamel plates, poor presentation. Strongly feel the new style for this cafe has not considered general community it attracts, trying to be trendy but missing the basics.The young woman serving were pleasant and helpful, but feel strongly, the management were sadly lacking.

Have visited here a couple of times since the new owners took over what was previously a mediocre cafe and I’m sure I will be a regular visitor in the future. Food on offer is delicious and I love that the Stables is more upmarket with healthy options available as well as tasty treats. The extra touches with presentation make it even more special along with pleasant, friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit and if the sun is shining, a great place to enjoy the food and the beautiful surroundings.

Dropped in on the Stable during a cycle ride and was pleasantly surprised by the quality on offer. The new owners are clearly making a real effort to introduce new and exciting food alternatives whilst keeping with the traditional of the stately home location. Value reflects the offer. Enjoyed my second visit a couple of weeks later as much as the first. Staff pleasant and service relaxed enough to allow patrons time enjoy the surroundings. Dave

Simply the best afternoon tea we have ever had. “Baker girl” Bea is very creative and super talented at what she does. Thoroughly enjoyable - every single bite of the decadent food was delicious. Can’t wait to go again.

I have visited twice recently with my family including my grandchildren. Staff were attentive and friendly. The Avo and Egg was delicious. We also sat outside and had coffee and cakes (plenty of choice of homemade cakes and scones) and the children were able to play on the grass. Great place for families and good quality homemade food.

We visited the Stables Kitchen after walking the grounds of Burton constable with the dogs. Upon walking in it seems as every detail has been crafted and perfected.

Gorgeous home made food in a beautiful location coupled with fantastic staff with eco friendly values. An absolute all round winner for our family. Our daughter loves the children’s menu and as a parents it’s brilliant to see proper food and not the standard microwave rubbish! One of our favourite places ❤️

Visited Stables Kitchen for the first time this month and will definitely return.

We visited last week with our large family and the children enjoyed playing on the grass and watching the wildlife while eating. The service was outstanding and the staff very accommodating. My husband is a chef so we struggle to find nice places to eat and he rates this as excellent. Super all round and we will be returning very soon!

Just visited and it will not be the last time. With 2 loud kids under 5 and my grandma who has severe dementia finding some where to spend a couple of hours without giving me a mental breakdown with tantrums over food and disturbing others is like finding a needle in a haystack but this place has done it all! With lots of room for the kids to run and play and amazing staff which understood how difficult catering for dementia can be, my morning was easy. They were happy to provide food which was not on the menu and even reduce the size of food from the adult menu when the kids fancied something not on the kids menu. Not to mention my food was amazing, unique and delicious. Well worth a visit. 10 out of 10

We visited for the first time and will definitely be going back! The coffee and cakes were amazing. The cafe was decorated nicely, clean and was well put together- staff were really efficient and friendly. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside- there its lots of seating outside and it such a beautiful setting!

This was the third time visiting the stables kitchen, lovely food that was enjoyed by all and a brilliant atmosphere to go with an overall lovely night. So much thought and detail went into the night and the hard work by all staff was much appreciated. The butterscotch pannacotta was beautiful, as were the sausage roll and scotch egg, and all of the food served!

We visited for Sunday brunch after hearing good things. The food and coffee was really excellent - fresh, modern and interesting (the exact opposite of the usual dreary microwaved tea room offerings you might expect). My 3 year old was spoiled for choice with the children’s menu, which was great value for money. The cakes looked so amazing that we decided to take some away with us as we were too full (and they tasted as good as they looked). There is an interesting specials board that would keep me coming back every weekend if time allowed! Can’t wait to go back. I’m really excited that this place exists in rural East Yorkshire and lucky that it’s pretty much on our doorstep. Highly recommended!

I have visited Stables on a few occasions now and cannot fault it.

We visited recently and have to say, we loved it! We were made to feel welcome, we loved the range of foods and that it offers something different to most cafes!! You can tell everything is made fresh - my sandwich was amazing, the only thing I’d say is that I wanted more! Ha. We took our dog for a walk after our visit and even popped back for cake afterwards because the range on offer was so good that we couldn’t resist. It was hard to choose but the lemon curd muffin I picked was easily the best muffin I’ve had. Doesn’t everyone love a good muffin?! We’ll be back for sure!

Visited this establishment yesterday whilst attending a craft fair next door. So, a tea rooms that serves hot drink in disposable cups ? Seriously??? If that wasn’t strange enough one of my relatives ordered a scone with ham and butter. This was served to our table in a polystyrene “take away” box ! When asked if the scone could be warmed we were informed the microwave wasn’t working ??? Seriously, a single microwave??? Maybe we caught them on a bad day, however after discussing our below par experience with others who have also used this cafe it became apparent that ours wasn’t an isolated incident sadly.

I have visited a few times now and it’s our place to go if we want to go out and have a relaxing breakfast/lunch .My young son also loves it and says they are the best ham sandwiches he’s had :) The food is amazing beautifully presented and is cooked by one of the best chef/bakers in hull .Me and my husband try something different everytime and it’s all delicious .Warm cosy place with friendly staff .Keep up the good work !

we visit this tea room often but this is the first and last time this year. New people are running the tea room and have completely changed the menu and most of it is now more suited to a coffee bar in Leeds than a tea room in a stately home in East Yorkshire.we didn't stay and we were made aware that we are not the only disapointed people.

Oh my gosh! It was mine and my sons first visit to Burton Constable today - and we were not disappointed! The staff were lovely, we were served super quick and our food arrived even quicker. I got my son a kids meal deal and it was great value for money, served with a drink and snacks on the side! I ordered a sandwich which was enormous and one of the best BLTs I’ve ever had! We ordered scones to take home as we didn’t have enough room for seconds but I’m sure it’ll be just as amazing. We can’t wait to come back ! Big thumbs up from us

After hearing very good things about Burton Constable Cafe I visited it only to find that it had changed hands. Though it was an adequate cafe it did not match my expectations. Expectations raised by a number of people who had been regular users of the cafe. The coffee was not good and served in mugs and a bit too expensive for what it was.

Will never visit this cafe again, menu was terrible not much choice not heard of some of the food. Just wanted some normal food like the cafe use to offer. Very expensive. A lovely cafe now spoilt

Disappointed with the choice on the menu. I had no idea what some of it was for example a potato latke? The steak and gravy sandwich wasn’t very tempting. Plumped for a soup and cheese toastie, the soup was very nice but the toastie was tasteless. The coffee was not very warm and I would have preferred a pot of tea rather than a mug. I have been to the cafe before and it was very nice I think the menu could do with a review I used to love the eggs benedict it’s a shame it’s changed so much. The surroundings and decor are lovely and the staff were very nice.

We regularly visit the cafe at Burton Constable Hall. Since it’s been taken over I have to say it’s lost the plot. The menu is over complicated and expensive.
