Stable Bar in Edinburgh, City of

When things go well it's very good - plenty of seating outside in the nice weather and there will be plenty space inside when (if?) they get they Saddle Room finished. However, when it is busy things can go downhill. Staff are pleasant but could be better organised and there doesn't seem to be anyone in charge. As a result it can often run out of things including beer and glasses (be prepared to get served in a plastic container if you are sitting outside at busy times). Booking is essential at peak times and the kitchen closes quite early.

Whilst staying at Mortonhall caravan park we decided to try the restaurant for an evening meal. Greeted by some friendly staff who showed us to a table and took our order. Steak & Ale pie was delicious and a generous portion my partners mac and cheese was also a good size portion but he did say it had too much sauce for his liking. Restaurant was very traditional and welcoming although maybe a little on the cold side given the size. Would return if staying on the caravan park again.

Ate out twice here during the 5 days I stayed at the adjacent caravan park. As a former resident of Edinburgh and lover of this bar, I was devastated to discover that, in its new incarnation as the only eatery and pub available to the captive audience of hapless campers, the food and service now reflects the complete disinterest in providing any sort of pleasurable experience. The bar and wait staff appear inexperienced and completely lacklustre whilst the food ranged from passable to very ordinary. The patties in the burger could have come straight out of the freezers of tescos, tables were left strewn with empty glasses and plates long after the occupants had left and the bar staff spent most of the evening chatting amongst themselves or on their mobile phones. Despite the temperature being low for the season, no attempt was made to heat the interior. It was freezing cold. Prospective customers were being told that no food was available after 8 pm. Absolutely astonishing for a bar catering to travellers arriving at various times from overseas.

We stayed at Mortonhall camp site in Edinburgh. Fantastic site with great staff. We thought stables bar restaurant would be the same. Boy were we wrong!! The veg with the steak and ale pie was soggy and cold. The scampi overcooked they try to hide that it had previously been frozen and whoever made the tartare sauce made it in a vinegar factory. Awful food. The one man band murdered every song he attempted to sing. Just a racket with about 15 little kids dancing round our table like hi de hi. Not relaxing. There were about 10 dogs in the restaurant which is ok when on leads but one scrawny miniature poodle type thing not on a lead, tried to jump onto my lap to get at the steak pie. There were no proper drinking glasses and drinking Merlot out of a half pint plastic cup was dire. The table was sticky and not wiped down. When I mentioned this at the end to a very young barman, we left our meal, he apologised and said they were short staffed and couldn’t do everything. A properly trained supervisor would have helped. Mortonhall, we will be back for sure, you have a wonderful site and staff. Stables bar and restaurant…….. never again. Bad end to a great break.

Stayed in the campsite for 2 nights Friday and Saturday tried to book through the QR code on the leaflet from campsite after many attempts it did not appear to be working so walked over and we decided to have a few drinks and some food however was told we needed to book and all the tables were reserved but were given a table but needed to vacate in just over and hour so that was fine Weather was really hot and the place was pretty busy tables outside were all full also bar was extremely busy with a big queue and in the time we sat noticed around 8/10 families came in the ask for table and ended up walking out disappointed so maybe extra staff or a better system is needed as a business owner myself I noticed many missed sales opportunities due to people just walking out and leaving Inside was dark and not that inviting so maybe a bit more light a good idea Outside the cobbles looked difficult to navigate for many elderly or anyone really so possibly something could be done there maybe Astro turf just an idea also it was very hot and the tables outside would have benefited with a parasol again another observation Staff were all young but very helpful

When we arrived we were met by a waitress who tutted when we changed our minds about eating outside and was just genuinely so unfriendly and unwelcoming. Luckily she was not our waitress for the night and we had another very friendly girl. I wish I could remember her name so I could give her a shout out. The food however was bad. I would have complained if i wasn’t with my teenage girls who find it so embarrassing. I managed to eat my burger but I’m not sure how it was like eating the bottom of my shoe it was so burnt. My daughters garlic bread was also burnt.

Called in regularly before Covid, and would have always scored 5 out of 5, but this recent time one of the best parts of the Menu had gone... (small portions).Nothing to do with cost, but meant leaving waste food for disposal, something I am totally against...Staff still very good hence the 2 out of 5 score.

We visited the restaurant around tea time, it was fairly quiet and we were shown to a nice table well spaced from the others. We had starters, I had soup which came with 2 slices of sliced bread, my wife had Nachos, her dish was Huge the size of a main course. I had a steak pie for main and my wife had a chicken salad. Overall I think the food quality was excellent and good value.Dropped a point as we asked for some water in addition to our other drinks but never received it.

Arrived there tonight just afer 7pm to have dinner and drinks with my wife. We were met at the door by a very surly girl who asked what we wanted and when I said that ideally, we wanted to eat and drink she said "no, sorry the kitchen is closed" I asked what time the kitchen closed at and she said "yes, sorry it is closed" and promptly turned and walked away and left us standing at the door before we could say anything else.Not satisfied with this, I entered the bar and sought another waitress about getting a table and she asked what we would like just drinks or food, I told her that originally, we wanted food and drinks but we had been told that the kitchen was closed and she said sorry that the kitchen was closed so I asked her what time the kitchen closed and she said 8.30, so I asked her what time was it now and she looked at her watch and said, oh the kitchen is still open and asked us to choose a table and she would send someone to serve us, which she did and the food and service from that point was very good. The one surly girl who had originally refused us spent most of her time from then on sitting and drinking with presumably her boyfriend at a table outside while the other waitress rushed around serving people, I was not sure if the surly girl was actually working there at some times. The one surly girl later told another table next to us that the kitchen was closed when they asked for desert, but our waitress (the pleasant, busy one) later took our desert order and served us desert some time after that.The one surly girl does not belong in a place like this and it is unfair for her to skeive off while her workmates pick up the slack, but, the bigger problem for the Stable Bar is that the management allow this to happen and do nothing about it. That one individual will lose you custom and get the Stable Bar a bad reputation, we will definitely not go back there to be mistreated again. The customer always has a choice where they spend their money and this sort of treatment is not acceptable today.

As a previous regular customer we ordered macaroni (good) fish(good) and two burgers which were raw in the mjddle. The replacement burger were no better and again returned . This was disappointing to say the least but the staff were caring. One point, there was NO Covid record taken.

Lovely wee place food was excellent had no complaints with the food what so ever would highly recommend it to anyone all the staff that were working on the day of my visit were wonderful.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch today thankyou. Great service from very pleasant staff, good selection of food and we were both very pleased with our choices. These days, for myself and I trust many others, Covid measures taken by establishments are a huge part of venturing out anywhere, and we were not disappointed, everything had been taken care of, toilets spotless and smelling of bleach - all good. Wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend.

Staff attitude excellent. Lovely welcome. Very Covid safe environment. Food great and good value. Can’t speak highly enough of this place 👍👍

I only had a Nacho starter but it was tasty and a big portion! My friend had a flatbread main course and throughly enjoyed it.

Visitamos por primera vez esta noche, ya que estábamos alojados en el sitio de caravanas de al lado. Si nos hubieran servido en Wetherspoons, estaría feliz, sin embargo pagamos 92 por esta comida y el precio no estaba justificado.Mi cigalas estaba bien, venía con una ensalada grande y patatas fritas y, lamentablemente, la mayoría de las cigalas estaban empapadas con el vinagre balsámico de esto. La pizza de la niña también estaba bien y se comió la mayor parte. Tanto la hamburguesa para adultos como para niños estaban secas, el pan de la hamburguesa del niño estaba rancio o congelado y no se comió, junto con toda su hamburguesa extremadamente seca. Los platos se recogieron cuando estaba en el baño y el único comentario que se hizo sobre nuestros platos bastante llenos fue cuestionar si queríamos una bolsa para perros.El personal y las medidas de Covid fueron buenas, la comida decepcionó a nuestra visita y dudo que volvamos si volvemos a estar en la zona tristemente.

¡Visitamos aquí todo el tiempo y nos encanta! La comida siempre es increíble y el ambiente es excelente, ¡también se admiten perros, lo cual es perfecto! Desde que reabrió el servicio ha sido un poco más lento, pero la calidad sigue siendo excelente y el personal lleva máscaras y gel de manos disponible. Seguiremos visitando como siempre

He estado aquí un par de veces desde que reabrieron. El pedido se realiza escaneando un código QR y todo se siente muy seguro, especialmente si está comiendo afuera.La comida es decente, recomiendo el pescado con patatas fritas o las hamburguesas, y el personal es amable.Pub que admite perros también.

Fuimos aquí la otra semana. Primera vez desde que volvió a abrir. Genial para ver el lugar atrás y tomamos unas copas que disfrutamos.Llegué a casa más tarde y señalé un par de cosas en Facebook Messenger con respecto a las personas desafiantes que no usan máscaras, ya que el letrero exterior indicaba que deben usarlas. Me dieron una respuesta de escape y luego me bloquearon para recibir más comentarios.He intentado ponerme en contacto con ellos por correo electrónico y no he recibido respuesta hasta ahora.

Situación ridícula en la que tienes que reservar primero por teléfono, pero no te dicen al hacer la reserva que debes traer una máscara si quieres caminar dentro del bar al baño, etc. Luego, cuando apareces, una pequeña señora actúa todo malhumorado cuando dices que no tienes una máscara contigo.Servicio lento. Es ridículo tener que pedir cada uno de los abdominales, cada condimento mientras tienes que estimar cuántos usarás. "Sí, ¿podemos tener 2 salsa roja, una sal y 6 vinagres y 5 pimientos". Ridículo.Comida muy normal. No volveré.

I have been eating here for years and food has always been great. Never again after my first trip out in a restaurant. Steak burger burnt to a crisp and dry,no cheese or homemade relish on burger. Chips over cooked. I gave very polite feedback and we were given no charge for drinks. Big deal. I had tap water,my friend had lime and soda. I will not be back.Don't waste your money

Well....as a very fussy vegetarian who visits regularly I was impressed with the food service and seriously grateful that I wasn’t cooking. Things still so difficult and these guys are AMAZING

Overpriced basic food presented without thought.chips and a burger no side salad with a watery sauce on it. Sad to say Wetherspoons is better at half the price.The place is dull and allows pets so it smells after it's name The Stable.The place and menu look great on the Website but in reality you will be disappointed.

I would just like to say that Covid 19 is changing things but, I’m not being funny but we booked a table here today, we was told when booking that we had an hour and half at our table to drink and have our meal, we arrived at 18:45 and waited 30 minutes for our first drink, we got half way down our pint and ordered another, by the time we had drunk our first pint it was another 30 minutes after that before our next drink came, they then came to the table to ask for our meal order, I had the steak burger which was a normal burger with some rotten lettuce on it and a slice of tomato, not sauces and not cheese or no bacon on it as I asked for, 2 adult meals and one child’s meal can to £54:35 wil two pints, sorry but it’s a joke, you have been warned, I will never go again, there taking the ............

Friday 28th Feb and it's lunchtime. The weather outside is cold, sleet and horrible. We walked into the bar at sat near the log fire and the waitress could not have been nicer. Drinks tea, Cullen skink fish & chips x 2. The food was really nice and well cooked as was the soup. Can't fault this place and I eat here about once a month on my trips to Edinburgh from Morpeth. Will return at the end on March.

¡Nos quedamos una noche en el campamento de Mortonhall durante la tormenta Dennis! Y cenamos en el acogedor bar estable frente a la estufa de leña del viento y la lluvia, fue encantador, comimos filetes, muy agradable y muy ocupado. El personal era amable y el servicio bueno. También son amables con los perros, lo cual es genial.

Me alojé en el campamento y fui al restaurante durante la tormenta Denis. ¡No se encontró una mesa agradable y vino un chico! ¡Extremadamente abrupto y nada amigable! Incluso mi hijo de 7 años comentó lo abrupto que era. Aunque una estufa de leña en el lugar estaba helada. ¡Los asientos sucios y los husillos no parecían haber sido desempolvados durante años! ! ! La comida era de primera clase, sin embargo, el servicio impactante! !

Realmente una gran noche en el Stable Bar con un menú temático de tres platos de Burn, Cullen Skink para comenzar, buenos trozos de pescado fresco con pan suave casero para mojar. Haggis Neps y Tatties con una salsa de whisky diabólico para el plato principal seguido de Cranachan para el desierto. Todo regado con música de Velvet Scoter's. El personal siempre es muy atento y excelente compañía, no puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficiente, solo recuerde reservar con anticipación ya que es un lugar pequeño y son muy populares y después de una visita sabrá por qué.

Booked for 9 people ( 6 adults and 3 children and a baby) @ £60.00 per head for adults. Booking was for 3.30pm on Christmas Day. We arrived at 3.15pm but did not get our table until 4.00pm, previous sitting was holding us up. While waiting we were told by one of the male waiters that we were in the way where we were waiting but there was no other place to wait other than out in the cold.

My boyfriend and I checked the menu online before we meant. None of the dishes marked with VG were actually vegan but we just assumed they would come with the non vegan ingredients taken out. There were a few options marked vegan on the online menu but only two on the menu when we arrived at the restaurant. Nachos and a halloumi burger with mushrooms and red pepper humus, I enquired as to whether the vegan option was just the burger with the mushrooms and the red pepper and the waiter said he thought so but he'd go and check, then he returned and said the option was actually a Quorn burger. When the burger came it didnt have mushrooms or red pepper humus, so very confused as to why this was marked with V on the menu, it also came with coleslaw I asked the waiter was the coleslaw vegan to which he replied I assume so. Considering they took very little time over putting vegan options on their menu I was dubious to believe the coleslaw was vegan, my boyfriend tried some and didn't think it was. The burger was hard on the outside and too soft on the inside. I never ate it. Options for vegans have greatly improved over the years. Eating diary will cause me an allergic reaction as I have built up an intolerance. It should be treated the same as any allergen, correct information given to customers.This was a very outdated treatment and I felt very much like they didn't want my custom or that they thought well you are vegan and fussy you will just eat what you are given. I suggest looking at other restaurants and seeing what they are offering, if you don't get enough vegan customers to offer a vegan option, then don't bother, let us go elsewhere were we are better looked after. Thank you

Maybe not the jolliest thing to write about!! Booked the Saddle Room here for a funeral tea as it was really close to the crematorium. The staff were lovely and attentive and the food was all I could have asked for. Everyone I spoke to was impressed with the food. Have used the bar/restaurant in the past And it and good food/beer and a great atmosphere too. Dogs welcome.

Second time visiting here for gluten free food first time 5 weeks ago was OK, but tonight was amazing! I got gluten free chicken piri-piri burger it was all fresh an tasted so nice, but I asked about the onion rings(as the first time I came i never got as they couldn't accommodate) but tonight the chef did accomadate for me, I got told "he is a new chef" an what a great chef that was!onion rings so nice as like the rest of my meal, staff where very friendly and would highly recommend.

Vinimos a comer con la familia un jueves por la noche. Éramos un grupo de diez y tomamos la precaución de reservar una mesa; esto resultó ser una buena idea ya que el lugar estaba lleno. Es fácil ver por qué. La comida era excelente ya un precio muy razonable. El servicio fue excelente. Estuvimos unas buenas cinco horas y definitivamente volveremos la próxima vez que estemos en Edimburgo.

Food was amazing the service was peachy and the scenery was lovely. To sum it all up it was just peachy 😉😉

Visited with 3 friends during Edinburgh festival, we visited during a very busy session (much to an impatient friends horror!) but could not fault the service. Three fish and chips and one roast ordered. Really great food and atmosphere, lovely welcoming staff

I arrived with my Mum who needed a seat with extra support. The staff were incredibly understanding and gave us a place to sit while they found something for us. Within minutes they had found a table and we were seated.

This was our second visit to the stables this week as we are holidaying on the campsite next door.

Been to the stable many times over the years under the previous ownership. This is the first and last time under the new management. Food and service were dreadful. Staff were rude and unprofessional with a couldn't be bothered attitude. The staff in macdonalds are better. The food was dreadful too. If this place did not have a captive audience from the campsite who are transient and the establishment was reliant on local repeat business it would be in trouble. Avoid.

Much better than your average camp site bar. Excellent food and service. Everyone is so friendly. A very good choice of food for all tastes and really well cooked.

Este es un lugar encantador para pasar un par de horas. Lo gastamos para escapar de la lluvia torrencial, fuimos a tomar una copa y nos quedamos a comer. Un corte por encima de sus bares de camping habituales que puede ser un poco ruidoso. Muy buena comida y mucha a precios razonables, no te decepcionará. No es una buena comida, pero es una comida realmente encantadora con muchas opciones en el menú, vale la pena una visita. Ciertamente no volverás a casa con hambre y el menú es interesantemente extenso. El vino era muy bueno al igual que la cerveza. El personal es sensacional y el servicio excelente. No hay nada malo con The Stable Bar y muchas gracias.

I know why we tried this again after 2 years it’s because we live close by and it makes a lot of sense. The last time I reviewed the restaurant the manager responded by saying my review was wrong and it was not his resturant. This just makes the situation worse trying to tell a customer they reviewed the wrong restaurant is laughable and makes them look pathetic and desperate. The manager is clearly wrong I walk past every day I know the name of my local resturant. Anyway thought we would try again to see if there were changes. Sadly again poor service and the food is really poor quality They don’t seem to be able to get this place right.

We visited on the hottest day of the year and we throughly enjoyed every bite!

Enjoyed 2 meals during our stay at Mortonhall caravan site. Food was nice and courtyard and bar very pleasant. Only gripe was we waited a long time for our food on both occasions.

Difficult to find this place but the search is rewarding when you do arrive there. Converted stables and a very nice pub/restaurant. Nice people. Good food although we had to wait a while.

We had just moved in to the area and got recommended this by friends. Well worth a visit. Food good. Staff good. Good location.

Went here for a family meal last night and had fantastic service from start to finish even though towards the end was very busy, luckily we went fairly early.

This pub is situated in a lovely courtyard and looks like a traditional country pub.

Almorzamos aquí la semana pasada. No había estado aquí por un par de años, pero no había cambiado. La comida era estupenda, con una buena elección en el menú y el tamaño de las porciones también era bueno, aunque me hubiera gustado un pudín más grande. Sin duda recomendaría visitar aquí y volveremos pronto

Somos muy afortunados de que este pub sea local para nosotros. El personal es muy amable y el pub en sí está en un lugar hermoso con vacas y caballos en los campos circundantes. La comida es sabrosa y asequible, y el menú es extenso con buenas opciones para vegetarianos. Incluso hay una tarta de queso del día! Reservar una mesa los fines de semana, ya que puede estar ocupado. El cuestionario gratuito del pub no es fácil, así que reúne a tus amigos para darle una oportunidad.

Un pequeño y encantador lugar escondido al lado del campamento MortonHall, pero no dejes que eso piense que esto es algo por debajo de lo normal. menú de clase superior, gran calidad (teníamos hamburguesas de venado y salchichas de cerdo y morcilla con puré de haggis). Servicio excelente y muy atento. perro amigable también, así que volverá en el futuro como una tabla de 3!

Un miércoles tranquilo cuando visitamos, aunque había tres perros con dos señoras y un cuarto perro en otro lugar del establecimiento, se portaban bien aunque eran ruidosos en los momentos en que pasaba el cuarto perro. Si no te gustan los perros no es un lugar para ti.

We had not been to the Stable Bar for a few years and, after today, cannot understand why as we had a superb lunch. Menu is so extensive that it takes ages to decide what to eat but everything was beautifully cooked and delicious. Huge portions, so much so that we had to share the puddings as we did not have enough room. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and the whole atmosphere was cheerful and welcoming. We will not leave it so long until the next visit.

Not our first visit but one of the best, my companion is very particular with her meals and the chef got it spot on, the front of house staff are also among the best.Happy to recommend this friendly, delicious bar/restaurant

Returned here in need of some predictable comfort food. The usual pooch parade welcomed us. Waitress with no knowledge of drinks stumped over first two queries, husband went to bar to check for himself, she loitered.... Asked to give us a moment, didn't see her for 10 minutes! Another waitress took up the challenge. Placed order - getting two things wrong - sorry but at the risk of sounding ageist - don't employ bairns who aren't interested!

Ate here twice. The sirloin steak is the best I have had in a long time and we had the Sunday lunch which was also nice. A little bit pricey but good quality food

Had a lovely night at the Stable bar with family. Food was excellent as was the service. This is a really comfortable restaurant and bar and what makes it even more appealing is that it is dog friendly. Will definitely be back

While staying at the site on our first evening we decided to give this a try, the food was lovely, I had the haddock and chips and my husband had the lamb and black pudding pie, both were delicious and the staff were very friendly. We will return.

Nice place, good service and great food however, we felt like we were eating in a dog kennel. At one point there were 7 dogs around us, a couple of them whining and barking. Great if you love dogs but others may notice the smell and one of our group is allergic to dogs. Turned into a very uncomfortable night. Would have scored 5/5 if it was just for humans. Won’t be back

A large and diverse menu of pub favourites and 'home cooking classics'. Something for everyone! Yummy food and cosy atmosphere (despite lots of seating)! An excellent choice for dinner with friends or family!

Having never been here before but i had heard you got a good meal there, the menu has everything from small to large portions with a good selection of foods. The meal was very good with each course served at good intervals bearing in mind the size of the large portions. Its ideal for families and its reasonably priced for the food on offer, very pleasant staff giving a good service, will make sure to return for another meal.

The service this day was bad, 45minutes from ordering to service but let me say the game pie I had was excellent and the 4 other guests enjoyed their meal. Watch when you visit is my only advice.

Während unseres Urlaubs in Edinburgh waren wir bis jetzt drei mal dort und wurden kein einziges mal enttäuscht! Die Bedienung ist nett und das Essen war immer sehr gut! Das Bier natürlich auch! Das Ambiente in einem alten Natursteinstall der umgebaut wurde ist urig und der offene Kamin macht den Gastraum zu einem Hingucker.

We spent 2 nights at the camp site so ate here both nights. Lovely place, great staff and good food. We had a wait the second night but the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and compensated for this. Very popular place so best to book, lovely surroundings and very pleasant place to be.

Popped in for a meal with and friend and stayed for the live music from a local singer Leona Rae, excellent choice of music and a great voice. My friend and I both had the venison and haggis bolognese absolutely mouth watering if your visiting I highly recommend you pop in, may be best to book a table first as it can get busy

In for a meal with a friend on a Saturday night before entertainment started. The two of us both a Venison bologneses and it was out of this world. Compliments to the staff and especially the chef because that was beautiful. I certainly would recommend having it.

We stayed in Mortonhall Caravan Park and this bar is adjacent. It is really lovely with friendly, helpful staff and great food. We couldn't fault it and we heartily recommend it for a peaceful drink or for a lovely meal.

Para terminar nuestro viaje por carretera 500 nc nos alojamos en el sitio de campamento durante dos noches y comimos en el bar una noche estable. Estaba muy concurrido, tenía un ambiente agradable y un menú variado. El personal trabajó duro y muy amable y podría ser un viernes han hecho con otro par de manos. La comida era deliciosa todos tuvimos algo diferente. Está idealmente situado para el sitio de campamento y recomiendo la comida y cerveza.

the beers were good and the staff were nice but not enough of them. the menu was excellent however, being generous, when the food came it was average.

We regularly stop at the stable bar we are out on our Bikes and have always enjoyed a friendly welcome ,the restaurant is not overly expensive and has a peaceful atmosphere.

Tenía un bocado rápido antes de salir por la noche con un amigo. Mi amigo tenía el venado Bolognese que disfrutó y tuve la cerveza que también disfruté de abadejo. Luego tuvimos que cayera toffees apple también disfrutamos. Debo agradecer totalmente y el personal para Lesley su servicio espléndido y sin duda volveremos.

We arrived early afternoon, and when we ordered the food we were told there was a 40 minute wait, which didn’t really bother us, the food arrived, hot with good presentation, I was most annoyed to find a caterpillar in my lunch, just proves that the salad has not been washed before preparation ....... and basic catering skill and food hygiene are not being followed in the kitchen, I returned my lunch there was no apology just OH OK the gent took me plate and walked away !!! 20 minutes later still no replacement lunch I went to check on it.. and the male serve said I will go check and continued on serving the people he was serving he arrived with my plate handed it to me, and walked away!!! Clearly no catering experience no apology and not even a token gesture to say sorry !!! Not impressed at all......

We had a rare night out from the kids and set off all excited. We arrived at 8:20 on a Saturday night, order drinks, sat outside and read the menus. Tried to order food at 8:30 (a plate of cold tapas) and was told the kitchen closed in 15 minutes and they were too busy. Maybe our fault for not booking but felt a plate of houmus and nibbles wasn't too hard to construct. The food walking past us looked delicious though and the tinned nuts were nice.

Went for a meal here while on holiday at the campsite near by, the service was good and polite, the food was average paid extra for gourmet chips which were only frozen fat chips this was a little disappointing as we were expecting gourmet chips!!! Other than this the food was cooked well my son loved the fish.

The sun was shining and Edinburgh was “showing itself off”. Having walked for seven miles through the city this was going to be the ideal lunch stop. The menu looked good and the food seen looked excellent. One of the party went into the bar area to order drinks. He was completely ignored by the bar person who was far more intent on chatting to her friends at the bar. After some “encouragement” and perhaps a sign of annoyance the drinks were served. Not sure who decided upon the nondescript staff uniforms but all black isn’t ideal. Once a member of staff was spotted within a request was made but the mumbled reply indicated that they were too busy to serve food outside, where we were seating, due the high number of “checks on”. However the inside of the premises was almost empty, and the request was changed to “can we order inside then?” The almost rude reply was dismissive and a sharp “no” was received. However while sitting in the outside stunning surroundings food was still being served. A conversation was stuck up with persons sharing our table, they too were under whelmed by the service but were told that the wait for food would be about an hour due to a large party coming in. What a pity that the staff in this impressive establishment couldn’t show a bit more respect and good quality of service.

Visited the Stable Bar tonight and ordered the smaller portion of fish and chips. Usually these are huge portions and I would be left wondering how anyone could manage the large portion. This was not the case tonight however. The portion of fish I was served was like the usual portion had been quartered and I had been served a quarter. The batter to fish ratio was excessive and I struggled to locate said fish. Underwhelming to say the least. I am more disappointed in myself though for forgetting to take a picture of my plate, I think I was so worried the tiny portion would disintegrate before I got to it.

Reunirse con amigos para comida y bebidas. Buena mesa en esquina para nosotros 5. Todos tuvimos comidas diferentes. El bar estaba muy lleno, pero nos dieron un buen servicio. Todos disfrutamos de nuestra comida y luego todos tuvimos un postre. Muy sabrosa y una buena noche tenía por todos. He estado antes y volveremos, también agradable para sentarse en el patio para tomar un café.

Aunque entendemos que esto es un edificio muy antiguo los propietarios están lejos con asesinato! Fuimos con nuestra hija de movilidad reducida que, afortunadamente, para llegar por la puerta principal sin su silla de ruedas. Antes de salir pagamos una visita a las mujeres y era imposible para 2 personas (uno cuidador) para entrar en los aseos, así que después de una gran cantidad de problemas que tuvimos que salir para encontrar otro wc. No hay razón para este lugar para no estar pensando en las personas en sillas de ruedas. Experiencia muy embarazoso. Creemos que los propietarios están involucrados o el propio Leadburn Inn y el caballo de zapatos Inn at Eddelston - Espero que más ha sido pensado en los demás edificios. Me encantaría oír del propietario o voy a probar y correr él/ella a través de la Departamento de Licencias del Consejo de la ciudad de Edimburgo

My husband myself and teenage son visited tonight (29/04/18), we used to be regulars here years ago but have to say since it's been taken over this is about our third time here. We thought we would give it another bash and sorry to say we won't be back. I had the roast beef which I have to say was nice not tough but the gravy was just to thick and really just smelt like bisto, the veg was okay but the presentation just wasn't right either. My husbands fish and chips just came flung on plate usually fish and chips come with nice chunky chips, his were like skinny fries that looked uncooked and he said they tasted awful with the fish flung on top. My son just opted for chips as there was nothing catching his eye, which was hardly surprising as their menu is like reading a book just laminated a4 paper which has been typed up no line spacing between the items it's hard to see where one dish stops and the other starts. Their shabby chic look in the back area just dosent do it for me it should have a more country feel like it did before. So dissapointed and not worth the money.

Este es mi local bar/restaurante que voy cada fin de semana. La comida es maravillosa aquí. En lo que yo estoy varie tener, pero está fuera del mundo. El ambiente es genial, incluyendo clientes habituales que vienen y el folk están entrando por primera vez. Leslie y el personal es amable y un montón de trabajo muy duro alrededor. Sigan con el buen trabajo chicos y dígales a sus amigos para cenar y beber vino.

Estábamos en zona de caravanas y fuimos a cenar. Tuve la Cullen gomera mmmmm sé mi sopa e incluso hacer una muy buena esta fue tan buena como la que hacen. Mi marido tenía morcilla de empezar luego venado burger disfrutó cada bocado. Yo tenía una papa al horno. Lo mejor fuera de todo era que nuestro perro madrugada llegamos a sentarse con nosotros en la cena y le encantó su sueño y él hizo un nuevo amigo o 2. Volveremos.

Stayed at the campsite and came for dinner here more than once! Turned up at 4ish the first day ask about booking a table for that night and squeezed us in for 530. We then booked for the following evening. Dinner lovely both evenings - crumble to die for! Drinks well priced and friendly staff - just what was needed after a long drive up! Well recommended.

This is my local pub but last Sunday was the first time we'd eaten here for a while

My wife and her friend were there on a Wednesday and they raved about the meal my wife had fish and chips her friend had the pie both enjoyed there night out,

We visited for a 2 course meal bought on a deal & were not disappointed. The meal was very well cooked & presented. It looked freshly cooked & served to us by friendly staff. A lot of dishes to choose from the menu at reasonable prices. Bar drinks are also very reasonably priced with 2 soft drinks & 2 beers costing just £10.40p.

Nice bar and great on a Monday as the do fantastic Fish and chips 2 for 1 never had a bad meal dog friendly pub with a lovely fire and good wifi

Vengo aquí a menudo ya que normalmente la comida muy, pero aquí la semana pasada me quedé muy decepcionado con la cena con asado de cordero.

We had lunch here a few days ago! I chose the chicken and bacon baguette with mayonnaise. If I had known the mayo., was to be the main ingredient I would definitely have chosen something else! To say it was overdone would be putting it mildly! It was probably bought in already mixed! The baguette was good quality, just spoiled,in this case by an awful filling!!

This pub is very local to where we stay, but we have not visited for some time, mainly due to a limited menu.

This is a very friendly pub/restaurant, the food was delicious and the staff were lovely. It's dog friendly and they have water and even biscuits for them. Would definitely go back, it was the best bit about staying at Mortonhall.

Had dinner here recently - food was just average but really enjoyed the overall experience & atmosphere of the place . Very friendly & welcoming staff.

This was a simple grown-up birthday lunch. School was out and there were several family groups and the restaurant was full. The staff were busy and generally competent and friendly. The food, of course, was delicious and generous. But, there was a slight mix-up with our order which led to some delay. We were in no hurry, but when the problem was noticed our bill was reduced by 15% and everything was settled amicably. All in all, it was a very satisfactory experience and we would not hesitate to return.
