Extremely expensive for what it was. Nothing special. Over £200 for 2 diners. My son had beef which was on the specials menu. Three tiny slices of beef, two pools of puree and half a grilled tomato. £45. I had duck breast. Soggy fat layer. Tiny decorative salsify and two small odd dried out potato dauphine but not enough to constitute a main course. We had to order extra sides. Strange. Out of the 6 tables in the part of the pub we sat in, 3 complained about food (we didn't complain). One about quality of another steak dish, one about the same duck dish I had and another about something she insisted was taken off the bill. Whilst our waitress was utterly charming and clearly doing her best (hence why we didn't complain) the delay between courses was very long indeed. We were second to last out of the pub restaurant (only 9.20pm....) and whilst they could have waited a few minutes while we finished our meal, the other tables were being noisily cleaned with spray cleaner which didn't help the taste of the desserts. Awful experience, expensive mistake.

My wife and I visited, and yeah, it was okay: I enjoyed it. VERY expensive for what it is, we're reasonably local and there's a plethora of very similar Michelin aspirational gastro-pubs just off the A30 offering an equivalent but at a lower price. My fish and chips was good. More than enough, tasty and reasonably priced. My wife's crab concoction however? Comically tiny (maybe half a cup, if that) not helped as it wasn't suggested sides were ordered to beef it up to snack size. At thirty quid, forty-two with sides, the quality (far too much fennel, far too little crab), ambience and service just didn't match. To be honest, I think the place is hoping, rather than delivering, but good luck anyway.. It's okay. Maybe if your visiting from London a significant mark up on the competition is wholly incidental, but there was just this feeling of 'all fur coat and no knickers' and that you're patronage was to enhance their reputation and business model rather than make your week. Good fish and chips though. Cornwall in August is a lottery.

I booked a table at the St Tudy Inn on the back of a recommendation from someone who knew the pub (and (of course) scanning the reviews on Trip Advisor). We weren’t disappointed. In short, the food was excellent. For starters my OH and I shared plates of padron peppers, garlic prawns and scallops which were well seasoned, super juicy and cooked perfectly. (It’s worth noting the scallops were not like the weeny ones we had a couple of nights previously in St Ives for the same price. These tasted much better). Likewise, our mains of seabass and crab ravioli were fantastic; the sea bass was well seasoned with lovely crispy skin accompanied by a creamy crab mash and the crab ravioli were full of flavour and cooked perfectly. Portions were generous too!! For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding and summer fruit crumble which again were delicious. Service was prompt but not rushed. At a whisker under £127 for 2 it didn’t feel too expensive and I would definitely come again. In the round, I can’t see why the St Tudy isn’t at least mentioned on the Michelin web site when compared to one of its neighbouring pubs; it’s just as good.

We enjoyed a superb meal here with excellent service. There was a lovely atmosphere and it was very busy. The beer, wine and gin we tried were great. We tried the cauliflower cheese soup, zucchini, sea bass, seafood linguini, sirloin and ice cream. Everything was delicious. The staff couldn’t have been any more attentive and friendly. What a lovely village pub.

Had a terrible meal here tonight. Wasn’t busy when we arrived but wait for starters was around 15-20 mins and when they did arrive they were incredibly underwhelming. My partner had the salmon which was under-seasoned and was missing elements listed on the menu. He also found a crab shell within it which was sharp, fed this back but nothing was done about this. I had the beetroot and goats cheese tart which was incredibly sweet, under seasoned and very small for the £10 price. For mains, my partner order venison which was well cooked but the vegetable sides were under-seasoned and not even fully peeled. I ordered the special Beef Wellington and had to send it back. It was not a wellington - it was a piece of beef wrapped in pastry. No crepe, no mushrooms, no spinach. The beef itself was not a fillet as described, was over cooked and chewy. The vegetables alongside it were again unpeeled and under-seasoned and the crushed potatoes was just butter and mushy potatoes. Waited for a waiter which took about ten minutes and by then my partner had already finished his meal so sent the meal back without reordering. Wellington was taken off the bill and swiftly left after declining desserts. Was still charged £61 for two starters, one main and one round of drinks, only one in which was alcoholic - a beer. Pretty upset by the entire experience. Staff were lovely but were obviously understaffed and the food was a massive let down. Will not be returning.

I’ve given this place two chances recently and the food has been really poor. Today I had ‘home made scampi’,which turned out to be 6 tiny squares of monkfish deep fried in very greasy batter. Scampi is made from shellfish not monkfish. For the cost the portion size was pathetic. The chips, tartare sauce and pureed peas were all fine but it was a very average meal. The staff are lovely and efficient but the food is very disappointing. I will not be back.

Stayed two nights. Food excellent. Fresh, hot, good portions. Interesting menu. Hake with risotto perfect, though risotto perhaps could have had a minute more in the pan. Sirloin steak juicy and thick. Venison burger unctuous, chips good. Calamari enormous and soft with a very crisp herbed batter. Half a loaf of fresh sourdough with buttery mackerel pate and salted butter…great. Salmon and crab roulade good. Perfect, friendly service. Decor throughout clean, modern, comfortable. Although at first seeming remote, the place was busy even mid week in a wet November. Clearly a very popular and busy pub, and a good part of the clientele were local. We were the only ones staying overnight. Breakfast excellent. Full Cooked breakfast not overwhelming in quantity but attractively plated and with wonderful sausages.. Our smallish room had been converted a couple of years ago in part of a granite barn. Modern, spare, grey. Coffee pod machine, mop lime tray spring water and cans of beer. Clean, efficient. Biggish shower, hot. Water perfect. Heating easily controlled. Lighting a trifle dark. King bed, very comfortable. Lots of sockets including USB ports. WiFi storing throughout. Oddly, our room was not serviced during our time away on the second day. Not sure why. A criticism that might stop us staying again other than late spring or summer. The village is pretty, but apart from that there is of course nothing to do in the evenings outside the pub and guests are likely to want to watch tv for an hour or two. The tv is 20 inch diagonal (just as advertised). About the size of A3 paper. Rigidly, not swivel, mounted high on wall in the corner. The only place to watch from is sitting or lying on the bed. If latter, you are either 10 or 13 feet from the screen, depending on which side of the bed you are lying on. To read any text, for example, you need to stand up near the screen. It’s far too small. The other side of the door is a blank wall big enough for a 37 inch screen, roughly centred on the bed. Secondly, although a Smart Tv, it requires a set top satellite box and the interfaces are very fiddly to use. We could not, after an hour or so, manage t9 watch live BB1 or BBC2. At the very least, this needs a simple set of instructions.

The pub was busy, the landlord welcoming and the menu interesting. Our dog was allowed in if we went to a specified area. It was disconcerting to be required to pay for each drink and course individually, even though we were with a local. I suppose it is not fair to blame the proprietor for this if he has had tourists eating, drinking and running without paying which I presume is the reason for this off-putting practice. The beer was good as was the food, however our waitress was the rudest I have ever encountered! She had less charm than a prison guard. I thought of complaining but it was so extreme that we ended up laughing at what could have been a Monty Python sketch. We may well return, hoping that there has been a staff change.

Very welcoming, Great ice cream flavours. Especially the Ferrero Roche and Millionaires shortbread. Lady went above and beyond for our dog letting her sit in the shade on a 25 degree day to enjoy her pup cup. Thank you!

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.
