St judes grill in Plymouth

Never had a bad meal from here. Very friendly staff and the portion sizes are massive. Ideal takeaway. Food always hot which is ideal

I promised I would write a review if I was impressed...I was. The kebab was amazing. I ordered a chicken shish and kofta kebab. the colour and flavour of the chicken reminded me of tandoori and was perfect. the kofta I expected to be a sausage, instead it came as more of a pate. but this too was great. thoroughly happy. the staff were very nice and welcoming. and the prices were cheap in comparison to the kebab shops in Plympton. my local kebabs are poor and over priced. I really liked that you could taste the char from the grill, the ones in Plympton use a hot plate which just isn't right. the chips were home cooked and peeled too, not the pre packaged chips that taste rubbish. it really made a difference. I would like to add some recommendations, red wine vinegar spiced red onions and picked red cabbage would take this experience to a next level. I would love to have some of this in my next kebab. easily my new favourite for those kebab urges. will make the 10 minute drive in a heart beat.

I have ordered here a few times in the past, but I realised that I never dropped a review. The staff were kind and included some extras, with generous portions sizes, as well. A couple times, they made their chips fresh, and it was very delicious. One thing they could improve on is the pizza. I find it alright, but it could do with a little bit more flavour. Other than that, a good place to go for a takeaway night.

I my opinion this chippy is a good one the first time I visited I had a medium finger with all salad and sauce as the gent was serving it up he said would you like to try some chip I didn’t decline it was generous nice and hot fried chips to perfection. sausage in batter was delicious curry sauce nice flavour but could be a little thicker . Very friendly staff we be visiting again as I live just down the road yum yum

A large lamb shish for £8 with barely 6 small pieces of meat, a bit of lettuce and a tiny chilli. Shan't bother in future.

This chippy has been a favourite of mine for a number of years however, when I went this week it was not good at all. The fish was still a good size but the batter was terrible. It fell off the fish and stuck like glue to everything else. The chips had a high proportion of very small potato pieces and few proper chips. This, coupled with the serious hike in prices has made me think I need to find another favourite. I will give them one more try after that...

You know when you find a place that is good, but you don’t want to share it because it will become busy? Well this is the best take away in Plymouth and it serves everything, the prices are cheap and the portions are good, plus when your normal chippy is shut at around 9:30pm this place is open till 11pm Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed and Thurs and 12am Fri and Sat. You tell me a chippy open till those hours. The staff are always friendly and get you seen to as quick as possible. The only downside is parking, but it’s worth finding a parking space nearby and walk a short distance. This place deserves 5*.

Had take away fish 'n chips from this place many times over the years and they are consistently very good. Massive portions, always decent fish and chips, very well priced, not too expensive and always a friendly service. One of the best chippy's in Plymouth!

Best Donner's in Plymouth. Don't bother with the large you will never eat it all. Always clean and you can see all the prep/cooking area. Been eating from here for over a decade never ever once had any complaint.

I really love this shop so felt I needed to write a review to commend all that work there. I have to admit I do tend to eat more of the general fish and chip shop food so unable to comment on the other food they sell but i'm sure it's just as good. It is really tasty with great size portions and the fish batter lovely and light and not too soggy, which has improved since using the boxes. It is always a busy place whenever I go there and they seem to know the locals well. I enjoy the food so much, since I have moved out of the area, I still continue to return.

Have tried this place several times now for kebabs , but this time tried the fish and chips for a change . Have to say for me it was really good ,chips just as i like them ,the fish perfectly cooked and moist with good batter. Some of the best fish and chips ever for my tastes

Despite appearances - this place does amazing food. Usually my wife and I get the chicken shish kebabs and the meat is always delicious. Chips are tasty and HUGE portions, and the battered cod is also very good. Always get a friendly welcome, and after only a couple of visits the staff get to know you and your orders (not sure if this is a good or a bad thing!). Would advise to call ahead with an order on a Friday evening as it is usually packed!

Cant comment on the fish and chips , the pizzas are ok. Fairly good Doner kebabs, i have tried two now all served by friendly staff and usually get some free chips , cant be bad.

The battered cod here is some if the best I have had anywhere. Sadly they do not do skate or haddock who h is a shame but I guess it doesn't sell.

Es mi favorito, el personal kebab shop amistosa y agradable, son ellos tolerar clientes de forma amable. La tienda es muy limpio y ordenado. Siempre con una enorme cantidad de alimentos para una buena relación calidad precio, aparte de la mayoría de las veces me dan una gran porción de papas fritas gratis. Normalmente creo que pago menos de l conseguirlo. Los ingredientes son todos frescos y deliciosos. Realmente deseo su comida porque siempre tienen un regalo para ellos.

Las patatas fritas tienen ojos negros en ellos no es un pescado y patatas fritas, para llevar muy sobrevalorado. Mi error ir allí, siempre se pegan a nuestro lugar habitual por la carretera en Atlantic Freidoras .

Una vez cada pocas semanas que mi regalo a un kebab. He vivido en todo el Reino Unido y puedo decir que la parrilla de la calle hace un a travez de jude! Una gran relación calidad-precio y una patatas fritas pocos en el lado gratis! Lo recomiendo encarecidamente!

I tried this place after reading a glowing review in the local newspaper. It is abit further then I would normally travel but it really is worth going the extra mile for this place. I just had a small Doner kebab with small chips and the portion was very generous. The kebab was lovely and the chips also. I would definitely recommend and visit this take away again.

We had the fortune of moving in the area of St Judes Grill 7 years ago. We ate there our very first night in Plymouth and have continued ever since.Somebody did say below that the chips weren't the best and for a time I would have agreed, but now they are much better.All food is good value and very tasty.Keep up the good work guys

We moved to St Jude's about a year ago and couldn't understand why so many people were excited that we were in walking distance to St Jude's Grill, given it just looks like any other kebab shop from the outside... Now we've firmly joined the fan club! The chicken shish here is incredible. By far my favourite thing to order from the menu but the fish and chips iare brilliant as well. The chips may well be my favourite of most I've tried from takeaways in Plymouth. Staff are always friendly and helpful over the phone or in person. Highly recommended!

A great little chippy that sells not just fish & chips but lots of other things. My daughters love the pizza and chicken nuggets. Great value and great portion sizes. Always friendly and usually give my youngest a lolly or a drink if we have to wait too long! Definitely worth travelling a few miles to buy a sneaky takeaway!

Good service, quick and friendly staff. Good price for a chip shop. However I ordered a 1/4 burger and it was not nice at all. Burnt and basically a lettuce bun with the amount of lettuce put in there. Only giving it 3 for the time we waited and the nice staff. My partners kebab was once again ok.

As soon as I walk in the door they know exactly what I want! We buy our fish and chips there every Friday.The fish is out of this world! My son and grandson always buy a kebab when they visit us and they put some chips in with the kebab! I don't know what pinkypop123 was moaning about as they would never turn a customer away!!! They need to take a lesson in grammar!

Best take away in Plymouth, the guys in here are always really happy and polite, best chips I've had from any take away and there's plenty of them, pizzas are great and it's the only place where I enjoy the donar kebab when I'm actually sober! Be great if they would introduce fried chicken and spicy spuds at some point and then st judes grill really would be complete! We even now have friends that live out of the area will travel to st judes grill for tea after trying their food while visiting us. Fantastic choice and great value for money! Highly recommend these guys to anyone !

Sorry to say that I went in here and a man was so rude to me I never wanted to return he , wouldn't let me buy chips because I already visited on that day , and brought chips so I said ok can I order a burger he said no u came today already and this is ur secound time i need to serve others , I didn't even like the chips in there to be honest it was for my family not for me and they were Greece touch salt and vjneger for my licking never will return !!!

My local chippy, and have been going for years, but would make the journey even if i didnt live close- my favourite chip shop. very good sized portions and value for money in my opinion, with the quality of the food being very good. always go there for a large cheesy chips or a fish and chips- gorgeous. and the staff are very nice and friendly, always very chatty and good to the regulars, always being nice and throwing in a few extra chips or a bit of kebab meat at the end of the night

Had a donner kebab and chips, salad was just coleslaw with a whole green chilli in it and only 1 slice of tomato. Chips were nice but I still wouldn't recommend unless you have no idea what you're tasting and you just want a quick chippy.

Well down towards the eastern end of Salisbury Road this is off most people's beaten track but occasionally the rest of us wander and I have recently had a very efficient and tasty simple snack from here. And close by was a little co-op supplying a cheap pack of cans to go with it. If you didn't know it was here try it sometime.

I personally go for the biggest kebab they have its £8.50 but you get two pittas with it. Its well worth the money and it has all the different meats and salad; they even throw a few chips on the top!Normal donner is £4, if there is two of you go for the big one....bargain!

Loads to choose from, friendly service, kebabs are spanking. The chips aren't the best, considering it was once a really good chippy, but for pizzas and burgers and kebabs it's blinding.
