Sausage and bacon baps were just what the doctor ordered (in my mind anyway). Good food, great value and a lovely cup of tea in a glass mug. Sitting on the seats next to the marina with the sun shinning. It does not come better than this.

Didn't do anything one of my children would eat we r a family of 6 all 5 had a meal and drink totalling £35 ish we bought chips from somewhere else and a old woman didn't let me have 2 squart of sause on my child's chip even know we bought food there! How rubbish is that!!! I Will not be going there again ... ps we did have sause on everything elce

Just had a coffee, it was fuggy, I think the milk was going bad, I was very ill that afternoon. I'm sure there were others.

We have been dining at Captain Jaspers for years but the burgers yesterday were disgusting. I think they have changed meat supplier recently. The food has been excellent until yesterday. I hope they change back to the previous supplier.

Love it there love the location over looking the boats moored in Sutton harbour . Nice bacon baps with fried onions lovely good value too … open air eatery .

There are usually some impressive bikes parked up and freindly Hairy Bikers willing to talk about their wheels! We had a mug of hot Bovril and watched the world go by.

Capenhurst jasper's Well wearth a visit if you're on the barbican

I challenge Captain Jaspers to serve a bread roll more stale than mine. If I dropped that bread roll on my foot I would have broken it. (My foot).

Long wait for food, not the best food either, staff, young staff barley speaks or smiles to customers

My No1 favourite Pit stop when out on the bike around Plymouth! The Staff may have changed but they are still as friendly and cheerful. Keep it up!

A lovely place in lovely surroundings. Enjoyed a sausage and onion 1 foot long roll. A great visit.

A group of us meet up there to have breakfast before getting the ferry across to drake island the service was very good the staff were friendly and bacon rolls were the best I've had in a long time.

Great food although service a little slow

Sadly, not like it used to be. Have always visited Jaspers when in Plymouth for the long sausage in a roll. The sausage was not a complete sausage, It was cooked cut open and poor quality. The roll was too soft and doughy and broke apart trying to eat it

Had the double burger with cheese and bacon - this was the biggest and best burger I have ever had - it was sunny on the Barbican so excellent to eat outside in the sun . Will definitely be returning soon -

It's the best burger i ever had in years

This used to be a great place, never particularly healthy but was nice to eat. This time the food is greasy, the tea has doubled in price but stayed the same size, and the menu which used to be on the side of the serving area has gone, meaning you're now blocking the order point when deciding what you're having.

Every time I’m taking a walk to the Barbican, I always take a stop at Cap’n Jaspers for a small bite. For me the burgers here gives a street burger shack vibe and may be that’s what attracts me most of the time. The burgers are tasty and portions are big. It’s good value for money although it is not the most hygienic or the best burger place in Plymouth, but if you are craving something greasy and street style - this might be something you need to try!

Well over priced, and not very good food. Great as a novelty, and used to done here regularly. Unfortunately the prices have kept rising well above what it's worth, considering the quality of the food. It's a shame as although never the best food, it was an interesting place to visit. Sad times, as will not return.

Originally from Plymouth. Came home from West Sussex for a week. Really nostalgic to visit Captain Jaspers. Best burger that I have ever eaten and I was in the catering trade for 27 years.

Another great Plymouth dining out, food is massive and very good 👍, prices are good for what you get, one of many good land marks of Plymouth. Great views, surroundings.

Poring with rain today but I know you guys have covered seats so off we go. Food was fine coffee not as I remembered. The covered seats were a complete fail, got just as wet under them as out. Covers only on one side, waiting for the boss to bring them down I was told, as if it’s only just started raining. It’s not anyone’s fault it raining but I will only go back when the sun is out and it’s dry. Shame really, if only the covered seats were dry it would have made for a much better experience.

We had 5 delicious burgers whilst waiting to get on the ferry. Yum!

Just cheap catering burgers at mega money. Go to Iceland and buy the cheapest burger they have. Put that in a Bap that’s falling apart. No Butter just the grease form the Hotplate its been cooked on. And you’ve got the idea. No one uses gloves. Didn’t see anyone washing hands after order border. Used to be brilliant. With big burgers but now. Just relying on the name. And before the owner says the usual “they are award winning burgers etc etc “ be honest and just serve quality produce.

90p for a cup of tea, free motorbike parking...it's a Plymouth landmark, especially for bikers. Cakes, coffee, tea, bacon, sausage, eggs and burgers. Can't go wrong.

Always pop in to Cap'n Jasper's when we visit Plymouth! A fab place for a burger etc. Between 4 of us, we had a Jasperiser, a white house burger, cheeseburger and cheddar porker, washed down with tea, coffee and coke. Absolutely delicious and at fabulous prices!!! Lovely friendly and efficient staff, food was cooked perfectly and all in all we were very happy!

It seemed good value for money regarding the food but when I asked the person behind the counter for some hot water to put in my coffee they denied me on the basis that they were not allowed.

Not a patch on the old days. The bread rolls were awful. Cheap produce. Such a shame. The enjoyment was ripped from our hearts. The flavour being absorbed by the fullers earth in the bread. The captain won’t be angry, just disappointed.

Great location, good price but the burgers don't taste of Beef, I had 4 crunchy bits of gristle too. Not great, threw half in the bin. I'd rather pay and extra £2 and have good quality butchers burgers in there.

A plymothian classic... Great food at a reasonable price. I would have to highly recommend the jasperiser or half a yard of hot dog the two classics! The tea comes in classic glass mugs with a 20p deposit to return them. Proper good burgers!

Brilliant! I hadn't eaten here since being a student in 1989. Fantastic food and great value. I am sick of over priced 'designer' burgers. This is good honest food made to order. I had the Jasperizer, and as they do not do chips they suggested I bought some from a local chippy which I did. Burger and chips over-looking the marina, heaven. Visited again this year (2023), burger still brilliant but the massive hotdog was a real let down. Have the burger! Steer clear of the massive bread stick with a couple of little cheap sausages hidden in it somewhere.

It's a dining out but in kinda experience, with absolutely great prices and fun staff! Bring a coat!

This is Plymouth and the Barbican to me. Been coming here every possible trip to the area for 35 years now. I remember when there was a branch inside the student union at the uni! The vibe is great, the location by the water is stunning and the food is great. Watch your food being cooked and salivate as you see what you think is your order going to someone a few ahead of you in the always orderly waiting throng of customers. My favourite is a cheese and chilli burger. Others love the half a yard of sausage. A must do when in Plymouth!

Best fast food place in Plymouth

Like warm tea. Bun cut to thin on my jasperizer that the top fell apart. BLT very poorly put together was difficult to eat. I asked for a new bun but was told I'd have to pay again. very poor customer service, poor food. My advice is to eat somewhere else. I've visited this place alot over the years and the service and quality has deteriorated. Not very busy and tables were not clean. WE WONT BE BACK. I would have given no stars but doesn't go that low.

So I kinda like it here.... the bacon baps are yummy . Burgers are abit of a miss sadly. I think they remind me of cheap fairground burgers. If they made some I'd be more inclined to eat here all the time. The cakes are amazing. Cuppa tea spot on and very reasonable. Sadly it was spoilt by a very odd lady who works here... she seems to work o one side of the food hut, so I made a point of going to the other side . I couldn't make out of she was rude or possibly had some learning difficulties so decided it was best to avoid that side. I'd have given 5 stars through out, but the burgers need some serious changes. Will be visiting again as its a nice spot and good cuppa tea. See you soon

Sorry guys but I have been eating Jaspers since the 1970s and always enjoyed it until today. Too much salt and overcooked too incinerated. What’s gone wrong ? Cheese porker was good, BLT and burgers were not.

Amazing food at this traditional meeting place we go before the ferry, on summer days and always some friendly bikers to talk to as they seem to have adopted it as a must go to place in wonderful surroundings.

I ordered a black coffee (£1.20) but was told the minimum card charge is £2 and I can have a large coffee for £2.40. So I ordered the large coffee. Honestly, the only good things about this large coffee were that it was hot and wet. For my extra £1.20 I got a slightly larger cup and a little more hot water. The coffee was awful and didn't taste of coffee, more like boiling water with a slight burnt taste. It had a few sips then left it. The woman who served me wasn't friendly or polite, she didn't offer to help me carry my coffee and push my pram and juggle the bags I had.The tables and benches were slightly sticky/clammy and aren't comfortable.This was a complete waste of £2.40 and not a pleasant refreshments break. Not worth your money or time. Avoid!

i have been using captain jasper's since they opened in 1987, i have watched them move around the Barbican until they are where they are now, as bikers we use it a lot , it has the best coffee in Plymouth if not Devon, don,t take my word for it go and try it made proper with milk Hmmm, the best way, and as for the food well what can i say about it its the best around, you wont beat it and they wont be beaten on price where can you get a tea for just 90p the food is second to none, good wholesome food , anyone that complains, you need to get out more, keep it up guys, i was down there today 12th April 2021, and there they are Maggie and Chris, still there from the beginning keep it up girls still going strong, impressed glad you are both well.GREAT FOOD !!

Absolutely dreadful service from start to finish rudest girl behind the counter I’ve ever met been coming to jaspers for years never again 1st point refused to take my money was a Scottish ten pound note which is legal currency wivout any explanation just no can’t get over how rude tis girl was 2nd point coffee was disgusting only have black don’t think there was more than half a teaspoon of coffee in it 3rd point food took ages people complaining on how long it took by the time we got at two naps had to rush back the car as ticket had ran out drove to the hoe to enjoy are food well food went in the bin bacon was full off undercooked fat and sausages were tasteless sorry jaspers you have lost my 25 year + of custom the main reason was just how rude the girl serving was

It’s with a heavy heart I feel I need to write this , I’ve been going to Jaspers for over 30 years and it’s always been one of my favourite places to go for a quick bite to eat, the setting is fantastic and the staff are always friendly. However on recent trips the food has been steadily getting worse. We went there this morning on the bikes making the most of the short spell of dry weather. All had various baps and everything was burnt to a crisp and the quality was awful. This wasn’t the first time last visit everything tasted of Mackerel , not ideal in a Jasperiser. I can safely say that myself and friends will no longer be eating there, it’s just disappointing .

We were cold and wet after a rainy walk on the hoe, C'ptn Jasper's was a welcome find. Delicious jumbo bacon rolls and hot coffee for incredibly prices. Thank you.

I have been here hundreds of time in the past and it has been great but went this Friday , very covid safe, waited an age for 3 orders, I ordered a large Bacon/Egg with onions in a French stick, onions hardly cooked, stick was soft sub roll and the yolk was broken which was sodden into the tissue wrapped around the roll, what a mess and almost impossible to eat. Another order was the same with the egg, due to covid no tissues available and staff behind a wooden hatch. Really hoping this is a one off and the demise of the famous Jaspers.

Came here on a cold morning for breakfast bap. Really good ordering service during this lockdown period. Freshly cooked food, piping hot and the coffee as ever was lovely. Would I recommend this place to people, in the words of SIMON COWELL" IT'S A DEFINATE YES FROM ME!!"

Ven aquí todos los años, y es tan bueno como cuando era estudiante aquí hace 30 años. Buenas hamburguesas y salchichas servidas en pan, baps y palitos franceses de buena calidad. El personal suele ser miserable, pero eso me divierte. Muy buena calidad por el bajo precio.

Nos pusimos en marcha o en barco alrededor de la 1 pm, el barco realmente no parecía ir a ningún lado (solo alrededor de The Barbican)Después de lo que se sintió como 2 horas almorzamos, que fue fantástico palito de pan con salchichas y cebollas fritas.Este fue el punto culminante del viaje ya que el paisaje era el mismo.

Mientras visitaba Plymouth y caminaba desde la ciudad principal hasta la zona del puerto viejo, nos encontramos con esta pequeña choza. Capitán Jaspers. El menú se simplificó. Las hamburguesas eran para morirse. Ambos recomendamos la Jasperizer Burger. Asientos disponibles junto al muelle o se pueden llevar. Recomendamos.

Día glorioso en el Barbican, llegamos a Jasper's una visita no planificada, no estaba lleno de gente, todos estaban siendo atendidos de manera oportuna, la pantalla estaba encendida para proteger al personal, creo que la atmósfera de Jasper se ha visto ligeramente afectada por Covid como esto es un lugar de encuentro favorito para los ciclistas locales, las costuras comerciales volverán a la normalidad, el personal es tan amable y servicial como siempre, no tengo ninguna queja, feliz de haber venido.

Visitar Cap'n Jaspers es una gran experiencia ya que se ha convertido en parte del paisaje histórico de Barbican. He visto crecer este lugar en tamaño e interés durante los últimos 40 años y, sin embargo, la comida sigue siendo tan buena como siempre. Claramente no ha habido fallas ni atajos para que hayan llegado a donde están hoy y el buen Señor que fundó esta institución estaría muy orgulloso.

Qué sorpresa ser discriminado y amenazado por el gerente de cap'n jaspers total cockwomble. Comer patatas fritas en una de las mesas, como he hecho en muchas ocasiones anteriores después de comprar bebidas durante toda la tarde, el gerente se dirige descaradamente a mí y a mi esposa pidiéndonos que nos movamos con la actitud más importante. Sin embargo, ignoré a otra pareja que estaba haciendo exactamente lo mismo, regresó una segunda vez de la manera más grosera y trató de movernos sentándonos a la mesa e intentando sin éxito arrojar un trozo de papel sobre mi comida.Luego las afirmaciones de que tomaste mi espacio en la mesa, el lugar estaba casi vacío (no me sorprende con una actitud como la suya), su último intento fue amenazarme físicamente diciendo que me golpearía, momento en el que me reí y él se alejó en un Suspiro. Así que si quieres un gran servicio y buena comida, te recomiendo de todo corazón que vayas a otro lado.

No puedes ir a la barbacana de Plymouth sin mostrar tu cara al capitán jaspers. Té y café en tazas sin complicaciones, tan baratas como patatas fritas. Desayuno fantástico. Prueba la j grande y dime que te vas con hambre. No se puede hacer. A los niños les encantará este lugar. Esta es la manera de ver realmente la barbacana y apreciar la barbacana, tomar un buen desayuno a precios económicos y sentirse parte de la historia marítima. Probablemente conocerá a pescadores, guardacostas, policías, buceadores locales y otros turistas.

Shame they don't do chips to go with the rest of the menu, cos I bet if they did, they'd be the best chips in town - just like their burgers, bacon and sausages! - We'll be back for sure, and great value for money too

great little shack serving a variety of hot and cold food and drinks. Really good value for money too. I ordered a cheese burger with onions which was £3. Everything else on the menu is cheap too. Would recommend this place as a quick eatery to any one.
