I use to really like their pasties but now there is so much salt in them they have become inedible. I'm not the only one that mentioned this and also my mother can't eat them because she also says there to salty.

Great pastys, friendly staff, very clean and covid safe, can't wait for them to reopen the little cafe. Does have a few vegan (could be labelled better) options but prone to selling out.

Sadly a bit of a dissapointing lunch, only a single vegetarian option (cheese and onion pastie) which was really lacking seasoning and had a texture like glue. It's a real shame as looking at the photos and online menus it looks incredible but it feels like it has gone a bit downhill since then..

Bought 2 pasties and she gave me 2 that were darker than the others. Got home and they were inedible.obviously reheated. Solid pastry and very dry filling. Had to bin it. Trying to recoup cash by ripping off customers is not a good idea.I've been using this bakery for decades, never again.

. . ¿Si eso tiene sentido?

Cheap cheerful, basic, well cooked and a pleasure to eat a good meal. What really makes this cafe are the staff the lady that normally serves me is exceptional I have watched her with disabled people, a lady needing a support worker, students, older people with walking frames, singles and families... they all have the same level of attention and nothing is too much trouble. In case you haven’t guessed I frequently pop in for a fill up, recommend for a simple well prepared meal and being treated like royalty.

Two ground floor units on the corner of Beaumont Road and Gasking St are operated as Friary Mill Bakery on the right, 1 Beaumont Road, and attached on the left at 15 Gasking Street is the cafe, known until very recently as Friary Mill cafe, but now it has had a new awning and the premises are marked up, half anonymously as '15 Gasking St' but still looks similar to before inside. Same staff so far as we could tell but the general impression was that it looks as if it is ripe for a break away from the bakery shop. Watch that space. Ebrington street seems to to be experiencing an uncertain spell. Although the Good Coffee place seems to have firmly established itself, Brown and Bean seems to have been on hold since the summer and stalled relaunch in December, the lovely music shop closed last week and 'Tusk' the much publicised successor to Jack Chams which promised opening in November has also been dark and locked for ages and shown no sign of ressurection any time soon.

The steak pastie was appalling. Just gristle and potato wrapped in a thin under cooked and tasteless pastry. The jumbo sausage roll was ghastly. Just tasteless fatty meat rolled in fatty pastry. The bacon slice was dry and guess what?... yep tasteless. The caramel slice was dry The Eccles cake was all pastry and little else. We paid nearly £9.00 and ended up ill with diarrhoea and stomach pain. Thanks Friary Mill.

This is a lovely bakery but I struggle terribly to find what I want, every time I have come in and wanted something they never have it. Last time I went in they had no pasties what so ever except for sausage rolls. I understand that the bakery wants to reduce wastage but at 2pm?! These bakeries specialise in pasties but once they do an oven full, that's it? I went to this bakery and the one on ebrington street and it was exactly the same. Why not limit how many pasties are cooked instead of not cooking anything just because it's 2 hours before closing?

Not that far above adequate. The Friary Mill bakery business seems fast to be taking over every bakers shop in the city and they knock out pretty routine stuff none of which is alluring or tasty unless you are famished and in a hurry. So it is with this slightly dark and unexceptional cafe on the junction.

This bakery chain makes good quality products that are well priced. I like the fact that they don't try to be pretentious which invariably hikes the price up… Try one of their Devon Peppered Steak pasties - awesome! And on Fridays ask for a Honey & Spelt loaf - also awesome! I personally love the pink iced doughnuts, but then again I am a traditionalist

Stopped off at nearby Tesco and needed a hot drink and a snack. This small lowkey cafe is attacked to the corner bakers shop. Late Saturday morning there were just two other customers, no one behind the large counter display but nothing in it bar three or four fuzzy drink cans. I'd expected a selection of cakes and pastries, maybe some pasties and filled rolls but there was no food on show. Took four or five minutes for the staff to appear and then they came out and cleared some empty plates before tending to me. I asked if they had food and was met with a gruff 'what do you want?'. I settled for a quick mug of tea and cheese and onion pasture which must have been fetched from the shop next door or out back. Dumped unceremoneously on the counter. Fairly cheap though. Dispiriting experience. I probably won't come back but it may serve its purpose. Not much else at this end of Ebrington St.

Not sure why someone has asked for this to be listed under restaurants/ ages etc. This is one of many branches of the group of local bakers shops. Nothing remotely out of the ordinary, mostly pasties, filled rolls, tin loaves and various sweeter stuff including vanilla slices and pastries. Sadly Friary Mill failed to resurrect the old Tudor oven when they took over Britain's then oldest working bakery Jakka's in Southside Street. Decent interesting artisan bread is now only available through the Royal William Bakery and the column Bakehouse. Friary may be local and expanding but they add little to the choice and quality available in the city.

A very enjoyable afternoon/ evening. The staff were on the ball most the time , but come teatime when the amount of people grew another staff member behind the bar would have kept the long queues down for drinks. The males in our group were saying that your prepaid ticket system was a better more efficient idea. The layout of covered /non covered seating areas was a good idea. Access for everyone was good although wheelchairs may have struggled on the rough ground. Families with pushchairs were fine. Everyone was welcome from babies to more mature members of the public. Dogs were on leashes and well behaved. Our group chose not to have food on site but the menus looked good and varied. Saying that, dirty chips at £7 I thought was expensive. The 1st entertainer was very talented, the guitarist was good and clear but could have had the volume down abit so people could hold conversations without shouting.... Next was a band called viscious kitten, now they were awesome... quite fast paced, straight into each song to another, good varied choices in songs, got people up dancing, young and mature. Thankyou to everyone who'd made our evening so enjoyable......see you at the next one.🍺🍻🍺🍷🍷🍽🧃🥤🧋
