Food ok not remarkable so disappointing Service very slow My second visit and it will be my last which is a shame as it’s in a good location

First time guests. Beautiful welcome by host Ella. We are based in Hunston, and on our way from a funeral in Greenwich. Made very welcome. Will return, based on this experience.

Once again food superb ,we all chose Sunday roast and no one was disappointed. Great to have food delivered on hot plates ,astonishing amount of gorgeous,crispy roast potatoes which delighted one of my friends that must have eaten 20. Wish I had room for dessert as they looked amazing as they came out of the kitchen . Our server was brilliant ,interacting with us all in such a friendly manner . 2 of our party had never been before and both said they’d return . I’ve also had the takeaway Sunday roast on many occasions and would recommend this too . Thank you,Bev

We were staying locally and tried this for my birthday lunch. It’s a wonderful pub. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The food is fabulous. Well worth a visit

We have been regulars at the S&Q for more than 30yrs. Service has always been hit and miss, but the food so good we keep going back. Until now. After a long journey home from holiday, we took a detour to have lunch. Sat lunchtime, plenty of empty tables, but we arrived just after two big partied. .The young staff, were obviously out of their depth.and told us a long wait. That was fine, but we had forgotten our loyalty cards and they refused to allow us the normal discount. We left in disgust and ate elsewhere. What a shame neither the owner or manager were not there as they know we are members,and would have used their discretion.

Absolutely delicious meal this evening. The calves liver was sublime and the burgers massive and meaty. Don’t even get me started on the pavlova !! Highly recommended, we will return.

A group of 15 of us returned to the Squire and Horse lsat night for our annual dinner celebration. The food way up to its usual excellent standard and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We all enjoyed our food and have started to look forward to returning again soon.

Excellent food and friendly service on both Saturday & Sunday, allowed us to stop overnight in our motorhome. Nice atmosphere and pet friendly.

Having tried to visit a previous restaurant/pub only to find it closed and then becoming frustrated with roadworks and closed roads everywhere, we decided to head home and saw this pub which we'd passed numerous times on the way home from Chichester. How lucky we were that the original place was closed and road works forced us home as we discovered the Squire and Horse. Lovely atmosphere inside, very helpful staff and 5* food (if there was a 6* I'd give that instead). Liver and bacon was the best I'd ever had and my wife's pork belly was also superb. The home made desserts were to die for. We will definitely return to this establishment and sample other menu choices. Well worth a drive to visit here.

As per usual the food is fantastic and despite having to deal with a large party was served quickly. The roast potatoes are to die for as is the steak and kidney pudding. All of our large group seemed very happy with their menu choices. Very friendly and attentive staff despite a very busy lunchtime service. Well worth a visit especially if you are members of their club.

I’ve been to this restaurant a couple of times recently, the food is always superb and great attention to detail. Roast beef Sunday lunch followed by sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce is a match made in heaven.

Recently moved to the area, we’d popped in for a pint a few times before and had a couple of takeaways (very good). Finally got round to going for a meal today and we weren’t disappointed. Welcome was friendly, table by the fire as requested, high chair for grandson. Food was excellent, 1 x roast beef and perfectly cooked veg, and 2 x fish and (really fresh and crunchy outside/perfect inside) chips. We had 3 different desserts which were even better. Service was exemplary. We will be back soon to our new “local” without a doubt.

I love this pub. I go there a lot especially for the food! Service is always great as well. It's an excellent independent pub with nice home cooked food. The Sunday roast is also good, however it could be one the best in the area if they cooked nice fresh vegetables, but the microwaved veg just let's it down! Such a shame!

Really good atmosphere, lots of character and friendly staff. They had a table for two available, no need to book. The roast beef was perfect, cooked really well, roast potatoes also very good. The veg was so disappointing, this would have been the best roast dinner if the veg was better. It was very obvious the veg is microwaved, such a shame when the chefs are clearly more than capable.

We came for a family evening meal last weekend, and then again this weekend for lunch, both times we left very satisfied, great food, great service, it was just what was needed for a great family get together, puddings are unreal, thank you for having us, we will be back again

I have been visiting this establishment for years. Wendy, Nick and the whole team have always looked after me well. The food is excellent every time (sunday lunch and sticky toffee pudding worth travelling for)

Best roast we've had for a long time! Came to the squire and horse for sunday lunch for a birthday celebration, what a scrummy meal we had! The beef was cooked perfectly, I asked for slightly rarer for me and a little more done for mum and they accommodated, there were plenty of vegetables but the crispy roast potatoes were the star of the show! The kids had the chicken nuggets which were home made and yummy. Then there were the desserts, such a choice, we sampled a few and they were all delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for us, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and are looking forward to returning in a couple next weeks.

Came here for a Sunday lunch, it was amazing! Food was delicious, we both agreed it was by far some of the best pub food we’ve ever had! Staff super friendly and very attentive, already booked to come back and I’m sure we will be back again after that!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch in the Squire and Horse today, excellent service from start to finish. Phoned to book a table which went to answer phone, Carrie called back to confirm the booking very quickly.We were shown to our table on arrival and given menus to choose our meals, have to say the menus looked great so much to choose from, we chose White bait and a mozzarella and Tomato starter, followed by traditional Sunday lunch lamb and a beef,All done with homemade Yorkshires, roasties and a good serving of fresh vegetables, the gravy was the best I have tasted in years, (didn't want it to end). We finished up with the fruit pavlova and chocolate marquis, both to die for. The service was excellent, Carrie was a great host and her team very attentive. My wife and I went for an evening meal on a Friday evening. Lovely pub which is really a restaurant. Good menu, service and food. Plenty of parking but no Wi-fi and a poor phone signal on Vodafone. The only downside is even when fairly busy there is no atmosphere. Worth a visit.

We often passed this pub on our way to Chichester and decided to book a table. It was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Our meals were delicious and although we were too full to have a dessert we saw that many people were delighted with theirs! We will definitely visit again.

We met up with friends here and had a good meal plenty of choice and well presented. It is Southern Counties so the costs of delivery are high and paying the bill my thoughts were "a bit too much" but you take your choices. We would go again and they serve a nice pint of Harvey's. Usual gushing youth behind the bar and serving. One of the best things all country pubs should do is put someone mature behind the bar who isn't so pretty but adds perspective.

The food here was incredible as well as the service. We had the goats cheese and red onion tart to start, My husband had the curry and I had pea and halloumi fritters. To finish we had the night and day choc torte. All the food was amazing and the price was very fair.

Me and some friends stop here from work and what can I say food was excellent. I live in cambridge but would definitely make a trip back . Food was cook to perfection and portions very generous very nice traditional English pud. Five star.

I have to eat out a lot for work, I travel a lot. Sometimes, though I live only about 20 minutes from this pub, it's just too far and too late to get all the way home hungry.

We were so lucky when they called and said they have a table for 7 for Sunday lunch . The food was simply outstanding. All seven of us agreed that it was one of the best Sunday roasts we have ever had Absolutely perfectly cooked. As for the pavlova the BEST !!!! We celebrated a birthday here with nine in the party and found it very good. The service was quick and the servers very attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meal choices, and all were unanimous in voting to return.

Been here a few time now. But this time felt our evening experience was disappointing. My Mum starter and our dessert looked & tasted great but my main was lacking in taste and seasoning. Popped in for snack at lunch time on a Saturday. Got there about 12 ish . All started off great, shown to a table and a jug of water . Ordered quickly as felt a bit pressured. Food arrived fine had salad baguette. Nice and fresh ,just what I wanted..not a lot ofchoice for vegetarians.Had to wait a while for desserts. But it was worth it the best part of the meal. Was going to have coffee , but I suppose they got busy and seemed to be ignore. So decided not to stay for coffee. Ended up being over 2hours just for a snack .

Very good lunch we had the pork Wellington, which was lovely and filling, the surroundings were nice even for a miserable rainy day Only downside is they do noit take Amex, but this did not stop us enjoying the lunch which was perfectly acceptable

Went to The Squire and Horse today for my husbands and I wedding anniversary, the staff was so friendly and the food was so delicious. My family would like to say a massive thank you to Kim McCabe and Carrie Chargi for making us feel welcome on our special day, I would recommend The Squire and Horse to anyone and we will go again for a meal in the near future.

Had a lovely lunch today with family, the venison steak I had was cooked to perfection, the dining room had a nice feel about it with a fire burning all in all a pleasant experience. The service was attentive, we will definitely return in the near future. Thanks to all at the squire and horse.

Stopped off on way to Arundel - bustling bar and restaurant and made very welcome by staff before a tasty lunch. Ordered roasts - turkey and lamb. Excellent crispy roast potataoes and decent serving of meat. Vegetables were fine if a little low key and small scale compared the the rest of the meal. The highlight was the dessert - Australian pavlova with a tiny strawberry icecream macaroon which was a lovely pudding in itself. The passion fruit coulis, fruit and sweet and light meringue in the pavlova was a treat and very very moreish.

Had a lovely lunch here today. The food was excellent as was the service. Lovely to spend time with the family without being rushed. Will definitely be returning.

Well back again to the Squire and Horses and why not when you get delicious food and a warm welcome. This time we changed course a bit and dear old Dad resisted the brilliant steak and kidney pud. So just for a change it was the asian style crispy duck for both and the asian sharing platter. I think the sharing platter is well worth a shot, nicely grilled chicken satay that is moist and a generous serving of peanut sauce. Plump Thai fishcakes with a tangy dipping sauce served alongside a pot of crispy shredded chilli beef. Now the duck was a surprise, a large duck breast each served whole not shredded or sliced. The duck was just great, nice and tender with a crispy skin coated in that classic asian crispy duck sauce. It was a generous serving and every mouthful enjoyed.

Went for evening meal with our son who’s a chef and a bit fussy but wow we all had different dishes and we all agreed best food we have had in a very long time service ok friendly staff well worth a visit if you enjoy your food easy parking in the car park right on the A29

Steak and kidney pudding was very good, we both had it. However, there was a meagre amount of veg to share between us, about enough for one person let alone two.

Our favourite pub restaurant with wonderful fresh food. We have never had a bad meal and the options are varied and fresh. Top quality delicious food with a friendly staff. Perfect!

Another good roast dinner and fantastic dessert. We have been to this pub many times and it has never failed us. It offers atmosphere, good service and great food. Portions are not big, but not small either. Desserts are great. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough, I only wish it was nearer to us!

The two waitresses were excellent very busy but super efficient. Starters were amazing . I had the roast pork but it was very dry , maybe it was left under the hot lights too long.

We hadn't booked and were very glad we managed to get a table . We have driven past here so many times on our way to the coast and never stopped , we will definitely be stopping again. It is a cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere. We were greeted by friendly staff and had great service . 2 of us ordered Roast , 1 fish n chips and 1 Salmon and the food arrived as ordered and was delicious also deserts went down a treat too . Would recommend you give it a try .

Just had a lovely meal here. Party of 7 people - excellent food - there was little bit of a wait in between courses but the place was busy and we weren't in a hurry.

A lovely restaurant needs lovely people, lovely food, lovely wine and a lovely ambience. This place has it all in bucket loads! Between seven of us we sampled many parts of the menu (we all had three courses) and they were perfection. It would have been nice to thank the chef and his/her team personally but they would have been way too busy with food for all the other customers. The serving staff made us feel like part of the family.

Absolutely delicious home cooked food. Friendly service and open fire made for a wonderful experience.
