Weird that both of us said fab food but spoilt by a strange atmosphere. Listening to music while your eating is ok but to have adverts from the radio station is a bit odd. Also felt the service was rushed. No space between courses Shame because the food was very good.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch in the Squire and Horse today, excellent service from start to finish. Phoned to book a table which went to answer phone, Carrie called back to confirm the booking very quickly.We were shown to our table on arrival and given menus to choose our meals, have to say the menus looked great so much to choose from, we chose White bait and a mozzarella and Tomato starter, followed by traditional Sunday lunch lamb and a beef,All done with homemade Yorkshires, roasties and a good serving of fresh vegetables, the gravy was the best I have tasted in years, (didn't want it to end). We finished up with the fruit pavlova and chocolate marquis, both to die for. The service was excellent, Carrie was a great host and her team very attentive. We shall definitely return in the very near future.

My wife and I went for an evening meal on a Friday evening. Lovely pub which is really a restaurant. Good menu, service and food. Plenty of parking but no Wi-fi and a poor phone signal on Vodafone. The only downside is even when fairly busy there is no atmosphere. Worth a visit.

Had lunch here with friends good food if a tad expensive for a pub but we'll worth a visit if your in the area service was good and they have a good range of beers.

Finding a quality restaurant that is open on a Monday evening is not easy. We were delighted that our research took us to the Squire and Horse.

Called in on our way home not very busy but it was very hot warm welcome as always roast turkey very tasty and plenty of it king prawns enjoyable good service worth a visit with plenty of parking

Regularly visit whether it be for a drink or food. Never been let down food is always fantastic and staff very friendly.

Chose this pub as one of party is coeliac. He was well catered for with no contamination in the chip fryers. Useful to know for coeliacs.

Delicious meal and friendly service. Sword fish excellent and yummy puds. Second time there and enjoyed the ambience of traditional pub decor. Nice small patio garden.

We often passed this pub on our way to Chichester and decided to book a table. It was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Our meals were delicious and although we were too full to have a dessert we saw that many people were delighted with theirs! We will definitely visit again.

We met up with friends here and had a good meal plenty of choice and well presented. It is Southern Counties so the costs of delivery are high and paying the bill my thoughts were "a bit too much" but you take your choices. We would go again and they serve a nice pint of Harvey's. Usual gushing youth behind the bar and serving. One of the best things all country pubs should do is put someone mature behind the bar who isn't so pretty but adds perspective.

The food here was incredible as well as the service. We had the goats cheese and red onion tart to start, My husband had the curry and I had pea and halloumi fritters. To finish we had the night and day choc torte. All the food was amazing and the price was very fair.

My colleague and I decided to stop here for some lunch, as he had recalled this Pub from years passed and suggested it would be a good idea.

Me and some friends stop here from work and what can I say food was excellent. I live in cambridge but would definitely make a trip back . Food was cook to perfection and portions very generous very nice traditional English pud. Five star.

I have to eat out a lot for work, I travel a lot. Sometimes, though I live only about 20 minutes from this pub, it's just too far and too late to get all the way home hungry.

We were so lucky when they called and said they have a table for 7 for Sunday lunch . The food was simply outstanding. All seven of us agreed that it was one of the best Sunday roasts we have ever had Absolutely perfectly cooked. As for the pavlova the BEST !!!! I would highly recommend the Squire &Horse; restaurant.

We celebrated a birthday here with nine in the party and found it very good. The service was quick and the servers very attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meal choices, and all were unanimous in voting to return.

Some of the best food I have had in a while. All freshly cooked on the premises, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Best homemade ice cream - brandy and mince pie! Suet pudding was also superb - you have to go if in area

Been here a few time now. But this time felt our evening experience was disappointing. My Mum starter and our dessert looked & tasted great but my main was lacking in taste and seasoning. Maybe I just order the wrong dish! Service was not as good as usual.Two young waiting staff who most of the time were too busy chatting to even get their attention. Not sure I will be rushing back this time.

Didn't know this pub, popped in after finding it by chance. Warm welcome. Decided to order lunch, and was delighted with the food. The roast lunch was excellent, lovely roast potatoes, delicious flavors - superb. My companion had Kangaroo with was also delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered extra home made ice-cream with our pudding. Great pub!

Popped in for snack at lunch time on a Saturday. Got there about 12 ish . All started off great, shown to a table and a jug of water . Ordered quickly as felt a bit pressured. Food arrived fine had salad baguette. Nice and fresh ,just what I wanted..not a lot ofchoice for vegetarians.Had to wait a while for desserts. But it was worth it the best part of the meal. Was going to have coffee , but I suppose they got busy and seemed to be ignore. So decided not to stay for coffee. Ended up being over 2hours just for a snack .

Very good lunch we had the pork Wellington, which was lovely and filling, the surroundings were nice even for a miserable rainy day Only downside is they do noit take Amex, but this did not stop us enjoying the lunch which was perfectly acceptable

Went to The Squire and Horse today for my husbands and I wedding anniversary, the staff was so friendly and the food was so delicious. My family would like to say a massive thank you to Kim McCabe and Carrie Chargi for making us feel welcome on our special day, I would recommend The Squire and Horse to anyone and we will go again for a meal in the near future.

Stopped off on way to Arundel - bustling bar and restaurant and made very welcome by staff before a tasty lunch. Ordered roasts - turkey and lamb. Excellent crispy roast potataoes and decent serving of meat. Vegetables were fine if a little low key and small scale compared the the rest of the meal. The highlight was the dessert - Australian pavlova with a tiny strawberry icecream macaroon which was a lovely pudding in itself. The passion fruit coulis, fruit and sweet and light meringue in the pavlova was a treat and very very moreish.

Had a lovely lunch here today. The food was excellent as was the service. Lovely to spend time with the family without being rushed. Will definitely be returning.

Had a lovely lunch today with family, the venison steak I had was cooked to perfection, the dining room had a nice feel about it with a fire burning all in all a pleasant experience. The service was attentive, we will definitely return in the near future. Thanks to all at the squire and horse.

Well back again to the Squire and Horses and why not when you get delicious food and a warm welcome. This time we changed course a bit and dear old Dad resisted the brilliant steak and kidney pud. So just for a change it was the asian style crispy duck for both and the asian sharing platter. I think the sharing platter is well worth a shot, nicely grilled chicken satay that is moist and a generous serving of peanut sauce. Plump Thai fishcakes with a tangy dipping sauce served alongside a pot of crispy shredded chilli beef. Now the duck was a surprise, a large duck breast each served whole not shredded or sliced. The duck was just great, nice and tender with a crispy skin coated in that classic asian crispy duck sauce. It was a generous serving and every mouthful enjoyed.

Went for evening meal with our son who’s a chef and a bit fussy but wow we all had different dishes and we all agreed best food we have had in a very long time service ok friendly staff well worth a visit if you enjoy your food easy parking in the car park right on the A29

Steak and kidney pudding was very good, we both had it. However, there was a meagre amount of veg to share between us, about enough for one person let alone two.

Our favourite pub restaurant with wonderful fresh food. We have never had a bad meal and the options are varied and fresh. Top quality delicious food with a friendly staff. Perfect!

Another good roast dinner and fantastic dessert. We have been to this pub many times and it has never failed us. It offers atmosphere, good service and great food. Portions are not big, but not small either. Desserts are great. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough, I only wish it was nearer to us!

The two waitresses were excellent very busy but super efficient. Starters were amazing . I had the roast pork but it was very dry , maybe it was left under the hot lights too long.

Just had a lovely meal here. Party of 7 people - excellent food - there was little bit of a wait in between courses but the place was busy and we weren't in a hurry.

We hadn't booked and were very glad we managed to get a table . We have driven past here so many times on our way to the coast and never stopped , we will definitely be stopping again. It is a cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere. We were greeted by friendly staff and had great service . 2 of us ordered Roast , 1 fish n chips and 1 Salmon and the food arrived as ordered and was delicious also deserts went down a treat too . Would recommend you give it a try .

A lovely restaurant needs lovely people, lovely food, lovely wine and a lovely ambience. This place has it all in bucket loads! Between seven of us we sampled many parts of the menu (we all had three courses) and they were perfection. It would have been nice to thank the chef and his/her team personally but they would have been way too busy with food for all the other customers. The serving staff made us feel like part of the family.

Absolutely delicious home cooked food. Friendly service and open fire made for a wonderful experience.

We often visit the Squire and Horses for lunch. Its a favourite with my 90 year old father who loves the steak and kidney pudding. Its pretty good and what a hearty meal it is, but as a pub the Squire and Horses offers a lot more. The menu is creative and varied with several dishes showcasing the skill of the chef with Asian cuisine. Today I particularly enjoyed the Asian Platter as a starter. Great chicken satay and fish cakes and crispy chilli beef - I think. The Thai Red curry is very good.

Have been here many times, on this occasion we stopped to have a quick lunch bad had the beef burger and chips. Burger was cooked beautifully and the chips were crispy outside and fluffy in the middle. Had the torte for desert with was so good. Staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. Would come here again!

Good lunchtime venue, managed to serve 20 people very efficiently. Good choice of local ales. Small car park, but on-street parking too.

Visited this pub as a party of 20 walkers walking in the area. We pre-ordered the food and it was efficiently served by the very welcoming staff. All the light and main meals were superb and very fresh: a real find. On a main road so can't be missed. Certainly worth stop enroute to Arundel region. You won't be disappointed by the food and the quaint pub. Some funny framed post cards in the gent's loo.

Went for Sunday meal with family. Service terrible, slow and cutlery for starters just tossed onto the table. Asked for Bacardi and coke and was asked if I wanted a pint of it!

The best service ever Fish course was beautifully cooked, the pavlova desert was sweet with a sour sauce unbelievable. Will definitely be returning soon, menu was a joy to read want to try more.

We booked at the Squire and Horse on a recommendation from friends and left felling disappointed. The food was only average and possibly slightly over priced for what you got. The lamb shank rather tuff, fish all batter not much fish and steak pudding very peppery after taste. Also the waitress was rather clumsy on clearing the table so be careful.

Went for lunch with friends and we all agreed the food and service excellent would definitely give this pub more of a restaurant a try on the main road with parking at the side

Trip out to West Sussex for a change and on the A29 between Petworth and Arundel found this little jewel of a pub, restaurant.

Group of eight of us stopped off here for a drink and bite to eat for lunch, atmosphere ok but nothing special, service ok. We thought the lunch menu was limited but fair pricing, ribs with chips and Nachos ordered all very good, drinks seemed a bit expensive £4.30 a pint for Sussex Gold?

After a wet and windy day at the races . We stopped stopped off for an early supper on our way back home.

This is a nice pub, serving quite expensive food.We took 2 leak and potato soups and a chicken salad baguette. The soup was not seasoned. A shame as the basic soup was quite pleasant, as was the bread. The baguette was fine, but at £8.95 (no additional fries, just a bit of salad), on the expensive side.

We stopped for a quick drink but ended up eating the most delicious meal!!!i had whitebait which was very good and my son had a burger!! It looked gorgeous so managed to talk my son into letting me taste a bit it was yummy!!!!! The lovely charcoal flavour was something else!!!!

I have just eaten the most wonderful meal of my life. If I was a dog I would still be licking my whiskers and reflecting on how tasty it was. Fillet steak you could have eaten with a spoon. Cooked to perfection in a red wine sauce with spiced mushrooms. Mmmmmm. And then because I just had to know if the desserts were as good - day and night chocolate torte with homemade salted caramel ice cream and caramel. And so nicely served. Mega praise.

We come here every few months, and without fail the lunches are delicious, good value for money and the desserts are just out of this world. My favourite is Eton mess, which is a fairy castle of whipped cream, meringue, fresh fruits, mango coulis and probably other scrummy things that I don't notice in my haste to get stuck in! Staff are unfailingly efficient, polite and friendly. We love it, top marks from us.

Stopped off for drink and decided to take a sandwich with me as working and only quick break. Pub is lovely, bar staff helpful, but oh my goodness £9.50 for a prawn roll! Ok it was in a take out box with some lettuce leaves and roll nice but very few prawns, hardly any sauce and no taste. Very disappointed. If I'd of known it was going to be so expensive/poor I'd of bought a prawn sandwich from m and s which are very good.

I have used the Squire & Horse for a number of years, usually with a group and for the last three years after a day at Goodwood Races. I must say the food has always been very good and the service excellent, so have no complaints wth that regard. What I did think was very strange and that I have never heard of it before, we were in the pub on Wednesday 2nd August after a day at the races of which the weather was terrible. There was 11 of us and one of our number had a special birthday (60 years), we all had starters and main course with three bottles of wind and other drinks beforehand, We asked if we could give our friend a birthday cake and each of us have a piece, we had the cake with us. The waitress replied I'm afraid I will have to charge you "CAKEAGE' unless some of you have deserts. Well you can imagine our shock or be it I understand the sentiment that somebody would have to wash up the plates etc. However, I have never heard the like before bearing in mind we had spent over £400, I could understand if we had gone in there had a drink and then asked to consume our own cake. I wonder if this has happened to anybody else? I have been in many hundreds of restaurants and have celebrated peoples birthday and have seen other birthdays being celebrated but have never heard the word "Cakeage". In fact some restaurants I have been into not only supply plates they have in fact put candles on the cake for us. Please don't think I am complaining about the food or service because I cannot fault that, but I do think this was a little petty, so much so that we didn't actually have the cake after all.

Estaba lloviendo gatos y perros en un inglés Agosto de manera. Estábamos atrasados para el almuerzo en Chichester cuando por spray vimos el pub y swerved hacia el aparcamiento. Que comer regularmente en pubs al otro lado de Sussex y este fue un hallazgo. Realmente mano especial comida que hablando por un tiempo.

Llamé el viernes por la noche de camino a casa a las 6 de la tarde. La comida se sirve a partir de las 6 pm. Tenía una pinta y pedimos solomillo de la pizarra ofertas especiales. Pedí que me lo bien hecho y que salió a la perfección. Me hubiera gustado una seta y un tomate para acompañar la comida pero no honraron tienen pero la comida era de muy buena calidad y sin duda volver

Mi pareja y yo me encontré con esta pequeña joya en la noche del miércoles, tuvimos el alforfón y salmón Bellini para empezar que tenía el huevo más adorable codornices encima, era absolutamente delicioso! Mi compañero tenía el pollo que dijo era increíble y tenía el pea y halloumi buñuelos de y fue como un vegetal (sinceramente) lo mejor que he comido en mucho tiempo! ! ! ! La camarera era fabuloso muy cortés y eficiente y me compré varios vasos de sus Malbec, que era delicioso, un lugar increíble comida fabulosa y un personal encantador. No puedo esperar a volver aquí. Gracias chicos! ! ! ! !

Monday lunch to celebrate with family. Wonderful food as pictured the chef is an artist in my opinion and I have never had a less than fabulous meal at the squire & horse.

Cenamos aquí mientras el domingo el Camino South Downs con amigos. No nos decepcionó. Todos tuvimos una cena con asado que fue preparado y muy bien presentada. Cuando llegó la hora de los postres nos quedamos muy impresionados con la australiana Pavlova. No sólo no lo fantástico también estaba buenísimo

Salir de noche y acabamos en el Squire y caballos. Muy buen servicio, teniendo en cuenta que aparezca justo antes de que dejaron de servir comida. Mi hamburguesa y patatas fritas era excelente - gran patatas fritas y carne muy agradable. Mi amiga tenía pescado y patatas fritas, que tenía buena pinta.

Viajamos a enterrar la colina donde alojarse para una corta escapada. "Encontramos este pedacito de cielo" Mi marido es muy exigente con la comida, él pidió la pierna de cordero. Estaba delicioso! Tuve peces "n" chips - ¡fantástico! Ambos tenían helado casero que también eran muy buenos.

Gran personal, atento y con una sonrisa. La comida es simplemente increíble para un ambiente pub restaurante. Harvey's cervezas y agua hildon son muy buenos y luego el magnífico désuet pudines. Recomiendo encarecidamente este consistentemente bueno comer en el establecimiento. Luego de los postres, tienes que ir aquí para experimentar una delicia deliciosos.

Cinco de nosotros fuimos allí para mi cumpleaños hijos. Todos tuvimos comidas diferentes y todos ellos eran muy buenos, especialmente el bistec y budín de hígado.

Estado en este pub/restaurante comer varias veces este año y todos estábamos un poco no me decepcionó con su habitual categoría quizás porque estaba muy caliente, el servicio era bueno y el personal amable, pero la carne estaba dura y patatas asadas había estado en la frier

Descubrimos este pequeño tesoro el lunes y después del risotto más fantástico para mí y pud désuet steak & riñón para mi marido que no podíamos esperar a volver. Ahora 6 días después volvimos con la familia. El restaurante estaba muy lleno, ya que es día de padres y teníamos 2 pm reserva, pero todo era perfecto todos tuvimos una comida deliciosa. El personal es fantástico y nada es demasiado problema. Volveremos.

Menú increíble con selección fabulosa de pescado, carne y platos vegetarianos. Ambiente encantador pub como estuvimos allí con los perros en el bar principal. Cada plato era sublime - bonita presentación y calidad de los ingredientes. Calamares de arranque estaba muy bien sazonada, aunque no me hacía falta la salsa sweet chili que venía con él en el costado. El hígado y el paté de pollo puerto había sido recomendado y absolutamente no me decepcionó. Budín de carne fue tan désuet bueno - me terminó saliendo de maridos, junto con la mayoría de las patatas asadas, a pesar de que no es realmente a comer carne. ¡Guau! Tuve escalope con chorizo starter como principal. Deliciosos! Deliciosa ensalada con aderezo y no ahogando. No podría resistir un pico en el menú budín y tuvimos que hacer una prueba para la pannacotta - 2 cucharas de nuevo, bien presentada, no me decepcionó. Tan buenos que hicimos noche mañana y al menos dar un vistazo a las ofertas especiales de este tiempo. Chef australiano sabe lo suyo. Personal encantador, amable, demasiado poco atento no agobiar. Noche perfecta!

A gem in the countryside. The pub is cozy, the welcome warm and friendly, the range of drinks excellent, and the food, fantastic. Top restaurant quality food at pub prices. Can't beat it. Not my first visit and certainly not my last.

Nuestra primera visita fue en el Día del Boxeo cuando no habíamos reservado y amablemente nos instalado en al concurrido comedor. Nos hemos vuelto un par de veces desde entonces y disfrutamos del ambiente agradable, buena comida y bebida. Mención especial de los asados con Yorkshire pudding y "histórico" patatas asadas!

Encantador pub y comida encantadora. Personal amable y buen servicio. Menús variados y también muy difícil elegir un desierto como eran todos deliciosos! Visitamos como una familia y no una pega. Un chef en la cocina que es claramente apasionado de su sabores y presentación. Servicio de sábado muy concurrido, pero no tienen que esperar demasiado tiempo para nuestra comida o bebidas. Es estupendo ver un pub restaurante de calidad haciendo tan bien.

Llegamos a tener una noche con una comida con amigos. Dieron los menús y un poco de agua y de pedir comida y pedimos ver la carta de vinos. Nada llegó. Tuve que pedir de nuevo como el entradas llegaron. La comida era excelente calidad pero parecía escaso en el hecho de que no verduras. Tuve que acabo con venado patatas. También sólo dos cuencos de patatas entre los otros tres. Sin embargo, la calidad de la comida era muy buena. Después pedimos la factura y nada. Mismo camarero joven hombre! Tuve que recordarle la solicitud y la carta de vinos, fracasaron. Volveremos por la comida.

Nos llevaron por nuestros dos hijos y nieto (edad 5) George por el Día de la madre, en marzo de 2017 26. Buena comida, excelente comida, buen ambiente y super servicio. Varios entrantes (melón, picante de cerdo, whitebait) de primera clase, cenas asado (cordero, ternera, pavo y menú infantil) a todos de gran nivel. Gran ambiente y muy concurrido, con gran variedad de comida y personal atento y amable.

Primera vez que visito este pub y nos encantó. La comida era deliciosa y muy bien presentada. Una verdadera joya de un pub para comida casera sabrosa. Fuimos por comida para el día de la madre, y el servicio era excelente. Una amplia selección de menú y postres eran simplemente divino! Qué gran hallazgo.

Venga a este pub bastante frecuentes. Siempre la bienvenida con una sonrisa y nos dieron toda la información necesaria para saber sobre comidas y bebidas. La comida siempre se sirve caliente y siempre al mejor de los gustos.

Paramos aquí para asadas y tomamos un almuerzo muy agradable.
