Nice beer and friendly owner/staff. Dog friendly. Stopped doing food earlier this year due to the drop in business over covid. A shame. May start again but unsure.

We’ve been looking forward to eating here - and we weren’t disappointed. We brought along our son and daughter in law and were offered a cosy table in a corner where we could people watch whilst eating! Great service, helpful new staff in training, who were so polite and smiley and lovely food. This wonderful establishment is now our “local” and can’t wait to return very soon!

We called in for something to eat on Wednesday 4th September but found a notice saying the Kitchen was closed so had to go elsewhere. We called in again on Saturday afternoon just before 5pm and after the barman had served everyone I asked if we could book for later that evening. The barman said he wasn't sure if " she was cooking tonight " so we should ring later. I found this all rather unwelcoming so didn't bother ringing. Disappointed 😕😕

Visited whilst camping nearby after torrential rain and not fancying attempting to cook whilst soaking wet. Outside did not look impressive but other reviews good so we thought we’d try it. Bit worried as most of reviews were for Sunday lunch. So we were there minutes after it opened, a warm greeting. We ordered beef curry and chilli with a side of chips. Impressed by the choice of vegetarian food as well, not the standard and a good few options. Meals were not expensive, especially compared with other local places, so didn’t expect that much. When food came it was plentiful, really tasty and obviously home made. Service was friendly and we were surprised how many people came in to eat and drink considering it was early and mid week. Would definitely recommend and next time we are camping in the area we will definitely plan to eat there more often. Just wish it was our local!

The pub is clean friendly and comfortable. We visited on a very busy Sunday lunch time however little waiting time and we were seated and getting our food from the carvery in short order. There was an excellent choice of roast meats vegetables and all of the accomniments such as Yorkshire puddings cauliflower and broccoli in cheese sauce etc etc. My wife had beef and noticed there was no horse radish left. She asked one of the staff and by the time I sat down it was on our table. The choice of beers and lager was good I can't comment on the wine choices as we just had beer and soft drinks. The pudding was also very good and again a good choice.even though the place was packed it didn't feel to crowded and there was no rush to get us moving once we had eaten. All in all a very good pub great service very friendly staff. With ample parking. We were told that they have a steak night in the week but you would have to book as it gets booked up quickly. If its of the same quality and sensible pricing as the Sunday lunch it's not something to miss. Unfortunatly we had to leave this beutifull part of Wales before steak night. One thing to be aware of both pub and location have the same name. So if you shop at the spa or the garage even the shop cash ☠ nt it comes up as the square and compass on your statement. The pub staff warned us as they regularly get calls from people thinking the pub has charged them when it's the shop. Personally I can't see a problem but the pub staff did tell us they are always getting called about this. I would highly recommend taking the few minutes drive if staying in trefin as its well worth a visit.

A local group we belong to had booked an evening meal for about thirty people at the Square and Compass. It was very good in every way. A pub with a good atmosphere. Plenty of room. A splendid carvery meal, with generous portions of everything, and seconds of everything freely available. The pub essentially offers standard pub grub, but pub grub of a very high standard. But there is also something extra of offer: we know from previous visits that the cook, a vegetarian, includes some brilliant vegan and vegetarian options on the full menu. Highly recommended.

Mmmm. Going by the reviews on here and elsewhere we decided to book a table for 4 for the Sunday Carvery. At 10 quid per head it seemed reasonable only if we got enough, problem was we all got one slice of meat whereas the regulars got 2 or 3. Now I'm not saying we got served less because of our English accents but we were given short shrift when booking and a rather insulting attitude from the chef when served our food.

After seeing some of the reviews, was a bit hesitant coming here but as it was only a short walking distance from where me and my husband were staying we decided to go there for our evening meal. Was so glad we did, prices were very reasonable for the area and the food was delicious. I had the lasagne and my husband had the beef curry, both meals were very tasty and was a good portion size too. Place was a little cramped so if you are a large party I would pre book, as it was only me and my husband we had no problem but I can imagine a large party would. Don't listen to the negative reviews, I would recommend a visit.

Called at this pub hoping to have a evening meal. The atmosphere was non existent two men drinking at the bar and a couple of young men playing pool. The man behind the bar (presumably the landlord) in our opinion was quite rude. We asked if they were serving food and a lady sat near the bar said yes they were. We asked for a menu and she also said the special that night was a crab salad with new potatoes I ordered the crab salad and the guy said "you can't have that the potatoes aren't ready" I said I would wait but he insisted they weren't even boiling. My husband and I ordered a pasta dish, which came eventually. Unfortunately they both looked like ready meals cooked in the microwave. One of the men at the bar never stopped swearing and as there were only a few people in the place everybody could hear. Altogether a complete no no for this Inn.

. . La comida era increíble! !

Went there for sunday lunch back in April and if you like stewed vegetables it's fine. I had to spoon the veg up on account of the fact they disintegrated when I tried to use my fork. A very forgettable experience and even the service was very poor. It was a rainy Sunday in Pembrokeshire. We were hungry, and a Google search pointed this place out. We almost knew what to expect and fancied a chinnese. Anyone with physical limitations do not try to access. No lights to the path and pitch dark. Once you're in it's cold and sparse. A few tables to accommodate sit downs but this place runs mostly on take aways. The cook was very busy. A young man taking orders, serving and dealing with customers coming in and out. Bit chaotic. We kept our coats on ate our dishes, which were nicer than expected. Worth a venture ... some fun a bit like faulty towers. We would go back.
