Very disappointing service. Been to Spring a fair few times. Food was lovely as always, but service was terrible. Gave up and skipped pudding as we waited 20 mins to ask for more wine. Front of house wasnt much use either. Hope they get back on track.

Lovely building, nice service atmosphere a little missing but that I'm sure is because we were finning very early 6pm . We booked for the scratch menu but unfortunately I had an allergy to their main course ingredient and they weren't able/ willing to allow me to swap out that course for something off the a la carte. So I had to go a la carte for my whole dinner, which was cooked very well and tasty but expensive. I suggest if you're going for the scratch menu you tell them in advance if you have an allergy, then they at least know. I do recommend you give it a try.

We tried the scratch menu at Spring. It's a daily changing three course menu to minimize food wastage. We loved this ethos and it was amazing value for an upmarket restaurant. If you don't have any food restrictions or allergies it's a great choice

I have now been twice, once for dinner, once for lunch. The food, as others have noted, is superb and the philosophy behind the place seems to work. Relaxed, cultured but unstuffy, friendly, modern. The venue helps. The staff seemed unstressed. I like their approach to ingredients and reducing wastefulness, it seems to work for everyone and isn't just some gimmick they pay lip service to. Not a pricey as it could have been, I think their fixed standard menus are great value. Wine list is fair with a good selection and isn't the usual gouge pricing. I think I'll be going again if I can find an excuse to be in the area. That it was pretty full on a Tuesday lunchtime in November tells you something.

Words cannot describe how amazing the food was at Spring! Skye Gyngell’s philosophy of letting the produce shine and letting it speak for itself, showed in every dish. Yeah, there’s reviews talking about the service charge but that’s London dining for you, and it goes to the staff anyway. Lamb was recommended by my section waiter and it was amazing.. along with the yummy scallops! Will be back, thanks Spring team!

*Creeping service charges a stain on an otherwise great meal* Had a lovely pre-theatre meal in the beautiful setting here. The 3 courses were tasty, especially considering the price at £30/head. We were happy to bump up the bill with some good wine. What leaves a bad taste however, is the creeping service charge increase. Whilst it's written at the bottom of the menu, the rate of 13.5% is conveniently left off the bill, merely described as 'Discretionary service charge', with no mention it's 13.5% as opposed to London norm at 10 or 12.5%. Really? Please, just pay your staff a decent wage and increase the meal price if necessary. Luckily the service was delightful (especially our Spanish waiter), so I didn't want to ruin an otherwise lovely evening. But I am left conflicted as to whether I would return. It's not about the 1%, it's about the way places are trying to push up the 'discretionary service'.

The Scratch Menu takes unused fresh ingredients from the previous day that would otherwise be tossed out, and concocts delicious impromptu dishes from them. It is good to be reminded of the huge problem of food waste in such a tasty way. This menu is available briefly when the restaurant opens at 5.30 p.m., and takes about one hour to serve, which makes it ideal as a pre-theatre venue. The 3-course menu offers no choice, but I had no complaints about any part of it. These were not just hastily whipped-up oddities. My first course was a kind of Spanakopita, and that was followed by quail. The doors were locked when I arrived just before 5.30. But seeing my walking stick, the staff kindly let me in to sit down until they were ready to take me to my table.

Spring is one of my new favourite restaurants of all time. My husband and I visited for a finer dining date night and the ambience was like nothing I’ve experienced in another restaurant. The dining space is so beautiful & elegant, while the food is such high quality with surprising flavours that you’ll want to forever savour. If you’re in London & looking for a more high end dinner or lunch spot, you must book at Spring.

Great venue and we were excited to try. However, it was overshadowed by a ‘lack of joy and pleasure’. The staff although ample seemed scared to put a foot wrong or to smile, I guess the managers were going for the ‘over discreet service’, not staff’s fault but the direction they were told to follow. It made the culinary experience gloomy and although the food was good the bleak atmosphere prevailing from the staff tainted the whole experience. It would be a great restaurant to ‘break bad news’.

hosted our wedding celebration dinner at Spring Restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience. The service was impeccable, with staff attending to every detail, making the evening feel truly special. The setting was stunning, providing a beautiful backdrop that added to the overall ambiance of the night. The food was generally excellent, with a wide array of flavors that pleased everyone. The only minor drawback was the pea soup starter, which had a portion that was a bit too generous and didn’t quite hit the mark for us. However, everything else more than made up for it, and our guests were full of compliments. Overall, Spring Restaurant played a big part in making our night magical, and we would highly recommend it for any special occasion.

What an incredible dining experience! Everything from the beautiful space, to the incredible service from kind and knowledgeable staff, to the insanely good food... Everything was a 10/10. We had all the pre-starters and loved the freshness of the heirloom cucumbers, and the butter for the bread was perfect consistency. We tried the Prawn Aguachile and the Crab Nduja with polenta, the crab in particular was so flavoursome and the texture was sublime, it was the best thing I've tasted in ages. We had the pork belly and lamb as mains. The bed of vegetables under the lamb was just as delicious as the meat itself. We tried the custard tart with peaches and bitter chocolate cake. The peach tarte is really something special and not too heavy or sweet. If you love excellent quality wines, their sommelier introduced us to some incredible orange wines and a beautiful burgundy. We even got a cute little boule of sorbet with a candle for our anniversary. This is such a good choice for a special occasion dinner, and we will definitely be back to try their scratch menu soon (uses ingredients to avoid food waste).

One of my favourite restaurants in London. Though the furniture is a bit dated (my chair could have done with a little spruce) it did not deter from the extraordinary food and wonderful service. The bonus is being located in one of the most beautiful buildings in London, Somerset House. The focus on vegetables being as important as the meat makes Spring extra special. Make sure you leave space for dessert! May it forever be on my London recommendation list.

Skye Gyngell may have achieved amazing culinary feats at Petersham Nurseries…but she is not doing so at Spring. Many reviews comment on the ‘ beautiful, elegant, textural restaurant’. It is a beautiful room but there are many beautiful rooms in London and one dines out for the excellence of the cuisine, not the beauty of the restaurant. You cannot eat the decor, We had the set menu. Thr curd cheese and new season’s garlic on toast looked like a Sunday night scrap supper. Wild garlic grows in my garden; I do not need to go out to eat it so why, I ask, is it ubiquitous in restaurants in late spring? After the starter was served, we waited almost an hour for our main course. Mackerel is an inexpensive fish, why feature it as the main course in a so-called top restaurant? It did not look delicate on the plate, not did it taste delicate. The meal was (only just) saved by the very good meringue and lemon ice cream. Service throughout was charming but at a glacial speed. We shall not return.

The food was amazing, the interiors were amazing but the service was not. We booked for the scratch menu however we were seated with no explanation with a la carte menus. When I made sure with the waiter that we had specially booked for scratch she said the menus were given in case we wanted to order a la carte. But at no time was the scratch menu explained to us. Our meals were placed in front of us with no explanation and the main meal before our first drinks were served and whilst I was in the lavatory. When I queried what the meal was, the waiter went to take them off the table and said “if you don’t like you order off menu”. It was almost as if we offended the waiter for wanting to know what we were eating. We were then served a different meal for the main to what the “offended waiter” explained would be served. Overall the service ruined the evening.

Would avoid for a la carte. The food was very tasty. We had the scratch menu which was a fixed, random 3 courses. We enjoyed each one and for £35 for 3 courses it was quite pricey but good. The main thing is the atmosphere however. Very echoey and quite stark environment with little character. A warning however - the a la carte prices are 35-40 for a main. See menu in photos. And make sure to sit on the outside or a booth. The middle is very loud even when empty and no music.

I recently had dinner at Spring with my wife and 7 and 10 year old daughters. We had the scratch menu. I was slightly nervous going in that my daughters wouldn’t be in an adventurous mood but I can say that the restaurant far exceeded my expectations. The food, staff, and atmosphere were perfect. Very good food, although fully priced and with a couple of misfiring elements on the dishes. My major gripe was with the service which was aloof and unfriendly. Why oh why do these ‘fine dining’ restaurants constantly misjudge the service!? Most diners want warm, friendly staff who speak to us like human beings, not terrified and undertrained automatons who can’t relax and enjoy serving food to diners. We had the ‘scratch’ menu (we had to ask for it, it wasn’t offered) and whilst it was good, the strained ambience in the dining room and the lack of warmth from the staff meant the meal was less enjoyable than it should have been. The wine list was also underwhelming - I always think you can tell a good sommelier by the house wine they choose. Using that yardstick, the sommelier at Spring needs to have a word with themselves.

The restaurant is tastefully decorated and in a beautiful building. However, Service not up to par. Specifically mentioned we had lactose intolerance and almost every plate that was brought had dairy, in spite of waiter assuring us they would prepare it without. Waiter seemed, overwhelmed, rushing from one table to another, and never offered to take back the dishes, and bring them with no cream or cheese. We had to eat around it. Also had to order a glass of wine three times because he kept forgetting." So in conclusion , a mediocre experience. For that price point, much better places in London .

Based in one of the wings of Sommmerset house, Spring could so easily have been a run of the mill F&B outlet catering to the West End crowd. Instead, it the restored 19th century Drawing Room, Skye Gynell (formally of Petersham Nurseries fame) and her team have created something really special. Working closely with biodynamic farm Fern Verrow to bring the UK's best produce to London, this is expensive, elegant and dripping with a style. We had the 'Scratch Menu', a zero waste menu, changing daily and with limited available - Tuesday to Saturday between 5.30pm and 6.30pm and is limited to 30 guests per evening. At £30 per head, this is an excellent value for the space, and their ongoing work with Food Waste charity Felix Project shows their commitment to this area.

Having been before and enjoyed it, I took an important guest for what I hoped would have been a pleasurable experience. Staff in reception and on the restaurant floor weer delightful. However, we were confronted with a smug and rude sommelier who, when I very courteously suggested that she might apologise for her rudeness to my guest simply dug herself into a hole claiming she was "just being funny" - which would not have been appropriate even if she were - but she then left the restaurant floor. I returned to the restaurant later that day and asked to speak to the General Manager who said "I'll look into it but how do you think it made her feel (being asked to apologise)?" A few days later I received an e-mail saying that they had viewed the matter on the CCTV (who knew they had it and shouldn't they tell you that you are being watched?) and whilst it looked like she had been "conciliatory sin tone" they could not check as there was no sound and, as the person was a long standing member of staff who had only ever received compliments, they were therefore drawing a line under the incident but realised I therefore might not want to return. So, the management consider themselves so superior that not only can they not bring themselves to write a proper letter of apology, they can also lace it with a final insult (which is clearly the modus operandi of the restaurant. I'm sure Skye Gyngell would be appalled.

A tad expensive for a lunch. However, I became ill that evening (ate nothing else that day) and politely advised the restaurant the following day. No acknowledgment! Then after sending a reminder 4 days later, I received a somewhat unprofessional email the following day. No sense of urgency. I assume the email was from some manager. No title was given. The response was somewhat dismissive (no one else complained) and patronising (customers take ownership of their allergies). I told them I wasn’t looking for a refund! A disappointing end to what was otherwise nice afternoon.

Had a la carte lunch, but their set lunch during weekdays are of very good value. Food, services and the vibe there are all great. Kept coming back and always enjoyed. Date of visit : 19 May 2023

Very disappointed. The bread was fantastic. The wine list was good, and expectedly expensive. As a lifelong vegetarian, however, it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had in a restaurant. A plate of roasted veg (majority potatoes) with a dollop of yogurt with tasteless chilli. Even 20 years ago, when chefs hated vegetarians, I had a stunning main course in Gordon Ramsay at Claridges (and he in particular hates vegetarians). And this dish was the only veggie option. Quite flabbergasted to be honest.

Charged my 72 year old dad £100 for not managing to cancel the booking correctly. Not cool.

Beautiful venue with good food. Shame the hostess is rather unpleasant when I told her I had a black laptop bag left in the cloakroom and she replied “well you’ve got to be more specific than that or look for it yourself!”. I won’t let it ruin a good night with friends but gosh, why the attitude with your guests???

At Somerset House, in a discreet luxury ambience, we've enjoyed a subtle and tastefully meal à la carte. As starters we've especially appreciated the «mussels with asparagus» but also the delicately perfumed sauce of the «taglioni» and the fresh and classic crab salad. The main courses, extraordinary Cornish red chicken and fillet of beef, were perfect both for the accuracy of the cooking of the meat and for the balance of the flavors of accompaniments. Nice selection of wine glasses, good fairly simple desserts and kindly professional service complete a delicious impression of total success for this dinner (and for its reasonable cost of 107£/person) .

The restaurant is beautifully and effortlessly elegant, nestled in a wonderfully historic building that offers other options if you want to make more of your day out. The wait staff were attentive, respectful and polite which is a 10/10 for me. As for the food, whatever your choice I’m sure your tastebuds will thank you for it, although I’d certainly recommend the roast potatoes for sides selection. They are unlike anything I’ve ever had before and they’re quite exceptional, and I’m very funny about roast potatoes! For drinks … do try the Rhubarb Sour. Enjoy.

The dinner was okay, nothing special - definitely overpriced because of the location and the “high ceilings”. Interior is pleasant however somehow the entire atmosphere seems very pretentious: think “successful parents bringing their troubled teen for a conversation dinner” type of place. The food was acceptable but again, nothing out of the ordinary. The crispy potatoes side was actually too “crispy”, had to struggle to cut into each piece. The service was good, but I definitely won’t be coming back.

With the passing of the equinox a new season is in early bloom. The soothing, calm decor of the dining room is impeccable, and only surpassed by the explosion of flavors that made for one of my most memorable meals in a long time. Highly recommend it!

Beautiful restaurant. Great service and dog friendly. 👍 Great menu and good value with the Prix Fixe and added a dozen of escargot 🐌. And a great bottle of red wine. We loved it. We had all the classics. French onion soup, confit duck and Scottish salmon. We can’t wait to come back. Placer out afternoon tea.

Great location and decent selection of beers. Ordered the Duke Platter and not really impressed by the selection's quality. Dry wings and chicken stripes. Thumbs up for the cauliflower, but not worth the £20

1st time to Corrigans for all 4 of us and it certainly wont be the last. We had an excellent set lunch menu and also used the BYO offer which made it great value. Dickies bar for a pre drink before sitting down to lunch is lovely and all the staff were excellent. Every time the four of us meet I choose a different restaurant in London, but I wont need to do that anymore. We all loved it there.

Impressed with the customer service, all friendly and caring staff. The food was amazing and even though the restaurant was quite busy, the waiting time wasn’t long at all! Definitely coming back 🤤

We visited the Golden Fleece for a Friday afternoon Christmas lunch for 19 of us and it was great. The downstairs area with its own bar was just right for us. Emma's service was excellent and we all enjoyed the 3 course Christmas menu. It's a great pub for just a drink too, right in the heart of the City with a relatively fair bit of space out the front to drink outside.
