Came to visit daughter on placement from uni. Wasn’t busy but was told food be about 30 mins was over a hour till we got it. Husband had a lasagne and daughter and I had ultimate sharer, which was only 2 of each different selection?? Wouldn’t class as ultimate as needed at least 4 of each thing to feed 2 people. Husband said lasagne could had been bigger portion as well. Food was nice though but bigger portions would be great. Staff were all friendly can’t fault them. Would visit again if bigger portions.

With a new landlord, a new food menu, cocktails and more events. My friend and I decided to go along to one of the Tuesday evening quiz evenings and we were so glad we did, we went back the week after. First week we tried something from the new menu, just a few nibbles. We chose from the 3 for £12 menu, just something to keep us going with our bottle of Shiraz. Great night. Friendly staff, great atmosphere.

Had the most delicious roast today from the Spread Eagle. Being Valentine’s Day we decided to order our Sunday roast especially with lockdown on and not able to go anywhere. The pork chop was amazing and so tender and tasty and the chicken was corn fed. Never had corn fed chicken before but certainly will again. All the veg was fresh and cooked to perfection. So much dinner enough for tomorrow too.

I visited for the first time yesterday. I had tried to reserve a table in the beer garden through their website a few days before hand but I had no response. We got to the pub to find it closed. The lady inside opened the door and said they had problems and won’t be opening until 2pm. This is fair enough many businesses get issues that delay opening from time to time. I asked about the table I had tried to reserve and was told that they do not reserve tables in the beer garden. This is something they could state on their website and they could have responded to my email to let me know that and the lady we spoke to could use a few lessons in customer service. She was indifferent leaning towards abrupt. We returned at 2:30 and was seated in the beer garden. We ordered drinks and asked if there was a food menu but was told that their chef had walked out so there was no food. It was a very nice looking pub but the service leaves a lot to be desired. It’s not terrible but they could do better. A smile wouldn’t hurt and the staff could be a bit more pleasant and interact with customers a little more rather than banging the drinks down on the table while they go and get the PDQ machine so we could pay for the drinks.

called here today for a drink and lunch time snack or whatever - no food on offer - after 3 months i would have thought they would have tried to get back to 'normal'.sat outside in the garden - ashtray full of cigarette butts and one on the wall nearby - ordered a coffee and pint of london pride - had to put a new barrel on - surely this should have been done when opening - all in all a dismal experience. even when the staff came with the drinks ashtrays full and not emptied.

This is probably one of the worse pubs for service I've had the misfortune to visit. I wouldn't have even given it 1 star but that wasn't possible. 5 people order food 20 minutes later 2 meals turn up. 40 minutes after the order another meal turns up. 60 minutes after ordering the last two meals turn up. Their excuse only one chef. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone, certainly one to swerve.

Nice pub. Don't bother with the food.My friends and I had burgers here. For £12 I expected something pretty good but I was disappointed. They're supposed to come with 'slaw and all i got was a measly teaspoon of raw cabbage without any dressing at all! My friends burger was supposed to have caramelised onion in it, and this was replaced with harissa! Not sure what they think they're doing but I won't be eating there again! Poor effort.

Visited Spread Eagle for one round during a crowded evening recently whilst live music was playing. It’s clearly a busy place but there’s limited seating and the standing space is sparse, especially when it’s as packed as this occasion. Three single shot gin and tonics cost around 11 GBP which is really quite good.

My daughter attends a nearby school and has been for the last year, yet this week is the first time I've had the opportunity to visit the Spread Eagle in Brentwood. The first night was just a quick drink with family. It was early on a Monday evening, so the place wasn't busy, yet it still had enough of a buzz and atmosphere about it. I was impressed by the layout, decor, cleanliness and all the staff we interacted with were super friendly, efficient and helpful. Well prepared drinks, fair prices, absolutely no complaints at all.

This is a much improved pub; fashionably redecorated, with great food and regular DJ's or bands. The only downer is getting served; there simply aren't enough staff and given many are making cocktails and regulars take up space sitting at the bar, this means you can wait 15+mins to get served when it is busy. We've given up on numerous occassions and gone to other pubs. The young staff are verging on rude and moody and the owners ought to mystery-shop them just to see how bad they can be towards the people who pay their wages. Put more staff ie some experienced adults behind the bar with a bit of customer rapport and this place would be worthy of 5 stars and customers wouldn't walk out all the time.

For Saturday night we visited The Spread Eagle and were fairly unimpressed with the pub generally. Two beers and two got chocolates were ordered. Hot chocolate, at £2.00 a pop, was from a Cadbury’s cocoa powder tub and really wasn’t that nice at all. The atmosphere was really hampered by the terribly loud music. It seemed to be a funk and soul night, which isn’t a bad genre, but the volume was just way too loud for a small pub like The Spread Eagle. It was impossible to hear anything else and ruined the experience. Fairly limited seating and worn out bar stools with ripped upholstery. Not the best.

Well, we planned on popping in here for one, maybe two drinks, so, we then decided to sit in the beautiful courtyard out the back as it was such a warm night, the smells of the food wafting from the kitchen made us think, actually we won't go anywhere else to eat, we'd be quite happy sitting here, food arrived quick and was presented and tasted beautifully. Gradually the bar started to fill up, from 18 - 60 yrs olds, but you know what, every one was equal, no one felt too old or out of place. Well, then the music started, it took me back years when everyone used to just get up and dance, the place was alive, so many happy smiling faces, so, for us, two drinks turned into us leaving at closing! for me, best pub in Brentwood, get yourselves down there. Really great bar staff too....

A couple of friends and I visited the Spread Eagle tonight, having previously had several enjoyable nights there under the previous management... to say it had gone downhill would be understating it’s demise to an unrealistic degree. Whereas there used to be quality live music, we had a fat Russell Brand wannabe trying to sing behind the bar, the place was devoid of atmosphere, and when we ordered drinks at last orders (1145pm) the Eastern European bouncer tried to take them away at ten to twelve! When we complained, the barmaid got shirty and we were thrown out! By 11:55 all the customers were outside arguing with the staff! I have never seen so many unhappy punters. I would say it was like a cliched version of a North London pub run by unprofessional drop outs, & wouldn’t be surprised if it closed down in the near future, the proprietors couldn’t run a bath. A shame as the previous owners had really turned the place around, but this place is one to avoid

Well. Spread Eagle. You have won me over. We first visited in September whilst viewing our new flat, and we attended on a friday night, it was busy, but food was about a 30min wait which is decent. The food took 50 and the order was wrong, however, as an apology, the bar man refunded me the money for a round so it was free, then also threw in some free side dishes, We then returned in October & November when we moved here and it was so so soooo much better. We had attended a local Cavery but this was a 2hr wait, so we came to the Spread Eagle again. Food was only 15/20mins and was amazing, I ended up having the Juicy Lucy burger and the fact you can choose 4 extras for the burger for free was quality! (I don't like most salad, so ended up with Lettuce and double Bacon for free) and the male barman (I believe his name was James) was funny and very friendly! We now love this pub!

Welcoming atmosphere at fair prices, has been changed over the years but has finally come into its own with current management and innovating style on menu's and drink choices. Always feel welcome and struggle to leave

My eldest daughter took me here the other day with my two grandsons. I decided to have the greek salad at £5.95. When this came it was extremely small and the amount of cheese was disgusting very over priced. On the other hand my eldest grandson who is 10 had a pulled pork sub roll and for £6.00 this was excellent value. My daughter had the flat plate nachos at £4.95 which was not brilliant with too much cheese on. She and my other grandson age 7 shared a full rack of ribs, which came with coleslaw and fries for £15.00 which is excellent value. One sore point is that the youngest boy knocked his drink over and although no fuss was made about clearing it up I would have thought a free replacement would have been given. My partner and I eat out regularly but I will not be bring him here.!!!!!!

Visited a month ago and we were so impressed we have already been back. Food is very tasty, the steaks, burgers and smoked meats are superb. A good selection of beers but slightly disappointed that on the second visit they had the same beers, no new guest ales. Service is excellent even on a Saturday night. This place has been totally revamped and well worth a visit.

For what used to be one of the least desirable pubs to visit in Brentwood this has become the place to be if you are not into Towie haunts. Good ales & food with regular events it is always busy.

Jack is doing a great job at the Spread Eagle. The pub was on it's way out but is now the number 1 pub to go for me. Great drink selection and great vibe.

Nice quite pub serving wide selection of beers, ale's and weekly special selection. Some hot food prepared hear and Italian coffee made for those who is not in the mood to drink. If you don't need High Street crowd but want to drink good pint, the place is must to visit, it has a its own character and long time history.

I had the perfect eat out Sunday Roast Lamb dinner, that was as good as any home cooked roast that you could have.. and I wasn't even that hungry! I'm a good cook myself and if like me you love a roast... this roast lamb dinner I had at The Robin was delicious! It was served on a good sized plate (so good value) and my dinner had a lovely selection of fresh/perfectly cooked veg. The lamb was tender and tasty, the roasts pots were fluffy/crunchy, the gravy was tasty (my mouth is watering thinking about it again lol). Even with a busy bar/restaurant on a football afternoon (unfortunately it was Arsenal when we were there! lol).... it was all served nice'n'hot and even the mint sauce was top notch too, along with the staff who were friendly. (especially the female chef who cooked my delicious roast and smiley barmaid who served our drinks and waited our table). I also had a sticky toffee pud with custard and that was yummy too! 100% recommend... thanks again to the chef for my perfect eat out with home cooked vibe, Sunday roast!

Always use this cafe, very tasty food and very quick and friendly staff. The prices are very reasonable. The cafe is always clean and tidy.

I am horrifies to say that following buying an expensive over priced bacon sandwich the bread was green and mouldy when I got back to the office to eat it. I will not be returning and recommend others to steer well clear. The wait time for a simply sandwich is extortionate even when the cafe is quiet you can easily wait at least half an hour if not 40 mins for a sandwich. The mouldy bread was the final straw. How they can increase prices so drastically and provide food that is out of date is beyond me and a heath hazard. Be safe

Very nice restaurant to visit my food and drink was very nice . Only reason I never gave full 5 stars is portion size I believe a bit bigger would be perfect.
