What can I say , came here for our first wedding anniversary. We actually got married at the venue too . The food is incredible. We’ve ate at some loverly restaurants the food here is just brilliant!!! Not only that you’re always welcomed like your part of the family . If you haven’t been I really really suggest you try . We visited on a Sunday, this time but have been before and was really lovely. This time, it just didn’t hit. The presentation this time didn’t have a patch on last time, the service was ok, but much better last time, three of us had the roast beef, I ate mine because I was hungry, the other two left theirs. There was only two really thin roast beef slices, but it was 90% fat, so completely inedible. They left it on the side of the plate but nothing was mentioned when clearing the plates. Even just an apology or at least an acknowledgement may have kept us there for desserts, more drinks, coffees and cheeseboards, however nothing. Based on this visit, compared to our last, this will be our last visit.

Fantastic food, excellent service, lovely staff perfect venue for our friends perfect wedding. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Our favourite local restaurant and their 5 course Easter Tasting Menu £50pp, with optional wine flight £30pp (which we didn't have this time due to driving) was really creative and delicious. The Sunday roast lunches are very good too and big advantage of venue having a quiet buzz with good table spacing so it's always relaxing. Private restaurant, small team who always deliver.

This is our 'go to' restaurant in Warrington. Never had a bad meal here, and last night was no exception. Service is always good. Big range of wines and cocktails. It's not cheap, but the price is reflected in the quality of the food and the way it's prepared. We never leave feeling we have not had enough to eat. Looking forward to our next visit already.

New Years eve dinner. An evening of excellent food, great service and warm atmosphere. One of very few restaurants where you can be assured of first class food and service. We have eaten there for some years now, and whether it is Sunday lunch or a special occasion, Spirit never disappoints.

We opted for Spirit Christmas at Home, and we weren’t disappointed! Fantastic menu, with easy to follow instructions, made our Christmas Day food mouthwatering and very special. This is a stress free way to have Christmas Day, with everyone getting to choose what they prefer. Would definitely recommend. First Class!

Visited here on a staff night out for Christmas meal. Really weird place Let me tell you why on arrival. The place looks very grand and tidy from the outside and arriving inside a waitress. Was about to speak and then interrupted by what we presume to be the main manager that told us please? Would we like to go into the bar for drinks the bar area? Was a mismatch of décor and a funny type. Vibe with a drinks menu being given. And once drinks were given to us. The staff were more bothered about chatting behind the bar than serving customers. We were then told to head in to the restaurant again with the manager interrupting main members of staff. To make sure things where done his way restaurant looked really outdated and food wasn't pleasant. Half of our party left meal as it really wasn't nice. And then restaurant had cheek of adding service charge to bill. Even though hardly any service was given. They seemed to be short-staffed. Running on 3 on a Saturday night restaurant. also a weird choice of Jazz music. Not being Christmasy at all and vibe of the place seemed strange. We had to ask for the bill and card machine and also. With a playing card given to use for coats ??? When asked for drinks, staff seemed like it was Inconvenience for them. With them mainly chatting amongst themselves, leaving the dining room with no staff. Present and also staff going back into backrooms to chat about issues that had happened that day not very professional. Food was also really bland and not very nice. There is better places in Warrington. For a restaurant meal and for price will not be visiting again. On a staff night out really disappointed. I recommend going elsewhere.else in Warrington, as this place really is trying to be something it isn't. Mass catering sytle food had better food and service in a pub Also to note on food they're description of the food items is not correct. See beef Wellington is definitely not made with pulled beef and no butter on table for bread and expecting you to pre order months ago to only then see menus being given to regulars ??? . And the bread in butter. Pudding is not a sticky toffee pudding type copy and also With the stake or so being very chewy and taste like a shop bought item. Honestly for anyone reading this the Real disappointment in this place is real and very mediocre, overated place The place felt like you were in someones front living room. With tables and chairs took from a Chinese restaurant with a Mitch match of different décor took from different restaurants. From 2009 Really weird. Mix of design for a restaurant 'm not sure what they're trying to be. But it definitely aint 5 star. Dineing Management don't seem to care I can now see what other Reviews mean left hungry and also ill

Poor customer service from the get go, no interest in managing drinks at the bar for not only us but most tables needing drinks as staff had a little chit chat most often the night and totally in their own world. Starter was really off smelling and leaked blood or black liquid. This was verbally mentioned to the owner whom seemed smug and ego driven to ignore the facts - ‘goods and services’ wasn’t up to scratch. We paid in full some £150-200. This chap has also carried on via email but not once been polite or kind in any way. I guess the truth hurts. My partner was very sick and unwell after this. Please give these guys a wide berth.

Went on Sunday 10th September for a family celebration, the roast beef was like leather, the pate was of very poor quality and food was cold,the Lady serving in the bar was not friendly I was getting drinks when my Grandson asked me for an orange juice and all of a sudden she said to him do me a favour don’t sit on the arm of the coach, it made a not welcoming atmosphere he is only 12 but I never complained I didn’t want to add to the unfriendly atmosphere and after some thought I needed to give this review, needless to say we will not be going back again they have lost are custom,if this is how they treat people they don’t deserve people to dine in their establishment.

First time I have been here and would definitely go back. Fish was beautiful - nicest I have had in years and sticky toffee pudding to die for!

We were celebrating Mum's birthday with dinner at Spirit. The food was superb and we had lovely friendly service from greeting us at the door and wishing Mum a Happy Birthday to service at the bar and table. My nephew and I had the home made black pudding starter which was so moorish. The steak and triple cooked chips went down well with my brother and nephew. The haddock and vegetables were enjoyed by my sister and niece. Mum and I had the Beef Wellington which melted in the mouth. The Apple Tartin, Chocolate Fondant and Sticky Toffee Pudding were so delicious if you had room for more! The red and white wine choices were great so too the non alcoholic gin and beer for the drivers. We weren't rushed and had a relaxing meal with lots of chat and catching up. Mum said she is so lucky and would love to go back every day! My sister and I also got to sign the register as we were born here when it was Victoria Park Maternity Home. The setting is gorgeous especially in the evening sunshine. We will definitely be back soon.

My wife and I were looking forward to having dinner at the Spirit Restaurant, as we had been unable to go out for awhile. We had an aperitif in the lounge/bar area first, I chose the wine (Victoria Park Shiraz -recommended) and then through for dinner. Before the meal we were treated to an amuse bouche: a good start. My wife had chicken liver parfait, which she enjoyed; I had the homemade black pudding with fried egg etc which was excellent. Onto the mains and my wife had lamb wellington and I had the rib-eye. Both were first class and I complimented the owner on his steak. One of the best, if not the best steak this year! We passed on the pudding course as the first two courses were enough for the night but there were good choices available. Excellent service throughout and we have since booked-in for a taster menu/wine flight evening in June. A great evening was had at one of our favourite restaurants, a five star event.

I'd just like to say thank you for making our mothering Sunday celebrations extra special, the food and service was 1st class, we've enjoyed eating at this restaurant a number of times and the service and food has always been impeccable. The passion, commitment and hard work of all staff is credit to the business We'll be back again.

My aim was to treat my son and his wife on New Years Eve and I had no intention of checking the bill in front of them and an expectation that it would of course be accurate. We ended up having the experience ruined when we realised (once home) that we had been overcharged on many areas of the bill. 3 desserts were added and 3 hot drinks plus a soft drink. In addition staff had accepted a £20 tip in cash without saying 'oh the tip has already been taken'. Mr Prague and his partner were waiting on, and there were only about 10 tables to cater for. When I phoned to say we were almost £45 adrift I was told I should have checked the bill (why? Is this common practice). When I realised they had taken two tips and pointed this out, Mr Prague said 'come in and I'll give it to you'. Goading.... on top of no apology and a huge deflection of responsibility. Wow. Check you bills everyone, and don't expect courtesy.

After good start in the nice bar, a bit disappointed. Menu was not the menu on website and it did not inspire. Food we had was ok, service a bit lacking. Waited too long for somebody to take a dessert order and gave up.Such a lovely setting, something just lacking.

We recently had an evening meal at this restaurant.It was our first time and we were very impressed.The building is beautiful on the inside and the out.There is ample parking at the front.Upon entry there is a drinks area to the left and the dining rooms are to the right.The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is very cosy.The place is spotlessly clean.There is a limited menu for food but I do believe in quality over quantity.There are Vegetarian not Vegan options listed, however the kitchen can alter any dish to suit the dietary needs of the customer.The food we had was beautifully presented and very yummy although the portion sizes could have been a little bigger to fulfil those with a healthy appetite.I was very surprised and pleased that the kitchen went out of their way to provide me with a Vegan dessert (having notified them in advance of my food allergies).The staff were polite, professional and helpful.I recommend this place to all and look forward to returning sometime soon.

Excellent service and totally COVID friendly. Very amenable stag who gave you the feeling you were the only customers in the restaurant. The food was well presented and hot too. Not rushed and allowed to prefer from the comfort of the reception bar area before being seated. An excellent dining experience.

We ate here in 2008 when the restaurant first opened. Although the food was good, it was was overly posh and stuffy and the service was terrible. On the back of this and it being a drive to the other side of town for us, we never ate here again. Until tonight. We have a couple of favourite restaurants in Warrington and arriving back off holidays, couldn't get in to any of them at short notice. Thought we would try this on a whim and were not disappointed! Although still a grand building in a lovely setting, things are much more relaxed! The staff were lovely and attentive and most importantly, the food was delicious! I had the chicken souvlaki starter and the ribeye steak main and I could not have enjoyed it more! We also had desserts and delicious cocktails and the family left happy and satisfied. Maybe I've missed it, but to me this is a quiet, tucked away secret of a restaurant which should be shouting its existence from the roof tops. We'll definitely be back!

I was honestly expecting much better, but it turned out to be pretty average pub-standard food when I had different expectations based on the setting.

The food was not anything special. The chicken souvlaki was a joke - a bit of gnarled chicken, a teaspoon of humus, a couple of chopped cherry tomatoes, a tiny piece of dry pitta and no cucumber raita as menu promised. Had better at the pub. The king prawn risotto was over salty and had to be returned. The skin on the sea bass was flaccid and the chicken main was extremely dry. The venue itself felt tired and past its best however the staff were accommodating. Overall there are much better places to eat in Warrington

Dined at this great restaurant on Saturday......first outing since lockdown began! Delighted to say we weren’t disappointed! The food here is always first class and anyone who is nervous about venturing out needn’t be. Prague and his staff have social distancing sorted! Well done guys we had a lovely evening!

Absolutely enjoyed our meal today. Food was delicious. The steak the best I have ever had. Even the tomato was so tasty!!!! Social distancing measures in place but still managing to maintain a warm & friendly service. Can’t wait to go again.

My husband and I have visited Spirit frequently over the last 18 months. We find it perfect for a special occasion and for a cheeky Wednesday night treat. The atmosphere is welcoming and dining here is a very personal experience. We have never had anything other than amazing food (and I'm an awkward eater). We have sampled most of the cocktail list and there is a large wine list suitable for all budgets. The food is competitively price with other local restaurants and there is also an early doors fixed price menu. Sadly with the recent lockdown we will be unable to celebrate our first wedding anniversary in our favourite restaurant (though it took 20 years to marry so a few more months wait won't harm us!). We hope to survive the uncertainty of these days and that Prague, the ever charming Hannah and the rest of the team stay safe and well. We will see you again!

Hubby booked for us to go for valentines dinner, upon arriving there weren’t any sign of Valentines atmosphere whatsoever. No decos around the restaurant or anything on the tables. The scallop starter was delicious but non existent, only one scallop and it was sliced in two thin slices, and for the price of £13+ you would have expected at least three plump scallops on the plate!

The Spirit restaurant is a fabulous place to dine. You are welcomed by a friendly smile. The food is superb and cooked to perfection. We both chose the rib-eye steak. Delicious. The starters and desserts equally so, complemented with a lovely Beaujolais. Would highly recommended.

For only the second time ever my wife and I ate out on Christmas Day this year.We chose the Spirit restaurant in Victoria park and were not disappointed.The welcome was warm, the atmosphere a delight, the food excellent, the company friendly and the guitarist an enjoyable surprise.This may only have been the second time we've eaten out on 'the day' but if every time we do it's like this we'll never eat in again!Highly recommended - and not just for Christmas....

Beautiful building - lovely food. Slow service - staff seemed stretched ( but restaurant not full) and we had to ask for every drink we ordered. 8 at the table - 5 pieces of bread .... just details missing that I would expect for a good restaurant. Accidental drink poured over one of our party - quick apology and an additional hefty service charge on the bill. Yes we should have complained. But we were trying to enjoy an xmas group meal. I wouldn’t go for an Christmas meal again as atmosphere was lacking and staff were inattentive. I wouldn’t go again at Christmas.

Service at table was poor, table booked for 8pm, seated at 8.45. Steaks delivered incorrectly, no table checks re the food or drinks. Wrong menu delivered for sweets. Been here twice before and it was brilliant, this time extremely disappointed.

Booked a table for 7.15pm for a Christmas celebration with friends, wasn’t shown to our table for 55 minutes. Once seated there was a singer playing extremely loudly making it hard to have a conversation with our friends, dessert wasn’t served until 10.30pm. We had to ask for more drinks, once they arrived the wine wasn’t poured by the waiter. The brill arrived promptly once requested however there was an unexpected £30 service charge added which we decided not to pay due to the slow / poor service unfortunately none of our party of 6 will be returning.

Bit disapointed had to wait nearly 50 mins after our booking time to sit at our table . Starter was nice but 8 of us ordered the steak and it was chewy and not great to be honest . Thought we were in for a very special meal but it wasn’t unfortunately . I don’t like to leave negative reviews but something was lacking about the place - atmosphere and service - sorry but we spent a lot of money here and no one seemed too interested in whether we enjoyed our meal or not . We won’t be returning or recommending .

Visited here as a birthday treat after reading some top 10 reviews online. From the minute we walked in we were made to feel welcome. I ordered the black pudding scotch egg that was excellent and my wife ordered the calamari, that she thoroughly enjoyed. Mains of rib eye steak and monk fish curry were equally tasty. Deserts of sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fondant topped of an equsite meal washed down with a lovely blush and malbec. All in all a hidden gem that is well worth a visit - premium food at a very reasonable price. Will definately give this place another visit!

We love this restaurant and brought friends for their first visit Once again staff ambience perfect however my main course was only luke warm very tasty but I would have liked it much hotter. I told the manager and he took it on board which is a positive. Otherwise cannot fault this fab restaurant

From arriving to have the main door opened for us all the way through to departure, this was a lovely place to spend our wedding anniversary. The tastiest steak we have both experienced for a long time and all the other dishes were well prepared and top quality. Service throughout by two young and professional girls could not be bettered. We and around fifty of our luncheon guests received a very warm welcome with such discreet and friendly service. Warrington is hiding this magnificent gem and we are so lucky to have discovered SPIRIT. The food was so delicious and the wines so affordable we really must revisit - soon!!

We ate at the 'Spirit' restaurant in Warrington (Victoria Park) last weekend. The place really is amazing; the food is superb and beautifully presented and Prague, the owner, is an excellent host. I can highly recommend.

Could not recommend this restaurant more highly. Fantastic food, very professional yet friendly service and such a lovely relaxing atmosphere. I actually can’t think of anything they could do to improve it and we will definitely be returning on a regular basis.

We took a while to locate Spirit as it's tucked away behind the Park but it didn't disappoint . A lovely setting. We sat inside the bar area looking at the menus it was a busy Saturday night and service was a little slow. The restaurant being busy was beautifully spread out. We could all hear ourselves speak which is rare on a Saturday night! The furniture and decor is very tasteful. The food was of a really high standard and delicious , beautifully presented. We ranged from roast tomato soup to halloumi ,beef kebabs,superb butternut squash ravioli , monkfish curry and lamb rump. Given the quality of the food it was reasonably priced. We look forward to returning.

Just returned from our lunch at the Spirit Restaurant in Warrington. This was our first visit and continues our search for somewhere that can provide a quality traditional Sunday Lunch. The Spirit was excellent - situated on the edge of Victoria Park, the setting is very good and there is plenty of parking space right outside the entrance. Being a large country house it is very airy with plenty of space. It is decorated in a light modern Bistro style. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. My wife and I had all three courses and can honestly say to is a long time since we have enjoyed a Sunday lunch so much - well done Spirit.

We have been here numerous times. I was actually born here when it was a maternity hospital back in the day. The setting, service , attention to detail is top notch. The food is amazing. The wine is excellent. After eating you can retire to the lounge and it rounds off a perfect evening. It is wonderful and special. Fay is an amazing person who chatted and mage our valentines meal extra special. This is a top drawer venue.

Love this place. Only had 1 disappointing visit and that was Mother's Day when they struggled to cope with the numbers of diners. This visit for Sunday lunch was faultless. Excellent service, beautiful surroundings and spectacular food. Great choice too. I had Turkish beef kebab with hummus and flatbread, roast chicken dinner (best Sunday roast I've ever had, everything was perfect) and sticky toffee pudding which defeated me but was delicious. Honestly can't fault anything on this visit, just brilliant!

Great little bar on arrival and then restaurant is spacious. You are not sat on top of other people and unavoidably hearing their conversations. Delish food and excellent service. Lovely for a special occasion.

We visited on a Saturday evening and the service was friendly and very efficient. I had the deep fried goats cheese starter which was nice overall but just a little cold in the middle and the ravioli which again was good but a little underdone for my taste. My husband also enjoyed his food.

A wonderful Christmas Eve spent with family at my favourite restuarant. As usual food was simply superb. Maryland crab cake starter was very tasty whilst sea bass main looked and tasted wonderful. Kids enjoyed the crispy duck Thai red curry. Am not normally a dessert person but the brownie with honeycomb ice cream was exceptional. Service and ambiance was excellent as usual. As a family we always enjoy the Spirit experience and will return again soon.

The Sunday lunch menu was superb and every course a winner, delicious and seasonal. Loved that we got to relax and chat between courses, the staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome.

This is a lovely setting for a restaurant- well proportioned rooms and large windows- it seems to be full of light even in the depths of winter. Decor is stylish. Staff are courteous, attentive and well trained. Customer service is natural and unaffected. The menu was refreshingly unchristmasy - quite meaty and not too long. The chef adapted some of the dishes to make them vegan- which was much appreciated. A tasty mushroom and tomato bruschetta followed by a beetroot, avocado and fig main course salad- the dressing on the beetroot was rather sharp but the combination of flavours was good. Homemade hot crab cakes came with avocado and red pepper sauces which for some reason were fridge cold. Delicate pumpkin ravioli was warmly satisfying. All of the food was well seasoned and beautifully presented but for what we ate it was on the expensive side, and we are used to London prices. It is probably the case that meat eaters get better value for money. This is a special place and worth a visit in spite of minor shortcomings mentioned above.

It is several years since last we visited Spirit and was even better than we remembered it. The food was delicious and service excellent. Love the ambience of the place.

After reading the reviews we thought we would book Spirit to celebrate our sons engagement. We were not disappointed.

Absolutely delicious food! I can highly recommend the scallops served with pork belky to start followed by the herb fed chicken and croquette... cooked to perfection. In fact, as a party of 4, every single meal was cooked to perfection; the salt beef hash to start and rib eye were also highly recommended.

The Spirit Restaurant is situated a little off the beaten track, at the rear of Victoria Park on Knutsford Road in Warrington. It is a former Maternity Hospital where I myself, was born almost 55 years ago, so a little strange going back and having a fine dining experience there!!

Fabulous food and friendly service. I have visited this establishment a few times now and have never left disappointed.

Not sure if it’s allowed but this is my second review of the Spirit Restaurant in Victoria Park. Having visited numerous times over the past 10 years that it has been open, this was the first time we have been for Sunday lunch as a family group. In my opinion the thing that makes a place is consistency. The Spirit has it. Consistently good food, consistently good service and a consistently good atmosphere.

Visited last night with 3 friends for dinner. Beautiful interior . Food was exceptional . We had the Orkney scallops ; beef hash with an egg on top - beautiful. Main courses we enjoyed chicken ; lamb with goats chees was so delicious and finished with the nicest dessert - portion sizes were very adequate also - well done and thank you I will be returning soon !

Very nice restaurant. The food was very well presented and the taste was a joy to behold. It was my first time here, but I am sure it wont be the last. It is an ideal restaurant for that special occasion.

We we're taken to this restaurant by friends, it is in a lovely peaceful park setting and not easy to find. The food was very good and the ambience of the place excellent as was the service. It is perhaps slightly more expensive than others in the area but worth every penny. An ideal location for people who wish to eat and enjoy a conversation over dinner, unlike so many cheaper locations where you can't hear yourself think.

Visited here with my friend who I hadn’t seen for over 18 months.

I chose this restaurant having been once for dinner, once to a funeral reception and once for Sunday lunch in March this year. On all occasions I was happy with the food and the service by the staff. My wife and I wanted a ctach up with close friends who were visiting us and we wanted a restaurant with nearby (outside the restaurant in this case) parking, a place where you can talk without noise and guaranteed good food. The Spirit ticked all the boxes. My friend and I had tomato and red pepper soup with rarebit; as always I wanted it piping hot and it was - delicious. My wife and his had falafel and enjoyed theirs. My friends and my wife had stone bass (a variant to sae bass) and I chose a ribeye. All enjoyed the meal and I have been abroad recently in two different countries and wanted good quality meat (sadly I had not had a good steak for a while). The steak was excellent with cafe de Paris sauce melted into it. Everything was hot from the chips to the large mushroom. The service was excellent and the owner, Prague, explained all the courses to us. My friends were very impressed and we shall certainly be returning.

This fine establishment is a treasure.

Sunday lunch £25 for three courses. Great menu spoilt for choice.Food and service is excellent. Situated in Victoria Park in a beautiful building both inside and out.

We arrived at Spirit for my Mother’s birthday celebrations to a warm and kind welcome from the manager and front of house staff.

First visit to this hidden gem, fantastic food and lovely very attentive staff, every course was a delight, I chose to have the house red and it was beautiful, will certainly be going back, highly recommended 11/10.

If you’re looking to eat out in Warrington then this place should be first on your list. Spirit, always delivers a fantastic experience.
