Went with family. The food was okay, some stuff was nice other bits not so much. The tika wasn’t the best in my opinion, bright red style! The service from the owner was a little uptight, we tried to make some conversation to lighten the mood but he’s a serious chap and wasn’t interested in a chat. Regardless it was okay, a little on the expensive side. When I visit family in the area i think I would rather try my luck in olney if it’s curry night.

A restaurant with an interior that is tired and sad. The food was very average and the place not very clean. The gents toilet had black mould growing on the back of the door and the chrome spare loo roll holder rusty. The carpet on the main walkway through was filthy. I know you don’t eat in any of these places but are indicative of the premises. Checked the council cleanliness rating and it’s 3 out of 5, although this isn’t displayed in the window. Overall not somewhere I will ever go back to as it stands or get takeaway food from.

Ordered a takeaway the last one I had was over a year ago but decided to give it ago again as it is the most local. Firstly I’m pretty sure the flier I had was not that old but the prices had gone up, the delivery charge is now in place even for Harrold residents and there’s no collection discount just replaced by a loyalty card, like spend over 20 quid x 5 times to get a tenner back ! Back to the food , it was lukewarm , understandable as the bridge is flooded to Carlton. However the both curries were swimming in oil. The chicken was poor quality , big clumps , not tender , found grey sinus and worst still …chicken skin ! This is gross. Very poor preparation and sub standard. The rice was ok , the naan was cold and the popdums appeared to have a tang like they’d been cooked in old oil. The cost has gone up considerably, close to 30 quid for 2 curries, one rice and a naan bread . These people really need to get a grip . I’d used them since 2014 but I’ve seen a real change and not for the better tbh. To add you’d think it common sense if you’re telling your customer that they have an old menu that you’d send a new one with the new costs with the food….. maybe cutting costs ….maybe ripping people off…maybe loosing the ability to maintain good customer service. I will be sticking to my usual from now on, burnt their bridges….people work too hard for these treats and tbh it’s lost its way .

Service was a bit slow as it was extremely busy but gave us time to digest our means without feeling rushed. We will definitely be back!! I would say it my new favourite restaurant for Indian food.

Loved this Indian as I live in the village but the quality has dropped massively since just before Christmas. Ordered 3 takeaways and twice the order has been wrong with the wrong dishes or items missing. Today I ordered and turned up 5 minutes early and the food was stone cold. So disappointing, I am not sure if it’s the staff as I no longer recognise anyone and not as friendly as the people that used to work there. Not sure on the chefs either as it does not seem as good anymore. So want it to be good but after 3 bad experiences in a row I’m probably going to try one in Olney next time.

My husband was in shock (as a harsh critic of food) at my choice of title for this review. Well here we are... I waited for a second visit to confirm consistency and it was indeed excellent all round. Possibly one of the best curry takeouts we've ever had. I don't recall a time when I could say a dish was faultless but this was. (Again).

To be honest it wasn’t well organised and in my opinion as we’re in tier 4 people shouldn’t have been going inside the building to collect their meals. The food was average, 30 minutes late and a dish missing. Couldn’t be bothered complaining or going back to explain. It’s a shame this is the only Indian takeaway left in the village. An average takeaway to end a bad year. Thank you.

Moving from Bedford where we were spoilt for choice with Indian food it was great to find the quality at this place was excellent. Service was good when we ordered however was a bit slow to bring us our bill due to the amount of customers they had in on the Friday night we visited. Crisp white table cloths, quality silverware, comfortable seating, good food and old fashioned service, and all at a very reasonable price. My starter of Tandoori Chicken was big enough for a main course. The portions of rice with the main course were a bit small though. I can say with authority that the spicyness of the Vindaloo was up to standard.

Was staying near by and fancied a good curry with my wife, arrived quite early 6:40pm and restaurant was empty but within an hour it had filled up and there were several reserved tables. Service was good and friendly all night, good menu and we were both happy with the food. Poppadoms and chutney started the meal nicely and the following dishes were tasty and spiced nicely. In my opinion and having tried many Indian restaurant's there are just two Indian reastaurants that I would call truly special, one is called Dine India in Bromsgrove worstershire, and the other Spices of Paradise in Harrold Bedfordshire. I have eaten here probably once a week for the last two years now, and have never been disappointed, the food is truly delicious at sensibly prices, the staff very friendly and the ambiance very relaxing. I can honestly say I have never had a meal that was not thoroughly enjoyable. As we travel to Harrold from Milton Ernest which is some distance, it really must be good.I am always happy to recommend this restaurant to my friends. From Tony of Milton Ernest.

Heard great things about this place and family members love it. 6 of us went on Friday evening. Popadoms and pickles were lovely but that is where it ended I’m afraid. We waited over an hour for food and when it did arrive it was barely warm. We sent 5 dishes back to find they microwaved them and sent them back out. The dishes were uninspiring overall, we were not offered another round of drinks and no apology for the long wait or cold food. Very poor. The takeaway business was doing well though as the bags kept passing us by! Didn’t stop us having a nice family evening though but had a lot better Indians

These days when a food review is read on the web it has to be taken with a huge pinch of salt - there are a lot of restaurants out there and they are not all 4 or 5 star. Anyway, we thought of that when trying this village location - 20 mins from Bedford - Indian in an old converted pub. As is the way, I'd checked the menu beforehand. It was impressively extensive..although it did make me think 'Can they possibly be cooking all that lot from scratch and will it all be from the same base ?'We arrived early - we booked, it was a Saturday - and the place was buzzing already. Probably half full in this sleepy village.. Greeting was..distracted, like they had many more important things to be thinking about. We had two waiters on the evening and both were more than a little sarcastic, not quite was is required on a first visit. After a wait we ordered drinks - took awhile to arrive - and then food. They were getting full by now and it took them some time to take the order. Our main waiter was a mature chap but he claimed to be 'new' and didn't know about many of the items we inquired about. Finally the food arrived - a selection of vegetable side dishes, some classic curries and a house specialty. I'm sorry to say most everything tasted and looked like it had the same base - as predicted. Flavours were dull and nothing to write home about. Either reviewers are easily pleased with average curry or...I don't know what. Certainly this place is no better than a 2.5 out of 5 in terms of food. One of the dishes we specifically asked to be served with chicken. It arrived with chicken and lamb, no warning was given. The waiter seemed surprised when I mentioned this but there was no apology and the dish stayed on the bill. Finally, a rating/opinion card was given with the bill. We gave an honest assessment - at this point the other waiter(very hassled) told us we should use his name - I think he said Shabs - and he intimidated that things were usually better, his excuse being how busy they were - the place was packed. Have to report too that something seriously upset my stomach upon returning home. Not good at all.We have lots of Indian restaurant choice around here so I don't think we'll return.

Well that's the negatives out of the way ! The staff where happy enough and the restaurant was light and well laid out. The food came out all the same time hot and tasty for ten people. My partner brought some Diet Coke from the bar and she sat down and said it was completely flat, so I took it back to the bar and asked the guy to pour us another to which he responded "I've just poured it, it's fresh" which caused a bit of a stir because it really wasn't fresh. In the end he swallowed his pride and decided to pour us a replacement. And it was flat again! So you can imagine my reluctance to even try the food when they can't provide a fresh coke! But we did decide to go ahead with food and it was fairly average, it was enjoyable but I didn't feel it was worth the 45 minute wait that's for sure. The waiters are quite unfriendly and quite honestly unwilling to help which is a shame because we have been looking for a new local restaurant! I personally wouldn't recommend this place because I feel you can find better alternatives that make you feel more welcomed to the establishment. I would also like to add for anyone who is looking to drive to the restaurant to advise that the car park for the restaurant only has about 5 spaces so if you've got a saloon, suv, estate only enter if you're pretty confident that you can manoeuvre in tight spaces (if all car parking spaces are full) if they are generally you can find some spaces along the street.I hope this helps!

Firstly, i have no problem with the flavours, quantity and quality of the food here. As I said, I think I've been unlucky by coming in larger groups which the venue seem to struggle with. Both in getting the food out, and the service that accompanies it. I really don't want to be waived away with a "I'm too busy ..." attitude. Having said that about the food, half the poppadums were soft. My butter chicken was very enjoyable, as were the accompanying chickpea dal and bombay aloo, and others have recommend the fish dishes here. Personally I prefer the Muntjac ( I do have some friends who hold the opposite view ) and this visit only served to reinforce that view.

Called in tonight for a 'quick' curry whilst my son was at a cubs event at the country park - so unfortunately time was rather restricted. It was Wednesday Banquet night - starter, main course, rice and side for £11.95 - so the food was good value - a couple of drinks doubled the price which is generally the case in Indian restaurants. The staff were attentive, good selection to choose from on the menu, the food arrived quickly, was tasty and plentiful. This was my first visit here and for a Wednesday night the place was really busy - not sure if this was because of the draw of the banquet night or if this is the norm - either way the atmosphere was good which added the evening. All in all a good experience and I'd definitely return - preferably when time is not quite as tight!!

Since the disingenuous slimy the owner seems to have left, dining here is so much more pleasurable - Food has always been good and the guys running it don't try and pick-your-pocket with some poppadom or over-calculated bill stunt anymore.Food is always fresh and of decent quality ingredient but STILL not served pipping hot - Luke warm every time and that is my only complaint.Would also be nice to get rid of that tacky tarpaulin banner from the front too.

I am amazed at some of the reviews for this restaurant! We have visited here with friends twice now and nothing has improved. The first visit was about 6 months ago, just before it changed management. Some of the staff are still the same, the food is still bland and the service is still not the best. All in all this restaurant is an expensive night out and nothing special. I don't think we'll be returning, going to try the other one in Harrold next time!

Heard from some friends who had had a delivery the food was excellent, so were meeting a few friends andv decided to book a table for 6. Was greeted with eye contact and a smile and positioned at a nice table. The good thing is the place is a good size so you do not feel closed in. The lighting and decor are just a right balance. We waited for the others to arrive before ordering. The service is brilliant throughout. They clear things away without you noticing like a top restaurant. They are constantly looking awaiting you to call them if you need something otherwise you are left alone. The food is served quite quickly, tables cleared promptly too. The food is excellent, presented well and apertising. The place was about 2/3 full so we could see it was popular. Will go back soon...highly recommended

We've been to this restaurant three times. The menu is very varied; we've tried something new every time and all the dishes have been delicious. The service is very good. Parking is a bit limited but the lovely food far outweighs that.

We booked for a 50th birthday celebration and were not disappointed. The service from the staff was fantastic, never waiting around to catch the staff even though the restaurant was very busy - and they have a great sense of humour which added to the evening. The food was amazing, every dish was fantastic and not swimming in food colouring and ghee. It was full of fresh ingredients and the vegetarian dishes were colourful and interesting. Would highly recommend

We had Avery good meal with starter, main course side, Naans and rice. There was a wide variety of choice for every course. The restaurant was busy with the waiters constantly bringing out food for all the tables. They did apologise for the delay due to staff shortage tonight, but once our order had been taken it was all very efficient. The waiters were all very polite and accommodating. The food was all very tasty with generous portions.

I visit this restaurant so often it's almost embarrassing and now I am living nearby I am always visiting for a takeaway. It is my go-to place for any special occasions (any occasion really)The service is impeccable, staff are polite and friendly - always assisting to find a table if a reservation has not been made. They offer a reward card which provides you with a £10 discount after 5 visits for takeaway or eat-in (£10 is for restaurant only)The food is fantastic - especially their Chicken Shimla. I have not found a restaurant in this area that even comes close to Spices of Paradise and recommend to my colleagues and friends on a regular basis

Food was tasty though I received a bout of what I feel was food poisoning. Still ill as I write.Service....um Waiter was completely inappropriate and unprofessional for these reasons1. It was obvious that he was against any inter racial relationship ie white indian. He chose to attack me verbally calling me a skinhead ...which provokes racist tones in order to cause us problems in our mixed relationship. On a personal note it was taken that my indian partner is better off with someone like him other than white person like myself2. Further attacks on the intolerances of the british media.regarding its views on islam.3. His attacks on the country of England and his general views on the nation ie a hint that English are intolerant of foreigners. Particularly against Asians.4. his opinions of what is womans work.5. Shaking of hands around the table of my party in order to find out the name of my partner as the handshaking stopped at her.So, to summarise, one waiter in particular was inappropriate and needs considerable training on his role towards the customer. He needs to learn the boundaries of conversation with the customer and refrain from providing opinions, He also to needs to realise that unprovoked attacks on customers is not acceptable because of his views on inter racial relationships. He is paid to do a job and this does not include causing ill feeling towards individuals because of his intolerant views.

We have visited this restaurant on many occasions and have never been disappointed. We thought we would try a take away last night and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were attentive whilst we waited the few minutes it took to fetch our order from the kitchen. The food was piping hot and maintained it's heat for the journey back to Lavendon, no cold food served on our plates when we got home! The flavours of the curry dishes were superb. The Bangladeshi style is different to Indian cuisine. The flavours are sublime, having strong aromatic flavours. We had the chicken Jhaal and chicken Bengal Naga Jalfrezi, both of which were the best dishes we have ever tasted and we will certainly be having again. The Dhonya Naan (Coriander) had more coriander in it than we have ever experienced in a coriander naan, it was lush! This place is an absolute gem and we will be returning for take aways and to eat in time and time again, it is absolutely fabulous, can't fault it!

The food was good and service was quite quick as it was a quiet evening in the restaurant. However I was, to be honest, offended by the waiter's opinions on homosexuality which he insisted on telling us about... We are all entitled to an opinion but sometimes it's best to keep it to yourself.

We ate here on a Saturday night in April - managed to get a table without booking - lucky as it was busy.Staff were welcoming and service was good - efficiency and friendly. Food was very good - reflecting a different region to many other restaurants in the Bedford area. Some interesting chutneys and the use of Naga chillies and roasted garlic in a number of dishes, for example. Delicious. Prices were good we thought and reflected a nice environment and good quality food.

Since our first visit here we have not considered going to any other Indian restaurant. The service is always friendly and efficient, there is an excellent menu that allows for adventure and old favorites. There is always a great atmosphere whether in a large party or a quiet meal for two.

My sister took me out for dinner here as her children are rather fussy about their food. Everything that was ordered was perfectly cooked and delicious. As a lover of Indian food, I have been back several times since as the journey is well worth it. As I am rather fond of lamb dishes I get really disappointed when Indian restaurants try and pass off beef as lamb. This place has some of the best lamb dishes I have had while in England. The service and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.I've taken friends there and they also agreed that the place is a cut above the rest.Going there with my wife and friends later this week as we all love good food. Is it worth a 10 mile drive? Yes, for sure.

We only ate here because Harrolds Indian (The Muntjac) was fully booked. Wish I had a take away instead. Of a party of 4, 2 dishes were completely wrong. Even the second dishes were incorrect and missing side dishes. Restaurant staff were not even sure who or if the owner was in and seemed to think they were doing us a favour by deducting the poppadum's off the bill - £8!!!!!!! Save your money and head up the road.

A good menu with some interesting speciality dishes. They are well cooked, with good quality ingredients. Puts some other curry houses in the local area, e.g. in Olney, to shame - the dishes are a slightly different class. Very refreshing to be able to rely on a curry house, which to date, has never disappointed.

I have come here quite a lot with my friend and I can't complain about the food its really nice but I must say the waiters are really unprofessional and always take a long time to serve us our drinks it's really annoying and especially the manager its disgusting the way he looks at women on their table I've seen it quite a lot now including mine. I feel bad for the only girl working there. All I can say is that I like to feel comfortable and not have to wait for my drinks to arrive when our mains come when I go out to eat and this is no place for that

We enjoyed a curry with friends last weekend at Spices of Paradise. The restaurant was packed and had a great atmosphere. The staff were on the ball, attentive and made us feel welcome. The food was ok - nothing that really set it apart, but tasty, plenty of it and a good range on the menu.I am sure we would go again, but there are so many places that it may be while

I was pleasantly surprised with the number of people dining at this village restaurant on Wednesday night. This was most likely because it was banquet night - a start, main, side and rice/naan for £11.95. This was very good value for money, and explained why the staff encouraged us to buy drinks. Our starters arrived in good time. I thought my onion bhajis had a nice flavour but could have been crispier. Then the hot plates arrived and shortly after our mains. I liked the hot plates and the fact that our dining plates had been warmed too. The food was tasty- no dry meat, and it was all full of flavour. Everyone was happy with their meals and I'd be happy to come here again - especially as the restaurant has its own car park. One thing I think could improve the restaurant is if the toilets weren't so cold and cramped.

I have visited this restaurant a few times with friends for various occasions. The food is always fine, nothing spectacular, but nice! The service could do with a brush up!! There is always something missing, cutlery, serviette, extra wine glasses, even when asked for it seems to take an absolute age to get whatever you've asked for! The staff are polite, but seem to concentrate on taking your order and delivering your dishes, however when they've only partially cleared the table of starters and brought your main dish and yet you've no knife and fork to eat it with despite having to ask 2-3 times and then end up getting your own from a vacant table, in my opinion that's not great! Attention to detail and this this could be so much better!

Big and spacious restaurant, was packed within half an hour on Saturday night so we had to wait about 15 mins for a table as we didn't book but that's fair considering we should have booked. Lady on the bar was friendly offered us drinks whilst we waited and gave us menus. When we got to our table the food came at a reasonable time as we ordered on the bar, the food was first class and never disappoints even on a busy night. Service was friendly considering how busy it was, my friends loved the food, so yeh u will be seeing us again.

Two hours late. Someone called and said they were stuck in mud and I could go collect it from them as I was only 8 mins away ☹️. Ten mins later someone from the restaurant called and said it would be with me in 40 mins, which it was. Usually good.

Always great food, not your regular "indian" so don't expect naan and chicken madras, but wonderful south Indian food. Dosa a must, and fish curries are great. Also good value and helpful staff.
