Food was not great, biryani was burnt

I ordered chicken momos from this restaurant on delivery when I checked instead of momos it is few chicken pieces in wrapped poori or chappati, I was so unhappy and when I called this restaurant for my shock this person was telling me that this is their momos and I said that is so unfair as I was searching for momos and you send me this he was laughing at me saying this is their momos and they call this recipie momos , he said he will change the name next time as he was making fun of me ....terrible food ,terrible serive ,terrible customer care ........

Best special rice and lamb tikka jalfrezi in Bedford.

Had a takeaway last night, just what I've been looking for!

Ordered a couple times from here now and food has been brilliant each time, I love a butter chicken and this one from here tastes so good will definitely be ordering again. Always an excellent service and always on time definitely recommend.

We just had garlic naan and bindi bajji. Both of the items were delicious and worth for money. I never had such a good naan around bedford. Keep it up guys.

stay away at all costs..got food poisoning from this dodgy takeaway and hair in my food!!..luckily i got my refund from just eat..the manager is also racist!!..shut them down before my lawyers do!

I ordered a chicken biryani it was nice till the next morning i was vomiting and now got FOOD POISONING . Wont be going there again.

Had a couple of good orders from here but really disappointed this evening. Quoted 1hr 15 min for delivery, 2hr 10min it turned up. Food was mediocre and warm at best.

Hit or miss this one! Won’t be ordering from here again! Missed items off order and then told to wait......never came. Spoilt the meal.

Dry and tasteless; ordered £2 worth of dip for popadoms; came with baji sauce and I didn’t even order them.

I have now visited shabs many times and each has been brilliant! They do great offers and there food is truly delicious! I have been with family members and as a couple they have always been great!

Went their with my sister because of the huge advertisement on papers, as we walked in on a tues evening it was quiet no music on and waiter was very bland And moody ordered 2 cokes which were as flat as hell! Then we ordered starters which took 45minz to arrive as I think their chef turned up late! Food was nice but served with no sauces!! Then we ordered mains which arrived fairly quicker as their chef was there at that time! Rice was served on a tiny small plate and looked like they could fall off any min! Nan was superb at that point the music turned on all of a sudden! When we nearly finished our mains, after that we were given the hot towels but given no dessert menu or offered nothing sweet!! Isn't thus supposed to be a restaurant ??? And finally at the end was given the bill which he over priced not sure why as their was only mine and other table the whole way through!! I questioned why he doubled up the price of my starter he said he got that mistaken for the main price!!!!! However he re-added it an it was still a few pounds up I just paid it an left,,, not really somewhere I would go again?

Went to Shab's expecting the usual high standard of service. Not to be. No cold beer. No lime pickle. Food not up to the usual standard. I enquired as to what was going on. The restaurant had new owner who was also cheffing. I hope it gets better.

I was very upset and outraged after tonight’s meal. Having arrived at the restaurant at 7.30pm we did not receive our main meals until well after 9pm. The main meals were returned to the kitchen twice before they were even edible; the first attempt was luke warm/cold and the second attempt had half of the food we had ordered missing. When presented with the bill we were horrified to the amount it came to as the majority of the food was inedible. When faced with the manager his response was rude and aggressive. He slammed his fists down onto the bar and ordered we paid for all the food he sent out to our table. When we declined he phoned the police and continued to shout in our faces with aggressive body language. We were well within our rights to not pay for poor quality food (cold and missing), therefore the police did not attend. We will not be attending again and we highly recommend you choose another restaurant who values their dining guests without aggression or threats.

Mr Shab runs a smart establishment, though it is undeservedly difficult to identify in the morass of restaurants on Tavistock Street.The staff are very attentive, the food is quite good. Naans are not as gigantic as I have had elsewhere but the "sizzling selection" does great justice its name.Regrettably the restaurant is basically empty on a Tuesday night, which is a great shame.Three of us paid £45 for two courses incl. drinks using a "taste card".

I have sampled many of the the Indian restaurants along Tavistock street and I have found Shabs the best.The food has been fantastic,not to hot and very flavoursome which in my book is a winner, as for the drinks try the mongoose, a great little story is behind the making of this drink which makes it taste all that more.As for the price you can not fault it, fantastic deals to be had on eat in and takeaway.Overall a brilliant Indian restaurant with great drinks and even better bills at the end.

I never liked Indian food, and then me and my boyfriend decided to visit this place... and I absolutely love it! We just went there tonight, we got there after 10pm, but service was still amazing - they were really nice, even if in some restaurants staff hate people coming for a meal so lat. Honestly, this place is worth to visit! Really nice food, friendly staff..and our bill was nice as well!

Went to Shabs only recently for a revisit and found no problem with the food or service .Would highly recommend and will almost certain return. Well done Shabs.

Onion bahji's are soggy. The curry was bland and watery. Generally, not good, I'd give this one a miss if I was you.

Served cold plates on last visit. Food served up luke warm and had to send it back to be reheated. I am an old returning customer but will try another restaurant in the future. Sent restaurant an email asking for their comments. They could not be bothered to reply

I went with a group of friends for my birthday. Food was good, service was excellent, nice deco and atmosphere, price was reasonable was all worth it! I would defenetely go back n recommend this place.

Me and nine other friends booked a table at this restaurant after a few of us had a very lovely conversation with the chef and staff who all we're incredibly friendly. Due to the fact that me and my friends are all students, the chef gave a more than generous deal on our overall bill. If I'm being honest, a few of us weren't expecting much due to the offer the chef gave us. However, instantly we were proved wrong. The table upon arrival was set up professionally in the middle of the restaurant and the staff were more than welcome and friendly. Popadoms and drinks were on the table within minutes. I cannot fault the service. The staff were always more than happy to serve us and to take our order. On to the food. I ordered the King Prawn Saag. Excellent!! Best Saag I've ever had. Honestly! I have no complaints about my food. However, one my friends said his food wasn't warm enough. However, there were 10 of us and all the food came together, so some dishes we're bound to be hotter than other, but if I'm being honest that is a very minor problem when everything else was so good!At the end of the meal, hot towels were all given to us which was a nice touch. Being a newish restaurant it was obvious they were out to impress and they achieved that goal leaps and bounds. The food overall was very good and the service was faultless. In a nutshell we will DEFIANTLY be back! We won't be as loud this time! :)

My partner & I have been going here since the restaurant opened. Whenever we go in we are always greeted really well, and always made to feel welcome. All of the staff here are very attentive, ensuring you are never in need of a drink and are happy with your meal. The food itself is brilliant. I am hesitant of trying dishes I have not eaten before and so I used to always stick to Chicken Tikka Masala, however I've since tried plenty more and everything I have tried is cooked to perfection. The Chicken Rezala is my favourite. Neither of us have had a meal there that we didn't like. You should definitely give this restaurant a visit if you've not been before. Highly recommended.

I love a jalfrezi now and again. Shabs is a reasonably new restaurant and they are working hard to gain a good reputation. The chicken jalfrezi I ordered was perfect. Hot and tasty. The waiters were attentive, not intrusive and the ambience is good. Will visit again.

Went here for a friends birthday party on a Saturday evening. Not many other customers by any means but the food was lovely and the service friendly

We always enjoy a trip to Shabs, the service is warm and welcoming without being overbearing, the food is so tasty and well presented, and it's great value for money too. We especially love their draft beer choice - a Wells and Young's brewed premium offer, far nicer than the normal choice of Kingfisher and better value than the bottled Cobra.highly recommend!

At 50% off there must be major cutbacks in quality. The fish I had was very dry and hard, I'm guessing this was frozen to cut back on costs as it had a really fishy taste. Although my friend enjoyed his madras, he didn't say it was anything to really brag about. Service was okay I guess, but u can expect a good service at most Indians in Bedford now. Wouldn't say avoid this place as it isn't terrible, but I guess the quality u get us a reflection of what u pay. Will stick to spice villa a quaint favourite of mine.

We love this restaurant and have been a few times now. We're always looked after so well by the staff which makes it a treat. We recently moved out of Bedford but still travel in to eat here. Well worth it!

To be perfectly honest there isn't a huge amount to say about this place. The décor is standard for an indian restaurant these days, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was OK. It was fine. My 'madras hot' chicken rezalla was very mild - but maybe that's just me. Close proximity to the newly refurbished (and pretty fine looking) Tavistock pub, makes it a OK choice on a drizzly Tuesday evening.
