Spice valley in Norwich

Bloody awful experience, after waiting 1.3hours for our food and being told its 5 mins ever time we asked my food turned out 20 mins later. my food was pretty average. My 2 friends had ordered chicken tikka and got hot sauce but the chicken was cold! And raw! Then when they walked out it, the manager tried to charge me and a friend 120.00 even though my meal was only 20.00 and his was 40.00, there was a argument about this to the point the server put his hands around my throat infront of more than 15 customers at the bar!! Extremely shocked! Would give 0 stars if possible the customer service was Terrible !!! Never ever going back! Not fake

The only downside last night the bombay aloo was firey next time I'll be ordering a mild dish as I'm not huge on spicy dishes but you do great korma. And I must try your murg mum taz one day

Came here at its opening evening several years ago. I've never been back until last week. I had a very nice Balti curry, with Bombay Aloo and rice.

We visited Spice Valley Sunday evening as a party of 5. Everyone commented how good and well presented all the food was, also all the staff were helpful courteous and polite. We would definitely visit again soon.

Wonderful customer service and dinner experience as a family. Really enjoyed the food and ambience within the restaurant was so gorgeous, welcoming and very relaxing. Great atmosphere for wedding partyes, birthdays and special occasions as well. Thank you so much Spice Valley staff. A MUST TO VISIT RESTAURANT 💕🙏👍👏👏👏👏

Decided to go to spice valley for my first ever Indian meal, the staff was extremely helpful in helping me select the right choice for me. I opted for the Chicken Madras , Pilau Rice & Garlic Naan. The food was prepared quickly and efficiently and was completely amazing. Staff was quick to clear away my plate and bring me a warm towel and the dessert menu in which I picked the walnut & caramel ice cream bowl. 10/10 for food , service and all round experience. Can’t recommend this place any higher!!!!

Great food! We went here for a birthday and all 6 of us really enjoyed our food. Servers were very friendly and even gave a bottle of beer to the birthday boy!

BLOODY AWFUL PLACE ZERO HOSPITALITY MANNERISMS They don't serve Indian food at all. They are Bangladeshi not Indian and they don't even know how to cook Indian food. They took ages to serve our food. Everything was super bland and flavourless. The presentation was not appealing. The food was pathetic, we didn't eat anything. The staff service was horrible and inappropriate. They were too loud. They literally took our starter plate though we didn't finish that. We were extremely disappointed by their hospitality. I would never recommend anyone to go for Indian food. Moreover, when we asked them for a customer copy of the invoice...they didn't even give us one. They didn't even greet or welcome. They didn't even say any thank you. They didn't have the courtesy to ask whether we liked the food however everything was left as it is. If I was given a choice, I would have given them negative numbers of stars to rate. Ughhh..!! I want to write much more but I am sure it's explicit enough for people to choose whether to go or not. Not at all thankful Yours truly One of the honest customers :)

Possibly one of the best tasting Indian restaurants I have ever visited. The Patia had a good heat, but was not overpowering so still possible to taste the delights of the whole meal. The staff and owner present a family atmosphere and couldn’t be more helpful. An excellent selection of Asian beers along with a zero alcohol one too. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to others. 5 stars.

Korma was over sweet madras was bland and can't get a simple pilau rice it's a no from us

Went here again tonight after a long time, we will not return! Place was empty, food was disgusting, greasy and horrible, not a nice experience again!!!

The food is okay, Ambience good but the service is horrible, The guys are literally rude when you ask them questions or try to change your order.

Second visit to Spice Valley. We have eaten in many, many curry houses over the years but would now not consider anywhere else. The Kala Bhuna is amazing, as is the service.

We always have an amazing time at Spice Valley. Food is always excellent. Staff always go above and beyond. Atmosphere always pleasant. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Norwich.

Ordered a takeaway from uber eats, paneer and chicken grill. The paneer was aweful. Chicken was okay. I wouldn't recommend this food to anyone. Interesting to note that anyone's low review, has been regarded as fake or racist.

Not often I would do this but this takeaway that was just delivered was the worst Indian I’ve ever received. Currently we are trying a different one every week to see what’s best now lucky tandoori has changed. The byriani Christ the rice watery all you can taste of full on water. The vegetables curry I’m not sure what it even was no taste flavour or anything. Same with my gf meal passander and special fried rice. Worst ever

Lamb Karahi and Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi were OK, but exceptionally oily that was disappointing. Having to decant the curry from oil for me and my son was not enjoyable. I am sure the food is good but not easy to tell on a first visit. Would probably return for a biryani and a mixed grill but will avoid curries. Staff were attentive and professional.

Ordered Lamb Kharai and Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi (£36) with 4 popadoms and pickle. I think the curries were OK and had some flavour but very hard to tell as they were both "exceptionally oily". I did mention it and the waiter said the jalfrezi is usually oily not realising my sons curry was just as oily. I suspect this is the way the curries are cooked amd havind to drain the curry from oil is not a great experinece (see pics). I don't think we will return but the chicken tikka was very well cooked so they tandoori dishes will probably be very nice.

This place should be called 'The Aquarium' on account of the rather unusual fish-tank/Russian interrogation room style decor. It doesn't 'look' busy either because all the tables are secretly stowed down the back of the restaurant. I've been in twice over the last month and both times have been impressive. The chicken dhansak is fresh and fragrant, better than the majority of Indian restaurants in Norwich and I have tried them all. Weirdly, the food was even more orgasmic on the night they were very short staffed. Portions are just right too. Poppadoms and chutneys are crispy and fresh. Typically costs us £25pp, we like the staff and we are coming back.

6 of us visited on a Saturday evening around 20:30, the restaurant, unfortunately, was pretty quiet for a Saturday night. We were seated at the front end of the restaurant, which we found to be very cold. The staff were very attentive and helped with choosing our curries. Drinks and starters orders taken all arrived promptly. Then the main orders. All mains delivered were hot and looked really good. I had the Dopiaza which I have had in a few other Indian restaurants so it was strange when I found a hard lump in it, I thought it may be a chunk of pineapple which I have an allergy too. Spoke with the waiter and he was unsure what it was so took it to the kitchen for the chef to check. He came back and apologised and said the chef was cutting pumpkin and unfortunately a chunk ended up in my curry. The waiter apologised but this could have been a lot worse and cross contamination should not be happening. Everyone else’s curries were lovely and no complaints there. We ordered more drinks which only half of the order arrived, we had to re order the other half. When receiving the bill we were unsure whether we had been charged twice for the re ordered drinks as the bill does not specify which drinks have been ordered, just a total of drinks and the food is clearly itemised. Toilets and restaurant in general appeared clean and well looked after. The restaurant is very pretty but not as intimate as other Indian restaurants I have visited and for this, and the issue with the pumpkin in my curry and reordering of drinks, I would not return.

Worst Indian food restaurant in Norwich. The food had no taste as if there was no salt. The service was extremely bad. The servers didn’t serve properly and got angry when I asked something twice. The old server with shaved head and glasses was extremely rude. First he attended us really late after being seated. This is still understandable due to restaurant being busy. But then once we started to place order, I and my wife tried ordering some starters first but the server literally yelled at us saying you cannot place order one by one, place all at once or do not place it at all. We were stunned by the behaviour. We had to order the whole food. And then food tasted so so bad. It was fairly expensive. The two of us had to pay about £75 for food and drinks. And to be honest £40-50 worth of food was wasted since we didn’t like it at all. The bill copy was a handwritten, it wasn’t a proper invoice. We highly recommend NEVER to go there.

Absolutely impeccable service! These guys are always so polite, they cater for your needs, and are so welcoming! It’s the ultimate experience, it’s as if you’ve visited India yourself! Amazing food, always cooked to perfection, amazing prices, realistic and beautiful atmosphere and decor! We have been more than three times to this place and we will never change our curry house now! Walked past this place on a Wednesday night whilst staying in Norwich and saw a notice in the window. Ultimate Deal is offered Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. 4 course meal being any starter ( excluding king prawns where you must pay extra ), main meal from the " Old Favourites " section of the menu ( but again extra for king prawns ), any rice or naan and any vegetable side dish. £15.95 the lot. So I gave it a go. I havent been to this place before so I have no past experience to compare it with on non Ultimate Deal nights. I started with Onion Pakora ( posh onion bahjees ) then a main of chicken karahi ( very nice but the sauce was a little watery I thought). A sag paneer as a vegetable side dish and a peshwari naan. Very tasty I thought. No sign of the portions being cut which you can sometimes see with special offer deals. Plenty there for me and I can usually tuck it away ! Pint of Cobra £5.95. I was charged extra for popadoms and chutneys. A good deal I thought for a tasty meal. Place looked clean and tidy, toilets were OK etc. It seemed quiet there mid week hence I assume this was the reason for the mid week special deal to try and get more people in. So give it a go I say Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday nights.

I have NEVER tasted curries like it - awful! Staff were very aggressive when I questioned our meals: when we got the bill, I asked why we had been charged £22 for 2 popadoms for 8 people - that’s the price apparently. Will never return based on food and service

Food here amazing, cooked to perfection. Lobster was fantastic and the chef cooked your food to the spice strength required. Staff really friendly and was given a bottle of prosecco as a gift when we left. This place is a must to eat in.

We went and had the Balti curry, Poppadoms, and Bhuna Curry with a naan bread with the Balti curry. We had the vegetarian options for the curry. Fantastic customer service, really make sure everything is good and very welcoming. I will definitely return again.

Food was great and staff were friendly and quick. Decor is quirky but makes for a lovely atmosphere. Only request I would make is making vegan/dairy free options more obvious. Dishes were marked vegetarian but knowing about butter/ghee/cream etc would have been more reassuring.

We came here on a quiet evening to celebrate a birthday and it was great. The food was brilliant with generous portions and the service was very good. Highly recommended.

We were in Norwich for one night & chose this restaurant based on previous reviews. We had a great evening and were well looked after by the owner, Mr Ahmed, and his team. Food was excellent as was service and ambience. We hope to return soon.

Spice Valley was recommended to us by friends. We couldn't have been more happy with the choice. Food and service both fantastic. The Naan was some of the fluffiest we've ever tried. Absolutely delicious meal, couldn't recommend it highly enough

Went to Spice Valley la on a date, place was lovely, service was astounding! Food was Top notch! Now I’ve been to many Indian restaurants and I had my doubts to start with before entering Spice Valley, since other restaurants I’ve been to in the past I’ve felt like was being rushed out the door, but not this place! the waiters were brilliant!! Also to finish our night off there they gave us complimentary drinks, plus we was both impressed by the prices!

My partner and I had dinner at Spice Valley and it was overall such a lovely experience. The food was delicious and full of flavour and the service was like none we have experienced before. All the staff were so hospitable, bubbly and friendly, we were welcomed by everyone. In particular Abdur who waited our table and shared lovely conversation with us, he went above and beyond to make our dinner special and we highly recommend paying a visit to Spice Valley, we certainly will be going back there again.

I've been taking short holidays in Norwich since 2004, mostly for the pubs, sometimes also taking in CAMRAs October beer festival. Indian restaurants have been somewhat here today and gone tomorrow, sadly the Nazma and my old favourite Passage to India in Magdalen St are no longer with us. So on my first visit since lockdowns, I'm happy to say this is my new favourite. Had my usual chicken vindaloo, fried rice, poppadom, half Kingfisher. It was excellent, a bit better than exactly the same dinner I had in the more long established Indian next door the previous night, more chicken, less potato. Bill only £14.65 as a 20% off voucher was included in the beer festival programme, so hope to see you in a years' time.

I have been enjoying Indian cuisine for more than three decades and the meal I had here last night I would count as among the best I have had. The staff were friendly and attentive and the prices reasonable - what more could you want?

A first visit by 14 cricketers enjoying the opportunity to celebrate the end of another successful season. The staff were warm and helpful. The food excellent. The surroundings really comfortable and airy plus the loos were spotless. More than happy to return again in the future.

Absolutely top notch Indian food. On a par with pretty much anywhere I’ve been, certainly at this price level. Service was fantastic, really attentive.

The prices upped up a notch when you dined there. I felt humiliated when the waiter corrected me. The employees seemed very busy with very little actual things to do. The spices were fine.

We had a family meal with another family and all our kids, some of whom aren’t overly keen on Indian cuisine. Despite this, they catered for them really well. All the food we had was really nice and the service was fantastic. It was my birthday celebration and they gave me a free drink and dessert which I found very nice. The kids liked all the colourful water features and illuminated menus and they were treated to free ice creams as well. Overall, a very nice place to eat with delicious food and great service. I would highly recommend.

Brilliant restaurant - I have never had a bad meal in the place. The staff are always incredibly helpful and polite inside the restaurant. As a side note, we recently booked Spice Valley for our festival wedding. Arrived on time, still hot and the same high quality that we expected. Amazing - thank you so much!

Yesterday which was my 2nd visit, I requested a vegetable phall which had ghost chilis in it, not only is it the hottest phall I've ever had by far, it's also the most delicious with a nice selection of vegetables. Lacking a little atmosphere due to the time we visited, but that's only because it was early in the evening and was still quiet. Made to feel very welcome, the food and service was excellent, we all chose different meals and they were all extremely flavoursome and well presented. Certainly worth a revisit.

Had high hopes as recommended. I only eat korma so am quite a connoisseur of a good one. The service was good and attentive staff. I didn’t want to complain as it was so quiet , but the korma was white and just tasted of double cream. It had no taste other than cream and so I couldn’t eat much of it. It’s like they forgot to add anything other than cream, not even salt or any flavour at all. The naan was nice but the restaurant smelt of bleach which put me off abit too. Shame but I wouldn’t return as ambiance abit off too, abit canteen like and not very intimate

Probably the worst Indian meal I have ever had, started badly with flat bear, chutney not right, 8 of us out for the night, 5 had chicken, this was tough, dry and tasteless, I had a madras and the sauce was not at all good, another there dish looked it had yoghurt as a sauce. Service very slow, only one man doing any work and took for ever to clear the tables.

What a great restaurant! My fiancé and I went there for my birthday meal, and we were blown away by the food and the service. We were given great recommendations from the Specialities portion of their menu. We'll definitely be visiting again!
