Spice valley in Norwich

We always have an amazing time at Spice Valley. Food is always excellent. Staff always go above and beyond. Atmosphere always pleasant. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Norwich.

Ordered a takeaway from uber eats, paneer and chicken grill. The paneer was aweful. Chicken was okay. I wouldn't recommend this food to anyone. Interesting to note that anyone's low review, has been regarded as fake or racist.

Not often I would do this but this takeaway that was just delivered was the worst Indian I’ve ever received. Currently we are trying a different one every week to see what’s best now lucky tandoori has changed. The byriani Christ the rice watery all you can taste of full on water. The vegetables curry I’m not sure what it even was no taste flavour or anything. Same with my gf meal passander and special fried rice. Worst ever

Warm and friendly staff. Drinks and food came in an instant. And free drinks offered after dessert. We will go back

Nice place , and friendly, I tried the lamb but they hadn't removed the fatty bits so didn't really enjoy the dish , will try again but something different

Lamb Karahi and Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi were OK, but exceptionally oily that was disappointing. Having to decant the curry from oil for me and my son was not enjoyable. I am sure the food is good but not easy to tell on a first visit. Would probably return for a biryani and a mixed grill but will avoid curries. Staff were attentive and professional.

BLOODY AWFUL PLACE ZERO HOSPITALITY MANNERISMS They don't serve Indian food at all. They are Bangladeshi not Indian and they don't even know how to cook Indian food. They took ages to serve our food. Everything was super bland and flavourless. The presentation was not appealing. The food was pathetic, we didn't eat anything. The staff service was horrible and inappropriate. They were too loud. They literally took our starter plate though we didn't finish that. We were extremely disappointed by their hospitality. I would never recommend anyone to go for Indian food. Moreover, when we asked them for a customer copy of the invoice...they didn't even give us one. They didn't even greet or welcome. They didn't even say any thank you. They didn't have the courtesy to ask whether we liked the food however everything was left as it is. If I was given a choice, I would have given them negative numbers of stars to rate. Ughhh..!! I want to write much more but I am sure it's explicit enough for people to choose whether to go or not. Not at all thankful Yours truly One of the honest customers :)

Worst Indian food restaurant in Norwich. The food had no taste as if there was no salt. The service was extremely bad. The servers didn’t serve properly and got angry when I asked something twice. The old server with shaved head and glasses was extremely rude. First he attended us really late after being seated. This is still understandable due to restaurant being busy. But then once we started to place order, I and my wife tried ordering some starters first but the server literally yelled at us saying you cannot place order one by one, place all at once or do not place it at all. We were stunned by the behaviour. We had to order the whole food. And then food tasted so so bad. It was fairly expensive. The two of us had to pay about £75 for food and drinks. And to be honest £40-50 worth of food was wasted since we didn’t like it at all. The bill copy was a handwritten, it wasn’t a proper invoice. We highly recommend NEVER to go there.

I have NEVER tasted curries like it - awful! Staff were very aggressive when I questioned our meals: when we got the bill, I asked why we had been charged £22 for 2 popadoms for 8 people - that’s the price apparently. Will never return based on food and service

We went and had the Balti curry, Poppadoms, and Bhuna Curry with a naan bread with the Balti curry. We had the vegetarian options for the curry. Fantastic customer service, really make sure everything is good and very welcoming. I will definitely return again.

Food was great and staff were friendly and quick. Decor is quirky but makes for a lovely atmosphere. Only request I would make is making vegan/dairy free options more obvious. Dishes were marked vegetarian but knowing about butter/ghee/cream etc would have been more reassuring.

We came here on a quiet evening to celebrate a birthday and it was great. The food was brilliant with generous portions and the service was very good. Highly recommended.

We were in Norwich for one night & chose this restaurant based on previous reviews. We had a great evening and were well looked after by the owner, Mr Ahmed, and his team. Food was excellent as was service and ambience. We hope to return soon.

Spice Valley was recommended to us by friends. We couldn't have been more happy with the choice. Food and service both fantastic. The Naan was some of the fluffiest we've ever tried. Absolutely delicious meal, couldn't recommend it highly enough

Went to Spice Valley la on a date, place was lovely, service was astounding! Food was Top notch! Now I’ve been to many Indian restaurants and I had my doubts to start with before entering Spice Valley, since other restaurants I’ve been to in the past I’ve felt like was being rushed out the door, but not this place! the waiters were brilliant!! Also to finish our night off there they gave us complimentary drinks, plus we was both impressed by the prices!

I've been taking short holidays in Norwich since 2004, mostly for the pubs, sometimes also taking in CAMRAs October beer festival. Indian restaurants have been somewhat here today and gone tomorrow, sadly the Nazma and my old favourite Passage to India in Magdalen St are no longer with us. So on my first visit since lockdowns, I'm happy to say this is my new favourite. Had my usual chicken vindaloo, fried rice, poppadom, half Kingfisher. It was excellent, a bit better than exactly the same dinner I had in the more long established Indian next door the previous night, more chicken, less potato. Bill only £14.65 as a 20% off voucher was included in the beer festival programme, so hope to see you in a years' time.

My partner and I had dinner at Spice Valley and it was overall such a lovely experience. The food was delicious and full of flavour and the service was like none we have experienced before. All the staff were so hospitable, bubbly and friendly, we were welcomed by everyone. In particular Abdur who waited our table and shared lovely conversation with us, he went above and beyond to make our dinner special and we highly recommend paying a visit to Spice Valley, we certainly will be going back there again.

I have been enjoying Indian cuisine for more than three decades and the meal I had here last night I would count as among the best I have had. The staff were friendly and attentive and the prices reasonable - what more could you want?

A first visit by 14 cricketers enjoying the opportunity to celebrate the end of another successful season. The staff were warm and helpful. The food excellent. The surroundings really comfortable and airy plus the loos were spotless. More than happy to return again in the future.

The prices upped up a notch when you dined there. I felt humiliated when the waiter corrected me. The employees seemed very busy with very little actual things to do. The spices were fine.

We had a family meal with another family and all our kids, some of whom aren’t overly keen on Indian cuisine. Despite this, they catered for them really well. All the food we had was really nice and the service was fantastic. It was my birthday celebration and they gave me a free drink and dessert which I found very nice. The kids liked all the colourful water features and illuminated menus and they were treated to free ice creams as well. Overall, a very nice place to eat with delicious food and great service. I would highly recommend.

Brilliant restaurant - I have never had a bad meal in the place. The staff are always incredibly helpful and polite inside the restaurant. As a side note, we recently booked Spice Valley for our festival wedding. Arrived on time, still hot and the same high quality that we expected. Amazing - thank you so much!

Not bad, not great. I've had better curries to be honest. The service was decent. And the naan bread was a highlight.

Yesterday which was my 2nd visit, I requested a vegetable phall which had ghost chilis in it, not only is it the hottest phall I've ever had by far, it's also the most delicious with a nice selection of vegetables. The staff are very friendly. I will most definitely be returning again and most probably again and again lol.

Lacking a little atmosphere due to the time we visited, but that's only because it was early in the evening and was still quiet. Made to feel very welcome, the food and service was excellent, we all chose different meals and they were all extremely flavoursome and well presented. Certainly worth a revisit.

Had high hopes as recommended. I only eat korma so am quite a connoisseur of a good one. The service was good and attentive staff. I didn’t want to complain as it was so quiet , but the korma was white and just tasted of double cream. It had no taste other than cream and so I couldn’t eat much of it. It’s like they forgot to add anything other than cream, not even salt or any flavour at all. The naan was nice but the restaurant smelt of bleach which put me off abit too. Shame but I wouldn’t return as ambiance abit off too, abit canteen like and not very intimate

Probably the worst Indian meal I have ever had, started badly with flat bear, chutney not right, 8 of us out for the night, 5 had chicken, this was tough, dry and tasteless, I had a madras and the sauce was not at all good, another there dish looked it had yoghurt as a sauce. Service very slow, only one man doing any work and took for ever to clear the tables.

What a great restaurant! My fiancé and I went there for my birthday meal, and we were blown away by the food and the service. We were given great recommendations from the Specialities portion of their menu. We'll definitely be visiting again!

Went twice in the space of 3 days..can't recommend this spice valley enough. Lovely food and beautiful people will 100% be back again and again. Disappointed as compared to the reivews. Would not recommend for desi food enthusiasts. The korma was sweet, the meat was rubbery and the Naan was burnt from the bottom (albeit scraped before serving).

Husband and I had a delicious dinner of tandoori sea bass, chicken karahi and popadum. The service was impeccable and our host Abdul was welcoming and lovely to chat with. The food was so good and the restaurant is a delightful place for a meal. From the light up menu and wine bucket to the bubble wall, this is a great spot for a meal in Norwich.

Second visit, and second time we were both disappointed with the flavour of the curries. Nice people, just need more choice on menu and better flavour

We were warmly welcomed by friendly attentive staff. The restaurant was spacious and well designed. The menu had something for all tastes. The food itself was delicious and we didn't wait long for it to arrive. Mr Abdul Rehman is a generous host who treated us to an Indian sweet, which was my childhood favourite. I only mentioned it once and suddenly it arrived at our table! We will definitely return.

The food, service and restaurant were all brilliant! The waiters and staff here are so polite, welcoming, friendly, funny and relaxed that it instantly makes you feel settled and comfortable. Bloody awful experience, after waiting 1.3hours for our food and being told its 5 mins ever time we asked my food turned out 20 mins later. my food was pretty average. My 2 friends had ordered chicken tikka and got hot sauce but the chicken was cold! And raw! Then when they walked out it, the manager tried to charge me and a friend 120.00 even though my meal was only 20.00 and his was 40.00, there was a argument about this to the point the server put his hands around my throat infront of more than 15 customers at the bar!! Extremely shocked! Would give 0 stars if possible the customer service was Terrible !!! Never ever going back!

Food was just delivered and both our currys had opened in the bag on route ruining all our food. I called to ask for another order to be redelivered. Got handed to the owner who said he'd 'call me back in a few minutes'. Called back to ask for an update and was met with a loud, confrontational person on the phone accusing me of calling him 'a bad person' and that I was making a problem. I said to calm down and not raise his voice, to which he responded in a very childish manner saying I was being 'angry' and kept repeating 'but am I right'. Very awful customer service and uneeded confrontation over me asking a simple question of 'are we getting our food replaced'. Do yourself a favour, get from Ali Tandoori next door instead because they know how to treat customers.

We went there ad hoc and were more than pleasantly surprised at the service and standard of the food...I had a salmon curry and it was the best I have ever had....certainly deserves the 5* from us and will come again!

Amongst the many Indian restaurants available locally, Spice Valley is consistently good and our ‘go-to’. The staff are fabulous, food delicious and well priced.

Ordered and collected a takeaway last night. Easy to order by phone, Upon arrival staff all very friendly, Very clean inside the restaurant and bar area. We had. a large order and all the food was there nothing missing so highly impressed. We will return...

I can see why they’re up for curry awards, we are spoiled for choice in norwich. It is getting very expensive now for takeout, but the food is great, in particular the darma duck and the prawn purée.

Went out with a big group, staff were very attentive all the way through our time in the restaurant. Food was so delicious, I have ordered a takeaway from here and now I have visited the restaurant and I am not disappointed.
