After reading a few of the previous reviews on here regarding the service we were a little apprehensive. We need not have been. The staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. The 12 of us visited for a 40th birthday celebration. Everyone enjoyed their food. One of our party has special dietary needs and the waiter bent over backwards to meet these. Overall 10 out of 10 for service and food.

Family favourite restaurant. We eat in when we can and have take aways sometimes too. Sometimes a quiet family meal and sometimes with friends. Food is the best and we love the service. Thank you Team Spice.

Service was dreadful. Staff did not appear vaguely interested in serving customers. We were offered a poppodum which arrived relatively quickly but we had finished that before anyone appeared to take our food order - in fact we had to ask for someone to take order. Food took ages - a good 45 minute wait between starter and main course. Cleared our table and gave us dessert menu then no one returned to take our order. Waiters seemed to actively avoid making eye contact. Eventually we had to go up to ask for bill and say we weren’t having dessert or coffee as no one had asked and all attempts to attract attention failed. Arrived at 7.15 and main not served until 9.26 Food was lovely but service completely ruined a night out

This restaurant had nice food, but we had a very long wait, and staff were not very friendly, not welcoming, considering there was 14, of us, so they would get a decent amount of money for their business. Will not go again, simply because they barely cracked a smile,

Food generally ok but the staff here are very rude and unpleasant, certainly not service with a smile. Doubt any of our party of 15 will be returning. Dreadful

Good food, a shame about the staff/service! Best ever Bombay Aloo and Naam Breads- both Keema and Garlic. The curry was average and a bit concerned by how much food colouring is used as everything was post box red! Bit alarming as try to avoid additives and processing chemicals as much as possible and this seems so unnecessary and I noticed it's been mentioned in other reviews. Unfortunately it is not a friendly place. Staff were quite sullen and unwelcoming. The only time they spoke was when trying to upsell. None of our party are drinkers, of either alcohol or sugary beverages so we only wanted water - don't think they like that very much but as it was virtually empty so we weren't using up a table where they could get more higher paying people in. We still spent nearly £90 anyway so much better than an empty table. They seemed a bit put out that we didn't want deserts or coffee either, couldn't really understand what the waiter was saying most of the time but heard him mention liqueurs several times at the end. Never been made to feel like this at any restaurant before. Was very slow to bring food out despite being virtually empty. 5 of us squashed on to a table of 4 that was vey difficult to fit all the plates on. Again, despite the place being empty as we were early diners. Slow to bring the bill, slow to come back for payment so we took it to the counter as couldn't wait any longer but they met us half way and expected to use the machine just standing in the middle of the restaurant with nothing to lean on whist trying to manage with bags and a walking aid. Ridiculous, so I just moved to the counter anyway as had enough of rude attitude by now. So service lets them down and I wouldn't recommend and I wouldn't return.

Back again for birthday celebrations they never seem to fail on amazing food and service! Highly recommended we have been to this restaurant many times and always coming back.

I really enjoyed my experience at spice of India, we attended a fundraising eve and the owners supported it . The food was great and extra’s were given. We were a multicultural crowd of 30 on a Monday eve. Thank you for your warm hospitality, compliments to the chef and very sophisticated environ et with best cutlery , as one friend commented.

This restaurant was very good. the atmosphere was very nice and the decor was nice too. we had quite a large party of 20 so i think they did very well considering this large party size. we were told we had to pay before we were seated but then when we arrived we were told this was not the case. also the drinks on the bar are cash only. we were seated quickly and waited for the rest of the party to arrive. we did have to wait quite a while to order from when we were seated but we were given the popadoms with dips while we were waiting. we then ordered the tuesday banquet deal 16.95. this was a little confusing as a few things i think needed to be updated with the prices as the window outside said 16 95, the leaflets inside said 14 95 and online it said 15 95. after the orders had been taken and everyone was still eating the starters, payments were being taken from everyone, which was quite unusual. the rest of the food came out in a very good time and was very delicious. i had the vegetable biryani with garlic nan bread which was very nice. the only thing to take into account is you don't get the tea or a side with this order. also you have to pay extra for prawns (check the sub charges upon arrival) overall a very nice meal and staff were friendly.

This restaurant using tag of india name doesn’t have no sense of Indian taste, should be renamed as spice of Bangladesh, not india, awful food, ordered chicken curry and there were mangoes inside, I don’t know which cuisine in india they add chunky mango in curry, ordered lamb rogan gosh which is very famous dish in india, it was way too too much spicy, a spoon of it feels like you are having a full spoon of red chillies in your mouth when complained about spiceness they said that’s how our chef make it, the answer is nice but chef is not making for himself, he has to take care of what sort of spiceness customer can handle, yes if someone wants more spicy he can ask for it. AVOID this restaurant, I don’t know why this restaurant is 4 star on reviews.

Our first visit drove all the way from Westbourne where curries have almost doubled in price. This restaurant wasn’t cheap either. Very good service. Had side portion aloo and side dhall both were very generous. Nice rice. Little bland for me not spicy enough. My partner had chicken dansak which he enjoyed. Chocolates with bill and offered a complimentary drink. Quite expensive. Nicely decorated restaurant a bit smarter than some in Winton where we’re going before but walked out as seemed a bit of a Dump. In fairness to winton they are not all as bad. Back to this one you feel like you have been out.

Arrived 6.30 only 5 of us service non existent really waiting over half hour for drinks every time was that bad only managed 2 bottles (and left at 9 ) food very disappointing no apologies senior member very rude asked for bill waited 30 mins no sign went to bar to pay stood there 10 mins before service then could not find bill so made one up I reckon well over priced Chicken well over cooked bone dry Will never visit again POOR POOR POOR 👎

Absolutely amazing. Ignore any moaning reviews. We’ve been twice recently, on a Saturday night and took the kids to a Tuesday banquet. The place was packed and everything was perfect. Staff are really attentive and the food was delicious you can’t fault it. Will return soon! X

Our first visit and it won’t be our last! We found staff to be very friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and there was a great atmosphere. It was busy without being over-crowded, a very enjoyable experience.

Always my go to for a takeawy curry and always exceeded expectations however tonight was lacking somewhat which was disappointing and unexpected.

Not impressed, won’t go again. Staff begrudge you I think. Not a happy place for a birthday. The food was bland no taste. Atmosphere non existent.

We were a party of three adults and two children, dining for the first time at this restaurant. I cannot fault anything about our wonderful meal. Everything was perfect from the cleanliness, atmosphere, quality of the food itself and the staff were exceptional. We were made to feel very special and we cannot wait to go back.

This is our top curry house and by far our favourite in the local area. We eat from here the majority of all our take away food and always enjoy the service and especially the food. They are very accommodating to small menu changes and friendly when we eat in. 5 stars and highly recommended.

We are regulars at the Spice of India and can honestly say it’s one of the best restaurants around. Staff are always super friendly and marvellous. Pedimos una comida para 6 personas desde aquí un sábado por la noche y en ese momento nos dijeron que serían unos 90 minutos. Intenté pagar con tarjeta por teléfono, pero me preguntaron si podíamos pagar en efectivo, lo cual nos pareció extraño en ese momento, pero dijimos que podíamos. Después de unos 90 minutos nos llamaron para comprobar que teníamos el dinero en efectivo para pagar, extraño, pero pensé que tal vez estaba en camino. Esperó otros 25 a 30 minutos y aún no llegó, así que llamamos. No mucho tiempo después apareció. Realmente es un mal servicio, ya que la mayoría de las veces he pedido comida para llevar de otros lugares, han superado el tiempo de entrega estimado y ha llegado antes. No me molestaría con ellos de nuevo, ya que hubiera preferido que fueran honestos sobre el tiempo de espera para que pudiéramos haber pedido desde otro lugar.

Así que esta fue nuestra primera visita y quedé impresionado. Vivimos a 5 minutos y nunca probamos este lugar hasta ahora. Así que reservé una mesa 2 días antes a través de Facebook y recibí la confirmación a través de este mensajero. Aparecimos y confirmamos la hora para que se les informara que no podían encontrar nuestra reserva, pero aún así nos permitieron ingresar, así que quedé muy impresionado con el enfoque sin problemas. El restaurante es muy limpio y elegante. Se pusieron muy ocupados rápidamente debido a la oferta de Comer fuera para ayudar. El personal fue muy atento y amable. La comida salió era agradable y caliente y abundante en comparación con otros restaurantes indios en los que hemos estado. Muy sabroso. Una vez terminados los platos principales, uno de los camareros preguntó cómo habíamos reservado nuestra mesa. Expliqué de nuevo para luego recibir una respuesta de "Le dije al miembro del personal de Facebook que no aceptara más reservas, he tenido que rechazar a otros debido al error". Esto no es culpa mía y trabajar en servicio al cliente tampoco es algo que le dirías a tus clientes. Te hace sentir que no eres bienvenido como tal. Al final del día, todavía recibiste un cliente, tu error y yo todavía comía. No hemos dejado que este camarero nos desanime, ya que se aseguró al salir de que volviéramos a reservar y vimos que esto se ingresó en el diario. Se asegurará de seguir usando hasta que suceda algo malo. Recomendaría.

Normalmente hacemos pedidos de Spice of India y lo hemos hecho durante mucho tiempo, años de hecho. Had a takeaway delivered last night which was way better than expected. Delicious Chicken Tikka Bombay and a Lamb Jalfrezi bursting with flavour and nice tender lamb unlike many other curry shops. Speedy delivery service. Just a shame they don't have offers like Indi's

Just had a takeaway delivered by a masked delivery man ( Coronavirus aware) He was polite and kept his social distance. The food was delivered at the time they estimated. We have never used the Spice of India before but were very impressed with the food. The portions are good, the meat ( lamb) was not dry or fatty. We had an aubergine side dish which was not oily but tasty. Nan bread was good too. All in all we were pleasantly surprised and after the COVID 19 malarky we will visit the restaurant..

Just had lunch there today. Meal was very well presented and the decor of the restaurant was quality. Mr Raj Nadim was courteous and hospitality along with his other staff members. Have been looking for an Indian restaurant which we really love and have now found one. Do not need to look anywhere else now. The food was delicious. Tried the chicken tikka Puri for a starter which I have never tried and it was full of flavour. The portions are very generous so will know for next time. Looking forward to our next visit. New dishes on the menu I am looking forward to trying. Great service.

The waiters were very good and tried their best. My friend had lamb tandori and complained about it. The manager said you have ordered it, if you want something different you have to pay for it. The manager did not handle the complaint at all, i swapped my tandori chicke with my freind lamb and yes some of it was not nice and bits of it were average.The main course was good and i would go back. It was the way the manager was arguing over it, that effected the meal.

Acabo de pedir comida para llevar a la familia y llegaba 30 minutos tarde, no es gran cosa, pero no es idealPedí un pollo tikka Pathia para mí, que es bastante caliente y dulce a un sabor agrio. . ¡No pruebes nada como una pathia más como una madra! ! Este restaurante ofrece la mejor comida india en Dorset. Las noches de banquetes ofrecen una buena relación calidad-precio con una comida de seis platos para menores de 15 años. La decoración, el ambiente y el personal amable y acogedor complementan la experiencia gastronómica. No puedo alabar este restaurante lo suficiente. Volveremos de forma regular.

We wanted to try this restaurant as someone said it was nice , it was ok but would not return , food was nice but staff was very cold there was no atmosphere in the restaurant, and over priced , there are better Indian restaurants .

Visité este restaurante para el cumpleaños de un amigo un sábado por la noche. Estaba bastante ocupado pero no excepcionalmente ocupado para una noche de sábado. La primera impresión del restaurante fue que era muy agradable por dentro y bastante impresionante. Nos sentamos a la mesa a las 7:30 pm y tomamos bebidas y poppadums, sin embargo, esperamos más de una hora para que nos atendieran y pensamos que nos habían olvidado. Cuando finalmente se tomó nuestro pedido, esperamos otros 45 minutos a una hora para la comida y realmente no me gustó comerla al final y casi olvidé lo que pedí. La actitud de algunos de los camareros también tenía mucho que desear, no tan cortés.

Así que un grupo de nosotros decidimos ir aquí para una comida ya que hemos escuchado buenas críticas de la comida. Bueno, no estaban equivocados, la comida era increíble cuando finalmente la conseguiste. Nos sentamos a las 7 y media y tuvimos poppadoms bastante rápido. Teníamos que seguir preguntándoles si iban a tomar nuestro pedido de comida y cuando finalmente lo hicieron, no obtuvimos nuestra comida durante más de una hora. Era un sábado por la noche y estaba ocupado pero no demasiado ocupado que no deberían ser capaces de manejar. El servicio fue realmente lento y no hubo prisa en nada de lo que hicieron. No volvería apresuradamente aquí pronto.

Se tomó en minutos de llegada a la mesa reservada. El personal fue muy atento. La comida estaba en el clavo. Llevamos a otra pareja que no había visitado antes, quedaron impresionados por lo que demuestra que la actitud del camarero puede hacer o deshacer una visita. . Ya hemos reservado nuestra próxima visita.

Went for the 2nd time last night with family and friends. Again not disappointed. The service was brilliant and although we probably waited 30 minutes for our meal it was to be expected as the chef had several different meals to cook.

In spite of confirmed booking had to wait 40 mins for our table. Waiter was moaning about lack of staff .. he took our order without any comment but acted as though we were annoying him for being there.. it took over 1.5 hours for the main course to arrive which came out on cold plates & the serving bowls were dripping with curry sauce which had been spilt in the kitchen.. They were laid down with a bang & again no conversation.. It was embarrassing & in fact we were at the point of walking out. One of our party had asked the manager ? why the delay & was curtly told " thats how it is " whatever that means.. on the way out the n ext table nodded & asked if we had had any problems as they had been rudely treated ,they also said the women on the next table had also felt very uncomfortable with a rude waiter.

Visited this restaurant and the food was awful, I was sick in the restaurant toilet & when I got home I couldn’t get off the toilet, they we’re clearly using last weeks food & BCP council hygiene department need to urgently pay a visit. Will never visit again absolutely vile.

Reservamos el viernes por la noche tarde y me sorprendió conseguir una mesa para la noche siguiente, que era un sábado por la noche. Llegamos al bar, para decir que habíamos llegado y nos mostraron nuestra mesa en la parte delantera del restaurante. Era ruidoso, pero había un buen ambiente con la gente, a pesar de que había dos fiestas cerca de nosotros y tenían cumpleaños, a las que todos se unieron con un feliz cumpleaños para las fiestas. Comí un delicioso curry de madras y arroz de verduras con helado de copos cubierto con salsa de chocolate, que era muy sabroso y delicioso. Solía visitar el Spice of India cuando estaban en Kinson Road Wallisdown, hace 10 años, y todavía sirven buenas porciones de comida. El restaurante es mucho más grande que el de Wallisdown. Tienen una rampa que baja al área del baño y tienen caballeros, señoras y baños discapacitados. El personal era muy amable y el servicio era bueno, aparte de esperar a lo largo del tiempo para nuestra comida, sin embargo, el restaurante estaba lleno y hicieron un buen trabajo. Nice Restaurant y espero volver en el futuro o incluso conseguir comida para llevar de Spice of India, ya que son mi restaurante local de comida india en Kinson, ya que vivo cerca de Kinson.

Visited here for a meal and had booked a table. Arrived on time but told in a blunt way sit there and pointed to a takeaway waiting area as were other parties who had booked. There was no meet and greet involved or offer of a drink whilst waiting or any dialogue to say we are preparing the table. When shown to the table after approx 10 minutes the waiter brought over drinks we ordered and it was sometime before he returned to take the order for the meal. When it came it was placed on the table without a word being spoken. The meal its self was an average Indian and reasonable size portions. When coming to leave I asked the waiter for the bill but after 20minutes of it not arriving decided to get up and pay at the bar. The restaurant had no atmosphere. The waiters need to go on a customer service course to understand what it is.

Called in here whilst passing on holiday in Bournemouth and was pleasantly surprised. Lovely decor, friendly staff, reasonable prices, food was great albeit a bit spicier than my usual dopiaza and karai. Would definitely recommend a visit.

No puedo felicitar a este lugar lo suficiente, el personal y el servicio son impecables, el establecimiento está decorado al más alto nivel y la limpieza del lugar fue sin duda la mejor que he visto en cualquier restaurante, incluso los baños estaban impecables, tenía la mayoría bhuna de buen gusto, incluso he comido y las samosas eran otra cosa que el chef tiene mi más alta consideración.

Have been to this restaurant twice now the food is amazing. The only problem is booking a table as each time we have phoned there has been a problem. I don't think they write anything down so each time they have had no record of our booking.It is such a shame because once you get in there the food and the place itself are amazing. They need to sort this problem out as it must put people off booking.

Queríamos probar el nuevo restaurante, ya que se habían mudado a las nuevas instalaciones. El restaurante se veía muy bonito moderno y acogedor. Desafortunadamente, el personal parecía acosado y nos llevó un tiempo llamar la atención de alguien para pedir una mesa. No hemos reservado, pero nos ofrecen una mesa siempre y cuando la desocupemos a las 8. 30 hs. El personal parecía indiferente y no estaba muy bien entrenado con un camarero cuando se retiraba, se paró, raspó y amontonó nuestros platos en la mesa mientras deteníamos nuestra conversación. Sin embargo, la comida era muy buena mi marido disfrutó el cordero salteado. Las raciones eran generosas. Tuvimos una buena comida, el servicio fue un poco impredecible.

It was my wife’s 40th Birthday and so i arranged to take a party of 30 people for dinner at the restaurant. I organised the whole event with the manager in detail. He was a pleasure to deal with and between us came up with a plan for the evening. I am absolutely thrilled and cannot say how well the resteraunt dealt with the large group. There was not a single complaint or anything i would of changed. The food was fantastic and the service along with the price was second to none.

He comido en el antiguo sitio de este restaurante unas cuantas veces con mis abuelos, y siempre fue una buena comida. Ahora, la comida es igual de buena, si no mejor, con un lugar muy mejorado. Tiene una sensación abierta muy agradable, con un menú tan variado y confiable como antes. Sin embargo, lo que más destaca es la tranquilidad que el personal crea para los clientes leales. Mis abuelos han estado yendo a este restaurante por más de 10 años, y siempre son reconocidos y recibidos con una sonrisa. También preparan platos para ellos que no están en el menú y ofrecen licores de cortesía, un toque realmente agradable. Tengo la sensación de que también iré a este lugar durante muchos años.

We were in a party of 10 booked for 8.30. It was obvious that things were very busy so we didn't expect service to be quick, but we were shown to our table on time and orders taken quite quickly.

Second visit in 2 weeks . Pleasant staff & well presented food which cannot fault . Quality appears to be above average without silly prices .

My husband and I ordered a takeaway on Saturday 2nd feb as we have a month old baby and getting out is obviously much harder now.

Went there last nite the manager so fouled mouth and asked u s to leave wen we paid for or food appalled how we were treated !!!!!! And food was file never will try it again

Given that the Spice of India had opened just around the corner we thought that we should support a local restaurant. We went on Tuesday Banquet Night and the restaurant was about 33% full. The food was very good, plentiful, well cooked and presented. The first couple of courses went fine but the service seemed to fall apart in the later half of the meal. A desert menu was brought but nobody came over to take an order. Coffee or Tea was included but we gave up on that too as nobody bothered ask. OK, we know that we could have chased for service but this is what we would expect to do. I notice that there are one or two other similar comments on this site.

So happy Spice of India has opened in Kinson. Visited when in Wallisdown and food was great but now it's in walking distance I am going to be a regular. Great food, wonderful staff. It was busy tonight which is great for them and for Kinson. Still great food and attention. We will be back

The ambiance of this retaurant is great. The food was fantastic. The service was ABISMAL. It's great to have a smart restaurant in Kinson(not a take away) I hope they sort themself's out soon. Perhaps they need more staff ?

This Indian restaurant has improved steadily over resent years

Took a long time to find such great food in the Bournemouth/Poole/Wimborne region so after discovering Spice of India, several years ago, we have stayed loyal and been regular customers every 2-3 weeks for deliveries mainly. Consistently good food and service. Fully recommend.

This was the first time we had been to the new venue of the Spice of India. We had been to the old venue in Kinson Rd several times and had always found both the food and service very good. However, on this occasion, we found the staff less than efficient and quite unfriendly and officious. When after waiting for quite a while order more drinks, and asking one of the staff for drinks, we were told we had to wait for our waiter. To top it all, when at the end of the evening a friend went to get his coat from the area shown by one of the staff, he was told very rudely by another member of staff not ‘to go that area again’.

New restaurent, recently opened, and just round the corner from us. Our first visit couldn't have been better - friendly welcome, efficient service and great ambience.

Primera vez en este restaurante La decoración está cansada y la iluminación es pobre, en la medida en que tuve problemas para leer el menú. Al haber reservado una cena, nos sentamos con tanta poca luz que nosotros y otras mesas estábamos usando antorchas para teléfonos móviles para leer el menú. El curry era normal, nada especial.

Great restaurant with very attentive happy staff. Decided to have the chicken shaslik. Was amazed how generous the portions were, and the food was very tasty. The house red was not the best, but ok. Will definitely go back and visit again.

I love this place especially the Tues night Banquet deal, lovely dips with the poppadoms, my favourite the Chicken Dansak is Awsome, staff very professional and attentive

I always get a really good Curry from here. I cannot remember ever having a bad meal. Food always arrives hot. Highly recommended
