The restaurant was empty when we arrived at about 7:30pm, the décor is pretty basic and the crockery looks like it came second hand from a Chinese restaurant but we received a friendly welcome. The menu has all the usual favourites and a new one for me: chicken razella, a hot and spicy disk with green peppers and green chilis, which was delicious. My wife had the shashlik chicken, which was suitably sizzling and tasty. Service was quick and friendly and prices were much less than we're used to in Aberdeen, Scotland.

We ordered from here a couple of nights ago as we fancied a curry for our evening meal, I had the chicken curry with boiled rice and my hubby had the chicken tikka masala with boiled rice. I also had the garlic naan and we shared some poppadoms and chutney. We really enjoyed our meal but thought it could have been a bit hotter as it was just warm and we only live a couple of minutes from the shop but had it delivered. One thing to note is if you order it online from their website and have it delivered they only accept cash .

Apparently i cant give zero dots, or i would. Food was bland and tasteless. Chicken tikka had no flavour to it at all. Chicken tikka dopiaza is supposed to be creamy, it was like water. Naan bread was undercooked and raw in the middle. As for service, the chap was rude in his manners, snatching plates away before we were finished as a family. Felt very unwelcoming and like we were a n inconvenience. I also noted that whilst he was taking someone else's order, he stopped to answer the phone. Clearly, take aways are far more important than the people sat in front of him. My advice ? Go to Beccles, or Harleston, Norwich, or Lowestoft, anywhere but this place !!!

We ordered from here because the Harleston Indian was closed. The food was quite tasty but not outstanding. Naans were very rubbery, not at all freshly made, probably a result of overlong storage in their bags. The best thing was the very reasonable price.

Food was terrible, dips watered down, korma and curry sauce meal both consistency of gravy and inedible and yogurt curdled. We ordered a take away from this restaurant and my hopes were not high having had many from other restaurants in the past . How wrong I was . The meal was quite exceptional . Everything was so fresh , so well cooked and with tasty sauces it was hard to fault any dish. Even the rice was amazing and the chicken melted in the mouth. This food had been cooked with care. The people of Bungay ( which I was visiting ) are very very lucky . I live in London and have never had an Indian of such a high standard

Their website, dated 2021 (so only two days old at the time of writing the original review!) says; Free Home Delivery in Bungay and Surrounding areas. Free home delivery in a radius of 5 miles from NR34 1AX. Outside this area we will deliver to a radius of 10 miles for £5 Note the word "radius". I am 4.3 miles radius, 5.6 by road according to Google Maps. Nonetheless they tried to add a delivery charge and argued that I was apparently 8 miles away! No, radius is what it says!" You're still 8 miles away...This circular argument went around three times before I gave up. I am 5.6 miles away by road. I can't even see how any viable route is possible at 8 miles! The person I spoke to seemed surprised that the website said 5 miles and promised to change it (he spoke of "his" website so I wasn't talking to an employee)... yet there is another identical complaint elsewhere from a review 3 years ago. Someone's putting one thing in a website and saying/meaning something quite different which I call misrepresentation. This was three weeks ago and I have just cut and pasted the delivery details above from that website, so he still hasn't changed it despite apparently reporting me for hateful, threatening or prejudiced language in my review!!! If they haven't the decency to honour what they publish in their website and then treat me like an idiot by trying to fib about something as fixed and factual as distance away - as if I don't know how far away I am... which is deeply offensive and patronising - then they get a well desreved negative review for false statements on their website, trying to mislead a customer about distance, deep disrespect by insulting a customer's intellighence and quibbling over the meaning of radius and now, in this amended review, I'll add for failing to remove the allegedly incorrect detail on their website as promised. Accusing me of threats, hateful language or prejudice because they get a well deserved bad review is a low blow and quite disgraceful. I trust I have made my experience of this business clear without any of the above accusations being levelled again.

Living opposite this restaurant we are lucky enough to sense the superb aromas emanating from the kitchens on a regular basis. We had another takeaway on Saturday evening which featured Fish Bhuna and Chicken Tikka Dopiaza as the main courses. They were both to die for and the portions are generous, so much so that my husband completed the meal this evening. We were really looking forward to a family dinner. Food came out warm so we had to ask for it to be reheated. Fine when it came back but it should most definitely should not have needed reheating! We were the only diners in but there was a group of lads and a girl socialising in the takeaway bit. The staff were more interested in socialising than looking after their diners. They were all very loud and their topic of conversation was not suitable for my 7 year old grandson. The staff should not have let this happen. We did complain to them but they really were not bothered. We left feeling we had spoilt their party! ...disgraceful way to run a restaurant. We most definitely won't return.

Today my son and I visited. Our mission was to hear or see the chicken fillets mentioned in the previous review. Sadly we were out of luck. Not a fillet in sight. Our concentration was interested slightly by a lone gentleman entering the restaurant on a disability scooter. He tried a U turn by my table and stated he wouldn't get too close? Within seconds at full speed he and his magnificent scooter ploughed into me as I consumed my meat masala. I was jolted and forced towards the nearest window. The driver immediately apologized.. with my free had I pushed the menacing scooter away and asked the gentleman if he'd been drinking. He replied .. no, not yet. I suggested he start asap. My son and I burst into fits of laughter. You had to be there! The food, service and staff are quality. We love it.

The food when came back reheated was ok, but they really need to decide if they what this as a take away, restaurant or social club, or nite club.We were the only diners in restaurant (6) but was a group of youngster at bar area drinking using it as a social club, we had to endure a young girl telling her group of young guys about how she puts her chicken fillets in when she wears her orange jumpsuit, very off putting when eating your meal.Would I recommend this restaurant, no I wouldnt, shame .

Our first visit to the restaurant. Its a typical style for this sort of establishment with Indian music playing in the background. We both had a starter, my wife had a prawn cocktail. I went for a mixed tikka with an onion barjee. All spiced and cooked nicely. For mains my wife had a chicken korma, plain pilau and plain naan. I had chilli lamb shank, mushroom pilau and a garlic nann. The lamb was beautifully cooked and fell off the bone. I really enjoyed it as did my wife her korma. We both had two drinks and poppadoms with a pickle tray. Came to abot £55 which I think was a fair price. I would eat here again.

Phoned up to order chicken korai and naga, without menu in front of me (website has no info and we didn’t have a menu). Informed that No delivery driver available so had to pick up. Paid in advance over the phone to ensure quick pick up, in/out, so could tuck into food ASAP. My partners korai was described as non-descript and monotone, not horrible, just not exciting. Something that could be knocked up by us quickly during the week for us and our 3 year old to enjoy. I had the naga which had plenty of heat and was pleasant enough, although very greasy/oily as can happen at some Indian places. The sag aloo was again acceptable. I would give mine 5.5 out of 10, it ticking a takeaway box on a Saturday night and my partner ranked hers 4 out of 10. After finishing, I looked at the menu and couldn’t work out how we were charged what we were. On phoning the restaurant, turns out we were charged for using the card over the phone, something I wasn’t told about when Paying Over the phone. Even taking into account this charge, I had still been overcharged. When I queried Further I was rather nonchalantly told that a mistake had happened and we could go in the restaurant to get a refund. In essence, it was a Saturday and as he stated to me, he had to answer the phone to take orders. It’s such a shame that there is no genuine competition for this place. Having tried a lot of the local Indians, I think the best localish one is in Harleston. If going for a sit-down, suggest making the effort and going there as we do. If ordering take-away, maybe pay the extra for Beccles or opt for different cuisine.

We both quite like Indian food and have visited good, bad and indifferent Asian restaurants all across the UK. Here, we both agree, we had undoubtedly the worst meal we've ever endured in any restaurant.Quickly seated by friendly if distracted staff, we waited twenty minutes to order. The food arrived half an hour later - unfortunately, it was someone else's; our own was delivered after a further 15 minutes. It looked uninspiring - bland and pasty with an absolute minimum of ingredients and spices. A couple of mouthfuls confirmed that opinion so, disappointed and with a bad taste to remind us, we paid and left.I find it hard to believe that any establishment serving food of such an appalling standard can stay in business, although a couple of locals told us later that their takeaways are very good cold the following day, if one has a bad hangover.

Last night was my first visit to this restaurant.I was seated fairly quickly, I was one of the first of the party to arrive - I did ask of we had a table booked (I couldn't remember) and the waiter didn't know either but there were loads of seats avaliable so it didn't really matter.I wasn't offered a drink or a menu till the rest of the party arrived which I found a little annoying as I could have done with the menu to look at whilst waiting. When everyone did arrive we were offered poppadoms to munch on and we had our drinks orders taken. Our drinks took a little while to arrive and not all of them arrived at the same time I feel like the waiter forgot some of them. For the food I ordered the prawn korma (I don't do massively spicy food) and chips. My korma was nice, wasn't too hot and had all the right flavours, was just a little watery for me personally, but it was really nice. The chips were awesome and I got loads of them so I was super chuffed with those. Our party managed to have our meeting and we weren't nagged to leave quickly after finishing our meal or anything so that was really good as we we quite some time after our meal there. Over all I would come back again, sad I didn't get a dessert haha, wasn't offered any (though I'm not sure if they do them!). It was al reasonably priced too, my meal came to just under £10 (korma, chips and lemonade) so that's a really good price.Staff were polite so I was happy with that.

Once the food arrived I couldn't wait to tuck in the smell and aroma of the food made my mouth water, the food was amazing absolutely speechless it blew me away and I had to leave a really good tip.

I've never eaten in here so can only comment on the take away. We've found the food to be consistently good. The guys working here don't seem the happiest of chaps, but who area when you're only paying a bill and picking up food to go. Also they will make off menu dishes if you ask. Worth a try.

I've lived in the area for 5 years and eaten here on at least 20 occasions as well as had numerous take aways. Standard prices are reasonable and the Thursday/Sunday special options are exceptional value. With one solitary exception the food has always been excellent. Some of the spicier dishes do tend to be hotter than most other restaurants (such as the Jalfrezi), so take this into consideration when ordering if you don't like it too hot (or tell the waiter to make it slightly milder). However, I do think they are probably made closer to the authentic recipes rather than dumbed down for British clientele. My wife is a big korma fan though and we haven't been anywhere else that does a better one in her opinion. Interior is a traditional decor and looking a little dated, but I go to Indian restaurants for a good curry & know I'll get one here.

I was shocked to see the bad reviews. We've tried all the Indians in the area and this is definitely the best for quality of food. We occassionally eat in and have experienced slow service once or twice, but if so they are always nice about it and offer a free round of drinks if things aren't up to spec.

Nicest Indian meal for a long time and very reasonably priced too. Service prompt and courteous. Chicken korma portion was more than I could eat and the naan bread very tasty and fluffier than most I've had. My fellow diner enjoyed her vegetable dansak and pilau rice - all that and 2 soft drinks was £21.65. The staff provided free poppodums and a free starter for us to try. they were keen to know if we enjoyed our meal and what we thought of the standard. Judging by the number of other diners who were on first name terms with the staff, I would say they get a lot of regulars. Not a bad number of covers for a Monday night either. Couldn't disagree with previous posters more and I'm very fussy.

We go here sober, tipsy, drunk and we haven't had a bad meal in the 4 years that we have been using this as our take away and eat in Indian. Having lived in Manchester for 7 years this place is the only one around here that we feel is of the same standard of the curry houses we used to frequent.Go there and enjoy!

Having failed to get a meal at a pub in a nearby village we went to the Spice of Balti. 1½ years ago we ate well there, served and entertained by the proprietor.Today we both had the £11.95 Sunday Special; poppadums and pickles, onion bahji or samosa, chicken korma, curry or madras, vegetable curry or bombay aloo, plus a naan. The food was hot and plentiful, if a little ordinary, and we took home sufficient for another meal. The service was adequate but delivered without warmth. The menu and atmosphere reminded us of Indian restaurants in the '60s and '70s. We might return, we might not.

Very our service, table not laid properly and had to ask for side plates and serviettes. We were still enjoying the pickle tray when the waiter came and just served the main course, taking the pickles away. I have had jalfrezi curries many times before but nothing as hot as this! Wouldn't go back the whole experience was bad and not to be repeated!

Was excited to go for a meal here with my friends from work as 'Sunday special' sounds rather good...perhaps don't expect too much if they do a full Indian meal for £11.95! but we thought we would give it a go! The problem started as we sat down...we weren't shown to our table, the stuffy young lad at front of house just merely pointed us in the direction of the table. he asked us then what we would like to drink..my other friends decided they wanted cola rather quickly so was left deciding..rather than holding him up any longer i asked if he would deliver my friends drinks while i decided...when he returned with three colas and placed one for me i was a bit shocked...i don't remember ordering a drink! Then out came the poppadoms with pickles and sauces..was still obviously nibbling them when he just took them away! The starter had already been and gone by then, was ok..actually was probably the best bit! The food was ok...nothing to write home about but will definitely not be returning due to the lack of customer care! Even a smile would've been nice! Was pleased to leave and i think he was pleased to see us leave! Not a good overall experience would not recommend!

It’s over 4 years I order from India Gate and it’s always great! I always get my food delivered or I collect I’ve actually never sat down but I always see the place very busy. The vegetarian food is amazing, the food always arrive piping hot and I can pay by card at the delivery I love it. My favorite take away in beccles!

We were recommended to visit the Green Dragon pub from a close friend, as we were staying at the campsite in Bungay and only a short walk away. I liked the character of the pub inside, although that was as far as it goes. We had some drinks and food and were pretty let down, after hearing good things. The salt and pepper chips were swimming in grease and were almost indelible. Most of the menu items were unavailable at 5pm (chicken tenders, all the rolls, steak etc). The chicken wings were also of poor quality, containing lots of blackened meat. Although perhaps i am being overly critical it is pub grub after all.. As a whole the staff were fine, especially the young lady at the bar, whose name I didn’t catch. She helped us in sorting a refund, as we were incorrectly charged for some items. To summarise, i’d visit again for the character and drink, although i would definitely avoid the food.
