Spice N Ice Restaurant in Croydon

Though Spice & Ice is 5 mins away from my home, I never placed an order bcoz of the unreasonable price on the menu, this time for a change I decided to place an order and I ordered Chicken Fried Rice and Chilli Chicken but the food definitely not worth the price. Just Okay!

Yummy food, generous portions and staff is sooo good.

Wow what a hidden gem! Been going to this place since 2019 and it’s our go to place when we want a guaranteed flavoursome and peaceful meal.. all their starters and mains are unique and delicious .. their butter chicken is the best I’ve had!!

Nice Indian food. The quantity could be a little more but can't complain when compared to the taste. Parking is a bit of a challenge because they have very limited parking with narrow spaces but I would definitely recommend this place to have indian food.

What used to be a favourite restaurant in South Croydon is now no longer worth it. Unsure if it is a change in staff or the quality is not checked before coming out of the kitchen. It used to be a go to place for Roomali roti. This time the roti was made of Maida instead of Atta and wasn’t fresh. The manchow soup was also very disappointing. I am going to stop now as I usually don’t review when the food is bad. Unfortunately, never again.

I went with my family and the food was out of this world. There's a choice of Indian or Chinese cuisine, a great choice of alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks. My 4 year old granddaughter was given her own Disney plate and cutlery which was a lovely and thoughtful touch. It was very quiet that day but it was late afternoon.

Amazing food! Lots of Vegetarian options

This is the real Indo Chinese cooking with the generous amount of ginger and garlic and thick cornflour gravies in everything. Great place for vegetarians. The vegetable tempura was excellent, light, flavourful and not oily. I wouldn't recommend the cheese and peanuts, that tastes more like cubes of amul cheese inserted in masala peanuts. The north Indian food like daal and paneer is alright, although we found it too hot, ended up eating it more like pickle than the main dish. Stick with the Chinese food items on the menu, they are really satisfying. The ambience is a little dingy, designed more like a party hall and we are not big on the colourful neon lighting. Maybe small spotlights on tables could fix that.

Rude, Terrible, ignorance service, once they take your order & leave food on the table never ask you if you would like something else, I only recommend if you have too much money & like to waste your money then this is the only place in UK

I've had the pleasure of dining at Spice N Ice Restaurant in CROYDON, and it truly stands out as the best Indian-Chinese fusion eatery in the area. From their mouthwatering curries to the impeccable ambiance, every visit feels special. Though we moved out of Croydon 10 years ago, the allure of their delicious food keeps drawing us back. Every trip back to the area is always accompanied by the excitement of another meal at this gem. Highly recommended!

Excellent indo Chinese food as good as anywhere in London. The soya tikka, kung pao potatoes and okra are exquisite

Food was disappointing. Chinese food had peas in it which is so frustrating as an Indian who has grown up in Mumbai. Manchurian was uncooked from the inside probably due to its large size.

Great food with a wide selection of Chinese and Indian dishes. Wonderful flavours and all halal. One of our favourite restaurants. Fave dishes are shredded beef, calamari and the crispy duck. Good service - friendly but also efficient. Atmosphere is nice and family-oriented.

Rude staff / owner. Told a child off directly which I don't think is appropriate. The child touched the flower vase on the table. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it.

The food is excellent here. Very tasty and brings back memories from Indo Chinese restaurants from India. The staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend.

The food is average Indian food, I am sure some reviews are great because there are no Indian sit down restaurants in Croydon! Believe me the food is average and OVER priced! The service is the biggest joke! The husband and wife operation who think it’s ok for the customers to be not happy and it’s ok for customers to wait a long time for food and have your food come randomly, no structure like professional restaurant where all family starter come together and all mains come together. The worst part is when you ask them to exclude the service charge from the bill, this is NOT acceptable and you will get asked loads of questions as if you’ve done something wrong! 1st ever negative review I’ve ever written, but just feel it was needed.

It was all ice , there was no spice . Very very disappointed with the taste of the food, even common dishes like dal makhani, malai kofta and panner tikka was so tasteless. Do not expect this from an indian restaurant. Such a waste of money( overly priced) and time .

Visited this place over the weekend. The portion sizes are small, taste is just about ok for the prices and main vegetarian dishes are overpriced as the markup might be insane considering what it costs to make. We ordered the channa masala which was £10.95 and served under seasoned in a tiny pot. The naan was over cooked and crispy. The kung pao potatoes were quite nice. The paneer was under seasoned and we had 8 pieces of paneer. Indian food is designed to share but these portions were for individual sizes only. To make matters worse, we were overcharged on the total price as we were busy talking and didn’t think of double checking the receipt. The old, fat dude who appears to be the manager clearly knew what he was doing. I wouldn’t recommend this plxfr to anyone.

Amazing food, super attentive service, atmosphere this time not as good coz there were only3 tables with customers. There wasn't the usual buzz which may be as it was post Xmas! It suited us though... due to risk of CoVid/ Flu and the fact that we could hear each other talking without having to shout 😁😎 Ps - they also have a function room and the restaurant is located on the ground floor of a hotel.

Our organisation went here for our Christmas meal and it was a complete disaster. There was no customer serivce and no buffet considering it was suppose to be buffet style service. We waited on average 1.5 hours between courses and they made us wait nearly 2 hours for our starters from seating which was the cheapest items on the menu, factory packed, deep fried, cheap, tasteless rubbish.We were pretty much left alone in the large empty room while they fussed with their Asian clientele in their restaurant area. No Christmas decorations, no welcome, not even a Christmas cracker on the table a throughly awful place to have a Christmas celebration. When the main arrived it was placed in the corner of the room on two of the smallest tables and hardly enough food for 20 toddlers let alone 40 adults, some of which did not even eat. No one filled their plate as all were conscious for the next colleague. When we requested more food we were ignored and/or English was not understood. They received over £400 for our visit and we received less then £40 worth of food, overly priced bar stocked with the cheapest alcohol options served in premium bottles, that was not the indicated Smirnoff i was drinking but that new cheap option thats entered the UK recently for example. I would never recommend anyone to have any party here at any point of the year in case they treat / rob you the same too.

We came back from Mumbai after 12 years. Visited with relatives. Spice N Ice is a good Indo-chinese restaurant with South -Asian taste. Owners always around the bar. A family run restaurant, great location and ambience, staff services excellent, near and clean, plenty of vegetarian options.

Tasty authentic Indian food! Great service, good ambiance, tasty finger licking food! Try the crispy okra or Tai pai paneer! Manchou soups…..Its a great place for spicy indo Hakka food. Will keep visiting again and again!

Today I found in this place quality food, tasty and well presented.

Ginger chicken was way too spicy, had no taste of chicken or ginger whatsoever and came in a weird red sauce. Egg fried rice was yellow.

Been dining here for 18 years and am always impressed by the consistency. Pretty much always have a good experience. Love the starters most - chilli garlic mogo, butterfly prawns and chou chou cauliflower. The tandoori chops are good too!

We had a really enjoyable dinner here. Good choice of Chinese and Indian foods.

Car parking places is only for 5/6 & it's on very busy road, price is high, & chairs are Damaged.

Visited twice - for dinner and a birthday party, private room hire. I wasn't too impressed when I went for dinner. Slightly overpriced. The chicken mahkani was very mild and creamy, the lamb chops were good. But the sizzling prawn noodles were overcooked, chewy and didn't taste very fresh. We only had 1 bite and mentioned to the staff that we didn't like it, but nothing was done about it. Mocktail Pina colada was also more cream than pinapple. The sauces that came with the popadom were extremely watery and tasted like nothing I have ever tried before!! Looked like it had been diluted down! The food as the birthday party was better. The curries were much better than what I had ordered previously. They sorted out the sauces. Buffet selection, all the dishes were very good. Overall the Indian menu seems to be better than the Chinese menu. And the quality of the food can be variable depending on the day. The car parking is small, prob 6 cars max at a tight squeeze. Food is halal.

We will never go to this again very expensive and gutter quality. Small portions. Soft drinks is extremely pricey a jug of passion fruit juice was 17 quid its only syrup mixed with water. Plain papad 1.60 with but of onions ontop. 13 quid for 10 prawns that is a joke. On top they charged us 46 quid for service now that is a pee taking. Which was removed after complaining. MY HUMBLE REQUEST TO ALL PLEASE AVOID THIS RIPOFF PLACE

This place has gone downhill. Poor quality food, small portions and expensive for what is given. This place is shocking to say the least. They even have the nerve to charge a service charge and when asked for it to be taken off, the waitress had the nerve question us!!! Service is average and food came out at different times. My family will not be coming back here ever again. How on earth does this place which is not in central London justify: £17 for a jug of ready made passion fruit / £12 for a small plate of prawns / £12 for a small portion of chicken curry. Lamp chops were undersized. I understand the cost of items but they are ripping customers off. The management of this place is a discrace with mediocre food and high prices. Avoid at all costs.

Me and my family have been coming here for years. I came on NYE 2022 and they have significantly increased there prices. For many items, the portion size is now half of what it used to be. My favourite the masala fish curry is now 5 spoons and finished - for £13.95 that is ridiculous. When we raised this with the manager - an older lady, she dismissed our claim denied the potion has been changed. The worst experience we have ever had here and we will not be returning. It’s a shame because my extended family also dine here often and I will be passing on the message to them - utterly disappointed.

My whole family's go to restaurant in Croydon for the last 14 years. There has not been a single month where we don't end up either ordering take away or dining in. Spice N Ice Indo Chinese food is one of the best I have tried so far and quality/taste is always consistent/finger licking good. Service/staff is Great and Owners are always around behind the bar . Friendly , family run restaurant with great ambience to boot.Highly recommend Kung Pao Chicken, Lamb chops , lamb biriani , Tai Pai Chicken, Masala Mogo to name few of my all big time favourites. 5 star all around.

We visited yesterday in the back room for a family party. Food was delicious and service was great too. Was a little worried seeing previous reviews but pleasantly surprised. Will definitely return!

Made me hold for a very long time just to take an order over the phone. And wnat to rush me when taking the order. They need to have some telephone mannners Need to get more polite staff, or starting taking orders earlier, instead of forcing customers to order all at once

We had such a bad experience yesterday. Food was terrible It was almost like a night club too loud took a long time to serve extremely bad quality food. Service has gone down so much ! Rude lady on the phone too

I ordered food for collection for a family get together on Saturday 6th November 2021 at a total cost of £140! Having eaten at this venue on a number of occasions pre Covid and also ordered takeaways numerous times, the food has always been excellent. However the food we collected on Saturday was awful. We ordered keema peas, aloo methi and chicken methi and nan breads and was thoroughly disappointed. The food was bland and tasteless. The aloo methi tasted like the sauce used was from a jar. The other curry dishes had absolutely no spice. The nan breads were good which is why I've given this review 1 star. I will definitely not be going back to this establishment.

Please avoid this restaurant. Ordered 4 dishes and one didn't turn up. I called straight away to inform the manager but his reply was hilarious. He says he will check the camera and get back to me..what a plank !! He then goes on to say that it is my first order so its ok. I will never order from this restaurant. Rude manager and staff.. Oh forgot to say, the food was nothing special and way too overpriced.

Staff behaviour is shocking. Ordered items from Deliveroo. Had one item missing. Instead of sending over the item, the manager says he will look into the camera as the Deliveroo guy will have taken the item or may be I was fibbing. Wow, just wow!! What a response !! What kind of customer service is this in this day and age? Never ordering from these frauds again. oh forgot to say, the food was way too expensive and average at best.

Total garbage. Way too noisy. I found a hair in my food and then the manager says that it was prob my own hair. How rude.. I will never come here again.. Absolutely gobsmacked by the response and service from these cowboys. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !! TOO DEAR, There are better restaurants out there next to Croydon airport and in Wallington.

Went with family to enjoy the birthday meal at this restaurant with my kids. Service was shocking, the staff are rude and the food comes out cold. They seem to be busy serving online orders than looking after the customer inside. Manager seems rude as well and defensive when providing feedback. I am not going here anytime soon.

Spice N Ice is a good restaurant serving indo-chinese food. We had a good meal comprising of starters including mixed grilled platter (lamb chops, chicken tikka, shish kebab, fish tikka), tai pai prawns, chow chu calamari, chicken lollipops, garlic chilli mogo. Comparisons can be drawn with the Imperial Restaurant on the Purley Way, both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Went yesterday and food was good and service was good! However the orange juice was dreadful. Need a good drink with food and good quality orange juice can be found everywhere at reasonable cost!!!

The food is totally inconsistent last time we had it a month ago it was excellent and we had it yesterday and it was appalling the spiciness is not there the food was salty and to make it worse the price is getting more expensive but the quality is getting worse I dont understand how food can be do inconsistent I will not order from them again

Very very costly but not worthy...better go rio in Sutton.. u'll save more money and enjoy various foods there .. food was £60 and the miscellaneous tax was £55 it is incredible!! Other hotels need to learn how to loot money from customers

Call and place an order today @19:31. Told order would be ready for 9. My son got to restaurant to pick up food. Lots of people inside. Because of social distancing he called to see if ready. They said another 40 mins. He waited in car again Called again before going, told another half hour to wait so I said to cancel order. When I called restaurant a rude lady claimed she called me and left message. I said I received no message. Asked to tell me when she called. Apparently it was no my number. I said this was not good enough but she dismissed it and said I’ve cancelled so that’s fine. She’s busy and can’t talk and put phone down. Absolutely rude service from lady. Now they are not picking up my call.

I placed an order on NYE at 7pm, told it would be ready at 8:30pm, when I arrived to collect my order I was told it would be another 30min. I then rang again at 9pm. Once again I was told it would be another 30min. I finally got my order at 9:40pm. They should have been honest and said up front how long the order would take, I would have gone elsewhere however at that late on NYE I had no choice as well as 20 other people to continue queuing and waiting for the food. Heart broken my NYE was spoilt and my kids were left hungry for so long.

Ordered three starters and received only one pot of chatni , we have been ordering from this Resturant for years and I am surprised the quality of food has suddenly gone down so much. The chicken tikka was like rubber , malai chicken was rock solid and the kebab rolls were like you buy frozen one from local shop . Very dissatisfied.

Sorry guys, severely disappointed. Highly over priced (15£ for a Chef's special dum biryani) and I didn't find anything great in it. Boasts of I do Chinese but the starters quantity for the price is very less. Won't go again. That's it
