Spice Mafia in Trafford

I went to Urmston branch they took one hour to bring food and order the hot and sour soup it was full of ketchup and parrota was not cooked properly and curry is very worthless and there is a hair in soup . And won’t go back any more completely waste of money and also we wasted the food.

Long wait for food. Starter wasn't great but main was really good with large portions. Run out of milk on Saturday evening which is strange as this normally busy time for restaurant

Absolutely delicious food and very friendly staff excellent!

We went to the Urmston restaurant last night and found it a disaster, the food took ages to come out and when it did everybody’s came out at different times to the point that when we got our main meal only one out of four came out and he had finished it before we got ours there was a 30 minute gap between him getting his meal to us getting ours and that was even after we brought it to the attention of the manager!!!!! After all this you would have thought the manager would give some consideration re their bad service I don’t mean monetary wise but just an offer of a free drink would have sufficed. It goes without saying I would not recommend this restaurant or return to it.

I recently attended an event at Grand Kerala and had an exceptional experience. The service was excellent, and the authentic Kerala-style food was incredibly tasty. The ambiance was perfect, with a welcoming and friendly staff creating a warm and healthy environment. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy delicious food and great service.

Really poor experience today. Spice Mafia was our favourite Indian in Urmston. We visited the newly opened Grand Kerala that has taken its place and we won’t be returning. Poor service, cold food and we were pushed the most expensive dishes when asking for recommendations. To top it off, heavy metal music was being played in the restaurant! Please note, reviews from before May are spice mafia reviews, not grand kerala reviews.

We visited the Urmston branch. There was only one staff member who was taking orders, serving customers, doing everything. Apart from that, we could hear somebody shouting at the staff from the kitchen for being late for collecting food from the kitchen. This is really awful and creating stress for the staff. We ordered masala Dosa, which was soggy Fish mango curry was good.

There are no other Indian restaurants like this, you will not find typical Indian food here. This is authentic South Indian food you won't recognise anything on the menu, it was typical opening night stuff waiters not knowing the menu, no corkscrew for wine, flat beer, food interesting, will be back when they get there act together which they will.

Anybody know what happened to the previous owners? Have they gone elsewhere? We used to come here regularly and loved it. It was the best Indian food we have ever had. Absolutely gutted to find out it has changed hands. So if anyone knows where the original owners have gone, please let us know in reply….

We were introduced to the restaurant via Groupon and used to visit independently after that. Travelling from Bolton we enjoyed our occasional visits to Spice Mafia, finding the food and pricing very much to our liking. We visited on spec on the 20th May 2024 only to find the restaurant had changed name and management. The new name of the restaurant was Grand Kerala. The food we had was very nice. Unfortunately for our pockets all the prices were beyond our mid week on spec Indian meals.

Order today couple of hours back .The worst food and service ever seen . Gave wrong order delivery and price is too much for a below average biryani 🤮 never recommend or go back to this shop ever again . Not even gave refund for delivering wrong order neither compensation .

Good food and pretty good value for money.

Took the wife and kids for tea. Absolutely beautiful food. Definitely recommended. Update. Just come back. And had another curry with the Family. Loved it. Chicken tikka madras and massala chips for main. Lamb chops for starter washed down with a couple Stella's. Great music and atmosphere.

Not your typical indian restaurant more street food but standard curries available. The food is always delicious and flavoursome service excellent. Sunday to Thursday they have a set menu at a very reasonable price.

Lamb ribs are to die for, absolutely delicious. The gulag jamun and ice cream is also delicious. The tandoori chicken half was nice but far too hot. I really like the food here except a lot of dishes tend to be too hot for my taste buds.

First time we visited this well advertised place in Urmston. Well what can I say, but for some of the best Indian food Iv ever tasted, it was relatively quiet on a Friday night. Seated in very comfy chairs away from the hot air conditioning blowing, not sure what that was about, we ordered a selection of starters and mains. Too much food to comment on but it was fantastic. Hot, fresh, well cooked, unique and original in style and presentation. All four of us loved it. Four starters and mains plus drinks each with 25% discount.....£95. Unbelievable. Top class food at a price we didnt complain at. Please try this place next to Wetherspoons 5 mins walk off the train. It is far too good to miss out on. Amazing. Its going to be a regular for us eating a different dish each time. Enjoy. You will love it.

Last night was my first visit in spice mafia.. came for friends sons birthday party. Food was excellent and nice ambience good vibes definitely visiting again 👌

Best Indian restaurant in the area! And there are some great ones, but these guys take the award. Food is always fantastic (we get takeaway mainly but also eat in) and service great, with special shout out to the manager who is always lovely :) Each dish is different, flavoursome and definitely not simply a different coloured version of another. Dhal makhani is especially good! They are also incredible value.

Overall, Underwhelmed. Won’t go back! Liked : Samosa chaat is really good. 18 quid bottomless menu a great option if well executed. Alas, that wasn’t the case. Disliked: 1. Nimbu pani made from concentrate. It takes 20 seconds to squeeze fresh limes for better flavour. 2. Pani puri - needs more liquid as served in India. 3. The second course meat platter was absolutely over cooked, with some things burnt. Appreciate that more wings were sent out but the experience was ruined already. 4. Service : one order of pani puri didn’t arrive, servers didn’t seem to know what was what. Worse still, we sat 45 minutes waiting for the main course to be served. Naans weren’t served hot. Normally I’d have sent things back but having waited 45 minutes, decided not to. It’s also common courtesy to ask how your meal was when you get the bill. No such thing.

Great food and drinks. Didn't expect Indian music singer and Kareoke. Something different for new years eve. Service was excellent, couldn't have been more attentive. Very slight negative, my Korma was very spicy, but ate it. Only sell one alcohol free drink, lager. Problem parking, next time we will get a taxi. Enjoyable night.

Food was absolutely amazing , cooked to perfection , no grease on curries etc . Portion sizes are good and a main meal is plenty enough to share between two after a starter . Brilliant service from staff .

Our first time visiting spice mafia and the last Our order was taken quickly once we were seated but then waited 40 minutes for the starters which was some of the worst paneer we had ever had. Stale and dry and momos with no filling and cooked to a crisp We settled the bill, cancelled the mains and went home to order a takeaway

i went there with my family to celebrate my sister's birthday. The cuisine was excellent,  and the setting and design were wonderful! The staff was amiable and provided outstanding  guidance. Excellent experience all  around!

Pani Puri were so good. Expected them to be a bit battered as they're so delicate but they were perfect and really fresh and tasty. Great biryani and naan. Will order again for sure.

Went for a party with friends and family. The atmosphere was great and service was on point despite being full capacity. Food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their time there.

Placed a large order which took over 2 hours to arrive and when it did we got 1 bag of cold food and had to call to find out where the rest of the order was. It turned up in a separate delivery. Really disappointing service and attitude on the phone. People would need to by psychic to know to expect 2 deliveries with the starters in the second order!

Food is late, still has not arrived

This is a review about a takeaway meal ordered for our family. The order was late +the food quality was poor. It seemed as if the kitchen was unable to cope with the number of takeaway orders. The restaurant itself was fairly quiet. We had agreed to collect our order ourselves, and around the agreed time arrived at the restaurant to find that five or more delivery guys waiting for orders for their clients. Very few items were coming out of the kitchen. Staff seemed unable to cope with the number of orders. We felt sorry for the delivery guys whose livelihoods depend on being able to deliver their orders. The kitchen seemed to be cooking food but packaging of the orders was confused. The result was that our order was around 30 minutes late, but even then many delivery guys were still waiting. Organisation was very poor. This being said the restaurant did reduce the price because of the wait. However this didn't really make up for a delayed meal and poor quality food. The food quality was not as good as we have had before. None of the items met our expectations. As a result a lot of the food remained uneaten. We have eaten in this restaurant twice previously and have been very pleased with the new style of Indian street food, which we thought a great addition to Urmston's food offerings. However our experience of disorganised food preparation and disappointment with food quality means we are unlikely to go there again, at least for some time.

Second visit, chicken tikka starter and chicken jalfrezi with pilau rice and naan, washed down with a pint of Cobra and a glass of wine for the wife. Very tasty food, large portions, reasonably priced and excellent service from Bid.

Visited with my daughter who lives in Urmston on Sunday 24th September. The food, service and restaurant setting were excellent much better than a nearby restaurant we we visited last time! We will definitely be visiting again the next time we visit her 👍

Unique and scrummy food, wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. We visited recently whilst visiting the area and were blown away by the street food menu which also incorporates regular Indian restaurant menu options. Everything we tried had a really fresh tang, they clearly know their spices and use the best of ingredients to create something delicious and tasty. Even the chutneys served with poppadoms (which can often be lacklustre) were different and appetising. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

We come back again and again (2 to 3 times per month) and, every time, the food is outstanding. Tonight, we started with onion bhaji and broccoli salt and pepper, followed by king prawns jalfrezi and chicken tikka for mains. All dishes were delicious - fresh, perfectly prepared, and from quality ingredients. Won’t be long before we’re back again to enjoy the superb food and great service. You won’t find a better Indian restaurant anywhere!

Always the warmest of welcomes by polite well informed staff. The manager and his staff always will take the time to explain the ingredients of your dish, its history & the region it originated from. A true taste sensation with regard to food. Every dish is delicious and a pleasant change from the norm. Multi award winning food and for good reason.

This is definitely one of the best restaurants around. The food is always excellent, as are the cocktails! Service is exemplary - the staff and management are very friendly and helpful, creating a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Food was inedible, had one bite and had to spit it out. Will not be returning

Went today with a group of adults and 2 children one being a baby for a birthday meal, towards the end of the evening we noticed a man videoing the children at the table. When confronted he was deleting a picture of my 2 year old and when questioned why he had videos/ pictures of everyone from the second we entered the restrant to leaving he had pictures of my family(children) his words ‘ I like children, I take photo of your child’ when owner was informed all he could say was he doesn’t speak(proper) English and he wasn’t part of them until the waiter got involved and said that the man was his friend(guy taking pictures) owner just wanted us to leave and didn’t want us to inform the other family’s with children of this man taking photos of the children of them! The owner didn’t want to take any responsibility for what had happened and was willing to let him stay. We made the families aware of what he had been doing and made sure all pictures were deleted( we’re still stored in deleted photos at first, until we deleted them) owner just stood there the whole time saying he didn’t ask him to take pictures and doesn’t know him! Will never be returning to this place again, will never recommend it to anyone either. If you have children please be aware and I’m just glad that one of us seen what he was doing as he would of gone home with pictures of my son and niece.

The best Indian food in Urmston. Highly recommend! Food and service excellent as always. You will not be disappointed so go ahead and book a table :)

This is seriously one of the best restaurants in Manchester. If you want great, authentic Indian food this is the place to go. I’ve been lucky enough to travel to India a few times and think the food here even trumps anything I’ve had there. Staff can’t do enough for you either, keep up the great work Spice Mafia 👍👍👍👍

The restaurant itself is lovely and has a nice atmosphere.The staff were all very welcoming too which is definitely important. The Masala sauce and lamb chops were my fave, however some of the meats were a little too well done for my taste and some of the flavours didn't work with my palette unfortunately.

Myself and my wife decided to give it a try tonight and can honestly say it was amazing, unfortunately we didn't take any pictures. We had the the set menu as we wanted to try something new £19 each, you will not be disappointed you get that much we could not finish it. We then tried the shisha as it was on offer for £10. Normally it's spot on but had to throw out the lamb chops tonight, didn't taste right at all. That said it's the first time I've had a bad dish from here. Nehari style lamb shank is well worth seeking out.

I was planning a nice day on the beers with the lads and a curry in a beer garden to follow. I'd heard good whispers about spice mafia but noone I knew had actually gone because the name is a bit off-putting. It turned out to be a much higher class of place than I expected and all for the better. Place has a really nice vibe to it and a high end finish - especially the garden at the back. Food was stunning. We had a weekend special which was amazing poppadum and chutneys. Super fresh, just well done. Next was a course of mixed weird balls filled with different flavours which wasn't a massive hit with us but nice enough, the chickpea and chat Puri however were immense. Think we had about 8 rounds of it. Then next course came and my days-huge steaming mixed grill trays full of amazing tasting meats - served with a big bowl of rice, naans and two bowls of curry sauce. We focused on the meat and rightly so as it was too. We managed 2.5 platters between the 5 of us before we were defeated. Then the dreaded bill- turned out the special we were on was 19 quid per person. Unbelievable. Can't believe it's this good and not being raves about. Should be full every weekend by rights of the food alone let alone the friendly service! Go. Now.

I absolutely hate the food here.

1st time ordering from spice mafia and i was blown away with how tasy this curry was. I had the Rajasthani lamb Ragda with pilau rice and garlic naan. The lamb was so tender, the rice was perfect and the naan was light and fluffy and just delicious. Will 100% be recommending to my family and friends and will be returning again. Came here for the second time with family, after leaving utterly impressed by the food and service on my birthday in February. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Even the kitchen staff greet you. Prices are very reasonable, and the curries are irresistibly tasty....

Amazing food, cocktails and atmosphere it’s Indian street food the menu is unique. It’s our favourite place to go no wonder it’s won awards. The staff are friendly and it’s great value for money. Highly recommend visiting for date night or a night out with friends and family!

The mafia chicken starter was good, but the naan was terrible, straight out of a packet, heated up and then garlic butter spread on it. I could have got a better naan from Sainsburys.
