Took the work lads recently who aren’t from around here and they absolutely loved it. Said it was the best curry they’d had in ages. I quite often go here eaten in and take away. Always spot on.!

Been visiting essence for about 10 years. It started off in groups of 30+ for work social events but nowadays a small group of about 6 of us aim to go every month. The service has always been great, the staff get to know you and make you feel welcome every time. While all the food is great, I have to give a special mention to the Chicken Jhali Juli which is the nicest curry I have ever eaten. It’s hot but the flavour is beyond compare. Would recommend every time.

We decided to go for my birthday and take advantage of the seven course Sunday extravaganza and once again we were not disappointed. The chicken tikka jalfrezi was exceptional with the usual excellent service from Amin and the team.

Once again the number 1 hotspot for all you’re favourite curry’s etc. we eat there all the time whether sit in or take out. Great friendly banter with Amin, Sami and staff. Cannot fault it been coming here for years. Serves a great pint of Cobra!!

Been going to Essence for many years now & the food has always been great. Our vegetarian friends rave about the tandoori prawns (the best they've ever had!). The staff are always very courteous & service is great.

Best curry for miles around. They have a great selection of traditional and authentic curries with kid friendly selections. All the staff are welcoming and couldn't do more for us. Makes us go back time and time again.

When in England, have a proper curry! My wife and I absolutely loved this restaurant, really good food and the atmosphere is nice and the staff super friendly. I had the Lamb Vindaloo which was very good and proper spicy, while my wife had the Rogan Josh which she remarked was one of the best she ever had. We will definitely be back! 😃👍

Not been to Essence for a few years but having moved back to the area , time to give it another go. The food is exceptional , as is the service. Best Indian in the area for sure. Always assured of a warm welcome .

I came here having heard the hype about the place and I wasn’t disappointed. I ordered a takeaway over the phone (rather than dined in). We had a starter, 2 mains and a side. When I arrived the owner greeted me and had nice, friendly, small talk. He quickly bought out my order and offered me a free Cobra beer as it was my first visit. Nice little touch. The food was fresh, tasty and lived up to the hype. The resturaunt was full of atmosphere so next time I’ll be eating in. Highly recommend this place.

Pre theatre meal, so booked for 5.45pm. Not many there, so excellent service. Place chosen based on TA reviews, lovely meal, friendly & attentative staff; just short of £50 for 2 of us,with drinks, bit more than we pay at our local Indian restaurants, but average for Altrincham area. Recommended

Been many times it’s the best in the area, have liked other Indians in the past but this is by far the nicest food and great staff, the Sunday menu is really great as well, it is always fantastic value for money it’s one of the only places we eat in the area, and infact we’ve at times been sat in other restaurants we’ve booked for a change and cos of the wait service or other issues we’ve walked out and come to essence as it’s also perfect with lovely waiters and really nice owner we like to call a friend. Really looking forward to coming again, u always know Ud never have any complaints here,

The best atmosphere and most welcoming environment I’ve ever experienced in any restaurant, and the food is absolutely incredible! Amin is the loveliest host and makes you feel like a part of the Essence family. 10/10 would definitely recommend coming here. I've had many a take away from Essence but tonight was my first time eating in. Took the family for my birthday meal and it was all top notch. Excellent food, excellent service and very accommodating and welcoming to my two little kids too.

Awesome vegan options :) friendly and helpful staff. The vegan thali is so good- just wish they have a bit more rice though. You can order additional chapatis for around £3.

Very good Indian restaurant. My Makhani was very tasty and the saag paneer was a delight. The peshwari naan was thin and light. I loved it. Will definitely be back when I am next in Altrincham.

We had an amazing meal here. The food was delicious and presented fantastically. The service was very attentive but not overbearing. Can't believe it wasn't more busy, definitely don't miss this if you're in the area!

Used to be a regular here prior to the pandemic. Food wasn't amazing but consistent with good portions and the Sunday night meal 7 course meal deal was great. Staff have always been friendly and you could have a chat about football with the manager Amin who bizarrely is a Spurs fan! Every single takeaway I've had since the pandemic has been awful, inedible and ended up throwing it in the bin. I assume they've got a new cook. The vegetarian mains used to have a good variety of vegetables, now every veggie curry I've ordered has been 90% onion 10% potato. I love onion but who wants an onion curry! Despite asking for hot curries there has been no spice, no flavour and curry drowning in 1/2 inch of oli. Sad to see how bad the food has gone. Given them a lot of chances but won't be back.

Great meal tonight. We had chicken Karachi, Balti Exotica, Bombay potatoes and sundries. I always order something different and it honestly gets better every time. Staff are always super friendly and efficient. You really have to visit this place.

Not another rave review... Hell Yeah baby Our annual neighbours curry night and only one place to visit, yup Essence. The heart of all Rubies. As per usual, greeted with open arms and a welcome befit for a regular. Beers and girly drinks ordered and onto the Poppadoms Well looked after with great banter with Amin. Starter and Mains ordered, no rushing around to herd us us out, all done in fine time. But please, the food, hubba hubba. Absolutely awesome . No complaints (I mean, how can you complain with the quality of food you get here) what so ever. So looking forward to Christmas Day nose bag, because this is now traditional, non of your nonsense Turkey, give us a Ruby. Well done Amin and the team. You really do pull it out the bag every visit.

Called about 4 to seeing there was room. No surprise it was fully booked. We made a reservation for 6.30 p.m. It was more than worth the wait. The food was excellent as always. We had lamb for a change. Fab. The other excellent thing was the service. Polite, efficient and welcoming from every member of staff. The service here is amazing. Thank you all .

Absolutely love Essence. Being vegan it can be difficult to eat at Indian restaurants but Essence goes above and beyond. We travel 20 miles to get our fix but it is so worth it.

Everything about this place is great, from the "Welcome!" from Amil to the consistently good, and good value, menu. It has been the same for years and there's every indication that that will continue to be the case.

Came in to Essence last night and ordered food to go. We had Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi and King Prawn Dupiaza. Absolutely delicious. While I waited the staff really looked after me and got me beer. Thanks guys, will be back soon.

Always enjoyed our visits to Essence so rather than risk a faceless takeaway via deliveroo, we opted for one from Amin and his team. I was able to preorder the day before with no hassle and although there was a slight delay on the night, it wasn't long and was expected on such a busy night so no problem at all! The food was really tasty as always, we really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone!

Have been using this restaurant for 15 years now. Even though my parents have not visited the restaurant for 7 years as they have moved back to London, Amin always always enquires about them. This personal, friendly service together with great food makes this restaurant a must visit

I ordered a takeaway from Essence just before Christmas because I’ll be honest, I was feeling a bit too lazy to cook and it had been a little while since I’d eaten really good Indian food.The food was fantastic! Although truth be told, I have eaten at Essence before and I have never once been disappointed. After ordering I went to collect the takeaway around 20 minutes later and the staff never fail to greet you in a friendly manner. The service is excellent and this place really is such a brilliant asset for the local community.I can’t wait to order again in the new year and look forwards to being able to eat in the restaurant again. Thanks again to all the team at Essence!

We love Essence. We have visited and had takeaway on many occasions. The food is fresh, and always delicious. My favourite being one of their specials, the Essence Tasty Massala. The staff are so friendly, and the service is excellent!

Really rude over the phone. Ive never come across a biryani with a separate sauce so i asked questions about it. He then told me he was busy, I was taking up his time, and refused to take my order! lol, what a joker.
