Spice lounge norbury in Lambeth

An amazing venue, With incredible staff who were very attentive! As well as the amazing food! Highly recommend trying this place out!

Taken here for evening meal with family Uncle who lives in Norbury and eats there regularly. Was very busy and bit noisy and had to wait about an hour as also doing takeaways . The wait was worthwhile. I ordered a Lucknow Biriani,my husband butter chicken with dal makhani. All delicious.

Really interesting Indian cooking. The staff were friendly and welcoming and explained their COVID precautions helpfully and were very diligent - sanitizer was offered as we entered, they explained that tables were not set with cutlery out etc, and everywhere was very clean. They also explained that orders might be a little slow to arrive because of social distancing requirements in the kitchen - actually everything arrived as promptly as you might expect. The food is great, A fantastic range of interesting veggie curries, for example cashew nut curry and a dish made from tandoor-roasted aubergines.The chutney with the poppadums was freshly made in-house and truly excellent - not the usual gunky mango chutney and chopped onions. Lamb on the bone and Karahi Lamb were gorgeous, high quality meat slow cooked with fresh herbs, spices and ginger enhancing the flavours, really enjoyed the Samosa Chat starter with had a mix of rich and fresh tasting sauces and garnishes. The cassava chips were very crisp, fluffy and tasty. The tarka dhal was smoky and fragrant, and served in a little clay pot. The aubergine dish was fantastic, as was the cashew nut curry. 6 of us all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Nothing to look at from the outside, and the decor is sparse - two big TVs on the walls as is popular in lots of authentic S London curry restaurants - but all our focus was on the food. We live not far away - this is our new favourite local Indian restaurant. Can't wait to return.

Food here is always delicious and quick service. I always enjoy the Biriyani and the side dishes! Recommended!

A friend of mine used to work at this restaurant, but he had to leave because they could not afford his wages. They were almost broke. One year later they still owe him two months wages. Avoid this restaurant as staff turnover is very high.

Table of 7 early start...took an hour and a half to get served. Every other table (who came in after us) was served before us...unintelligible waiters, not great

The food took a bit longer to come,but it was worth waiting as it was delicious & mouth watering. This place has been in there for almost 20 years where i have been there before BUT the current owner Gopal Patel seems to be there every time we go so due to his presence & management skill the service is good as well as the food. We have also found that they can adjust the dishes to your taste buds. We need a place like this as really we don't have any such place around this vicinity.

Booked a table for a group so we weren’t walk-ins. Empty starter trays, had to wait to be filled and even then chicken tikka was cold and tasteless. Main dishes full of sauce and no meat ... waited again ... then no nan bread. Dessert was a dry chocolate cake or few slices of melon. Service poor and disorganised. Complained whilst there and offered a coffee on the house!

Myself and two friends thought we'd try the Spice Lounge in our search for a good curry in London and weren't disappointed. Interior is modern and light with stools at a long bar where you can sit and have a drink only if you wish. We had shami kebab & chilli chicken for starters. Both portions were huge, enough for two so bear this in mind if you visit and think the price of starters is expensive. The kebabs were obviously of a good quality and high lamb content with lovely sauteed onions with them. The chilli chicken was nicely spicy and obviously pieces of chicken, not the reformed chicken that seems to be common these days in curry houses. Mains were butter chicken, keema peas and a goa fish curry. Sides of egg rice, Bombay Aloo and paratha. Keema peas was very mild and tasty as was the butter chicken, again the quality was very good. The Goa fish curry was ok'ish but not to my tastes tbh, the fish was just too tasteless for me. Talking to the manager necessary telling us they don't add any colourings, preservatives or cream to their dishes and a minimal amount of ghee to keep things healthy. They will willingly cook anything you ask for but don't expect it to be like most other curry houses in taste or appearance. We will definitely be going back and will be trying the lamb chops starters he recommended. We all left with a takeaway, the huge starters made sure of that!

I've been to Spice Lounge quite a few times, each time as good as the last. I've only had one better curry in London (Apollo Banana Leaf in Tooting) since moving here some years ago. I've tried most things on the menu and now struggle to choose. My top 3 starters: paneer shashlik, chilli fish and lamb chops. Top 3 mains: Baingan burther, butter chicken and Goan fish curry.

this is a brightly lit quite big restaurant in south Streatham/norbury. its probably not a "datenight" venue unless you both enjoy really good curries. But for good indian food it would be hard to beat. the curries are amazing and try the chicken wings to start as they come in a really rich tasty sauce . Service is quick and friendly and the chef even appeared at the end of our meal to ask diners if they were happy with their food. This has become our "go to " indian restaurant.

I have enjoyed good Indian food in the US and Australia. Nothing prepared me for this.Excellent and tasty Indian food with a nice, heartwarming "burn". Elegant setting and warm atmosphere. Have eaten there on four occasions. Will return shortly. Very gracious and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

I've eaten in restaurants all over the world and I'm happy this place is so close by. The starters are what this place is all about with a nice cold beer.

It's one of our favourite weekend destination. The food is great and the staff is friendly. Could be late service on weekends but worth the wait!

Come here at least once a month. Food is excellent. Service can be slow but that is due to the kitchen preparing every dish fresh and this will be told to you in advance. Best dishes for me are the chutneys for the papads, the grilled lamb chops, coriander fish and the chilli chicken. The bhajias and the Bengan Bharta are great too Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the area!!

The only thing that was good was the lamb korma rice was under cooked very hard onion bhajis dripping in oil/grease like they had been fried my keema naan was basicly just half a naan with meat

Food quality and delivery time were better than most. Food really was one of the best Indian takeaways in the area, and I can highly recommend. A bit expensive, and portion sizes could be better, but don't let that stop you from trying them.

Expensive for what was recieved. The milkshake was awfull. Bar of choclate grounded and 1/2 pint of milk added. Kebab roll was nice. Starter was half dozen chicken tika pieces and a couple of onion bargis nit what i would call mixed starter.As i said food ok but not £11.55 worth.

Only had a very simple meal - butter chicken and boiled rice, but it was fab and not at all greasy. I would like to try more of their menu so will order again.

Do not visit this place in winter as they do not turn heating. Food was also average. Taking advantage as no Indian club in Norbury

Made an order over £30 and followed the instructions on the Just Eat menu, "FREE Bottle of drink OR side dish on orders over £30. Note on offers: Please write your chosen items in the comment box" Then received a call to tell me that I will not get a free item because that only applies to phone orders. Customer service fail! Think I'll go with somewhere that keeps their word next time.

That's a good sign... We ordered and loved the food. Delivery was reasonably quick, the food was piping hot and incredibly tasty. We will certainly be returning for more

Very flavoursome, good value and good portions. The delivery driver was a little late, however when he arrived the food was still piping hot and the driver was very friendly and apologetic for the delay so I didn't mind. Would definitely recommend if you fancy a good quality Indian that won't break the bank!
