Passage To India in Lambeth

King prawn biryani- used cheap Iceland frozen king prawns which had no fragrance or taste of prawns. Bare in mind the price was like £15 so I am disappointed to see that they are using cheap king prawn from iceland or Tesco. Watery prawn that has no flavour. To then charge us £15 for it is quite unethical. However the biryani rice was nice and I think if they used the usual indian takeaway jumbo king prawns this would have been very nice. I would have ordered from them every week. Chicken madras was excellent. I've tried many madras and this is up there as top 3 in the area. Tarkha dhall- was more like a dhall bhuna. I would have liked a bright coloured tarkha dhall with thin sauce. When it comes to tarkha dhall it is best to make this side dish fresh you can taste the difference unfortunately this was not fresh. In overall, this restaurant has serious potential to be one of the best but their lack of long term vision and immediate profit is holding them back. They need to make small adjustments. For example: pop in a free papadom not that we can't afford it but its a gesture that the restaurant wants to look after the customers that the restaurant is generous. Get high quality king prawns, make fresh tarkha dhall everyday. I wrote this feedback because I've tried almost all Indian restaurants and this can be a top 3 if they make slight improvement in food and service.

Box meal: Lamb vindaloo & naan bread Ok so I'm very fussy about vindaloo & since moving back to London I haven't had the greatest experience as I felt a depth of flavour has been missing from various places I have tried. I have only enjoyed a few places I was semi reluctant to try but I entered tonight to buy a vindaloo box meal with naan which is a go to addiction for me and I was not disappointed I got home prayed over my meal and hoped for a good result and the vindaloo is lovely the lamb is tasty & good flavour the spice is hot to my liking and gave me a release endorphins to the brain which i want. underlying flavours are satisfying to my palette I will definitely use again. For the price you cannot go wrong with this I am very happy as it's just round the corner to me. I am so happy about this thank you so much 👍👍👍👍👌👌I will purchase again

Food was delicious. Lamb was lovely and tender. The nan bread could have done with more cooking time. Found it to be quite doughy.

The vegetable Thali was very disappointing, each dish tasted the same. Bland tasteless food.

Have ordered butter chicken/lamb twice and both times they tasted exactly like a korma with its coconut taste. Tastes nothing like a creamy butter chicken I've had anywhere else. Not sure if it's their butter chicken or its easier to give another dish hoping the customer won't know the difference but abit disappointed

Had the Chicken biryani must say it was absolutely horrible it tatse like uncle Ben's rice from corner shop mixed up with chicken they definitely need a proper Indian or Bangladeshi Chef I'd rather go the extra few miles and go to another one which is a lot further away they use lots of different authentic spices and amazing flavours Zero stars!!

Curry was average, the guy from the restaurant also had a go at me for ordering from there as it's too far away. Won't be coming back.

I hate leaving bad reviews but unfortunately it was bland. Ceylon didnt taste of coconut at all and Pathia was just spicy tomato. But good portion sizes and decent sized naan.

Got a Naga which is apparently medium but it was ridiculously hot and not much flavour of anything else. Paratha was dry. Samosas were like what you would get as a snack in a meal deal. Poor

Usually have found it consistently very good, but a bit disappointed today. Prawn Dhansak was quite bland. Naan was a bit chewy, didn't seem as fresh as usual. Everything else was good. Usually order early evenings so maybe because it was Sunday lunchtime.

I bought a lamb biryani for someone from Sri Lanka who works in a shop where I live in Thornton Heath on 1/2/24. He wanted to know how good the food was in the area I work. He had been asking for 3 weeks and I finally got round to it. I tried to order from somewhere else on Uber delivery the day before but after 2 hours the order was cancelled. So I decided to order and pick up this time. I called at 17.35 as soon as they were open. I told them I would collect after I finish work. The person I bought it for let the other workers in the shop try a bit. When I went back to the shop they all asked me if I had tried or ordered before which I haven't yet. They gave it 10/10 and we're raving about it. So now I have to try the food which I will do. They absolutely loved it. No peas in veg curry and I don't like peas. If the Chef does a dry veg without sauce I would try this as well so I will find out. Perfect service and meeted and greeted with a smile. Would totally recommend on the feedback I was given. If the person I gave it to says it was good then it is good. Thank you Passage To India. I will personally phone you to say thank you. Fou

The chicken was cut so small it was like shredded. Not even a Chicken breast used for both dishes. Food was just pure hot without flavour. I'm very sad as I've been a customer for years. It came a lot earlier than stated.

The chicken wouldn't account for a breast it had been cut up in each dish to tiny pieces. I have ordered from here for years but sadly it has gone completely down hill. There was no flavour both chicken dishes were just pepper hot. Very disappointed

The best Indian takeaway in London as far as I’m concerned ☺️ so delicious every time, always arrives earlier than the estimate and always with a friendly, courteous delivery person. The veggie 2 for 1 deal is really greatly appreciated - I tried the cauliflower bhaji as a result and it was delicious. I am officially addicted to the sag rolls!! And I have to say the veggie samosas were even better than usual this time.

The food is lovely as usual, but I ordered 4 popadums but only got 2 & they are very soft & rubbery.

Honestly, finding a good Indian takeaway is tough in London. But these guys nailed it. The two curries were very flavourful and original. The spicy one is rich and savoury, while the sweeter dish was creamy, sweet and complex. Naans were great, but could be a little larger for a greedo such as myself.

Normally the quality of the food is very good. Today it was very poor. Old and stale. Really disappointed.

I've been ordering from Passage to India for years, they're my go to Indian takeaway place. I've never had a bad experience with them. The delivery men are always so patient, early or on time and are always super friendly. Would highly recommend.

Got a Saturday night takeaway from them , we tried thier mixed grill ,along with salt and pepper prawns and some box meals between 2 of us. The mixed grill was amaizing and box meals were pleantyful and good value too.

By far the best Indian takeaway we have had! Very tasty, reasonably priced and arrived hot. Just fantastic!

Today at 8.30pm I ordered a takeaway, not greatly expensive....£23 or so, I was promised delivery within the hour but it was 9.45 before it was delivered which wasn't too bad apart from the fact that it was stone cold. Being annoyed I rang to complain and I admit I was a bit irate but what I didn't expect was to be told by a member of staff that he would like me to call to see him so he could beat me up. Not greatly pleasant. I did tell him.....when I could get a word in that I wouldn't be writing a favourable review. He finished by saying that he would recook everything and have it delivered within 20 minutes. I rang back saying that I no longer wanted their food as I was afraid that they would tamper with it. A few minutes later, the supposed manager rang me saying that I was being unreasonable and again shouting over me stating that he had been there for 30 years or so which I find odd as when I asked him if he knew of other Indian takeaways nearby where I had actually worked some years back he didn't know them. I have to admit that I was afraid that if they cooked another meal they would spit in it or do something to it, I did tell him that. Anyway, the upshot of all this is that in my opinion, the customer service here is rubbish, no one complaining should be threatened with being beat up by a member of staff. I shall never order from here again.

Expeditiously quick, delish! No non-sense, ordered the vindaloo….compliments to the chef! It was amazing and packed just amount of heat…wanting more! Thank you, always ready and my favourite place to order on those indecisive nights! Cheers!!

The delivery literally could not have been more on time. We ordered for 11:20pm. I checked my phone at 11:19. Then the doorbell rang. And I checked again: 11:20. It was wild. Time was incredibly stressful tonight, too, so this was especially appreciated. Also good curry good rice good naan etc.

When I got my chicken korma's their was hardly any chicken in it instead I had more sauce very disappointed won't be ordering again

I'd be much happier if more time was spent preparing the food I ordered properly. A biryani is not made by mixing plain rice with chicken breast and curry sauce. Awful food and one can only surmise the owners of such a place have no consideration for their clientele. Dreadful meal, I won't bother denigrating the rest of my order.

The food never disappoints!!! Ans when they forgot my rice they gave me chocken samosas free for the mistake and it was worth the wait 5 stars 🌟

I ordered a chicken biryani which comes with a veg curry. Curry was a bit bland but biryani was yummy.

Always order take aways from this restaurant. The flavours are very authentic. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with my last order on Wednesday 21st June. One of the dishes didn't get delivered, so I contacted the restaurant and they said they will send the dish out. On delivery of the dish I was given a bag with the dish out of the container and the delivery driver said that the restaurant gave him the dish like this. Very disappointed with the service I received.

Good service, but I found the foot a bit bland.

Love the flavours in the dishes ordered from previous orders. However one dish was missing, the chicken korma. I called to inform the restaurant of this. The order came spilt in the bag out of the container. Not too happy about this. I took pictures but am not able to attach them.

Love ordering from this restaurant, this is my go to place for Indian. Food always tastes amazing & great service every time.
