Spice Lounge in Fenland

Excellent cuisine, very nice food well cooked and served. We drive 35 mins past many other restaurants as Spice Lounge easily outclassed all the others. Looking forward to our next weekly visit.

Stunning takeaway on a Saturday night! we ordered early evening and online which is really handy! food didn’t take long we went and collected and was delicious

I went to the Spice Lounge in Chatteris with a friend. When we arrived, there was nobody else in the restaurant. We were ushered to a seat without the hosts talking to us at all. It felt really awkward. So much so, we nearly left straight away. However, we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. The elderly man who took our order informed us they were not serving alcohol. However, with water at £3.25 per glass - and Coke at £3 per can - I could see that they didn't need to make their money from alcohol!! The menu was average and my one fell apart when I opened it. On the table were knives and forks but no spoons. The curry was served in bowls and placed on the table. I asked if they could provide us with some spoons. These were (seemingly) reluctantly provided. In silence. No engagement from the serving staff. No engagement whatsoever from the manager. This created a really awkward moment! Halfway through the meal, a young waiter asked us if everything was alright. We said it was. However, the food was 5/10 at best. When my friend finished his drink, the manager asked if he would like another one. My friend said "no thank you" and the manager immediately grabbed his glass off the table, turned and walked over to the bar area, and slammed the glass down (loudly) onto the bar. The atmosphere was dreadful. I asked for the bill. When I paid the bill, the manager said nothing to us at all. Didn't ask if we enjoyed the meal (which we didn't). When we went to leave, I looked for the bill. The manager had taken it. I asked for it and was told that I couldn't have it. Honestly, what a place!! Do yourself a massive favour and tell all your friends to avoid the Spice Lounge in Chatteris!! It was the worst meal and worst experience of the year for my friend and I. They earned their Terrible rating here!

Probably the best restaurant/dining experience in Chatteris. Food is tasty; staff are friendly and the dining room is always busy which is a good sign for any restaurant.

The food is absolutely lovely. There’s plenty to choose from and caters well for vegetarians really well. Would do well to do some other dishes for the ones who don’t like Indian food (children’s menu?). Only real negative is that, I’ve been a quite few times now and to be honest find that some of the staff can be a bit standoffish.

Ordered two vindaloo for me and my partner was very hot temperature and had a nice spice to it very flavoursome, had few other dishes very tasty not swimming in oil or grease or water highly recommended and will be using again 😀

Was on holiday nearby and phoned through a delivery order for 6 people . Arrived at our holiday park within 45 minutes , order was complete and the food was given a big thumbs up by all six of us !

This is a welcoming and warm place with excellent food and very good ambiance. The staff are politely friendly and professional. On a cold, dreary wintry evening I just wanted to warm up and scare off an oncoming cold so I wandered in alone with the idea of having a hot, spicy vindaloo as a little treat. The whole room is visible as you wander in and the soft recessed lighting and warm pink walls make you feel immediately at ease. I'm mobility impaired but the staff were instantly helpful without being awkward or hovering. There is only a light step on entry to the restaurant so it had easy access. I was gracefully gestured towards a suitable table and helped to settle myself in. A few enquiring words were spoken and i then almost instantly had a refreshing long glass of Kingfisher at hand, chilled beautifully. The room was acoustically comfortable with some easy listening Indian music in the background and a few other customers chatting and relaxing together. The food was just what I needed and was hoping for, the vindaloo excellent, with perfect heat and roundness or flavour to offset the level of spice to make it authentic and satisfying, the potato in the dish was cooked perfectly and piping hot. The lemon pilau rice is also ordered was truly the tastiest I've ever had. ( it's off menu but that was no problem for the staff and experienced chef ) The sidedish of naan was fluffy and light with crunchy toasty edges. Superb! A lemon sorbet in a real lemon rounded off my meal. I left feeling really glad that I'd decided to pop in and was delighted at how reasonable the bill was.

After being let down after booking for the Turkish restaurant for my daughters 18th birthday . We didn’t no what we was going to do as family meal wise stumbled soon this lovely Indian restaurant . Luckily they had a table and saved my daughters 18th meal! Not only that food was fantastic fast service. Staff are very friendly . And not only that family friendly . I couldn’t recommend this place enough and will definitely travel back to come again!

I found the staff to be extremely helpful in helping me choose a meal, due to my allergies I have to be very careful with some spices I found the meal to be very tasty, ample servings of everything I ordered and the price was exceptionally reasonable

Had an enjoyable meal but it was a Saturday lunchtime and we were the only guests so felt a little rushed as they wanted to close early

Went there with the family for my birthday 4 adults and 2 children. Got served quickly but food was just average. Curry could have been hotter as only like warm. The service was ok the waiters were quite rude seemed to have no time for chidren. cannot say it was brilliant.

Very bad customer service since original owner has moved on,wanted to order a delivery and soon as I said where I lived and not in Chatteris he responded with sorry we haven’t got a delivery driver,so went to pick it up and was very disappointed with the amount of chicken in my wife’s dish,I’ve been going to this place since the day it opened and now won’t bother,terrible attitude by the staff

Visited on a Saturday night into an extremely hot restaurant which they only turned the air con for a minute it seemed. Pretty slow service getting the drinks and food was very average. My wifes korma lacked any flavour apart from gritty almonds and my chicken curry was just spicy hot again no real flavour. Nice naan bread and rice though to go with it. Would not rush back in a hurry.

Friends brought us here for a meal as they use the restaurant regularly. The food was delicious and there was a vast amount of choice on the menu. The portions were generous, so go hungry! The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We could see why our friends think so highly of the place.

The meal was ok, nothing special. The chicken tikka in both sauces tasted off or was a very bad quality. Has put me off chicken.

A group of six of us were visiting the area for a weekend away and had been playing darts in a pub up the road when we decided to explore for some food. The Spice Lounge was quickly located and to be honest given how small Chatteris is our hopes weren't high - how wrong we were.

An excellent meal best we have had in a long time and the staff so friendly and efficient. Our friends were really impressed and they eat at Indian restaurants at least once a month where they live. We shall definitely be visiting again.

Tried Spice Lounge for the first time today because our local curry place has gone down hill and we were not disappointed. The food tasted amazing, so fresh. We had it delivered, which was a nice surprise because not many deliver to where we live. Spice Lounge will be our ‘usual’ curry house from now on.

We visited this restaurant on recommendation. Unfortunately it had no card payment cash only. The place was nice and inviting. Warm and cosy. Service was good ( except I personally think a waiter chewing gum. Is unacceptable in a restaurant). As was our waiter. Disappointing that no draught lagers. Bottles only. The curry was first class. As was the popadoms and naan breads. Prawn cocktail leaves a lot to be desired. But it is an Indian restaurant. Overall good

What can I say we have eaten here many a time and it never fails to impress. The food is fabulous, the staff are friendly, the service is excellent, the menu choice is extensive, highly recommend every day of the week

Always had good food and delivery is usually fast, But have made a few mistakes on orders which were hard to get rectified. But we keep going back as they are constantly good.

They do offer on Tuesday £11.95 for 4 dishes per person.

Visited premises with 4 friends after a days fishing. Excellent meal had by all. A bit concerned when I saw red wine been poured back into the bottle behind the counter but that was like vinegar anyway. Reasonably priced food, clean premises and service quite good.

food was very good and didn't take long to arrive at table with very good service, and a warm welcome management happy to correspond with customers the only draw back was being quite a large restaurant when there isn't a lot of people the atmosphere seems very cold and bare but other wise a very enjoyable meal

I have been to Spice Lounge several times and have never been dissapointed in fact it is probably the best indian meal i have ever had.

We have been eating at the Spice Lounge since it opened. Always made to feel very welcome , never had anything other than a great meal . Tuesday night is deal night.... very good .

We had a lovely meal last night that was spoilt when we received the bill showing the price for two Chappati was £6.90. When I asked the manager how he could justify such high prices he went on about being advised by his accountant and said all local restaurants charged a similar price of around £3.00 each. I have since checked and the highest price is £1.90 and some are £1.30. I wanted to remember this visit with positive thoughts but have left with negative thoughts. We didn’t leave a tip to take into account this extortionate over charge for what is basically a piece of Indian bread,which is a shame because the service was good.

We decided on a Indian meal with friends and decided to try out this restaurant had been before some months ago. Serve was very good and the food was great. I will return

I must say this place has gone down badly since change of management. My last order before today the chicken tikka masala was spicy and not mild as it should of been. The next time I was promised freebies that didn't happen. Today the curry had spilt all over on route to my house, again I've been promised a half priced meal.. But I won't hold my breathe with this place. Food was still decent but not to the standard of the last management. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone anymore.

Food was discusting, tasteless, chips tasted like they were from the day before. The naan bread was burnt. The full order ended up in the bin. May as well of burnt my money.

My dad and I tried the Spice Lounge for the first time recently and were very pleasantly surprised. From the outside, the restaurant looks quite small, but inside, it's really well lit and very contemporary and the staff are very welcoming. The menu is comprehensive - something for all tastes, but we opted for a couple of kormas with aloo gobi, pilau rice, brijal bahji and sag paneer. Everything was mouth watering and there was a generous serving of chicken in the korma. The meat was tender and succulent. We rounded things off with a sorbet and ice cream and washed it all down with a couple of Cobra beers. Judging by the number of people in the restaurant, this is a well-loved local establishment. I would say that you can't go wrong. Great Indian food on your doorstep - or certainly worth a drive over to Chatteris. The service was great, too. All in all, a very enjoyable meal and we will definitely be back!

Always had a good meal here. Very tasty. The onion bhajis were missing from my order and when I called the couldn't apologise enough and sent some straight out. Just a shame they were very dense. The curry however, fantastic!

I might be a bit harsh here, but taste pallet of the food was not developed, it was not too spicy, but apart from spiciness nothing else can be tasted, lack of taste in simple terms, delivery time was not too bad, food arrived relatively fast and hot. From the price point of view way too pricey, portion was small. 14 quid dinner (for one person) i expect to be at least filling, but i got no satiety neither good taste. Yet i wont write off this takeaway, i will give it a try one more time, it maybe its just only this particular meal (Vindaloo, Lamb tikka). What you guys should take from here is that there is room for improvement.

Always a fab welcome and great service, food is second to none and reasonably priced too. We hadn't booked but thanks to a no show we had a table in no time, you will need to book over the weekend as it's always busy.

Food was so good - only issue was app didn't work so ended up having to collect instead of delivery. Then had to wait 10 mins when I got there, however the food was fresh hot and delicious! Overall 3/5

It was a Saturday night and we had only arrived in the town for a two day visit. We were welcomed, fed and enjoyed the service and the food.

Food was ok .... not bad but not memorable. .. service and delivery was exceptional

Sin embargo, aunque el menú parecía bastante interesante y no simplemente un genérico del Sur de Asia, los platos que teníamos eran un poco soso. No tengo quejas, pero igualmente no hay razón para elegir este restaurante sobre sus competidores. Dada la historia de buenas críticas, quizás este era un noche o elegimos mal - le daría una segunda oportunidad. Inteligente, muy popular (lleno durante nuestra visita) y con un personal atento, quizás demasiado atento, repetidas veces nos preguntaban sobre otras bebidas y tratando de quitar botellas antes de que estaban vacíos.

No taste in curry at all, understand that it was a mild one so to some it may be bland but couldn't tell the difference between a prawn and the fruit. Naan nice

Read the reviews on here and booked a table, first thing we noticed was the bright decor. Seated by a friendly waiter, drinks arrived quickly as did each course. The food was a surprise as it was very good with great flavours, and did not taste like your normal takeaway. We both loved it and we will definitely visit next time we are in the area. Highly recommended.

Arrived ahead of schedule. Massive amount of chicken in Chilli Masala. Great value! Tasty as ever. Recommended if you like a "proper" tasty curry and well prepared sides.

I have eaten here several times with friends and family, and have had a lovely time on all occasions.The staff are very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. Children are welcome, and in fact i have even taken my 3 month old baby there, and we were welcomed in the same way we would've been without him.I usually ask for a selection of starters of the Chef's choice, and am never disappointed. The food is always of an exceptional standard.

Order last time was one meal short - told to ask for it next time and it would be free - placed next order with a note for free meal - still didn't get it . . Sorry, no more orders!

Awful onion bhajees. Tasted of flour. Worst ever had. Yuk. Not impressed at all with the curries. Masala was pure sugar . The others were just so so. Just a few king prawns in Singapore curry. Chips were just oven chips . Very very poor

First time ordering from spice lounge and boy was I amazed! The food was so authentic that it reminded me of a friends Indian mum feeding us in the school holidays, the portion sizes were as generous as hers were and I didn't have to nuke my food on delivery. The peshwari naan was the best I've ever had too. Thank you, Spice Lounge, compliments to the chef! I shall be ordering again in future.
