Had a takeaway king prawn shazlick yesterday evening. It was fantastic. Really tasty and nice and spicy. Not too hot. Have eaten king prawn shazlick at other Indian restaurants, but none tasted as good as this. Please let me know which chef was on, so when I return for the same King prawn shazlick, I can make sure I order from the same chef. Many thanks. Delicious

We decided to give TSB another try (after a dismal previous visit) thinking that due their advertising campaign they’d upped their game. Welcomed by a really smiling young man. Great start. We noticed the two very young children playing at a table on their own. Thought it a little odd, but not an issue to us. Until the electronic devices ( phone? iPad?) started blasting out. Guys, really! Adults pay expensive babysitters to take a break from that sort of thing. Then I made three “mistakes” in a short space of time. I asked the staff to turn off the noise; I asked if the lamb in the madras was lean and I asked if the cauliflower in the Bhaji was fresh. Noise was silenced (eventually) but we were then subject to frequent and obvious glares from the matriarchal staff member, I was seemingly labelled Mr Grumpy and got a service to match. All food (party of three) was lovely. Except mine. I ordered chicken madras (on recommendation after I asked about the lamb) and the chicken would have made a good Squash ball. Hard and rubbery. And inedible. Madras sauce was excellent though. There won’t be a Next Time for us (Gurkha Spice is far superior and way more popular) but if there was I’d take my own cooked chicken!! If you want your restaurant to be a play room for your young kids, fine. But do you wonder why you are so empty?

A great surprise. Looking for somewhere to eat on a Tusday night, and decided to eat here. Very friendly staff and the service was first rate. I ate a lamb rogon gosh . The spice mixture danced on my palate, leaving alovely cocktail of tastes. The pilau rice was cooked to perfection, and the naan we shared was so good. My partner had a chicken shaslik. Again this was lovely. Well worth a visit

Overall the food was really tasty, it’s about a spice level lower than curries of the same name elsewhere. So if you like heat make sure to let them know. Delivery estimate in UberEats was off by about 30mins, but to be fair when I asked for an update they gave an accurate time.

A Thursday night in January, my 70th birthday, and I was in March with my grown up children following a funeral earlier that day. Unfortunately our first choice of restaurant (as recommended by my brother) was fully booked so we came to the Spice Bank. My son is vegetarian and doesn't drink, so asked for a pint of no-alcohol Cobra. When the 660ml bottle arrived, we soon saw it was the standard 4.5%, so he switched to water and my daughter and I shared the lager. Next problem: no vegetarian menu whatsoever, so we choose a selection from the starters and sides menu together with a couple of pilau rice and a naan. The onion bhajis were cricket ball sized and ok, a little stodgy in places, and the vegetable samosas were good. The rest were various potato dishes, not particularly well spiced. Last problem - no heating. Man it was cold in there, only us and one other table. Would I visit again? No.

Service was terrible, we booked but no table was reserved, luckily we got a table given the town was very busy with switching on the lights. They didn’t ask if we wanted poppadoms and sauce, they just gave it and then charged £8.40. Roti and the naan bread was raw inside. Meat was as tough as the soles of shoes. Spent over £100 for a disgusting meal. They didn’t even offer a dessert menu. Will not recommend the place to anyone.

Came here for dinner last, there was a big group of us which I understand can be a struggle but the food was so below standard, didn’t taste authentic at all. Menu is full of spelling mistakes with no description of the food. One of our friends found a fly in her curry. When paying, the manager was very accusatory when asking everyone how many beers they had, then tried to charge us for £40 worth of beer we never had. Would not recommend nor go back.

Terrible experience. A bit like a carry on film, so we did end up laughing our way through the meal … until the bill came and it was 125 pounds for 6 of us, and we barely ate anything as it was uneditable (and we had one glass of wine and the rest soft drinks) Along with the currys being ridiculously too sweet for any of us to eat (we ordered the Tikka Massala, Lamb Massala and Korma of the feast menu) We had found some straw and a bit of hair in one of the currys, and a used chunk of lemon in the Korma. We gave our feedback throughout the meal, and spoke with the waitress at the end, as well as what we believe to be the manager. The waitress wasn’t too fussed, and said she would pass on the feedback (which we know she didn’t) and the manager was angry at us for saying anything. I did say I was going to write a review, to which he didn’t seem overly fussed! Shame. It was for my Mums birthday, and although we had a laugh because what else can you do - we did also leave feeling disappointed and frustrated that they didn’t care about our experience or the food they served us 😞 We wouldn’t return.

Tandoori prawns inedible due to a nasty chemical taste. Hope we don’t hear from them again. Other main ok but very bland. Menu was so error-strewn and lacking in information that it was hard to choose a dish. Then to cap a really poor experience, we were charged £4.50 for two tap waters! Only saving graces were a friendly waitress (not the rude man who I assume was the manager) and the nice old building. However, sadly, this was comfortably the worst Indian (and one of the worst restaurants) I’ve encountered.

Our Telephoned Order to The Spice Bank in March, Cambridgeshire was promised for a 45-60 minute delivery, but (after a ‘chase-up’ telephone call) took nearly Two hours! and then one of our dishes (the Curry Sauce for a Prawn Biryani) was missing! When we telephoned to enquire about the lateness of our delivery, we were not offered any apologies, but were simply told we could cancel if we wanted to, some 90 minutes after ordering. Our original order was taken by someone who didn’t sound as though they knew what they were doing and the whole experience was not a pleasurable one and I therefore cannot recommend this establishment at all. Even the food (when it was eventually delivered) left a lot to be desired, with the Chicken Madras far too hot to even eat. At a cost of £51.70 for a meal for 4, This was hardly ‘value for money’ (especially when one of our paid for dishes was missing from our order!). We will not be using their services again.3/10

I've been using the spice bank on and off for the last 8 years since they first opened. I can say the the food is cooked fresh, and full of flavour and the meat is cut with generous size portions. The sauce is not swimming in oil like some curry houses that I won't mention where I live in Wisbech. The food is a very high standard and obviously very good. I highly recommend this place especially if you live in Wisbech and surrounding areas its well worth travelling for. My only complaint is that they need to open another spice bank in Wisbech so I don't have to travel!!! I may add that my daughter is a very fussy eater and has high standards in whatever she eats and she loved the food and would use only the spice bank for a curry.

Went to the Spice bank for the first time since the start of the coronavirus and am sad to say I was not impressed .When we arrived we were not asked for contact details which I later found out was something they should have done . When looking at the menu we noted prices have increased but as we were using the eat out scheme it was not an issue but would be in the future if we returned .The starters were ok but we were not impressed with the mains which only have four chunks of meat but lots of onion .The drinks were more like standard supermarket Cola and were charged at £5 for two which I found strange as they are meant to be 50% off .I did not make a fuss because we used the scheme and it was only £20 for the two of us but I will be reluctant to go again in the future .

A recent dinner at The Spice Bank fell slightly short of expectations. Our group of four arrived early for our reserved time slot but as there were free tables, we were seated. There was a short delay as waiters seemed incapable of even finding menus for us, which was a wobbly start. We were then asked to order starters but we had to remind the waiter multiple occasions to take our order for the main courses which was somewhat laughable. The dips with the poppadoms were unconventional, the mango chutney in particular had a bizarre aftertaste and was exceptionally runny. The food was neither good nor bad but the service was what really let it down. The young waiters seemed to be literally juggling our dishes and performing weird balancing acts by asking us to place the cutlery sideways on their wonky stacks of crockery. It all seemed a bit of a joke!

Went for a pre Christmas family meal and had booked a table . We turned up slightly early and were surprised to find empty tables although had been advised that there were none available at 7. Service bordered on Fawlty Towers with the initial introduction being sprayed across the table, there was then a shortage of menus, the waiter was not able to take fhe full order (as they were busy) so took starters and said he would come come back for mains which took a further 3 requests to be satisfied. Then there was some weird cleaning ritual where the table was cleaned with a damp cloth (obviously no table clothes) between courses to the rather amusing plate juggling by totally inexperienced waiting staff. Food wise to be honest after the initial saliva spraying at introduction I was immediately biased and on my own would have departed immediately but my dinner companions seemed to enjoy their food I thought mine was slightly under spiced and the tandoori mixed grill well over cooked. For me i have closed my account with this particular Bank.
