Spice City in Liverpool

Wonderful. Cannot understand the 3.9 stars review. The food, the service and the ambience were fabulous. Ordered poppadoms to start. A lovely Lamb Tikka and Chicken Balti Jalfrezi for mains. If we have the good fortune to return to Liverpool then Spice City will also be on our list of things to do.

Worst food ever. Lots of food colour in the chicken gravy. We ordered a non-veg platter for 2, the quantity wasn't even enough for one person.

Came with friends on a very busy Saturday in November, and we hadn't booked a table , but spice city was very accommodating to our needs , we were quickly seated to our table for the evening. We ordered the pickle tray and poppadoms, which had all the usually lovely dips , we ordered 3 main meals and chips rice and garlic nann all was very tasty and the chicken lovely and tender , accompanied by some wine , which was of decent quality for house wine , thank you spice lounge for rounding off our lovely day in liverpool with a faultless lovely meal and service .

The food was excellent, the presentation was fresh and modern. The service was first class. There was four of us and we all really enjoyed it! Ps. The cocktails were delicious

Stumbled across this place as it was close to our hotel. What a find!! Roasted poppadoms? Who knew they were a thing? Sooo good! We went with specials for starters and mains and they were lovely. Slightly more expensive than we get at home but it’s a city centre so to be expected and to be fair it was worth it. Ultimately the food was amazing and the staff were really friendly.

Food was very nice... Pity not enough meat in my curry.. 8 bits of lamb at 12 quid.. Definitely not be back.. Flavour was fantastic.. Very tender the lamb was too.. But certainly not worth the price

We are visiting from New Zealand and was looking forward to a great curry. My friend, a local had booked weeks ago and received email confirmation. Imagine our surprise when we turned up and the restaurant was closed. No contact at all from management. Piss poor.

We have been coming to spice city for 20 years. It is excellent, the best Indian in town. If you want a great curry come and see Niz and the gang. Martin maginn

I am staying away in Liverpool for work and was looking for an Indian restaurant to which I came across Spice City. I am normally very fussy and always nervous to adventure out and try new places but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered for collection and the food was promptly ready to collect in the stated time! The food was piping hot and full of flavour. The curry came with plenty of sauce and didn't feel overly oily like some currys can. I ordered a lamb tikka jalfrezi and would really recommend despite seeing some previous negative reviews on it. I also really enjoyed the peshwari naan. I would honestly recommend this place as i definitely will be reordering from here again 👌🏻

Very poor service. Order came 30 mins late and even then one dish was missing from the order. The missing dish came 10 mins later but it was horrible . Not eatable at all . Never order paneer makhani from here.

Don’t get me wrong the food was adequate (just). But just to bland. No authenticity, a smile might help ..staff seemed pretty miserable & please please clean the loos, by far the dirtiest I have seen in a restaurant .. hope the hygiene elsewhere is better !!

Not really top of my list of Indian restaurants- choose this one because it had high reviews, not sure why? First, I must mention the toilets. A disgrace for an establishment that charges a decent amount for fairly basic / ordinary food and pretty dark and dismal surroundings. The Chicken Piri Piri could feed two people, nicely presented but pretty ordinary. The Chicken Jalfrezi was bland and uninspiring. So, as you can gather, not my favourite Indian Restaurant. Sorry, I usually like to be positive!

Ordered meals but they come with incorrect meals. They argued that Dansak is the same heat as madras which obviously it isn’t. Then delivered a red hot naan bread without a plate that ended up straight on our meals. Come time to pay, it was like we were outlaws and they stood by till we we paid up. Good food but naughty service.

Received a text apologising for my order being late, but it was delivered on time. Nice of them to be conscientious. Food was absolutely delicious. We had the meal for two. Stuffed now and couldn’t eat it all so leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. Thanks!

I'll give 10 stars if I could for the atmosphere...but if you are serving Indian cuisine, you should give the basic side salad as well like Onion, tomatoes and green chilly. Overall, the experience was good!

Loved it! Came here at my 10yr old sons request for a stay over before Anfield Tour. Initially we went to street food but didn't look all that so, we changed our mind last minute and, I am glad we did 😁 Food was amazing, staff very friendly and nice looking place. Reasonable prices and would definitely recommend. I'm not sure why there are low reviews on here at all but, don't let that out you off, if you love Indian get yourself here 👍 Keep up the great work !!!

Estimated time of delivery given, failed to meet this with us contacting the restaurant at the 1 hour 10 mark for information. Finally arrived 30 minutes after this where upon opening the bag two of the curry's had been crushed and subsequently poured all over the rest of the order. Two members of the group have been violently unwell following their meals.

0 out of 5 Service shocking!! Food just as bad. Chicken nuggets as hard as bullets. Prawn Balti bland and had no spice or heat to it. I questioned the owner about not having green chilly in a medium Balti as described on the menu he argued with me a Balti doesn’t have green chilly in it. Can’t recommend this excuse of Indian restaurant any lower. I would rather eat in McDonalds.

very over priced and of poor quality minimal amount of food.. ordered a lamb jalfrazi which tasted like Chinese curry sauce and the meat was definitely not lamb.. sent food back and staff were not acomodating at all we found them very rude will definitely not recommend this place to eat

Me and my partner both went out for a romantic dinner and the service was one of the best we had experienced, the food was brilliant with a reasonable price and we both enjoyed the evening very much

Visited over a week ago at the start of our holiday after seeing good reviews online. We returned last night also. Fabulous food and friendly staff can’t speak highly enough of this restaurant.

We were in Liverpool on a Stag do. As usual with a drink inside food was on the agenda. We drifted into Spice City and was dealt with with a warm welcome & attentive service. The food was brought reasonably quickly and as usual the pickle tray was spot on... I ordered a special Biryani, when it arrived I thought "wheres mi food" but believe me it was enough... A long time since I've had a "curry" thoroughly enjoyed it.... Worked out at 35 quids/head including a bottle of Cobra.... For a major City Bart rate.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. Bit quiet for a Saturday night but suited us to the ground. Get yourselves there folks.

Been ordering from here for years, always delicious food. Ordered tonight after a long shift and there were items missing from order, wouldn't usually question it as I get how busy it can be, but called just to check. The restaurant kindly offered to come back to deliver the missing items. Wonderful service and wonderful food. Can't go wrong. Thank you!

Great welcome as we walked in for a bit of tea with my dad and better half. Fantastic service, chef even came out to discuss how to make everything perfect for us! Quality of the meat was spot on and spice levels just right for our particular tastes. Despite living in the city centre we've always gone out of town for good quality curries but this is a hidden gem right in the heart of the city. Couldn't recommend it more

Chicken Tikki Masala has a weird sweetness to it, like they added a lot of sugar. Biryani looked nice but had no flavour. In general was just pretty gross.

Treated like family. What a great experience. We where greated by a lovely young lady who seated us. We where promptly offered drinks and poppadoms. The starters and mains where fantastic and the service was second to none. They served local Love lane larger and IPA. Nice change from the limited beer selection you usually get in a Indian restaurant. I will 100% be returning.

Would not recommend! We ordered a delivery where it said it would take 40 minutes, but it took 1 hour and 45 minutes. Not impressed at all. We rang them after an hour and they said they are still cooking the curry. Then our food were arrived at different times. The food was cold and not nice to eat. Waiting that long surely the food would have been tasty and hot but wasn’t. Not good quality food do not recommend!

Me and my friends have been going to Spice City for the best part of 20 years. It is very rare that we will eat at another Indian restaurant. The food is top drawer, and over all the years I've been going, I've never been disappointed with the quality of the array of food I've sampled. The food presentation and the service from the staff is always on point and cannot be faulted at all. Over the years we have got to know the owner and his staff and we now class them as friends. I am not writing this review as a friend of the owner, but as a truly satisfied customer. Niz and his staff do an amazing job at Spice City and deserve to be praised for their efforts. I would recommend Spice City to anybody without hesitation.

Owner was very attentive and spoke a lot to us however other staff very quiet. We were only the 2 people in the entire restaurant at it was 7:30pm on a tuesday night😟 Got the meal for 2; starters were lovely mains not so much, not much flavour in the lamb jalferzi and portion sizes quite small.

The food was not good at all. The staff was little bit rude and it was less staffed as well. We had to call them loudly each time. Food was not even 10% of what we expected

I was really routing for this place. I took a chance by deciding to stay when I walked in and literally ZERO other customers were there. Thought maybe they do a lot of take away. Sigh. The service was sub par especially considering no one was there. Food was meh. They gave me the wrong biryani. It just wasn’t a good time. Plenty of room for improvement. For now, keep walking.

The curry took 1 hour and 45 minutes to arrive. But in the meantime we have a lovely cockroach drop down from the ceiling on to our friends arm. This was brought to the attention of the waiter who didn’t care. Curry was bang average also. Food was very over priced for the quality.

Lovely food and order here regularly! The pathia is amazing! Tonight the garlic naan was rock hard, chewy and had cold globs of garlic paste on top that weren’t spread; that was slightly disappointing but didn’t let the rest of the meal down and everything else was top notch, just my one slight criticism but would order again as usual!

This is a Indian restaurant but not for Indians. Very bad behavior from the staff. When we asked to recommend some good vegetarian dish, he suggested us to go to other restaurant. When we asked about wet wipes, he asked us to use washroom because we ate with our hands and hands were oily. If wet wipes doesn't clean our hands that is our problem, we will decide if we further wash our hands in washroom or not . And then he came, kept the wipes on table and went off. Who the hell talks to customer like this. Very Rude staff. Food was ok with average taste.

Make no mistake. The scrans here are so heavy that they warp space time. Which is possibly why the food was late. My partner said, they always take ages. I thought nah! It's a Tuesday. But you know it's authentic Indian because the delivery takes ages. Possibly because a Sherpa is herding that on foot all the way from Dehli. Is the food worth the wait though? Absolutely. We came from London, after a long drive we just needed some good food. The order placed was fine I went and picked it up. we ordered Chicken biriyani King prawn biriyani Garlic naan Both briyani tasted same and Prawn was not cooked as my wife is pregnant she couldn't eat. Rice was bland and garlic naan was so rubbery. please don't kill the name as you put Indian food this was like a some one took cooking as a joke.

What an terrible experience, Dont know where to start with No greeting or smile from any staff, felt like staff was very not interested and rude specially to Indian customers. No communication with food, my food was uncooked The food was very low standard, literally on the name of Raita you will get hardly two spoons of yoghurt with few pieces of cucumber. Asked few times for water but never got it. For first 30 min no one come to take order, after 1 hours and 38 min foods comes which is under cooked and stale, Only the good part of the food was breads. Rest is in peace please Dont waste your money nothing personal but they need to lift game up, I wish I could tell this to manager but he was roaming around very not interested with hands in pocket and Chewing something in his mouth, because of that he can’t even talk.
