It is not bad as a community place to help many people in need. The food and drink was nice but ee would like our meals close to same time.

Excellent value for money, really enjoyable home made food. Helpful, friendly staff. Again, homemade 'cakes & buns' to die for. And what's more all in a really good cause. It just goes to prove that you do not need a fancy menu, posh decor and the latest gadgets to be really good. Thanks all, I will be back. highly recommended.

Visited the cafe. Was very impressed. They cook decent food that tastes proper (cooked with kindness) Met the Day team and night team It is worth mentioning the ethos of the Cafe & how it works. The food a donation of £10 pays for a bed a home Cooked meal & breakfast. £5 will pay for a healthy homecooked meal for someone who may simply be unable to afford it.

This is the second time I have been to sparks and it is becoming a firm favourite. The first time was for breakfast, they do excellent bacon sandwiches and the eggs benedict was one of the best ones I had. The lunch menu was equally as good with the sweet chilli halloumi wrap and an incredible yet simple tuna and cheese toastie. And to top it off the homemade cakes were the perfect finish. Don't be put off by its exterior, it is such a unique and wonderful idea with great food and company I would recommend it to anyone

Visited with two colleagues as we want to support this community cafe as it’s name sake Lynne Sparks was a big supporter of our work. Friendly staff and we enjoyed the halloumi wrap, a cheese omelette and a piece of lemon drizzle cake. Cakes are made and donated by customers, helping to raise money for the Resolve charity that helps local people and funds a night shelter. We were happy to pay ‘what we could afford’ and will return! Well done chef manager Bradley. Hope to try the breakfast menu next time!

I've visited Sparks Cafe a few times now, twice had the eggs benedict for which Chef Bradley whisks up a fresh batch of Hollandaise sauce each time. It's delicious! I've also had a wrap and sampled various delicious cakes! It's a fabulous idea - pay what you can for the food. Drinks are a set price at a very reasonable £1 each but pay what you think it's worth/can afford for the food. Any profits go towards the night shelter which is a great cause. The staff really look after my small children, bringing over crayons and colouring books to keep them occupied. It's just a great place to spend time in.

Dropped in on a Saturday with two kids under 5. We were seated quickly by the very attentive and kind staff, who explained how the pay what you want system works and handed us our menus. Very nice breakfast selection, what what me n the kids enjoyed the most were the bakes!! Caramel cupcake and a slice of carrot cake with frosting that was a thing of fantasies 😍😍😍. Son loved the hot chocolate and polished off the entire mug which as as big as his face. Also had an an order of eggs benedict big portion. All in all a great experience.. will be visiting again

I visited the Sparks Community Café on Saturday for brunch with two friends. The staff were friendly and attentive. I asked if I could have avocado on toast and despite this not even being on the menu, the Chef very kindly accommodated my request and even came over to our table to introduce himself and check how our food was - which incidentally not only tasted great but was also very well presented. The Café works on the basis of "pay what you can". The idea being that the donations go towards the charity's Night Shelter which is a fantastic initiative and such a worthy cause. I am already planning my next visit to the Café!

Recently attended a networking event and learnt about the works of the Sparks Community Cafe. It’s a fantastic initiative supporting a night shelter which is run after the cafe closes until it reopens the next day. The food in the cafe was better than expected and the menu has plenty of variety. I had the eggs benedict. The cafe is set up on a “pay what you like basis” with some recommenced donations. I paid £10 which is said to feed and provide shelter for someone for the evening. If you’re looking for something different this is recommended.

We visited in Sat 28th Sept as it is named after our friend Lynne who sadly passed away. The food is really good, the volunteers are all friendly and welcoming. We had Eggs Benedict, 😋 my sister had a toasted sandwich 😊 and we had several teas and coffees, which I thought were much nicer than other places so they must be using good quality ingredients. Please go along and find out for yourself as I would highly recommend Sparks and it is giving back to the community we are from and live in.

Great quality food and service. Went for sunday lunch, the roast beef was served medium rare which was perfect and the horseradish was the perfect condiment.

This is a beautiful boutique cake shop in Old Welwyn, with the most delicious cupcakes, cakes, sandwiches and afternoon teas. It's run by an absolutely lovely local lady who makes the most amazing bakes! The shop is really pretty and quaint, with beautiful crockery and a lovely friendly vibe in the centre of Old Welwyn. The shop has a fantastic range of cakes and treats, including options for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free, which is brilliant. I often admire their celebration, birthday and wedding cakes online as well - they look amazing (maybe I need to get married again ;) ) Will definitely be back!

Booked a Sunday lunch here with wife, plus doggo in tow (checked ahead to ensure it’s dog-friendly). Upon entering we found the interior rather disconcerting, it’s not a cosy traditional pub dining experience, it has more of a school refectory ambience. But we were immediately greeted by the (apparently, based on reviews) new manager, Tim. Very attentive he was too, we got seated in no time even though we turned up a bit earlier than planned. Orders for drinks and food were efficient (I appreciated the time taken to run the on-tap range of ales/lagers). The mains were standard Sunday beef roasts, with a shared side of cauliflower & cheese. These were both good, the beef in particular was good quality I thought. Desserts were definitely a let-down. Sticky toffee ‘loaf’ (new term to me, usually ‘pudding’) was indeed a loaf-shape, and it was pretty bland, even with a dollop of ice cream. Once the ice cream was gone I could not finish the loaf, too dry. The apple crumble with custard. Hmm, all I could think was how Gordon Ramsay would have a hissy fit, the presentation was so poor. The sample I tasted was ok, but still. Didn’t stay for coffee, my wife drew a line at that after the dessert debacle. Totalled £55 and change, which was thought reasonable. All in all, the experience was ok. Service was efficient and staff were friendly. Work on those desserts guys!
