Sozo in Belfast

Lovely spot. Service was excellent and good was really good. Best burger I had in a while and my wife's chicken gouging were excellent. Young slim dark haired waitress was very attentive and on learning my father was in hospice offered us a free tray bake. Lovely touch and it meant a lot to both of us. Thank you so much. Young lady is a credit to you.

Called in without booking on a Monday just before closing time. Cheerfully switched on the equipment again for us. Thai green curry with garlic pitta and prawn crackers was delicious and beautifully presented with an igloo of rice and a cherry tomato on the top. The chicken goujons were also well presented as a pyramid with side salad, Marie Rose coleslaw and sour cream and chives dip. Service was prompt and cheerful. The restaurant was warm and comfortable on a cold February evening. Worth coming back again.

Excellent food. Great choice for vegetarians too. Staff very efficient and friendly. Atmosphere very good. Highly recommended.

went into this restaurant at 3 pm for a quick coffee and tea, 15-20 min later and still no service, even though there were approx 7 staff on duty and one guy walking about like an ad for a Tattoo Parlour. The girls were pleasant enough but the service was really bad, we will not be back

Been coming here off and on for years whilst home visiting family and service/food is usually good. But last two visits, we experienced poor service. First time, the incredibly rude waitress refused to give myself and partner a booth as they were being 'held for parties of four'. The restaurant was empty. It was empty throughout our meal and when we left. We just put this incident down to a poorly trained member of staff. Second time (roughly a week later), we unfortunately encountered the same rude waitress. Due to her poor service, we had to wait 45 mins for food (no apologies!) When we went to pay, the card reader would not work and the rude waitress said there must be something wrong with both mine and my partners cards as the reader was working perfectly all morning! We assured her our cards were working fine and the machine was faulty. Eventually another member of staff came over and informed us that it was indeed the card reader that was at fault. The rude waitress then directed us to a bank machine up the road but said we would need to leave something of value with her so she could be sure we would return and pay the bill. Evidently we looked to her the type to 'a runner' even though we had been coming to this place for yers. Simply unbelievable. So my partner stayed, I went to machine, return and paid. I asked the rude waitress to speak with the manager, as I intended to bring up her shoddy, embarrassingly poor customer service. To my surprise she said SHE was the duty manger that day! Incredible. How standards have slipped. The staff in here used to be excellent, such a shame. Won't be back.

Food was lovely! Service was a bit slow waited about 40 minutes for food and had plans after. Cocktails were great and very reasonably priced.

Was in Sozo at the weekend with family who had travelled to belfast for a few days. We highly recommended Sozo when they asked where would be good to go for some dinner. I had been looking forward to getting back in as we go regularly and the food has always been top notch. I usually always go for the buttermilk chicken fillet burger which has always been really good up until last weekend. Presentation wise it came out on a little saucer, no side salad or paper wrapping/sauces like it used to. Just a little burger on a little saucer. Didn’t really mind this too much but when I tasted the burger I could tell right away it wasn’t how I remembered. It was usually piece of fillet deep friend and nice and crunchy. Instead it seemed like 2 goujons taking its place. There was also a relish in it that made the bun a bit wet and the overall taste of the burger not so good. I would have said to the staff but didn’t want to cause a fuss as A family member was paying as a thank you for us keeping them for the weekend. Thankfully the other dishes were ok but nothing to rave about unfortunately. Has the chef changed? Or New management perhaps? Anyhoo, I feel the magic of Sozo has dwindled a bit. Hopefully this will be rectified soon.

Myself and my family went to sozo recently. The service and food were 5star. Laura in particular went above and beyond for my mother providing her with a meal that was on a previous menu. We'll certainly be back.

The staff were very pleasant and took care to clean the tables regularly . However the food was just average and the decor and general standard of the place was a bit scruffy. I have no inclination to go back .

Called in a couple of times this week after hearing about the new menu and it has not disappointed! Service has been great and the food has been fantastic, as its our 'local' restaurant I'm glad to see that its had a bit of a change. Give the Shin Shin Burger or the Fish Taco's a try! Also, if your getting a desert make sure to ask for the Vanilla Cream! Cant wait to be back

Sunday Roast was fantastic the stuffing was great. I would highly recommend the takeaway Sunday roast or eat in when that becomes available. Very reasonable price wise as well.

I am sickened to my stomach. Recently went to Sozo, with my niece and my daughter. I signed my name and number at the entrance for the “track & trace“ scheme. To then be asked if everyone was from the same household. As we were, I stated yes. To then be questioned again, “no, I mean are you both in the same household” pointing to my 13yo niece, who might I add is black. I was confused and said “yes??” To then be given a horrible attitude, horrible service and overall an unpleasant visit. I am disgusted. This left my niece feeling miserable and embarrassed. I will never be back to the place and will be telling everyone about this experience. Horrible racist vile man.

Unfortunately the quality and quantity of the breakfasts has taken a nosedive in recent months. It started with patchy offerings but poor offering has now become the standard fare. Avoid as there are better places for breakfast in the area.
