I love this place. Service is awesome and all are genuine. I can't comment whether food is authentic Indian or not as every region in India has different style of cooking and thus taste. But, the taste is awesome and on the top of that if you are pure vegetarian go there without any doubt.

The waiters were apt. They asked us if we wanted the Indian style or belfast style. As we are Asians asked for the real Indian style. The food was really good 👍. Flavours were great. People are great 👍

On the evening I visited the food was fine, service friendly and good. A little pricey perhaps for what it was, but isn’t everywhere? Spacious and good decor.

Nice restaurant and decor in a good location. Food was just ok...not bad but nothing to rave about. Cocktails were lovely. Overall I would say its a bit overpriced, small portions of basic food and also they added service charge to the bill possibly as we were 3 families and there were more than 10 of us but 5 of those were kids. We were the only ones in the restaurant so not much of an atmosphere. Staff were friendly. Wouldn't be in a rush back, much better places to eat in Belfast.

We order occasionally from the Raj, but on this occasion it was awful, took well over an hour to be delivered, and it arrived cold! The Bombay potatoes were hard and enatable, the naan was so cold it was as if it was stale! The jal jal was flavourless no spice to it at all. Really disappointed and will not be returning.

4.2 is a joke. This is an EXCELLENT Indian restaurant. Went to Himalayan restaurant as well for comparison, and this was vastly superior. Do yourself a favor and come here, this is the real deal.

We booked this because it was advertised on their website that the band Tres Hombres was playing on 14.07.2024 but apparently this advert was from 2023 ?? It took them a year to realise that their advertising was out of date. We had taken friends one of which is a food critic based in London who were here visiting .. As soon as we were seated we were informed that they had no sirloin no lamb & only one serving of Gammon left?? Which basically left a slim pickings , granted this is pub grub but come on… Over all this is a very mediocre venue with false advertising (a year out of date) very embarrassing & the next time our friends come back to Belfast we need to up the game.

We stopped last minute for a bite to eat at the Bowery this evening, its was literally a last minute wonder if they have a table for 5. We have been travelling all day and we where delighted they could accommodate us at such short notice. Well, what can I say it was superb on every level, starters and mains where mouth watering, delicious and every bite was heaven. Compliments to the chefs, we couldn't fault any of it. Staff where lovely too and the decor was fab, kids especially loved the bathrooms! We will definitely be back soon. 5 happy satisfied customers 😊

The Raj has top notch service, the food was delicious and the value for money is incredible! I can’t recommend it enough. We were a picky bunch having to pay separately 6 times for food & drinks for work receipts & it was no issue. Clean restaurant & good atmosphere. Next time you fancy an Indian swing by The Raj on the Lisburn Road, it will be sure to satisfy you!

Nothing great about the food here, not bad but average pub grub like a lot of other pubs. It's a large pub on the main road and is busy in the evenings.

Got a Groupon for here as a Christmas present. Everything was fine, staff were friendly, food was ok, nothing exceptional. Tikka Lamb was a bit tough. Won't be back in a hurry, no real fault of their own, but Sonali is just down the street from them, and significantly better a for similar price.

Visited mid week lunch time. First impressions, nice ambience and good service. Food was ok, but my friend’s burger was dry, which was unfortunate. Found prices slightly high for the quality, taste and presentation of food. The worst part was asked for some garlic butter for the chips, only to discover on the bill we were charged £3.50 for the pleasure… (c’mon seriously a bit of melted butter with garlic powder). Probably won’t return as it was underwhelming!

Awful customer service to regular customers. My husband paid our bill and a member of staff followed my father from the bar to say the bill wasn’t paid when it was. Richard of management rang to apologise but was far from sincere given the level of embarrassment caused. Won’t be back and avoid.

Paid a Wowcher for my mum's birthday yesterday, they told her that it wouldn't scan, charged her the full amount for her meal even tho it was a deal ....also it wasn't her fault or mine... If the company is advertised on a website it's not my problem if it doesn't work... Upto the Raj to retrieve the money....my mum was left to pay for her dinner on her birthday... Phoned them and explained the situation said I was extremely unhappy with this... and was told the manager isn't back for 2 weeks lol... So basically no one in charge . Nothing they can do... Absolute joke...ruined my mum's birthday, congratulations 🎉🎉

Had the worst experience during my first and recent visit. The service was horrible and the manager was rather rude even though we were the only ones there. Chicken tikka was loaded with red food color. As an Indian who loves food , the quality of the food I ate there was too low.Will never go back or recommend anyone . You will thank me later !

Had turkey and ham today and it was ,cold,bland, vegetables totally raw, pigs in blankets were white and the bacon undercooked and fatty, there was no ham on our plates but the waitress insisted that there was and seemed very annoyed that we complained, have to say that all the young waitresses were very unprofessional and badly presented..there didn't seem to be anyone who looked professional to manage the matter in hand..paying £40 for 2 dinners that were barely touched seemed like we were completely robbed, we've been here a lot over the years but this is extremely off putting.

It's a beautiful bar inside but the food was awful. I ordered fish and chips, the coating on the fish was undercooked and soggy. It was served with not chips but huge chunky potato wedges which were so overcooked they were dark brown. I believe they had been previously cooked and then reheated, I hardly touched them and just picked at the fish. Such a disappointing meal !

Just called on telephone in regards to preview of Manchester United Match and if there are any football games on screen. I have been apprehensive to go to a bar as I had bad experience in other bars from men which has left me hesitant to go to bars. I want to try somewhere new and get my confidence back and The Bowery seems really lovely. Kasia put me at ease and said I will be comfortable and welcome and that I will be safe in The Bowery, that there's nothing to worry about. She told me about all the menus and drinks specials there was to offer. When I'm ready I can bring myself and a friend and come here knowing that I will be reassured and welcome. We went here last night after a conference. Amazing service right from the moment we stepped in the door. The staff are incredibly skilled at what they do and I appreciate their efforts, it really made our evening special. We ordered the Roshani and Butter chicken alongside naan, poppadoms, chips and pilau rice. Both of the curry's were skillfully made and tasted absolutely fantastic. The naan was perfectly cooked and rather thin which was lovely as it wasn't doughy in the slightest. Staff were attentive and made us feel incredibly welcome the entire time. 10/10 would recommend and we will definitely be back :)

Uncomplicated, unassuming place, serving excellent range of dishes, been a customer for decades, recommended.

Food was fantastic, poor wait staff seemed incredibly nervous and the manager was rather rude. They managed to lose track of half our order. Granted it was a busy evening, but meant that we waited over an hour to eat despite having a reservation. Ended up getting given two separate bills and they weren't sure which I had to pay - so naturally went with the one that had the higher price. Great food ruined by an unfortunate experience, hope it was just a one-off.

Worst restaurant and food I have ever tried. Food here stinks. Rice was not boiled. Chicken was not cooked properly. Service was bad and Food was bad. Don’t recommend it.

Called last Sunday evening with family for my daughter’s birthday. Ordered 2 sharing platters -one beef and one chicken. Food was absolutely delicious. Beautiful gravy as well as pepper sauce and horseradish sauce for the beef. Service might have been a bit slow for some people but suited us fine. Lovely clean setting. Staff pleasant. Would prefer to have choice of starter or dessert and not just starter. Desserts nicely priced and tasty. Will be back.

Starters were all lovely & kids meal a good size and tasty. Unfortunately the frozen green veg and poor meat on the Sunday lunch platter was very disappointing. We left a lot and did let the waitress know we didn’t enjoy it. Staff very friendly and great atmosphere but would not return. Instead of giving 2 starters plus the roast board for 2 people for £55, would be better to charge £55 for the board alone and provide better beef

To start with the positives the food was actually quite nice, most of us got the duck and the sides we ordered were all well seasoned. The cocktails were also well made and enjoyable. Now to get to why we would never go back and never recommend this place to anyone either: We ordered our cocktails and mains at the same time. Cocktails consisted of 2 of the same, one whisky cocktail and what was essentially a bramble. 20 minutes went by and there was no sign of drinks. At this stage none of us were too annoyed as we were in good company. The waitress then approached our table to explain the cocktails would be arriving soon and apologised for the wait stating there was an issue with the docket for the drinks. We said that’s no problem and we weren’t too phased. Another 20 minutes goes by, now waiting around 40-45 minutes and still no drinks, but the food at this point arrives. We at this stage asked about cocktails and the waitress explained there was only one bar tender and he was making them now. I’d like to highlight that there were 4 tables in the restaurant at this point and it had been 45 minutes since we originally ordered. Tables who arrived after us had received drinks and actually had also had second rounds before we received our original drinks. To alleviate the pressure and to make sure we had a drink for our meal (we were not offered water at all) we said don’t worry we’d be happy for you to grab us a bottle of wine, we already have glasses and that should be quick. The waitress goes ahead and orders the wine. We begin to eat our food which was cold but at this point we were just hungry and even though it was cold it was nice. 10-15 minutes go by, now waiting over an hour for any drinks and we are all basically finished our meal and still no wine and still no cocktails. By this stage we are all pretty annoyed as really the bar tender should have been told to make our drinks on the fly given the situation. We cancelled the bottle of wine and let the waitress know the food was cold as nobody actually approached to ask how things were. The waitress in explaining why we didn’t have wine noted the bar tender was making our cocktails so he couldn’t possibly give her the wine so what’s the problem. I’m not sure why it takes a rocket scientist to figure out asking for the bottle of wine as soon as we ordered it and explaining to the bar tender just to pass it over as to speed things up was so difficult. Not to mention, if it was me I’d just go behind the bar and grab it and spoke the docket, or if none of these are an option to ask the supervisor to do it and explain the situation. Not long after a supervisor approaches with our cocktails and sets them down. There was no mention of the wait or the lack of wine or the cold food. She simply put them down and walked away. So no comment on anything after waiting an hour for a drink. Our plates sat on the table empty for around 15 minutes. It was very clear nobody wanted to address the issue, approach us or even give us an apology for what happened. Eventually the supervisor comes back and clears our plates, and asked if we wanted dessert, we politely declined and asked for the bill. We thought at this stage given we received no service whatsoever that the bill might arrive promptly but we waited a good 10 minutes for the bill. We would understand if it was busy but again there were not many tables and there were so many floor staff standing around doing nothing. Again no mention of any issues that had happened at this stage and no apology. Another waitress approached around 5 minutes later and asked if we needed anything, we explained we needed a card machine and then politely explained our disappointment with the service we received. The waitress explained she would get a supervisor but that they were aware our original waitress was upset over everything that happened and that’s why the supervisor took over. When the supervisor approached she told us she did not know anything had happened. We knew that was a lie given what the previous waitress told us. She eventually went on to blame us for not telling her what happened when she took over serving our table. Honestly unimaginable lol I was dumbfounded. If she did not know there was an issue why did she move the other waitress to the other side of the restaurant and serve us herself, and why did another waitress tell us they were all aware of the problems. Madness. I’d like to point out even if she did not know, serving a table their first drink when they’ve finished their meal and seeing there are no other drinks on the table including water should really set off some alarm bells as to why the table never had a drink. Any good supervisor would have noticed that 15 minutes after a table has been sat down never mind after their meals are done. At this stage we asked why she took over serving us if she was not aware anything had happened and noted the waitress previously told us they were aware. She did not know what to say. She explained she would go and take the drinks off the bill, but actually all we wanted was for someone to acknowledge what happened and to apologise. When we explained this she was gobsmacked and dumbfounded that we would want someone to acknowledge the mistakes and apologise and sure enough she did not offer an apology. She asked us what more could we want, she was going to take the drinks off the bill so what’s the issue. I’m not sure why customers need to explain that the issue is: We were offered no explanation or no apology for the 1 hour wait on drinks, the cold food we were served, the lack of urgency in handling the issues and the lack of acknowledgment from a senior member of staff surrounding the level of service which was non existent. As a bit of advice, as soon as the supervisor came to our table with drinks she should have said: Hi everyone, I’m really sorry for the wait on these. It shouldn’t have happened but I will be serving you now so please let me know if there’s anything else I can get you. The original waitress should have explained to us that the cocktails would take a while given the docket was lost on top of the one bar tender available on a Saturday night and as well as cocktails taking longer than usual. Given they may take some time is there anything else she could get us, water or even another drink which would not take so long. She should have been trained to acknowledge that the wine was her saving grace and all she had to do was explain to the bar tender ‘Hey I need this on the fly as these customers have been waiting for a very long time. I understand I can’t come behind the bar but all I need is the bottle of wine, can you pass it to me?’ This would have taken the bar tender 10 seconds to grab and solved so many of the problems. We should never have received the bill without anyone commenting on what happened and the supervisor should have never blamed us for the mistakes which happened. The fact the supervisor was clearly afraid to acknowledge what happened is testament to the professionalism of the staff and the lack of training. The service level is absolutely diabolical and needs a rethink by upper management. I’ll never step foot in the place again especially after hearing how the supervisor spoke to my 60 year old mum with such disregard and disrespect. Disgraceful. The whole point of going out for a meal is for the atmosphere and to receive service otherwise everyone would just order a takeaway. I also have no idea why the supervisor was unable to understand that 1. The reputation of the place is paramount and so things need to be dealt with quickly, 2. The reputation of the place is also paramount in it staying open and being profitable which in turn ensures they all have jobs, 3. That tips are the bread and butter of any one in the service industry and actually you should go above and beyond not just for the customer but to ensure you leave with some extra money in pocket to make your life easier. Honestly baffled. No common sense, no manners and no common courtesy. Never again.

Went here for the Sunday roast sharing platter and it did not disappoint. The starters were great and the roast was delicious. Beef was cooked perfectly.

I don't know why Indians don't have mint dip on menus? But i asked in my online order comments to throw one in... delivered with another lovely pickle dip.Special Biryani, all delicious and delivered within 45mins on a saturday night.

Went for drinks with friends for a catch up, haven’t been in since it was the Albany. Got chatting to the bar tender, Brendan was outstanding, great banter, great service and amazing cocktails! He is a credit to your team. Will definitely be back again for a visit.

This is the second time I've been here, once to celebrate a family birthday and the next to celebrate my own. On both occasions the service and food quality were both excellent. My family told me the food here was the best they had had in an Indian restaurant. I would have to agree! Atmosphere is quiet due to only a few customers eating in, which I cannot understand as the food is top notch, although this was a Monday night so that may be why it wasn't so busy.

As I am pure vegetrain Indian and by recommend by many Indian people I tried Raj. I ordered Veg. Jalfarezi with Paneer, Malai Kofta, Veg. Plater, Jeera Rice & Dal Tadka with Cheese Naan and Sweet Lassi. Quality of food was good. Also in term of taste it was good. The o ly draw back I found was not much variety of Indian food specially for Vegetrain person. I uploded menu to view. My suggestion is to try.

Absolutely lovely food, the kofta was a highlight, good prices and friendly service.

We lived close by so this restaurant is our go to places. You could always enjoy the food. We tried with different types of curry dishes all very good but also very different. If you enjoy spicy food maybe try some of their 5 star dishes, you will love it.
