The pub has so much potential with its location but sadly it’s not very inviting and there wasn’t really any vibe. I know you can expect a pricey pint but £6.10 for a bottle of Corona is ridiculous. Much better pubs in the area, I’d avoid this one.

Ordered few mins before closing the kitchen with this super rude girl on the bar after pushing me to go to find a table she said hurry or the kitchen will close so I ordered beef nachos padrón peppers and chips Padrón peppers arrived with all day old chips from frier Natchos were burnt and without beef because apparently they run out and asking me if I want rather refund And chips were the smallest portion I have seen in London Mitchels and butlers this standard went way too down very sad

Enjoyed my visit to the Southwark Tavern, good food, good wines, great service - especially Ollie who took care of our party well! We will be back soon.

Estábamos en Londres para ver un espectáculo en The Globe Theatre y decidimos tener nuestra cena en Southwalk Tevern, ya que estaba a poca distancia. Reservamos una mesa con antelación, pero cuando llegamos la mesa estaba siendo utilizada comprar otros clientes. La camarera les pidió que se mudaran al otro lado del pub. No nos dijeron que necesitábamos pedir nuestra comida en el bar y nos sentamos durante unos diez minutos esperando que alguien tomara nuestra orden. Mi esposa decidió ir al bar y descubrió que era de donde teníamos que pedir. Mi esposa y dos hijos adolescentes pidieron fish & chips y fui por el filete de solomillo. El fish & chips llegó primero y parecía que había estado en un horno durante varias horas, sin embargo, todos comen allí comida y lo disfrutan. Desafortunadamente mi filete era muy duro y masticable. Considerando que pagamos más de £ 100 no volvería a comer aquí de nuevo. Espero que un pub / restaurante proporcione buena comida a un nivel mucho más alto que esto.

Had time to kill in London Bridge , so was looking for somewhere to eat and drink , and this was perfect , close to the station with a great selection of beers and a great menu , the barman ollie was amazing , talked me through the menu and all the different beers on offer , it’s so lovely and refreshing when someone is so knowledgeable and clearly interested in there job. Happily made the right decisions and food and beer hit the spot perfectly. I’ve found my new favourite bar in London Bridge.

The pub has a really nice atmosphere, the original painted windows, has a lot of light upstairs with plant and the downstairs area with the old cells turned into booths. The team was nice and welcoming as well, with good recommendations.

Ollie offered me £60 to do the review - I'd have done it for less.

Really nice pub always pop in when in the area. Great ambience and very friendly vibe would have to give a special mention to barman Oliver who is always so friendly and helpful even when the pub is really busy.

I walked by and had a beer. The clerk was very enthusiastic in recommending all kinds of wines. Guinness is very delicious❤️The sausage and mashed potatoes are also delicious😋 I like very energetic, smiling and enthusiastic clerks

The clerk introduced each wine very enthusiastically, so that we would not feel the language barrier. It is a recommended place for drinking. We just came in to have a beer and relax without eating any meals. The price was very reasonable.

I popped in to the Southwark Tavern after a day out in Borough mkt, one of the bar staff (think his name was Ollie). What a great guy, great service & crCked a few jokes too… he’s defo worth a mention.

Never been to this pub before but I was blown away by the customer service, especially this chap named Oliver. Answered all my questions and was very helpful! Food was also great. Will go again :)

Had a great experience, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely and chilled and our server cara went above and beyond for us. She was brilliant addressing allergies, and dealing with our additional requests and was super friendly and helpful. She made our experience 10/10

So here is the score with the place: I walk in asking for alcohol free beer. Given choice of two, chose one. Thrn I say: can I have one on draft? Yes no problem respond was. I tap the card, grab my 0% and walk outside where other 2 of my party were waiting for table to be cleaned. We sat down and someone walked over picked up my beer and spilled it all over the table. Table had big gaps so my jeans smelled like beer all day. Still waiting g for my pints I walk back to the bar and ask where is it. Reply: I didn't put it through. Ok I say. Let's do it then. Paid £8 for another beer, finally grab it, barman asks how was my day so I told him it was amazing till I walked in this place. Explained how we were treated, we have a staff member staring us down like we want to do a runner. Then we were told we can only sit for 30 mins if we not having food, which we planned just 10 mins really but since it took them 30 min to pour one pint in the we literally had to neck it get up and go. Guy was looking at us like pitbul would into the butchers window. He was prepared to jump. I think someone forgot to tell him we only have a pint and we already paid. Everyone was staring like we were there to run away. Most unpleasant experience I ever ever had in any food place. McDonalds treats you nicer. I honestly was utterly shocked and uncomfortable with staredowns of some of the staff. They truly made my family feel unwelcome and we just got up and went. What is this place I dont know but they truly could do with some customer service training.

March 25 Beware of thieves in this area..Had my rucksack stolen in the Southwark Tavern at 5pm in afternoon. Reported to police. Cards were being used within 15 mins in Walworth. Fortunately I am able to block majority on my Phone to minimize inconvenience but it's not a nice feeling. Was sitting near the exit door and bag on floor by chair. Obviously distracted and it was gone. Lessons learned. Keep your bag secure near you and within eye sight. Pub has CCTV but only the police can access it. Limited help can be offered by bar. Dec 24 Goodpub near borough market. Big atmosphere and good environment. Very busy on a Thursday managed to get a table and service good. London prices but worth the effort. Enjoy.

A fantastic bar that transports you back in time. Lots of nooks and crannies to find a table in! We had a late lunch so some things had sold out, but more fool us for having lunch after 3pm! Really lovely.

Great beer, friendly service,and a great vibe. This is more of a drop in place than a regulars' bar as it gets the passing trade from Borough Market. Nonetheless, it has a great vibe.. The food is on the decent side of standard pub food. I like this bar a lot.

Music was far too loud. Don't understand why they have club volume music in some pubs these days. Had to leave early due to the headache.

We went to the market to eat and there was such a crowd of people that we ended up entering the pub almost accidentally. We were two families (8 people) and we were able to go downstairs to some warehouse-type spaces that were spectacular, both for the atmosphere and the comfort. You ordered upstairs and they brought the food down to you. Good quality and service, with a reasonable price for London.

Pedí dos pintas de cerveza, salieron planas, les dieron el beneficio de la duda y aun así las bebieron, cuando pedí las dos siguientes salieron exactamente igual, le llevé las bebidas de vuelta al barman y les pedí que las cambiaran explicando que estas pintas y la ronda anterior eran planas el barman me argumentó que como podía ver unas cuantas burbujas canallas por lo tanto no era plana, me rechazó y muy groseramente y arrogantemente dejó de hablarme y dirigió su atención a otro cliente. Le pregunté cortésmente y tranquilamente por qué estaba actuando tan grosero. No estaba siendo ruidoso u hostil. Estaba explicando muy tranquilamente la situación en la que mi compañero también trató en vena de hablar con él. Fue extremadamente grosero y desdeñoso y parecía opinar que el comercio turístico no se quejaría y si no nos gustaba nos invitaba a ir a otro lugar, que es exactamente lo que hicimos! Actitud terrible y aconsejaría a cualquiera que desee conseguir una cerveza decente y personal decente del bar que evite este lugar a toda costa. Realmente me tambaleé. No fui grosero iracundo ni ruidoso. No podría haber sido más educado y me trataron con absoluta falta de respeto.

Many small cellar rooms downstairs, quite cute, perfect for small groups, also have a tv for each area

The cellars downstairs are a great space, but not being looked after properly: lots of mould growing over the walls. Fish and chips tasted microwaved. Decent pint of cask ale though.

We came to the pub to watch the Six Nations and found an available table with no reserved sign—perfect for the game. Arriving two hours early, we made sure to secure our spot and have dinner. Unfortunately, an hour before kickoff, the staff suddenly placed a reserved sign on our table and asked us to leave 30 minutes before the match. This felt unfair, especially since other tables were clearly marked as reserved. Had we known, we would have gone elsewhere. Next time, please inform customers before they order if a table is already reserved!

2024-01-24 Service are so kind and attentionate, they are so listening and are ready to bend over backwards to strike the most satisfying arrangement posssible for their guests. Artiom and team have been helpful all along, over the phone the day before to arrange the booking, providing all the information required, and once we were there the day after they provided the perfect lunch experience for our group of 14 from Paris, who spoke very little english. We have loved how we were seated, what we have eaten, the good choice of starters, shearers, small plates, mains, desserts and beers and other drinks, and we have enjoyed to the most every minute that we have spent at the Tavern. And just next to one of the main entrances of the Borough market, yet not as crowded at one might have expected. And the round façade, so unique. Just brilliant, the whole of us 14 reccomend not to miss this spot, should you be looking for a good London Pub experience. And a perfect spot from where to enjoy the striking view of the Shard against good old London's buildings (see picture attached). (Clairfication: the 5/5 rating is relative to this class of place, i.e. I am not comparing it with a three stars Michelin, but with other traditional London pubs. Cheers.)

Great place for a variety of beers in the heart of London close to the Shard. Super friendly staff and great atmosphere! Got one of the best service I have recieved in London from the guy named Ollie. He is a keeper and company should acknowledge that. True bar tender! Highly recommended.

Spacious and well-kept place, tables also on the -1 floor. Good scotch egg and chicken roast. Scotch egg + chicken roast + a beer = £34, generous portions. In hindsight I would have satisfied myself with just the roast chicken
