Southport Chinese in Sefton

Had some food from here for the first time on the basis of a positive recommendation. Looks like they put more effort into the menu than the food, it's 36 pages long and glossy as anything. The food was not. I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba Noodles, there is actually a picture on the mammoth menu which looks quite appetising, what I received bore no resemblance whatsoever. It was just a big box of bland noodles with a miniscule amount of bland chicken knocking about. Literally tasted of nothing. Also was advertised as "spicy", I'd wager nothing related to a chilli went near the wok. I could do better with my eyes closed, and £13.95 for a takeaway main?! I know a host of places I can get top class Asian food for a fraction of that. Clearly the place has good reviews and is still in business at those prices, so I don't know if I got the new guy in the kitchen or something, but it was BAD. I would have given it another punt and ordered something else if the prices weren't a rip off, but there's plenty of places where I know I'll get a good meal. Will not be back.

When we decide to grab a takeaway we usually go for convenience and therefore choose a local takeaway business. This time we decided to try Straits Kitchen as friends and family had recommended it. The service was impeccable, order placed easily due to a well informed menu, the recipient of the call made it very clear as to time to arrive and phone when you park up, they asked you to stay in car and brought everything out to you (COVID measures) which we thought was appropriate. The food was delicious, very tasty and filling, nothing was wasted. The sauces with the meals tasted fabulous. We had boneless pork ribs in Cantonese sauce, duck spring rolls with hoisin sauce and shared a main meal chicken in garlic chilli sauce. We truly recommend Straits Kitchen fir those looking for tasty food and great service. Thank you Peter and Donna.

Last Saturday we dicided to celebrate Lunar New Year of the Ox by getting a take-away supper. I scouted arund the internet and decided to try The Straits Kitchen in Lytham Road because it is close to home and we had not tried it. The website is very clear and upfront about the Covid precautions which was reassuring: Order by phone, agree a time, wait outside and phone on arrival, food is brought out to you. Menu was more interesting than the run of Chines take-aways. There are quite a few Japanese dishes and a few Chines ones which were unfamiliar to us. We settled on a vegetable noodle dish, sweet and sour chicken and a chicken dish with cashews. Unusually there is a number of desserts available too which we would not normally have chosen but we noticed that they offer Portugeuse Custard Tarts. Now, I have had these in Portugal, Macao and several time sin UK so we included these in our order. As they were very busy on Saturday and we did not want to wait unditl 9pm to eat they offered to prepare our order early and asked us to collect at 4.55pm, just before they opened. We were impressed with the organisation and service. Unfortunately the food was a disappintment. Sweet and sour chicken was tough and stringy and the other dishes were very run of the mill. The custard tarts were a rip-off: nothing like Portugeuse tarts- just plain egg custard tarts available from any supermarket Will we give them another chance? Unlikely.

I contacted to request a surprise meal for my dad and family, I live in Yorkshire so couldn't visit. He is 84 today. They were so accomodating, can't thank them enough.

This was my very first visit to Straits Kitchen - an Asian takeawy with a difference. Their online presence is poor and I struggled to find & read a menu. When I did locate the menu, my first thoughts were about the prices - top end for a takeaway, with main dishes up to nearly £20. But the online reviews were good, so I decided to "tread cautiously" and order a meal for one to "test the water". At about 5.30 pm on a Wednesday evening, I phoned my order and was advised it would be about 30 minutes. I duly arrived and the food was ready as stated. Service was professional, friendly & efficient. A good start. As this was during the Covid19 "lockdown", exchange of food carrier bag & payment was handled thoughtfully & professionally - the owner bringing the food out of the venue to my car & placing it directly in my boot. Physical distances were maintained. All very reasuring. The modern-looking and spotlessly-clean venue is on Lytham Road, Marshside - easy to find once you know where, but otherwise tucked-away out of sight for many people! I collected a menu, which is very attractively designed - a quality touch, giving sufficient descriptions of each dish and some amazing food photographs - it will have you drooling! I chose: Salt & Pepper Pork Steak Ribs - which were boneless. The "small" portion was £8.95 Japanese Sweet & Sour Chicken - gluten free tempura chicken with a glazed sauce. The "small" portion was £8.95 and Egg Fried Pearl Rice. Portion sizes were fine for one. I was comfortably full after my meal. Flavours were delicious. Ingredients top quality and the level of cooking far superior to any other Chinese take aways Ihave tried in Southport. It really was an eye-opener. In summary the food is relatively expensive, but is attractively presented, freshly cooked and a quality, falvourful experience. I will be returning and treat myself again. The range of food on offer is extensive and has some amazing sounding dishes, which I am confident would be delicious. Think Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Singaporean & Chinese. PRO TIP: 2 x "small" dishes and rice are sufficient for one. For "small" read "regular" for portion size.

I had the Singapore noodles. Hot, fresh and delicious. The king prawns are so good. The owner is super friendly and professional. Definitely worth every penny and the pick up 😍

Having not had a Chinese takeaway for three years, since moving to Southport, we have finally found one hidden away just half a mile from where we now live. Straits was recommended to us and is a little gem. The food is lovely and the service is excellent, although not cheap. My only tiny gripe is that prawn crackers, which I've found are normally given free with your order, are charged for here and are quite expensive in my opinion.

Love this take away. Although it's more expensive than most take aways, the food is exceptional and portions are large so it's well worth it. We tend to have this as a treat every couple of months and I look forward to it and am never disappointed.

We ordered a take away recently & to say we were disappointed was an understatement. The chicken dishes (one Cantonese & the other yellow bean) The chicken was defrosted chicken that was rubbery & the sauce was a sweet syrupy jar type sauce. No defining flavour... No veg, no onions nothing. It was so disappointing. The spring rolls we ordered (one veg & one sesame) were very nice. The best dish on the table was the prawn Malaysian curry. The service was good & friendly but we spent over £60 and it was to expensive for what we got. I'm very sorry to have to write a review like this when the place came so highly recommended.

Always busy this place. We used to go 8 years ago when we lived this side of town, went again twice recently and the food hasn’t changed, still fantastic quality. The Thai lime soup is probably my favourite ever soup. Cantonese beef and the noodles were also fantastic. I could afford to order from here all the time, but certainly one of the best Oriental restaurants in Southport.

I have been getting food from here for many years now and the meals are always fantastic. SImon and Sandra are always warm and welcoming, the dishes themselves are always very tasty and you haven’t lived until you have tasted the spring rolls. Number one choice for a Saturday night takeaway. Iwill be back very soon.

Absolutely gorgeous food excellent customer service a little expensive but well worth it ordered a sweet and sour extra crispy and it was gorgeous most definitely be going again

You won't find better takeaway Chinese/Japanese etc food in Southport. Never fatty or salty etc. Extensive range of meats, sauces and styles. Food always hot and ready to collect at the selected collection time.

I have used this Take away restaurant for 30 years. No MSG or other nonsense in the dishes. Quality food, that is a little more pricey, but I am happy yo pay for excellent food

We’ve had a few meals from here and they’ve always been lovely. Very tasty food and good that you can choose what size meal you’d like. I’ve never spoken to anyone that hasn’t liked it here.

Las cosas con un buen comienzo con nuestra sopa de ternera japonesa que era sabrosa, con un montón de tiras de carne. El chili amarga corporales estaban bien pero no discernible sabor de Chile. El pan frito wonton paquetes corporales eran buenas. La lubina chili era de un tamaño razonable, pero un poco demasiado salsa de soja un poco mimado el plato. Mi plato de Chi Yin gambas era tan salada que era incomible. También encontramos que el huevo frito arroz japonés para ser seco, insípido y bastante pesado. Los fideos yakisoba picante sólo sabía de salsa de soja y también eran muy salada. Nos pasamos más de 50 libras en esta comida para llevar para que es bastante caro. No me hubiera importado el precio si no hubiera tenido que tirar mucho de la comida. Ellos describen sus comidas como más saludables porque no utilizan el GMS, pero el contenido de sal hizo su comida, pero nada! No hace falta decir que no volveremos.

Una Nochebuena tratan mejor parte no venía en forma de esta comida para llevar. Desde el arroz pegajoso y perfectamente cocinado a través de los spring rolls increíbles de langosta, cada bocado era genial.

Tengo que decir que este es el 2 estrellas Michelin de los chinos comida para llevar. El GMS no y la preparación de los alimentos está impecablemente limpio. Tengo un sienten inclinación por la Chu Yin combinación. (King empeño y pollo en salsa de ajo) aunque todos los platos son preparados a un muy alto nivel. más caro que la mayoría, pero se puede decir la calidad en la primera finos.

Este es el único lugar de manera que una comida para llevar. Sinceramente, la comida es simplemente increíble, el pollo se deshace en la boca. Las raciones (incluso pequeñas) son lo suficientemente grandes para 2 con entrantes.

En el juego, yo diría que éste realmente es muy distinto a su llevar convencional. No tuvimos que esperar en la cola junto a una selección de alimentos fritos esperando su turno para volver a casa con un delicioso capricho envuelto. En su lugar fue muy civilizada, un corte limpio casi enfoque clínico de preparación de los alimentos. Después de haber disfrutado de Simon y su equipo antes. Sin duda alguna recomendaría. Tienen un muy buen menú en línea en el que ver y elegir su selección de comidas en nuestro caso una familia de 8 en esta ocasión. El tiempo de espera solo te permite saber que si lo que quieres es una comida por un cierto tiempo, pedido por adelantado, en la justicia era sábado por la noche. Así que durante nuestra esperar que podíamos sentarnos, relajarnos y descansar sabiendo que todo estaba en la mano. Como no teníamos mucho ir ya que estaba visitando a parientes cercanos. A la llegada es una entrada bien largo, excepcionalmente limpias y recibidos en la recepción en contraposición a un mostrador, al menos eso es lo que parecía. Esperamos en el área viendo el fútbol mientras espera. Ahora que he mencionado en el comienzo es equivalente a los precios del restaurante pero cuando ves que su comida no es sólo empaquetada en SK cartones ( dependiendo de su elección de comida) no sólo entregados a usted todo asegurado en un nítido buen tamaño manipulados contenedor para llevar toda nuestra comida sin la preocupación de platos se derrame o sueltas extraviado. Sabes mucho esfuerzo ha ido en la preparación. Así que cuando llegamos a casa a salir nuestra gran selección de alimentos para servir allí era más de una suficiente para alimentar a los hambrientos quedamos estupefactos esperando! Yo estaba más que contentos con nuestra elección. Es agradable como un lujo, pero me encantaría volver más de salsa en la comida, ya que algunos platos había sido una pequeña seco que yo personalmente habría preferido pero en esta visita me estaba tratando una selección diferente, pero sé que la calidad que nunca he podido entregar. que lo disfrutes y vale la pena la espera

Realmente nos hubiéramos encontrado este lugar antes! La comida era absolutamente fantástica. La carne estaba claramente buena calidad al contrario que en la mayoría de los otros comida para llevar y muy tierna y sabrosa. La perla del arroz es el mejor que he probado en mi vida. delicioso de taaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

Don't often use takeaway but I will use this one again. The food was just fabulous. The large portion was big enough for 2 and you could tell that they use really good ingredients. Extremely tasty. Would not hesitate to recommend

Sin duda la mejor comida para llevar. La comida siempre es deliciosa y el servicio es excelente. Me he convertido a unos amigos de usar este para llevar y una vez que han convertido nunca querrá usar diferente comida para llevar. Asegúrese de reservar con antelación para un gran orden durante los fines de semana ya que a veces puede llegar a estar muy concurrida ya que es muy popular. Un poco más caro que otros sitios, pero sin duda vale la pena!! Mejor dulce y amargo (les aconsejo estilo japonés) que he probado jamás! No te decepcionará!

Sorry this really disappointed me I've had thai chicken curry before and this was not good at all it smelt and tasted like cheese although they were very quick to replace the food which is a positive I won't be going back sorry

Cocina de estrecho o comer en SK es sin duda el mejor lugar para pedir comida oriental del área. Comida fresca con más bajos que las grasas, gran servicio y único. Una vez que han estado aquí es casi seguro que deja el típico viernes, sábado o domingo para llevar mixto, garantizada.

Después de encontrar este restaurante en la Internet y oír un montón de buenas recomendaciones, ii tenía muchas ganas de ir aquí. Pedí una pizzería noddle raymen de lima de la sopa. Me decepcionó bastante. El stock estaba muy distintos estilos sabrosos, pero los ingredientes carecían de sabor a £10.00 por una sopa un poco caro. Por desgracia, no regresar al aquí de nuevo para otra visita.

Hemos comido aquí antes y especialmente de las chili patatas fritas. Sólo me comí pollo y mariscos. Pollo me pareció un poco correoso aquí. Pedimos los fideos de Singapur esta noche que Estados Unidos en el menú contiene pollo y gambas. Pero me pareció cerdo. Lo mencionado nada de cerdo. No era nada contento. No comer el plato y no iba a viajar todo el camino de vuelta. Realmente decepcionado

Found this little gem over a year ago now. It has become our take away of choice and a regular on most Saturday nights. Food is great (restaurant quality) and Sandra and Simon are always helpful with nothing to much trouble for them.

The food here is brilliant, they offer a good selection of dishes and every time I've ordered I've had excellent food.

Estuvimos una semana en southport, mi primera vez para visitar el lugar donde llegamos tarde por la noche, así que nos fuimos a cenar y esta señal que parpadea del edificio del restaurante nos atrapó. era un restaurante chino justo en el corazón de la ciudad. El personal era muy acogedor y muy servicial. Nos dieron nuestros pedidos y la comida eran preciosos y llena nuestro hambrienta estómago por un precio razonable. Después de pagar la factura, el dueño nos dio una hermosa gran calendario chino decorada para 2014. ¿Qué es un pequeño y amable gesto para nosotros? Este restaurante nos hicieron sentir como en casa en el lugar y lo recomendaría encarecidamente este restaurante quienquiera que un día le vienen a visitar Southport, Reino Unido.

He estado viniendo a esta para llevar durante años. Era difícil cuando cerraron para un 9 mes reformas, unos años atrás. Durante este tiempo, abrieron otro establecimiento en Manchester. no utilizan el GMS y la comida es sencillamente excepcional.

Muy buena pizzería, restaurante comida de calidad en la comodidad de su propio hogar. Los tamaños de las porciones son buenas y las costillas eran fantásticas y deshuesada para ti =) fabuloso, fabuloso! Asegúrate de colocar su pedido con antelación porque es muy popular! Teníamos un 25 millas viaje ida y vuelta y bien vale la pena el viaje en coche.

Si tienes la oportunidad de darle un vistazo a la cocina, usted verá que los chefs incluso desgaste higiénicos máscaras! vivo en el otro extremo de Southport pero me encantaría pasando sólo Dios sabe cuántos otros diferente comida para llevar a conseguir mi comida desde aquí. precioso fresco, comida sabrosa, extremo superior de la escala de precio pero vale cada centavo. porciones generosas, siempre amable y atento servicio. Lo llamamos la "pijo chinos" como sus ligas delante de nuestro sitio local. no hacen entrega, así que en coche 5 millas, pasando sobre otras 3 comida para llevar chinos para llegar allí. Sin duda lo recomiendo.
