south Star Cafe in Carmarthenshire

Ordered takeaway from here for a treat and for my mission to try food from everywhere , the ratings were ok on just eat so thought it looked ok . The food was just awful I’m Sorry when I have to write bad reviews but it’s just not good enough when people pay a lot of money . We ordered different stuff to try , the single and double smash burgers were honestly cheap and not good at all 2 cheap pattys with plastic like cheese and a bit of brown lettuce the bun was the only acceptable part . The nachos were also not good unmelted cheese and watery salsa and a few jalapeños was it for toppings . The chips were soggy and unappetising. The worst was the deluxe hot dog , a burnt bratwurst in a baguette not a bun with sad little cut up pieces of bacon and more unmelted cheese bizzare toppings for a hot dog , the worst part of the dish was the mass amounts of soggy crispy onions that it was actually covered in . The smell when you opened the box was very unappetising. The cookies were fine but it’s hard to mess that up . Most of the food was thrown away .not sure if it’s cared about less because it’s takeaway and not eat in but still money and should be handled with same care. Won’t be ever trying again tbh it’s just not acceptable .

Just...alright. Fries cooked from frozen, not real chips. Over charged for the pop. Don't think we'll bother ordering again. Combo box and curry with fries, and 1 can of pop was £23.66 with 10% discount. At least we tried somewhere local to try and support them instead of buying from a chain, but they need to work on the quality to keep customers, and not just serve the food in a big box to make it look like a bigger portion. ;-)

Food didn’t arrive, called half an hour after the designated waiting time and was told it was on its way. When called again and hour later they said it hadn’t left yet and told another half hours wait after waiting 3 hours for a BREAKFAST.. ended up cancelling the order and now can’t get refund. Clearly they can’t run water let alone a cafe. AVOID.

Ordered food delivery from user eats. Steak peas and chips. Cheese and bean tostie sides and desserts. Both me and my daughter couldn't eat our food the dog ate the stak as it was like cardboard it came with salad instead of peas and the chips were poor.my daughters beans were brown and watery. The waffle wasn't cooked and was literally raw it had no fruit on it despite its description of slced bannas. I was contacted to be advised that they had no strawberry for my daughters but then it arrived also without the banana and had what looked like chocolate sauce with cornflakes on not aomething i want to eat and definately not worth 7 pounds. I never write reviews but this was appalling. Disgusting to serve food like this. Definitely don't recommend

Absolutely stunning breakfast!!! I visited here whilst working in the area doing tree work in Llanelli, we where soaked to the skin and fancied a nice breakfast, I can honestly say this is one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had really good quality bacon, sausages and eggs, i went cor a big breakfast and it was stunning and very cheap too, I’ll definitely be back keep doing awesome food!!!

Ordered 2 Chicken Curries half & half through Just eat it's literally just been delivered and we're done already . The Curry watery tasteless , probably the worst I've ever had , rice again no flavour and in lumps , even the chips were average. Avoid here if you have taste buds or remotely care about what you eat . Very poor ! ! !

Popped in here on sat 1st Feb for breakfast and so glad we did, had a lovely welcome and the breakfast was delicious, hot and extremely reasonable £3.65 for a small breakfast which wasn't small at all and included coffee ! We will be back next sat.

The carvery here is nothing short of spoton,melt in the mouth meat with lashings of gravy with real beef flavour struck a note with me,me and my mother love to eat out at carveries because they are good value and the South Star is one of the best places for a good carvery.

Yummy! Attentive staff. Really good quality food. Chilli was awesome and so was the huge breakfast. The children enjoyed their meals also. Defo recommend

We didn't actually go in. The outside was enough. We have passed a few times in the past 2 weeks and just outside the front door is only what can be called a rubbish dump. Surely they could clear it away!!!!

Easily the best in Llanelli, tried the others and they do not compare, others do not have mushrooms or black pudding, and the bacon and sausages are awesome and perfectly cooked, ample parking and friendly staff and not forgetting the lovely coffee.

Brill food, great service, amazing staff,clean and tidy place,lovely crowd of people, plenty of parking spaces.

Two take away medium breakfasts excellent value cooked as I required with poached egg beans 1/2 n 1/2 potatoes & hash browns 2 sausage mushrooms &2 thick slices of bacon. Lovely

Visited yesterday,on a recommendation.Had a medium breakfast,and its got to be the best breakfast i have ever had.The number of items on the plate, and the presentation was totally amazing.The bacon(which has been mentioned before) ,was wonderful.The decor,cleanliness,and staff all contributed to a wonderful meal in a quiet environment.Highly recommended and will call again soon.

Best breakfast I've had in a good while! Everything cooked perfectly, lovely sized portion and the bacon... don't even get me started! Verry happy carpenter!

Called for breakfast . With mr green & my daughter first time I had been there I have to say the breakfast was lush . I will be calling again friendly service food really nice & a clean venue

Definately the best value for money breakfast in town.And as I work in the building industry have pretty much tried them all.The Omelettes are very good here too.Would highly recommend.

Just had another wonderful meal in the south star. Great quality food, cooked well, great portion sizes are huge. Well worth a try.

i am very fussy about my breakfast, I always go for the medium, the breakfast is not greasy, fresh mushrooms, black pudding, sausages, bacon, beans & tomatoes or 1/2 each, hash. Brown or potatoes, egg(cooked however you want it) fried bread or toast and refillable tea/coffee.....service always good and quick......would recommend you try it

I'm so glad that Liz is now on TA. I have been coming here since she took over and gave the place a total make over both as a venue and food wise.The eating area is in essence the past Lounge area of the pub, it is now clean and warm. The staff here are always friendly and helpful.The food and in particular the full Welsh is 'Spot on' with every element of the complex structure of what is a fabulous breakfast is amazing. I once tried the large but failed miserably to finish., so I now stick to the medium. In that you have two sausages which are great,and very tasty mushrooms, black pudding which has just the right amount of spice and a choice of fried potatoes or hash brown. Initially I always went for the pots but having been recommended to try the hash browns I 'be not looked back, as well as that there are bean and toms or both which are again superior quality arranged not store vale. You can also have toast and fried bread which all together compliment a taste tangling sensation and the cherry on the top is the super thick bacon which you'll struggle to find any better anywhere else. I'm going on now so as I say above love breakfast. love the South Star. Try it once, you'll be back! Promise. Top job Liz

Cracking meal served with mushy peas. Definetly call again. £4.95.Had the medium breakfast as well great way to start the day. £4.50 with free refills of tea & coffeeService & food excellent
