Spent a lovely Saturday here with work colleagues for the South Shields v Marine FC match. We had a prime table in the Shipley Lounge where we were feed, watered and got to watch the game from the comfort of some nice warm seats. The food was delicious, the chicken was cooked to perfection and the dauphinoise potatoes, little creamy dreams! Dessert was a winter comfort classic, bread and butter pudding with custard, which topped the meal off nicely. The service from all the staff was spot on, cheery and helpful and the fact the lads won just made the day even better! A fantastic day out at a great little club!

Filtrona park or as it now known as ‘cloud arena’ is home to South Shields FC, a team with big ambitions football wise. The addition of a marquee adds the revenue from events, parties or weddings. We were impressed by the venue and staff and the dj, buffet hot and cold.

Staff very friendly and helpful, on email and phone, when booking up and then when seeking directions and layout clarification. Restaurant very clean and, again, staff very friendly and helpful. Carvery roast was very tasty and plenty of it. Would request, however, that the plates are kept hot 😡 Desserts were superb and plentiful. Very reasonably priced too. All around good experience, thank you.

Heard about the Sunday lunchtime menu via social media and we decided to give it a try. Definitely not disappointed Choice of THREE ROASTS and an array of Veg all piping hot and well presented. Gravy was delicious too I cleaned my late The offer included a choice of sweets. We both chose the Apple Crumble and custard and both agreed it could have been a little hotter but was polished of with gusto. £6:95 each…..unbelievable value. Seek out this little gem, you won’t be disappointed

50 Dean RoadThis is normally one of my favourite curry houses in South Shields but last night was such a disappointment. The curries ordered were nice however we waited over 50 minutes for our main courses. Nobody updated us till the last minute. One server was lovely and let us know just before it came out. We had barely sat down and they wanted our drinks order, and didn't give us long to look at the menus before they were asking for our order. Which was annoying since the food took so long. I had to ask for water twice before it came as well. The manager seemed very odd and was just standing around watching and staring. The staff were all congregated around the bar and they kept looking over at our table and talking which made us feel quite uncomfortable. The general atmosphere was very strange and there wasn't the usual buzz that there is in the other shields curry houses.

8 East StreetVisiting Savannah and went for the wife. I waited in line for 30+ minutes only to be told to move all the way past the displayed flavors when I got to the front. I tried a sample of rum bisque and hated it, then could not see anything else because the people behind me were pushed up against the glass. I felt like a sheep. It was an extremely uncomfortable experience and not worth the hype.

2 Hobsons WayTable booked for 7.30pm. Pub very messy, no carvery left. Told a 45 minute wait for food. Cued at bar, staff member very friendly and helpful. I asked if they had any chicken dinners left, she said not sure, I'll check. She asked another staff member who listed things not available (chicken not among them). So I ordered 2 dinners and 2 drinks. 15 minutes later staff member came over to say no chicken dinners so had to re-order. Staff member not really bothered when I complained. Still waiting for food, not impressed! Won't come again!
