My friend and I have been looking for somewhere nice to take our baby’s swimming. I live locally so thought this would be perfect! We had to call to book and pay over the phone which was strange. Shame we can’t just show up. The pool was nice, and clean and warm however, the changing rooms were FREEZING! After swimming we wanted to have something light to eat so we nipped in the restaurant. It was dark and old fashioned and empty. I’m not surprised. It was 1pm on a weekday and the menu was more of an evening menu. No sandwiches or cake to have with a coffee. But they had bangers and mash and steaks? Not what you fancy after swimming at all. And wasn’t cheap. I’d rather travel 20 minutes to another centre that has better facilities and a cafe for after. What a shame.

Been a member of the gym for 6 months now. The machines are not being serviced despite concerns being raised by gym users. Some of the machines have been broken for months and other are in a state of disrepair. Treadmills now faulty too. I am concerned that someone will suffer an injury before the issues are addressed. I am already looking for another gym as all complaints are “falling on deaf ears”.

Came with my son for the first time yesterday after seeing lots of people I know going here. Had to book via phone, an online booking system would update the place. Easy to check in on arrival but we were all asked to wait until the 10:30 time to go through to the changing room. The pool wasn’t as warm as I was expecting but not too bad. Started off ok in the pool for people but I was amazed at how many people came in! No actual chance of swimming really as no space for it! My son loved the flume, which seems decent. Disappointing to discover that two of the ladies showers weren’t working, especially annoying given the amount of people in! Think some updating is needed. We used the bar afterwards for some food. The food was ok but is very basic and actually some is over-priced for what you are getting!

Went swimming today here for the first time with our newborn. Booking was over the phone (online booking process would be nice). But simple enough. Lots of parking space and easy to get to. The place itself is surprisingly big inside with a social club type of bar. The changing room was basic but clean. The pool was good but the baby pool was colder than the main pool and really needs to be a bit warmer.

Called to book and the lady was extremely rude to me saying the pool is only open 2 hours per week?! Not wasting my time, I shall find somewhere else. Sad. Used to be loverly and free coming.

Recently attended the naturist swim and have noticed real improvements in the last year. The changing rooms which had seemed very tired and worn have been brought up to standard and look nice and fresh and new and clean. The pool manages to meet most needs, from loafers to length swimmers, and seems possibly warmer than before. The flume, jacuzzi and sauna back and working fine, and generally not so busy that you have to wait long, if at all, for space. Nice mix of ages using the facility.

I have used this pool on and off since it first opened. I recently went back after a few years break and found it to be very dirty. The first and second week back the sides of the pool had a disgusting scum line, this had been cleaned up this week but sandy, black debris still sits in all the corners on the bottom of the pool. Come on South Forest clean up your act! On the plus side if the cleanliness was improved this is an excellent pool, very warm and easily accessed by steps and not ladders and very reasonably priced.

I booked for the adult swim on a Thursday evening. I was aware there would be parts closed due to restrictions but was happy just to swim. Changing was spotlessly clean when I visited and I was more than happy with my own overall experience. Very accessible with gradual steps into the pool on two sides. I have mobility issues and find the ladder steps impossible to navigate in most pools so this was great for me.

Came here yesterday, no one mentioned over the phone when taking my booking that the baby swimming pool the jacuzzi the sauna the cafe and even the showers was closed! So we can go swimming with strangers but can’t take an individual shower? The pool was freezing and the changing rooms was cold! We had to rush because of set times due to covid well in that case why are you still charging full price when half the facilities was closed? If this got mentioned to me over the phone like i heard them mention this to another person when I was there I wouldn’t of bothered coming. Only food thing was the chip butty in the restaurant.

I belong to a group that uses The Leisure Centre facilities regularly. We recently had our Christmas Lunch for the group in the function room. The group organised choices from three starters, three mains and three desserts. Out of 91 people who attended two had requested gluten free meals. One of us has been gluten free for four years and the other for four weeks. From past experience at other establishments we did not have high expectations on choice, flavour or quality as most places, while paying lip service to gluten free diets for Coeliacs and gluten intolerance, don’t really understand the necessity. The chef at South Forest pulled out all the stops. We had full menu choices with adaptations made where necessary. This included bread roll, stuffing, separate gravy and cheesecake. Congratulations to South Forest for going the extra mile and making something we approached with trepidation into something that left lasting memories of a great afternoon with friends.

Visited South Forest swimming pool 3 days ago whilst in the area visiting family as my 2 year old is swimming mad! Will not be going again... The changing rooms were filthy, I didn't even put my 2 YO on the floor! Walked through to the pool and the foot bath didn't even have any water in it. The pool in general was old and tired, full of rust and grime everywhere, the slide looks as if it'll collapse at any minute. The pool water had god knows what floating around in it, I'd love to know when it was last cleaned! Jacuzzi not working. Life guards were friendly enough and on exit I asked the lady on reception if there were any plans to refresh it etc? She looked embarrassed and said the only thing planned was the jacuzzi to be fixed and that she keeps telling 'them' it needs a refresh. TBH a good clean would be a start... And it costs £5.20 for an adult, £3.90 (I think) for a 2 YO, whereas most places are free and if you want to sit on the side you have to pay 50p! Where is the money going??? Very disappointed and won't be going again.

We had tried other places local for a meal and all booked up so called in to South Forest. It was empty which made us unsure as to how good the meals would be but after looking at the menu decided to give it a try. All of our meals were lovely. The steak (medium rare) cooked to perfection and hardly any fat. All our plates were empty, all food enjoyed. It was quiet but we could talk and didn’t realise how long we had been there in the end because we were so comfortable. Would definitely go back and soon.

where do i start with this place ! hygiene obviously isn't something they take seriously, the changing rooms are dirty, mould in places and the paintwork looking like its not been done since the 70's, chipped door frames, dirty scum around the tiles, it just looks like it's not looked after and left to deteriorate. The pool is the same ! rusty slide and pipes , grit all around inside the pool and scum marks where the water levels are and on the water edges. The baths is in desperate need of a over-hall and cleanup. The whole place feels unclean and unhygienic. Also a word of warning for anyone who takes kids, especially in the male changing rooms, many older guys wondering around and taking showers naked, and don't care when kids are about, I heard afew families making bad remarks about this so i complained to the staff, and was met by rude and 'not bothered' attitude attendants. Personally I would avoid this as a swimming baths and look for somewhere cleaner.

To top it off I didn't get the drinks I ordered. The young waitress that brought our food was good though. We enquired if the cafe was open and she wasn't sure. Fortunately for us it was. After using the cafe I asked if the pool would open soon but miserable woman said not until 10.45. Considering every clock on the premises was different it wasn't very helpful. My daughter enquired about purchasing arm bands to be told those in the display were old stock and she didn't think there were any available to fit my toddler grandson. She certainly couldn't be bothered. Eventually the lifeguards were 'ready to receive visitors' but the whole experience has put us off visiting again. The owners need to review the entrance and welcome before they lose more custom.

But today was breaking point. We take our granddaughter so we expect a certain level of cleanliness. The changing room floors and changing cubicles were disgusting, these had not been cleaned for hours if at all that day. The water was cold and to top it off one of the lifeguards had a door open to the outside!! Maybe he was hot talking to the female lifeguard? The water was murky also. My hubby & I visited for their first time and although the people that attended the swim were friendly/welcoming and very endearing, the only thing that put us off as a big minus point was that the pool was terribly cold the air temp was beyond a joke as I was that cold and I went into the sauna and had to raise my legs to get my feet warmish. The flume was switched on after around an hr, and yes I can say that there was no water in the foot baths. I changed in the gents Ch/room and it seemed fine to me, no issues. I must say that I saw very few people showering on leaving the sauna and very few showering on immediate departure from the changing rooms to claim their place in the hot tub, so if you desire to get in and warm up then I suggest that you wear very little on entry and just have a 'cat lick' on the way in to secure your seat. The staff seemed a little awkward whilst observing/doing their duty although the young lady seemed more at ease after a few smiles from another lady that was comfortable in the situation. I cannot comment on the cafe as we left before most of the occupants of the hot tub went in and did not want to sit in the cold, or it may have been warm in there that is something we cannot comment on. All in all a gentle maturist evening out with like minded folk, but for August too cold so advice is to bring a dressing gown (defiantly) in the winter.

Took my two year old swimming here this week and was quite shocked to be charged £8.30 I felt it was a bit steep. I felt even more strongly about the cost when I got into the changing rooms and the pool. Everywhere looked and felt dirty, there was no water in the foot bath on entry to the pool; the steps to the slide were very dirty and very very rusty; there was grime around the pool, and the slides and I had some concerns about the health implications of all this. On the plus side the water temperature was very pleasant. I notice that there were complaints about the lifeguards being ineffective I a lot of reviews but I have to say that I did not experience this. I as also shocked to find that there was an additional cost for the use of the sauna/steam room. Although it would lead to a loss of income I think this facility needs shutting down for a thorough clean and refurbishment!

The changing room has deteriorated over the last few years of visits. A few of the changing room doors don't lock or are stiff to lock. One of the toilet cubicles in the ladies changing room did not even have a lock on it. The changing room was quite dry but the toilet floor was like walking through one big puddle. Although water is to be expected this is a bit unsafe/hygienic and just shows standards are sloppy. The pool is a good size and has a fun slide and jacuzzi the water in which was cool. There were obviously lots of families with children so if you want space to swim up and down Sunday afternoon is not the time to go.The rules for the jacuzzi are not upheld as young children were allows in regardless of what it says on the sign. One of the party ordered salad which was very fresh and the prawn Marie rise was tasty. For afters this bar serves the best value puddings I have ever come across for less than £3!Well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.

We (my husband abd baby girl) love to visit here weekly to go swimming. It's always a very calm and tranquil atmosphere perfect for small children. There is a great little baby pool with small slide and a big pool with a slide and a separate jacuzzi pool. Always nice and clean and staff friendly

We called into the restaurant last Sunday around 5pm for a late tea, we take our kids swimming here and the food is usually ok. However, I ordered a Lasagne and was asked if I wanted small or large, I opted for the large. When it came, I was dished up the smallest portion of lasagne, which looked like a microwave meal, accompanied by dry oven chips, I asked the lady who brought it out to us, if it was a large portion, she asked a lady behind the bar who had the worst manners I have seen in a pub/bar, talk about blunt, ignorant and rude. I can easily say it was the worst meal I have ever paid for, so much so that I nearly refused to, I will not be eating there again.

Decided to take my 3 month old daughter here this morning as I'd been a few years ago and the pool was nice and warm. I won't be returning as the changing rooms we disgusting!! In a baby/toddler changing room the metal bench is broken with sharp metal edges exposed (photo attached). The baby changing table looked like it hasn't been cleaned for months, there was grime all the way round. Do they not employ cleaners? The 1 star is that the pool water was nice and warm but that's the only positive. It's such a shame as with the slide etc this could be a lot nicer. Needs some money updating it.

I recently visited and had to send my just 8 year old into the changing room on his own. No family spaces to allow for mums on there own with male child. Lockers are big metal things that you access with a big metal padlock. No 8 year old would manage on their own. I do not advise if you have children of the opposite sex to yourself. Not a family designed facility at all.

I attended with my 1 year old daughter as we were invited to a party. It is the first time I've been. The changing rooms were very busy and needed a good clean. The floors were so dirty. There were only two baby change tables.. I managed to use it getting ready to go in but not when we got out.As the floor was dirty I struggled a bit.. once my daughter was ready I didn't really want to put her on the floor so asked a friend's mum to hold her while I got ready.Getting out , the bigger changing room was being used so I had to use a small cubicle to get ready in. Again I found it difficult to get both me n my daughter ready. The floor still dirty so again didn't want to put her on the floor. I did put her in a baby play pen but that wasn't the cleanest. I had to get changed with the door open so I could see her.The bench in the cubicle has 4 metal slats so not comfortable for a baby to lie on. There is lockers and the reception give you a padlock when you go in... which you have to remember to hand back at the end. Would be easier to have lockers which take money and refund you at the end like all other leisure centres. The pool itself is warm. The poolside could do with brightening up.. seems dated. The baby pool was colder than the main pool. The party room was very spacious. The food was nice for the little ones. Good size portions. The whole place needs tlc. It seems to be stuck in the late 80's or early 90's. This place could be really nice if they invested in it! Hourly checks of the changing rooms also required..

I went last week with my 4 month old daughter and it was lovely and warm unlike watermeadows which I visited the week before. It wasn't too busy and she loved it. We went for a drink and a bite to eat in the cafe after and as we walked in it was like a greasy spoon. Chip fat filled the air and the tables were disgusting. I decided not to eat and just feed my daughter her bottle. The other I were with brought a small coke and a bag of crisps I can't remember the price but I know I thought it was expensive. They had ran out of sausage rolls too which my other friend wanted. swimming I would go again yes but not for food . I think it needs abit of a revamp

We came here last month for a swimming birthday party and was appalled by the disgusting state of the who pool area! The changing rooms were caked with mud, when mentioned to the receptionist she merely said "Yeh someone must have brought it in!"?? The pool water itself smelt fusty and was cloudy! Our friends baby had to get out after 15 minutes as the water was so cold his lips turned blue! The lifeguards on duty were more interested in watching the young girls in their bikinis than actual pool safety. Had it not been for the fact the visit was due to a birthday party we wouldn't have even entered the water! Safe to say we will not be returning!

Visited South Forest with our luncheon club as a special treat for their Christmas meal and we had a lovely time. The room was warm and the Christmas decorations were tasteful. The tables were set with crackers and festive cloths. The diners had a choice from a Christmas menu offering Turkey and Pork or Beef or Cod Loin or a vegetarian option. The orders were taken quickly and the food was really good. The meat was tender. The vegetables were served in dishes with plenty for everybody. The staff were friendly and helpful and our diners had a great experience and they all said that they had really enjoyed it. Thanks South Forest for making our Senior Citizens so welcome.

I visit here regularly and my visit today was average to say the least.it was busy when we arrived but still managed to grab a table.the little craft fair was on today which is nice and interesting to look round.they are the 2 good points.but when all is said and done our main reason for visiting was for dinner, which isn't half as nice as it used to be when we first started visiting for Sunday lunch. It seems tasteless for some reason, and must agree with another reviewer, dry veg ect.and personally everything I had today was "just" warm,by the time you've put gravy on and got back to your table, its lukewarm at best.its no where near hot enough, from other carverys I have had elsewhere they are nice ,enjoyable and hot,and I'm afraid after my dinner today this was none of the above.you need some hot lights or something of that description, the food just isn't hot enough.sorry.

We had the carvery and me and my wife were very disappointed. Dry veg, dry roast potatoes, I will be going back to Toby carvery from now on. Drinks are over priced.

Stopped off for a swim with my 4 children, twins 3, 13yr old son & 15yr old daughter. The building & decor are a bit tired & dated, & the changing room floors could have been cleaner but the pool was great fun. The toddler pool wad perfect depth & had a lovely little slide that my two could manage on their own. The temperature was lovely as well, didn't get cold & no one had blue lips! Slide for the big kids was fine & even took little ones on as it didn't go to fast unless you wanted to. Had a steam room which I didn't use but looked good & a Jacuzzi that the big kids went in. Also had more then one family changing room which makes a change!Had lunch after & was more then pleased! Kids meal deal were more then enough & only £2:50! Everything was tasty, cheap, made fresh & big portions. If we stay in this area again, will more then likely come back, but with waterproof socks!

nice food and free deserts with some meals. Their steak pies are to die for, the main dining hall is dated but clean, and the price of the food is very reasonable. My daughter likes it so much so is having her wedding reception here. The staff are polite and there is plenty of choice for lunchtime or evening meals.

I fancied a swim and sauna so thought I'd try south forest. All good as far as price and cleanliness that Id expect from a public swimming baths.I don't know whether I picked a bad day but folk seem not to be aware that they are in public environment.Sat in the sauna and had to ask two elderly men to stop swearing, never mind them having to talk at the top of their voice. The place is only 10x8.Anyway they left and I got 1 minute of peace before 3 young guys came in. I didn't even bother to ask them to tone it down. Incredible! So ok I'll go for a drink...lime and soda £2.30. Woman at the bar says fu@"ing hell thats pricy.I won't be going back

Not a cheap option to swim with all the family and really not an acceptable level of cleanliness and refurbishment in the changing rooms or pool area. Changing rooms covered in hair, fluff and litter. The lockers are rusty and will mark fabrics in the lockers if not careful. The pool was warm but not ideal for small children as layout is dated, flume is situated so you have to crouch under it and in general, several tiles cracked and broken all around.Had a snack in the cafe afterwards and again the cleanliness was unacceptable. Tables sticky and salt and pepper pots thick with grease which transferred to your fingers when you picked them up. Really no excuses, management need to take hold of this before the centre's reputation is totally ruined.

This is a really good facility with a superb swimming pool. There is also a well equipped gym and a great indoor bowls facility with several lanes. Classes are available in many of the aerobics disciplines at reasonable fees. There is a first class restaurant on the first floor open at weekends but excellent meals are available at any time from the bar and in the Cafe by the swimming pool. I have never been disappointed in any of the meals I have had there. Once a month there is a small craft fair in one of the rooms downstairs and there are function rooms for hire up stairs. There is a lift for disabled access to the function rooms and the upstairs restaurant .

We’ve been working away from home for the past five weeks and have eaten at The Post Office in Newark almost every night. It’s become our go-to spot! The staff here is fantastic, always welcoming and attentive—Kenzie, in particular, has been amazing, making sure we’re well taken care of each time we come in. They even switch the sports channel to our local team’s games, which makes us feel right at home. The food is top-notch! We had the Jingle Bell Beef burger, and it was excellent—perfectly cooked with incredible flavor, paired with crispy, beer-battered onion rings. We can also highly recommend the mixed grill and fish and chips—both were delicious and generous portions. The beer selection is solid too! If you’re looking for great food, friendly service, and a spot to catch a game, The Post Office is the place to be. We’ll definitely miss this place when we head home! ( coffee & smashed glass )
