Sou's Takeaway in Bolton

This is the Best chippy for miles around. Proper fish and chip shop. Great authentic Chinese food. Worth the wait.......

Really disappointed with Chinese meals. Very bland and no flavour at all. Had special fried rice and chicken in chilli and garlic sauce with egg rice. Will not be going again.

This is a place we've used a couple of times and always had good food there. It is cash only and you do need to queue quite a lot sometimes but it is worth it. Previously, we had just dined on the great range of good quality, Chinese dishes, but we're in the mood for some British food this time. It cost us about £14 for two fish, two chips and one lot of rather unusual mushy peas. The fish was big and delicious and the chips just melted in your mouth. Not something we will do too often, but on this occasion it was very good indeed.

Our usual Chinese takeaway has gone downhill so we were on the lookout for a new one. This was a recommendation and turned out to be really good – it will definitely be our replacement! One complaint would be that we ordered over the phone and were told the food would be 15 to 20 minutes. As it was, it turned out to be over 40 minutes but we would just order earlier next time. The food itself was excellent. Fresh, delicious and really big portions. We tried a couple of straightforward dishes this time but would definitely go for something more adventurous with our next order. You need to collect from the chip shop itself which gets busy but it is definitely worth driving to and collecting.

The chips are melt in the mouth, out of this world. They deserve all the recognition they get, had fish and chips all over the UK, this is hands down the best.

This is a family run business that has been going for donkey's years, and it has a fantastic local reputation. The queue is always out of the door during the busy periods. I've tried a lot off the menu, and nothing has let me down.

Fish good, chips good. Peas not mushy bu tasted good. Sou's has otherwise always been a great chippy.

Best chippy in all of Bolton, always packed so says it all. Please come and try this wonderful chippy, you wont be disappointed.

We have been having food from Sous for over 20 years and the standard of food has never changed it's always been excellent and have never been disappointed in all these years. I would not hesitate to recommend the food from here it's superb 👍👍

Very expensive and nothing special about the food. Not like usual Chinese thick Gravy, it was thin and tasteless and curry sauce was also very thin and too sweet. Fish was nice but very small for the price. I love a fish in plenty of crispy batter at the ends but this was just a square piece in batter. We didnt order a chinese dish as they were way too expensive restaurant prices not takeaway.

Salt & pepper wings really good and our favourite takeaway. Special fried rice is another favourite too

Been going to this chippy since the Sou’s came across from Hong Kong , just a great chippy and Chinese takeaway...... end of !

Used Sou’s all of the time up until about 6yrs ago and felt that it had gone a little stale so changed to a takeaway closer to home. After checking out reviews over the weekend I decided to give it another try. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The Chinese food was very greasy and tasteless (Chicken chow mein and Special fried rice) chips were soggy and Chicken Wings were dripping in fat. The curry sauce was watery and no taste. In fact a jar from Asda has more kick. First visited back in 1980 as a kid when they first opened but on this showing I won’t be going back. Sorry Sou but at the prices you charge you have to take some criticism.

By far the best chippy around Bolton and possible ever! We order from here on a weekly basis and never disappointed

This place is dear and not worth what you pay for. Can't taste the gravy and the curry is like a savoury sauce. A fiver for fried rice chips and curry. Three quid in other places.

I have been eating here for 39 years and it's also been in the same owners hands, which goes to show just how good the food is, I would say without fear of contradiction it's restaurant quality or even high,and I have had the pleasure of eating is lots of Chinese restaurant thought out England and Denmark, the food portions are more than ample as well

We have been using this Chinese Chip shop for many years now and can say without fear or favour, that is is the best around bar far!

King prawn curry to die for.and a very substantial takeaway menu. All at very reasonable prices, with very friendly and helpful staff.

This well established chip shop has the best overall food menu in Bolton (in my humble opinion). Very competitively priced meals.As far as I am aware the shop is not open during the daytime. I have very rarely seen this establishment without a queue of customers waiting inside and outside of the shop.

Been open for years and we have been going for years...food always good. do recommend ordering via phone as the other visitors suggest...queues can get quite long... shows how good the food is i suppsoe.

I honestly can't believe all the fuss about this chippy,it might have been standard in its days,but now it's just living off its past reputation,I'm not sure if people are aware,there's another chippy on hulton lane which is far better and half the price .

Great food every time, can get so busy the queues come out of the door. Recommended to phone order through before collecting. No delivery available as far as I am aware but it’s worth the trip in any event. Best chippy @ Chinese !

A big part of growing up and being grown up. No matter where I have lived I've always come to sou's when back in bolton. A genuine and lovely family business you really can't get a better takeaway. Family fave is meal 4b....and so accommodating with substitutions. My parents never ate takeaway except for here....best fish n chips too.

Had take aways from Sou's for nearly 35 years. The quality and value for money has never been bettered anywhere. Always worth the wait at busy times.

I love Chinese food and I am Chinese. This place does the best salt and pepper chicken wings ever! The queues going out the door are worth it. The staff are pleasant and work very hard. We ring ahead but you may aswell set off as soon as you out the phone down. Everyone else in the queue are telephone orders usually so don't think you can skip the queue. The food has never disappointed us. I have tried elsewhere but keep coming back. The beef Cantonese is excellent and I can recommend the hot and sour soup. Some places scrimp on the meat in the soup but it is crammed with flavour and filling! We order every weekend and loom forward to Sou's night!!

Best fish n chips in BOLTON bar none. Chinese food. Wonderfull beef curry. The onions are to die for! Go to this place all the time!

Go to Sous every Friday night for all the family.Always great food and decent portions.you know it's good when they're queuing out the door every time you go.

First visit to Sou's chinese chippy we were recommended to go by friends can honestly say we were not disappointed. Great food will be returning. A bit disappointed they don't deliver
