Little Lantern in Bolton

First time ordering here spent £40 and i am appalled!! The prawn toast was shameful the chicken was black and rock hard! The hot and sour soup was like toilet water and the chips was greasy when phoning to ask them to collect and get a refund they was nothing but rude and I got no outcome and the food ended up in the bin

I had mixed chilli and garlic, special fried rice ,soft fried noodles and chicken with ginger and spring onion and the whole meal was fantastic will be ordering the same again, thank you.

Food was ok nothing to write home about, was quite busy and as been open a long time so they must be doing something right, might just have been a one off so will try again.

Nice food, good delivery service. Will definitely order again

First time I have ever used Little Lantern, first time I've paid to have food delivered, and to be honest, it's the first time I've ordered Chinese food for YEARS!!! I love it but I don't drive and there isn't one walkable near me. Anyway, I was absolutely satisfied with what I got from Little Lantern. I ordered large egg fried rice, sweet sour chicken, and Thai green curry chicken. Fair portions which will do me for the next day or two. Ordered online and it said about 90min for delivery but it actually came 30min earlier so I was very pleased about that. The driver even came up 3 flights of stairs to deliver to me and he was friendly and polite. I would definitely recommend it and I will definitely use Little Lantern again. Thank you so much for my lovely meal.

amazing food, i love everything the vibe and all the aesthetics, you can really see how hard the owners work and honestly if i lived there i would take it every day. food was perfect fried rice was cooked to perfection and chips were fried to where it was crunchy and still had all the taste. 10/10 would recommend

Absolutely disgraceful paid for food the money came out of our account and was told it wasn’t acceptable, we now have to wait 5 working days to get that money back happy Saturday they have totally ruined it kids hungry hey thanks for nothing no let’s work it out absolutely pathetic I paid and didn’t receive and they had the tenacity to ask if u could pay again on a different card ?? No way would I recommend this place customer service ? Zero

Chow mein noodles were all chopped up into small bits and lacking flavour. Egg fried rice was overcooked. The other food wasn’t the same quality as we’ve had previously over the years.

The meal was basic and payment is cash only

Best Chinese in bolton, food always hot and fresh and delivers on time. Tom the delivery driver always nice and delivers quick. Happy to spend my money here often. Good value for money

Prawn sesame toast overcooked so much that they were rock hard and shrivelled. special Kung po was covered in cashews which I've never seen before. Ordered large fried rice for 2 and received small1. Was going to suggest you have a chat with your chef but it doesn't matter because I will never use your business again

Chips good. Never seen salt and pepper mushrooms not battered… really dry and awful, not nice at all

Food turned up 2hrs late after being told it would take 35mins, half the order was missing so called up and was told they can deliver but waiting for a delivery driver when I said I’d prefer a refund I was met with a very rude response saying she’d give me store credit, I explained I paid cash so I want a cash refund… still waiting on my refund.. ribosome had no meat at all just batter, shredded chicken was that hard I nearly broke a tooth! And food arrived warm not hot. I spent over £50 on this treat of once a month. We’re in a cost of living crisis and got people like is taking the p@ss with orders they should be ashamed of themselves. Never again will I use my hard earned cash here.

The salt an pepper chips are the best around !!

Too many people in the shop the takeaway driver black guy with the glasses stared at me and knocked into me.I ordered fish and chips.Was eating it at home when I bit into a chip and it was stone cold.The fish was small and flat,disgusting dirty rude place

Main issue I have is quality of food compared to the past and current prices. Very expensive compared to competitors such as tongue fold Chinese chef and chips r us. Please not we order as a club and mainly eat chips curry rice etc … main meals are very very good … so would defo advise if ordering this type of food. However mini easy to eat stuff is not close to standard of competition.

First time trying here, never again. Chicken dry it sat in a warmer that long, customers in shop get ignored for ages. Defo wont be going back

ABSOLUTLY DISGUSTING!!!!! Been using this place for over 6years. over the past few month the meals have been hit and miss but just took this as busy periods and we do live right on the edge of the area they cover. But tonight we have paid £28 for a meal which when we sat down to eat we left more than 3/4 of the plate as there was just no taste. And tasted like pure salt and the chicken was dry and also the chips were still hard in the center. We contacted the shop to say we could not eat the food as it was genuinely not edible for the manger on the phone to just say I am sorry and I will pass your message onto the chef and was leaving it as that and did not offer a refund considering there was more than 3/4 of the hole order left or Evan to re make the food for us. She continued to be very unhelpful and say we do not give refunds as the food now will not be able to be re heated to be sold on as it is a popular dish at this point was Evan more shocked and makes me wonder weather the past meals we have had from them over the months that have also not been very good has the been re heated food. At the end of the day any restaurant take away and business that is to sell any type of product that is not satisfactory should offer for the item to be re made or a refund to be issued not to be told there is nothing that can be done. Will never be using this place again and will never recommend absoluty discussing customer service. And if I could offer less that 1 star I would but google will not allow me to.

I never used this takeaway before, so I used Just Eat, and order went through fine. I left special instructions and my number to contact me when they arrive. However I had accidentally pressed a 9 instead of a 0 as they were side by side. An unfortunate mistake on my behalf but easily made. However the abuse I received from the delivery driver was unwarranted and far from acceptable. I was was shielding with Covid at the time hence the special instructions and my real number was easily retrieved from just eat. Please don’t let any potential customers put you off from ordering from here as the food was fantastic, I’ll be picking up in future.

Ordered for collection said it would be ready at 6.30. Went to collect at 6.35 to ensure it was ready and to maintain my distance and eventually got my order at 18.55 after standing in shop for 20 mins with 3 other customers and delivery drivers coming in and out. Don't mind the original 40 minute wait but would have expected it to be ready for collection at the time specified. Would have appreciated them telling me there was another 20 mins to wait when I entered shop then I could have at least waited in the car.

5 star food and always delicious. My favourite Chinese takeaway and though I am from Halifax I always stop off for a Chinese here whilst visiting Bolton

Ordered what we thought would be a lovely meal - order was placed at around 5pm finally arrived after 7:30pm was not impressed with this service as we were told to order directly online after a brief call to the shop, Food was ok by a takeaway standard but little on the cold side after a 2 hour trip round Bolton for what should have been a 10min delivery Will think again before ordering more from here

Friendly and make quality salt and pepper chicken.

Char Sui curry was really poor. Strange colour sauce and strange taste. Not nice. Chicken fried rice dry and tasteless. Would not recommend.

Ordered food for myself and my daughter, within 30 minutes of eating, both of us started with extremely painful stomach cramping then repeated trips to the loo with diarrhoea. Normally have no issue with food from here but won’t be ordering from again.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Never have I dealt with a less professional takeaway business or ridiculously rude driver in my life. We spent near enough £40 quid on food that did not arrive after 3 hours . The driver contacted us and insulted my friend on the phone over information and made threats. The food never arrived and the takeaway lied about it being delivered to us. We have gone to just eat and let everyone know what an appauling situation this is. Will not buy from there again

Prawn crackers were good, the rest of it was poor.

We’ve ordered from here a few times and also called in on the way home from work. Always try to order something different and have never been disappointed. The staff are always pleasant and happy to advise on any of the dishes. I really can’t fault the place.

My wife and my disabled son went to get takeaway. Had to wait nearly more then 45 minutes as they were just busy cooking for just eat app order. Changed our chippy to a better one where they care for human

Was very disappointed today. Next time New chippy for sure. Went there with my son who has Downs. Waited nearly 40 minutes while they served 3 people who ordered after us and they sent two times big few bags of food orders with delivery guy for Just eat app orders. When asked how long for our food, blamed on chef, saying not us when he cooks your food we can give it to you. Ha ha ...right....understood. If you want food from there order via just eat app. They like app not humans waiting and paying before getting food.

We have been using this takeaway for our ‘go to’ for a treat for many years and have never been disappointed. Best in Bolton

Great for Chinese, fish and chips

Second time we been here the first time it was lovely this time I would not give it to a dog. Chicken skewers in satay sauce that salty we could not eat them. Sweet and sour chicken no sauce in it so dry. The Szechuan sauce very salty. The egg fried rice well not nice. The best thing was the chips and the fried onions.I would not recommend this place to any oneWe phone up to complain and got told you have to get use to it that’s the way we do our food. My money will spend anywhere

Always recommended, this place is awesome !

Spent almost £30 on starters and a special fried rice. The starters were greasy and tasteless, then we find a long black hair with a piece of blue fluff on it in the rice (I’m blonde so certainly wasn’t mine). The managers response “sorry, if it’s not good next time bring it back” to which I respond “there won’t be a next time”. Absolutely disgusted!

Staying just down the road in Bolton, i was recommended the Little Lantern Chinese takeaway, just down the road, where Attercliffe road meets Bury New Road.Whilst it took a little while to be served (it was early evening on a Saturday so a little busy), the food was cooked quickly and to a good standard.Chicken in Oyster Sauce, Egg Fried Rice and Prawn Crackers all for £8.20.The portions were large (i only just managed to finish the meal) and well cooked of good quality ingredients.Seating is a little limited in the takeaway whilst you wait, but to be fair i wasn't waiting long.Certainly one to remember for next time i'm Up North!

Best Chinese take away in the area by far ! Love it. Not had a dish i didnt like yet. Would recommend beef and tomato soup.
