Excellent service and delicious food my new favourite takeaway

The food was good. Salt n pepper ribs were very nice.

This has happened twice now, delivery is always very late, have to ring up, Don’t get me wrong , food always nice, but delivery is very lacking, and just say food is on its way. Will use someone else from now on.

Ordered for me and my partner for the first time from here. Got 2x S+P chicken, 1 egg fried rice, 1 chips with curry sauce and all was perfect. Waiting time wasn’t long at all and was reasonably priced (£19.80). Will definitely be eating from here again!

We have been ordering from here for many years, and 98% of the time our meals have arrived on time, were hot and tasted delicious. There has only been 2 recent deliveries that were cold and I contacted them and they apologised as there had been issues with deliveries. The last few deliveries have been 100% so we are more than happy to continue to order from our favourite chinese takeaway👍

I used to love Man yuen, but it has gone down hill. The salt and pepper chips were chips that tasted like they had been reheated from the night before with onions in but no salt and pepper, beef satay sauce was horrible but beef was cooked well. Singapore noodles had a horrible flavour on them, BBQ ribs were dry and over cooked. Even the prawn crackers had a horrible taste. Definatley won't be going back. But such a shame as I think it has been taken over but the food was absolutely amazing before.

Great Chinese chippy, pork fried rice is packed with meat . Wife loves the chicken chowmein . Fast service on delivery never had a bad meal.

Decent got salt n Peper tofu cheps n rice curry sauce enjoyed it.

I've been going to Man Yuen for over 20 years now on an off for a cheeky Chinese!! I hate to say that the last takeaway was terribly disappointing!! 😔 certainly not to the standards that you had come accustomed to with this place!! The dishes were shocking and a rely let down.!! Food quilty just isn't there anymore. Previous would have raved about this place.. Fish an chips aren't bad still bit would be weary of the Chinese options. !!!!

Atrocious service 40 min delivery turned in to 2 hours no help when asking why said "we got busy after you ordered" how does that affect my delivery? Shock on drivers face when i said it was 2hours (they sent him to apologise but not told him why) food was nice if a little cool. We will stay as far away as possible and don't recommend sadly

Disappointed me with vegetarian vermicelli. Specifically asked for chilli hot. The lady even confirmed before we end the call that I want chilli in my vermicelli. Vermicelli is overcooked, lumps of noodles, not strings of noodles and no chilli at all. Completely bland. When called, the guy said we could make another one. You could come pick it up at nearly 9 pm in the night. We already late wanted something we really love and quality we always had. I added chilli flake, but it's not what I had before from them. Even eggs in there is overcooked and chewy.

The food was awful it was very cold and dry I ordered once on a monday which is one of the least busiest days in the shop and the food still took over an hour to make and get ready I do not recommend at all.

Absolutely disgusted with my order arrived in 2 deliveries not 1 so the sweet&sour chicken balls were cold by time rest of delivery arrived they were also over cooked the boiled rice was also overcooked and cold so 2 members of my family never got their tea and we have had to cook meals instead of eating as a family extremely annoyed over this will never order again

Great take away, polite staff, Great food

While waiting for food I witnessed a member of staff picking his nose, checking the contents then wiping it on his apron, you can guess what I did with food. Did raise it with the counter staff, a complete lack of concern. My advise avoid at all costs.

Terrible food all went in the bin

First time having a takeaway from here ,would not recommend, the food wasnt even edible, it was laced with so much salt ,spent 20 pounds, total waste of money , as it went in the bin ,the prawn crackers were soggy ,the beef Thai curry was disgusting and they put an omelette with prawns rice ,chicken ect that we did even order . Avoid this place .

Shocking customer service!!! Ordered for delivery. order was wrong, refused to correct it unless i went and picked it up myself! Attitude on the phone was disgusting. Never seen going back there

Have to spend 12.00 on your bank card. Got pudding chips curry. No taste to the meal at all. Curry sauce is not nice . Will not be going again.

Chicken fried rice ,salt and pepper beef salt and pepper chips can of Coke and normal chip absolutely disgusting Iv never tasted anything so Revolting in my life all the chips were soggy stuck to paper you couldn’t get chips off paper the chicken in fried rice was sweet and as a smell to it beef was soggy Iv rang them and explained he was talking’s to me and not making any sense Iv asked for a refund he wanted the food back as I think that’s what he said 🤷‍♀️Really disappointed with this food u believe it’s in under different management now as Iv never ever ad a bad meal from they ever Iv been goin years

Only had salt and pepper chips but the were great

Bought 2 portions of freshly cooked fish and chips, firstly the Chips were mushy, the fish was undercooked and swimming in oil, the batter was soggy not and not crispy at all. My first fish and chips from here a couple of years ago was amazing but this has sadly put me off from going back ever again.

Not sure what the other reviews were talking about but we have eaten the food from here on more than one occassion and always found it great. Other reviews sound like same person wrote them

The food took over an hour to come and was stone cold. Apart from being cold it was the worst Chinese food we have ever tasted and all went straight in the bin. When we rang to complain they did say sorry but other than than were not bothered. Would never go here again and would advise others to steer well clear. Truly awful

Waited 90 minutes for cold and inedible food. The lot went straight in the bin. Complained and said all they can do is cook the same disgusting food again!?

A great Chinese takeaway! My go to in the area. Such a varied selection, standard prices and always tastes amazing. Would recommend if looking for a Chinese. Only down side is you have to pay cash if order is under £12 which is a bit inconvenient.

Food was only a rating if a 2 out of 10 today been before and it was lovely but tonight's was terrible the spare ribs never had a lot of sauce and the sauce that it did have was thick sauce which was bland and the ribs were more fat than meat the salt and pepper chicken was very hard like it had been reheated in fryer and the chips were the best thing about it not good really sorry

I've known Paula and her dad who bought the place from Tommy almost 30-35 years ago and have never had cause for complaint. I cannot say that at all from these amateurs who have taken over the business, this is a prime spot run by an idiot, will never use again after all these years.

Absolutely disgraceful. Have no idea what the hell is going on in that take away. First the girl on the fone had no idea what the hell she was doing. Got our order wrong, over charged us by double, and then didnt even bring the whole order.... Then ring to say they have delivered wen they hadnt. Got the wrong number n wrong address. Fuming is not in it.... Can safely say no never again will i use this take away.... Absolute shambles. Sort it out man yuen. Embarrassing....

Needless to say we will NOT be using them again. Useless.

Highly variable in the past. The Chinese food is OK but I've had better. The chips are usually horrible, dried up and/or greasy and made up of 50% inedible scraps. I only go to the place if nowhere else is open. However, the council awarded it 1/5 for food hygiene on 13 January 2020, major improvement necessary, so it is permanently crossed off the list for any revisit.

Food is poor quality. Service is also poor.

Disgusting food and staff disgustingly rude. One big mess of grease was delivered. I sent back and they were very rude about giving me back money!!

I have been a customer of man Yuen for 30 years,always had great food,good staff/owners,brilliant delivery guy (joe) i have used little lantern for the last few years as I lived close by but they now only deliver every other blue moon if the winds blowing south and Haley’s comet is passing ! Seems they can cherry pick when they want to deliver ? Therefore I resorted back to man Yuen tonight,then I read the recent reviews about new owners etc .. I was a little worried !! But I needn’t have been,food was just as good as it used to be,chilli beef brill 👍 chips fresh 👍 salt n pepper wings spot on 👍 even got some free spring rolls,also tasty 👍 I don’t know if the bad reviews are true or not but I can only go off my experience and I was well impressed ! Also delivery time seemed to be an issue with the poor reviews,ours arrived in under 30 mins piping hot ! If you’ve upped your game new man Yuen then we’ll done ✅ great job ! 👌

Well I'm not sure why people are giving this place such bad reviews. I can honestly say the food I ordered was absolutely fantastic. Better than previously. The crispy shredded beef is amazing. Lovely food and lovely staff. 5 stars from me .😊.

Chicken fried rice is usually really nice, however this time is was really dry and didn't taste nice at all. A big disappointment as we have always used this takeaway

Foods not as good since new owners took over.

Such a shame the new management haven't taken on the advice and guidance of the former owners. She's been in there trying yo help them and pass on things but they have changed everything. Wait time is a joke now and the food is awful. Bland, greasy, no flavour at all. My favourite dishes are ruined. Long term customer lost for good now thanks to new management :(

I've been using man yuen since I moved on somerton road 35 years ago, always perfect food & staff. I ordered a couple of days ago (27/09/19) food was ok but nothing near to how good it was. I learned it has been taken over. I would like to wish the old owners good luck for the future, they where amazing. I think the new staff need to up there game, by food standards & other reviews they may not be in business for too long. Unfortunately I will be going elsewhere. My 3 stars review is generous

Rude staff,poor service,long wait time for a order of 1 portion of chips. Staff member came to serve me and was quickly interrupted by other staff speaking what i assume to be chinese. They then stop serving me and start loading chips into the fryer then walk into the back not to be seen again.

Called into this Chinese randomly driving past and ordered sweet & sour chicken, rice, chips, chow mein and prawn crackers. It was looking hot and fresh and tastes lovely. Can't fault it

We have had quite a few take away from here. The food has always been exceptionally good and the portions are quite big. Service was very good.

Loved this place and without a doubt one of the best if not the best in Bolton in my opinion. We was made aware the takeaway was under new ownership and boy you can tell. When the food arrived we knew the quality was not the same. The paper the chips where wrapped in was completely saturated in grease when opening the chips they were mushy and tasteless the special salt and pepper was a totally different dish as to what we would normally would have received. I understand people have different methods of cooking certain meals but why try fix something that was never broke. The special fried rice was not much better to be honest it just seemed like they had tried to bulk it out with peas! The prawn crackers where shop bought without a doubt they was all uniformed in shape and were thick enough to pas for a Jacobs cracker. To top this horrible experience off the curry..oh the curry..lumpy!! That’s not right. I can safely say we will not be making any future orders.... Gutted this once great place is no longer great

Unfortunately late on delivery. I have known this company for many years and is very popular how ever I have a company and always deliver promises. Unfortunately unacceptable to give a time scale and not adhere to it. Other than that food was ok.

Well ordered from heat tonight and well I hated it the chips well can’t call them chips they where cold and hard look liked last weeks chips the shredded chicken well it was just batter no chicken was so dry to eat was disgusting nothing was warm I had to microwave the curry sauce that was even stone cold don’t get why then it’s about 5 min away for delivery and I paid £1.50 for delivery and the prawn crackers where all crushed up just lot of crumbs in a bag I dot recommend to anyone and will not be going hear again

Only came in for some salt and pepper chips (extra spicy) which were superb.... They know exactly how to make stuff extra spicy but properly so there is lots of flavour not just spice!
