Sound Bites in Plymouth

Lovely food, lovely staff and a lean place to visit with nice views. However we went there yesterday for breakfast and food great and lovely service, until we got the bill…… £9.95 each for a big breakfast (which is fine)……. 4 cups of tea charged at £2.90 a cup giving us a bill for £31.50. Massively expensive Tea here, so when it says eat here from £1-£10 Beware !!! Lol

Coffee was delicious! Food was extraordinary😍

Me and my partner went in after a nice walk on the Barbican, we got a couple of small plates to share and was so impressed with the food. The halloumi fries were massive so would definitely recommend! Amazing place to go and visit, staff were so friendly and nice, we’re definitely going to come back!

Chose this place based on reviews and we were not disappointed . Arrived at 11 to be advised breakfast was finished but after querying the time stated on the menu the staff couldn’t have been nicer did us our breakfast baps which were delicious coffee was also delicious and we give you 100percent for such great customer service. Come to this place ….. you won’t regret it and looks like a great music venue too

Went in for the Sunday carvery that occurs at the marina bar. Adele always looks after me, and once again the carvery was spot on. Everything from the portion size to the quality was top notch. I couldn’t recommend it enough! Ps. Get there early for the cauliflower cheese! It is probably one of the best I’ve had!

This is a great dog friendly cafe with awsome food . The staff are welcoming the views are lovely and there's free parking for 2 hours . I would definitely recommend this cafe.

Everytime I've got the food has been hot fresh and delicious. Only the best ingredients are used. Fabulous views too, you will not be disappointed.

Breakfasts here are always a treat. Lots of options... I usually go for the Captain's cooked breakfast which is more than enough. Seats outside, quiet location and fantastic on a warm sunny morning.

Nice little cafe; small but good food and service. Parking at marina currently free for 2 (or possibly 3) hours. Ticket machine at entrance barrier. Will definitely visit again.

Went down with some family members for the fireworks tonight, although it was very busy we were greeted by polite staff and were served hot fresh food and drinks that were very reasonably priced we will all definitely be going back again soon. Thank you for such a pleasant evening 😊

Dire. Firework night and limited fast food menu which was terrible when it arrived. Tasted like the cheapest burgers that were pre-cooked for speed. For what it cost, it should have been a lot better. Disappointed and felt ripped off. I think the good reviews here are for the previous owners.

Great food, first class service and super friendly. Overlooking the water of Plymouth Sound. Recently called in for lunch was very impressed. Greeted with a very warm welcome, we were a group of 4 and had various panini and sandwiches, all super fresh ingredients and really tasty. This was all topped off by a fab flat white coffee and various other drinks. Will definitely be back - Thank you for a super lunch and the friendly smiles.

Great quality, friendly small cafe. Tucked slightly out of the way but two hours free parking so worth the effort if you don't want to spend too long in the city centre. Will definitely be coming back.

Best breakfast I've had in a long

It’s recently changed hands. The food I can only describe now as full fat grease rather than the good food both previous sets of owners had. If you want a full portion of fat, a small portion of food and pay a high price then enjoy.

Love this little cafe. Extensive menu and breakfast is always delicious and to die for. The staff are ace. Nothing more to add really, apart from it is a great setting to relax, unwind and watch the seafarers do their thing.

Apologies for the late review, we visited in mid-July 2020. I visited this fab little cafe with my husband and two teenagers having checked out the TripAdvisor reviews. We were almost deterred by the barrier access to Queen Anne Battery, but on approach to the barriers they lifted and allowed us through and back out again afterwards (I don't know if this is generally the case, or a temporary measure during these strange Covid times). You can also walk there from the Barbican via the footpath beside the aquarium. The cafe was staffed by a lady behind the counter and a gent doing the cheffing. The lady was multi-tasking effortlessly like a demon bless her, not at all fazed by dealing with customers whilst doing some of the prep at the same time. When the food came it felt lovingly and carefully prepared and was amazing value. Good coffee too. The burgers, as mentioned by other reviewers, were great (looked like quality home-made ones rather than cheap frozen ones). Afterwards we had a quick wander along the quay, taking in the view towards Plymstock on one side and the Barbican on the other. I don't know how this little place produces such lovely food with so little space at such a reasonable price, but they are doing a brilliant job!

I had a cheese burger with bacon. I wasn’t expecting 2 delicious home made burgers in my bun, it was superb! And the chips were equally as good. And a very tasty bit of salad. All for just over £8. And friendly, helpful staff, they even have a comfortable, warm shed where you can sit and enjoy both your food and a view fab of Plymouth Sound. And our dog was made very welcome.Pip says thanks for the doggy biscuits. Highly recommended!

Just had a breakfast here for the first time, I can safely say its the best breakfast I've had. The staff and owners are very friendly and make you feel at home with free parking it's well worth a visit. Definitely be visiting again.

I ordered a pasty from Sound bites, the meat inside the pasty was completely off - really severe foul smell and taste. The smell lingered for hours after and i returned to the cafe with my pasty to show them and they told me they were fresh in today. Absolutely disgusting!

I eat here several times a month and I'm never disappointed. Good simple grub, fresh and tasty. Fabulous!

Hear about this little gem of a cafe on the grape vine and what a little find it is! Was initially put off by the barrier at the entrance to Queens Anne Battery but took a punt after we saw the 1st 2 hours were free! A little bit more marketing and/or directions from the main road would help but when we found it (hidden behind a big yacht on a trailer) we were greeted by a chirpy waitress. We popped in on a whim for a quick bite for lunch and loved the little variety on offer. I had the pizza flat bread and the missus had the fish cakes and both were washed down with some smoothies. Food was delicious and reasonably priced! Heard good things about the breakfast so will be back to try them for sure!

Stayed in QAB and had breakfast here a couple of mornings. Sound Bites opens early and everything was cooked fresh from a comprehensive menu. Nothing seemed too much trouble from the friendly staff if you wanted things slightly different from the menu. Very yummy breakfast, awesome toast and definitely sets you up for the day!

visited here today under new management ,Still as good as it always was very good service very helpful and generous servings ,will be visiting again .Hope you get the card machine back working .

We came along for lunch on a whim. It won't be our last visit. Lovely friendly staff great food and relaxed surroundings. Hubby had meatball sub it was great value for money. I had eggs benedict. Both meals were lovely, great presentation and hot. Hubby then went on to have tea and cake. This was a great find for us and it will definitely be on our frequent visit list. Many thanks to the staff.

Such a homely cafe to visit. The food is always made with such love and is updated often. Haven't been since the new little bar area has opened but looking forward to popping in for a wine. The service is so friendly, feels very comfortable.

I have just purchased a jacket potatoe with cheese and beans here for £5. When I got back to my office I was dismayed to see that I barely had two tablespoons of beans and roughly the same cheese. Believe the woman who served me just covered the cut down the middle without opening it out - I did see her using a teaspoon to spoon the toppings on and thought it was odd. Did contemplate taking the food back and requesting more but I was starving and sometimes you just can't be bothered with the aggro. I shall not be returning, which is a shame as the view is good.

Another great meal. Cajun burger was brilliant. They brought out spare chips as they had over cooked. Always welcoming and happy. Great eatery.

It was suggested that I on behalf of the group ring up the owner of Sound Bites Plymouth to see if he could do early breakfast for ten chaps and a packed lunch for the trip which he agreed to do and so on the morning of Sat 4th August at around 06.50 we marched in only to be ushered to two set tables for the group, orders were taken teas and coffees brought to the tables, breakfast severed ( which were freshly cooked ), packed lunches packed in boxes and made ready to take with us. The Service and the Food was to a very high standard. All the best to the crew of this cafe for the future. Cafe sited at Queens Battery Mariana.

Stayed at the QAB marina and was looking for somewhere for breakfast and was directed to 'Sound Bites' with a glowing reference.

Under the current dynamic ownership this little gem of a cafe is going from strength to strength. The simple, inexpensive, menu combined with the efficient, friendly, service, make this little cafe stand out and well worth a visit. The outdoor seating area with its views over the water and Plymouth Sound is delightful and I understand about to be upgraded to an all weather facility. In addition I understand that the Sound Bites will soon be licensed and the attraction of being able to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer on this little gem will be fantastic!

Came across this cafe whilst walking around the marina. What a find! although very busy and understandably so as the freshly cooked food and service was exceptional.

Came here 3 times in one week. Food great, view great and will definitely be back again. Nick and Debbie are very friendly and welcoming. The ‘Royal Navy’ favourite was really tasty and very filling and definitely worth trying.

Great experience, the breakfast was big and scrumptious. Great location as well, just near the barbican, quite isolated but has a great atmosphere. The English breakfast was traditional and everything you expect. Would recommend.
